Excellent service, best ever received and we have stayed at many hotels around the world. Restaurants are excellent, especially the one on the top floor and the Indian restaurant. Staff are polite and friendly and really ensure that you are happy. Walking distance to just about everything including the shopping market and the boats.

Great experience, great place, great staff, but must try to stay at Heritage Wing, not that the tower wing is good, its just that at Heritage wing is fantastic, great club room, great restaurants and food!!Golden Dragon for me is the best!

Amazing hotel that is well, well worth the money.

Great hotel, but make sure you stay at the old Taj Building, the new one is not as nice

Staying at this world class hotel is a must at least once in a lifetime. This is especially true of a club room with high tea in the afternoon and cognac and chocolates in the evening in their sea lounge. Luxury and olde world charm all the way.

This is undoubtedly the best hotel we have ever stayed in! Service is impeccable, food excellent, facilities and accomodation were luxurious!

The service here was just too much. I couldn't sit in peace. I put the do not disturb sign on my room but still they would call and slip notes under my door several times/day. At breakfast about 10 waiters came to my table even after I told them to leave me alone. On the ride to the airport, the hotel taxi driver (which is 10 times the cost of a normal taxi) tried to divert me to a gift shop. Great location, good facilities, but I couldn't get left alone at this place. I don't think they get it. In India, people bother me all day because I'm a foreigner. I don't want to be bothered in my hotel too.

The Taj Palace Hotel cannot be described is has to be experienced .. The Gateway of India just in front of the Hotel .. the rooms luxurious ... the restaurant (we have been to the Indian Food ... offers authentic and delicious food ... and incredible service Major sites are all around the corner ... marine drive Victoria Station Flora Fountain etc.

This is the second time I've stayed at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai (the first was just before the terrorist attack). I loved being there on both occasions, and when I'm in Mumbai again, I'll repeat my stay a third time. The hotel's history, ambiance, location (the historic Gateway to India is across the street), and grandeur make this one of my favorite hotels in the world.

The Taj Mumbai has all the facilities and ambience of its reputation but the service exceeds expectations. There is the minor inconvenience of having to go through security to get into the hotel, but on a Saturday night this can provide an amusing opportunity to guess which of the impeccably dressed patrons queuing with you is an ornament of Mumbai society. The Taj is conveniently located for shopping. There seems to be a shortage of good restaurants around so many times we retreated to the Taj's wide selection.

For what is supposed to be THE hotel in Mumbai (and having paid those kind of rates), I was pretty unimpressed. The location is convenient, but I'm sure there are plenty of other fine accomodations nearby. If I stay in Mumbai again and am spending this kind of money, I would probably try one of the newer hotels on Nariman Point.

Perfect Hotel for either holidays or business trips. Large rooms, very good restaurants, large Outside pool.

hotel is beautiful. great gym/spa. weak breakfast, buffet hot dishes are often tepid, average flavor. service staff can be overbearing when expecting tips. hotel restaurants are average and therefore overpriced for what they are.

Stay here if you get a good rate. I kinda felt discriminated within the hotel, because if you are staying at the tower, you are treated as less as if you were staying at the old palace. That was not so nice. If you get a good rate, stay here, otherwise stay at the Trident. I love that place.

We had an amazing stay in the Taj Palace, helped by the fact we were upgraded from a tower room to one in the palace. The room was incredible and service impeccable. The hotel is like a museum and we spent the afternoon just walking the corridors and marvelling at the decor and antiques. It was a real treat to stay in the lap of luxury at the end of our trip to India.

This Hotel has one of the best service i have experienced. From the time i walked in the staff were great, respectful curteous and very honest. Would recommend this to anyone travelling to Mumbai.

I booked a room for 2 nights and they show you a different picture on the web site and when i check inn they gave me a room in the back tower this tower has even their own front desk.they do not rent room in the front tower to the guest so sad.

Everything was excellent. From the service, to the rooms, to the food. There was just one thing that rooms were a bit small. But overall it was an amazing experience. Will definately be back again.

the rooms are pretty small and some kind of used(tower rooms) but the service and the entire hotel are unique.

Is a beautiful hotel , an icon amongst hotels . Reflects a standard of a bygone era almost. The buffet breakfast by the pool was a delight and the security and comfort first class. For the price I think is value for money , is an experience that is memorable , delightful stay thank you taj ....

We decided to stay at this hotel purely due to its reputation as being the 'landmark' hotel at mumbai. We were truly disappointed!!!!! Service was questionable to say the least. What's worse is the quality of the rooms! The rooms were in desperate need of a renovation and we were provided with a box television! For a 5 star hotel and a premium price per night, it was just totally not acceptable. Never staying there again and 100% NOT recommended. Have been to many other 5 star hotels that put the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel to utter shame!!!!

I can onlt give it 10/10 in every aspect.

The room had a lot of noise from the elevators, I had just arrived from a 16 Hour flight and couldn't sleep . The room had no desk, so I had to work on a coffee table, the internet was slow and they had blocked the ports so I couldn't use my IP phone on my laptop. When I had dinner there I orders a Diet Pepsi and got a regular Pepsi, when I asked about it they told me that it was in fact a diet Pepsi, and I had seen them pour it and it was a Pepsi

This was one of the best hotels I have stayed at in my life. Not cheap though!

