The free breakfast was a hot breakfast with bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, french toast, oatmeal, etc...However, there were no healthy alternatives or foods for non meat eaters or those allergic to dairy. The only fruit they had were bananas.

It was an enjoyable two days,the pool was amazing ,my daughter really enjoyed her spring break

Three of my friends and I came in town Saturday for a girls weekend. Overall we had a blast. The hotel/room was super nice and provided a great view! However, we did have 2 small complaints. First, there were a big group of cheerleaders in the hotel and they were playing in the only operating elevator pushing all the floor buttons and riding on the luggage carts. Therefore, this made getting up and down the floors take forever. Secondly, the breakfast food was really good and love that it was a buffet. However, they should offer more than 1 tiny glass of juice. With all that being said, we would stay here again

I reserved and paid for a room with a ocean front view and furnished balcony, instead I received a room with a view of the alley/building beside us and a balcony that was barely wide enough to stand on. When I requested another room I was told nothing could be done. THEN there was the noise that the employees did nothing about. There was a cheer convention in town and the cheerleaders were VERY noisy. Screaming/yelling in the halls and nothing was done about it. Even at checkout the person behind the counter tried to say I owed for the room even though it was prepaid via the site! The only redeeming quality about this was the breakfast buffet. Overall I was INCREDIBLY disappointed in this hotel and will never stay at it again!

There are things that can be better, BUT you can tell they did a lot of renovating, so it will be even better............that being said, they had about all you could ask for and all of the furniture and decor seemed new, so you would be picky to complain. My picky point then would be that I wish they had more in the workout room..........It was a LOT cheaper than the hotels my friends got for our large group trip without them getting much more in return. The service was awesome as well, and we liked the breakfast offered. I would definitely stay there again the next time I visit.

it was horrible i had to wait an hour and a half for breakfast and hear other people complain about the waiting of the food the indoor pool was ice cold i stayed at another hotel last year and they were alot better and cheaper

My friend and i travelled over from Australia. We loved our oceanview room with balcony, beautiful views. Hotel reception staff are amazing, always willing to help. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Already planning our next trip back and will definitley be staying at our home away from home.

Everything was nice and clean. Reall. enjoy the breakfast. Well come again.

We really enjoyed our visit. We used room service and it was very quick, very tasty and quite a lot of food to work thru. All the staff we were in touch with were very nice and helpful. We definitely would return to this hotel. Our room overlooked the Fishing Pier and it was very scenic from the balcony. It was very nice having both a microwave and fridge in the room, and the TV was quite large for a hotel room.

Hotel has been significantly renovated. Room was great, best view along the board walk. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great too. Highly recommended!

recently renovated, good size rooms, bathroom counter a little small.... great full buffet breakfast at restaurant downstairs. Nice staff.

Loved it, will be back. Not crazy about the breakfast. We actually paid to earn somewhere else the second morning.

My family and I was wonderfully surprise at this little jewel of a hotel on the beach.It was very quiet and peaceful It was just what we needed for a quick get away.The atmostphere and hospitality was excellent.Yes,I will recommend .The Sandcastle hotel to my family and friends

the hotel service was poor we had to keep asking for housekeeping to come in and clean and bring toilet paper they were working on rooms there and we had to be woken up every morning by 7 am to banging drilling paint fume and swearing from there maintenance i will never stay there again

We loved the stay at the hotel but were a little disappointed with the construction. The pool was not complete, there was no hot tub, and no arcase. But the room was clean and spacious and in a FANTASTIC location. We'd stay there again, just will call and make sure the construction is finished.

My husband and I booked at this hotel due to price for their ocean front room. It was nice, the rooms are relatively small but I really liked the fact that we were on the 4th floor and their parking deck goes up to the 4th floor. Which means were not that far from our car. Due to us going in October, it was not crowded and parking was excellent. They did serve breakfast buffet but we did not care for it because it did not have a lot on the buffet that was so appealing but it is free. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They also gave us a 10% off coupon for the next time we stayed! Overall I would stay again.

I'll book rooms at this hotel again. The room was clean and had all required amenities. Great ocean view. The staff was helpful and pleasant. Room came with breakfast buffet vouchers.Convenient secure parking. Down side was no room service and noisy repair of fire door in progress.

Stay was fine, some construction work still going on and the jet fly overs were a little annoying.

It was a nice hotel stay. I would have prefered a room that was not right above the boiler room. The staff did offer to move my room, and they were very attentive to our needs. I felt comfortable at Sandcastle.

This was one of many recent stays there, & the remodel just keeps getting better!

We couldn't keep a key working to get us into our room. and the parking deck is very crowded to get into and out of. the upper floors are not locked so anyone can come and go as the please. and the front desk could care less about any problems you have. They are still doing constrution on the hotel. The elevator is very slow and sounds like it is going to fall apart at any time.