Stayed in a tower room. Room was outdated, very disappointing. Dirty, old carpet. Paint flaking off some furntiture. Outdated small box TV. In short, room was awful. Tower should be demolished or completely redone. Service was good, not great (hotel too busy). This Taj has lost its touch. Stay at the Trident or Oberoi if you want to be in South Mumbai!!!!

....it really is a five start hotel. i only saw the palace area and it was amazing. we were lucky enough to stay on the club floor . if you want to be treated to a lovely warm experience and have a peaceful lovely time-out from hectic india ...this is it. beautiful, tasteful ...we had such a great experience here.

The Taj Mahal Mumbai was the first hotel for the Taj hotel chain and in it's day, it was amazing. Due to security following the terrorist event the Gateway to India is not what it was and my hotel room was very tired. Two twin beds pushed together when a King was confirmed and the service in the hotel was as slow as a boat to Goa. It was difficult to sleep with the honking and a rooster woke me up at 5:00 am. I would recommend walking through the hotel just to see it's historical importance, but stay somewhere else for comfort and quiet.

Taj Mumbai is fabulous. The arquitecture, the interiors,the decor, the inside pool, the rooms, the view to india gate. Although you find strict security measures ( there's a surrounding perimeter of safety that not even the cabs are allowed to enter and you and your lugage are totaly scaned ) the hotel staff are very friendfuly and helpfull to minimize such a nuissance. The hotel is very close to india gate and to the ferries to sight see elefant island. On a 20m walk you get to see some of the most relevant buildings of british times. The hotel location is also splendid. You are very close to shops, restaurants, streets . Cabs fare are negotiable and you can sight see renting one a day, very cheap. Shop keepers are a bit pushy but polite.

There isn't much to say other than this is the best hotel i have ever stayed at, and i travel a ton. the amenities are great but the service is unbelievable. just be prepared to pay US prices for everything, even more for their restaurants. a soup and a soda water at their chinese restaurant runs about 25USD, and drinks are on average 15USD.

The lobby is simply amazing, however our room (in the tower) was no more than you would expect from a good mid-priced hotel in Europe. Everything is very expensive, but the staff in the bars and restaurants are amazing. However I found the place rather soulless. Simple touches (such as replacing teas, coffees and toiletries) were missed. Our fridge stopped working after a day, bizarre for a hotel of this reputation. Outside the hotel it's pretty horrendous, you really have to keep your wits about you and bat off the assorted shady characters and touts.

The rooms were disgusting. I have no idea who said that this is a 5 star hotel, but its more like a 3 at best. Maybe the ratings are different overseas, but thishotel s no where near 5 star. I actually stayed at the intercontinental Marine drive 2 weeks earlier on and it was the same price and 100 times nicer! NEVER EVER stay there its not worth it!

Exceptional service and eagerness to please by all overshadowed all other great amenities this hotel has to offer. Great location, walking distance to the main musuems and art galleries. Truly grand

our room was freezing cold, even after putting the aircon to 29 degrees celcius for 2 hours. The food in the restaurant was average. However, because our flight was at 1 AM, we got a 2 PM late checkout free of charge. Also the concierge was very helpful and gave us some great tips on what to do on our last day.

The service, food and experience at the Taj was great. They are hoping to reopen the larger older and most famous part of the hotel in the next 3 - 5 months. There is definately a sadness that is lingering amongst the staff. I was unaware that the GM had lost his wife and two young sons. The memorial in the lobby is touching. While there there was a security alert from the Israeli's about a potential attack. The hotel security handled it very well. The pool is truly great and Sanjay, the masseur at the Spa, along with everyone at the Spa was really great. I'm sure once the entire hotel reopens it will be fully restored to its glory, not that it's not worth staying there now.

We arrived at the Taj after a month backpacking around India and we had the most amazing time. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. We came from Goa on the ovenight train and arrived at the hotel at 6.30am. We knew we couldn't check in until 2pm but we just wanted to leave our rucksacs. We were directed to the restaurant and given tea and newspapers and we opted to have the delicious buffet breakfast. At 9am we were told we could go to our room and that our breakfast was complimentary. Our room was beautiful in the Tower. The whole hotel was luxurious and we loved the pool and spa. A great choice of restaurants but more so the friendly and helpful nature of the staff without being overbearing was was made our stay. Would love to return here one day. Thank you!

es una visita obligada pero si te permites el lujo de estar alli todo cambia a mejor el hotel es fantastico en todo muy limpio muy cuidado muy centrico todo lo que necesites esta alli con vistas a la puerta de la india es una absoluta maravilla para ser perfecto le sobra el ruido del trafico que se nota cuando estas en la piscina y limpiar un poco mas el agua de misma yo pienso volver este hotel es una delicia vale la pena cada euro gastado el trato de la gente es perfecto y el sitio es imposible de mejorar gracias see you in mumbai