Overall I was very pleased. There is "wear and tear" signs, but also alot of activity that shows it's being addressed. The biggest plus is the staff. Always kind and professional......and a GREAT breakfast and staff there too.

Overall the quality of service was good after we got the room key's. Checkpin time was 3 pm, how ever room was not ready until 3:45pm, our kid was kid of tired after drive, so we just walked out of hotel @3 :45 to distract him & back @ 4:30 pm, luckily room was ready by the time we came back to hotel.

Comp Breakfast was subpar - nothing healthy on the buffet at all, not even a bowl of fresh fruit! Rooms were narrow but the view of the beach and peer made up for it.

Enjoyed our stay at Sandcastle. The upgrades to the hotel are beautiful. The staff was professional and friendly. The room was very comfortable but a little dark. The granite in the bathroom was impressive and the shower had lots of pressure which is a big plus over other hotels I've stayed in. The soap and shampoo dispensers are very handy and offer a quality product.The complimentary coffee/juice in the lobby was a welcome treat each evening and the hot breakfast was yummy before we started our busy day. It was a wonderful weekend.

Overall it a decent hotel in a good location and was resonably priced. I'd stay there again with out complaint.

Lots to do. pool not that good, Jets flying over head is to much

We stayed at Sandcastle 3 years ago. They have been renovating since then and what an improvement. Didn't even recognize the foyer! And the full breakfast buffet was a welcomed plus. I thought I had read that the pool had been renovated but it hasn't - so still probably not a good place for small children as the pool starts out at 3 foot and goes to 6 foot - which is directly besides what is called a baby pool but looks more like a hot tub. And I still like the parking deck - although a bit dark makes it so easy to un pack and pack. Most hotels don't have this and you end up having to park 2 blocks away. Renovations are still going on and while we didn't hear anything on the 5th floor a boy on the elevator who was on the 9th floor did mention about hearing banging all day. Good location and more on the quiet end of VA Beach which we like. We will be back!

Good location and excellent breakfast selection. The pool was not heated and it was suppose to be. There was construction outside the pool area so it couldn't be utilized. With beach front location it was not a big deal. We would stay there again.

Stay was ok.

I question the legitimacy of the previously reviews for the Sandcastle Hotel.. When we arrived the Front Desk Staff seemed annoyed that we booked through Hotel's.com ( as they call it a "third party booking." ) We were actually scolded for not booking with the hotel directly. There was a young brunette lady who was quite rude. We were asked to wait in the Lobby with two young children because they claim our reservation had not yet been confirmed by Hotel's.com. When we arrived to our room it was cramp and musty. The beds had crumbs in between the sheets. We were only given two towels for a family of four and we were electronically locked out of our room before check-out time. We do a lot of traveling and this was by far the worse hotel we have ever stayed in! Extremely poor customer service!

Loved it, will go back again. One note, the rates were a little high.

My wife and I had 5 nights of stay at Sandcastle in VA Beach it was the best experience, we been coming to the area since we got married in 2000 and come back every year since then. We stayed at the Holiday Inn's on boardwalk but never got the feeling of pride that we experienced here, the employee's smile, speak, help in any way they can. This will be our hotel from now on. Thank you to the lady who cleans on the 5th floor (508) she was the best, sweet, she needs to be head of house keeping. Thank you again for out lovely experience.

The hotel is in dire need of remodeling. The overall stay was okay. The walls are paper-thin.

I was very impressed! My room was very clean, the housekeeper asked me if I needed anything everyday. It was wonderful! We will definitely stay at the Sandcastle oceanfront again.

This was our first stay at the Sandcastle so I don't know what to base it on as far as the remodeling, but they were still working on it when we got there in August and advertised it was completed in June. The room was nice, but there was a frayed place where the carpet and floor met, the light that hung from the ceiling in front of the window was leaking water on the table at times, the internet was not working most of the time, had a very hard time connecting and my husband could never get on his computer while we were there ( not that we spent a lot of time on the computer, but it was pouring rain one morning so we wanted to pass time) and they reset the code every Sunday but was not told that when we arrived. The breakfast was nice but I wanted to take my food up to the room and eat on the balcony but you cant take any food out , you have to eat there. It is located in a central location to everything which was nice. The staff are very friendly. Fridge was nice and kept everything really cold. We were given no code for the safe, so not sure if you are charged more for its use or not. We did have a great time, but was disappointed in the above mentioned things.

At check in I was charged an extra $10 per night for a 14 year old who is was considered an adult, most other hotels children were free up to age of 16. The balcony above us was constantly dripping water down and splashing on you when sitting outside. Room was nothing like pictures show on internet. There was no couch, two beds, small table, fridge and microwave all crammed into very small room. For the price would not recommend staying.
