great room for the price, great location. i have stayed here several times when coming to SD. very nice people at front desk.

I wouldn't wish this hotel on my worst enemy!

NOT IMPRESSED WITH THIS PLACE..... WOULD NOT EVER STAY HERE AGAIN

My wife, daughter, and I were in San Diego for a business/leisure trip. My wife had a conference at the Convention Center, so the location of the hotel wasn't ideal since we didn't have a car. However, we didn't want to pay $200 a night for a hotel just to be close to the Convention Center. The hotel was clean, the room was a nice size, the man at the desk was very helpful and friendly. The place could use some updating. For what we paid, it was a great place to stay in Downtown.

Poor maintained

OK for one night to catch a morning flight at San Diego airport.

The people were great, very accommodating, nice, and professional. The place was nice, great for the price, great location. I would stay here again.

It was horrible. The bed was comfortable, but the room was the size of a closet, and our room wasn't cleaned each day until after 4, and sometimes later. And when we complained the first day it happened, it kept getting later. The breakfast consisted of bread and coffee, put out around 6:30, and put away by 8am. The hall stunk of indian food though, all day long. When we complained about their consistency of not cleaning our room by a decent time, we heard excuses that one of their cleaners is pregnant, and that they dont clean the stay overs until last. Just truly poor service. The room honestly was about 10'x10', which honestly should only take 10 minutes to clean. Then when we asked for a late checkout, they denied it. My wife had to work until 12 and checkout was 11, I asked if we could leave at 12:30 and they said no because they needed to clean the room. Which really angered me considering they never even came near our room until dark. pathetic. poor customer service.

We decided to stay here only because I'd espied a review that began with the admonition, "cummon, people!" indicating that other reviewers were perhaps being a little nit-picky. As it happens, they were. We'd just come from a few nights at the Horton Grand (which was excellent, btw) and wanted to spend an evening within walking distance of Little Italy, so we decided to try this place on...and it was a perfect fit. The room was clean (no room service, but who cares when you're bloating yourself with lasagna and cannoli?), bed was comfy and quiet, the fridge was clean and easily accomodated a largish pizza box, and the neighborhood, while not Rodeo Drive, certaily wasn't rodeo clown either. It's literally a two-minute walk from downtown Little Italy -- safe area, friendly, plenty of foot traffic. Plus the lobby has Nag Champa burning, so huge upside there. Not sure what anybody's expecting for a price you can cover with pocket change, but we found it to be a brilliant choice.

nice enough. very bare bones, but price and location are good

Very treasonable. Was staying near Temecula for a wedding. Leaving very early in the am. This hotel was very near car rental return, for San Diego airport, hence the choice. Room was clean. This is an old hotel. Room small, but updated. No ice or coffee. However for the inexpensive rate, I can't complain.

The old run down condition of this place hits you in the nose with the stale mildew smell and it was not very clean either.

I would never Stay here again.. The front desk person was nice but that was the only good thing. The hotel is old and smelled badly. I could not sleep due to the smell and refused to shower there. We stayed there because all hotels in San Diego were booked. It took us more than 45 minutes to be able to get a cab to gaslamp.

Hotel room was very small. Other guest were loud and rude.Got no sleep due to the parties being held in next room. Being that is down town I thought it would have been a good choice for site seeing but due to our great note of no sleep we just left town. Never again will I stay at this hotel.

Room was small but worth the price

Room was ok, wasn't dirty but looked dingy probably because it's very old. Bathroom was fine, looked recently remodeled and clean. Walls are thin, you can hear everything. Smelled like bug spray. Windows were hard to open, very old with no screens. Small room, comfortable bed. A little stuffy probably because the size. Hallway looked like a scary movie, creaky boards, impending doom. You pay for the location. Down the street from everything, gas lamp district, harbor, back to back restaurants and shops. On the corner of two busy streets, sound loud outside, inside it's quiet. Overall it's good for a night if your traveling through like we were, but not more than that. On the other hand, it's a really great price compared to other that are next to the harbor. You can see the water from the street corner. Doesnt look anything like the happy luxury room they show on the site. I give 2/5.

My room was small but I didn't need much. The building was old but everything was pretty clean. The location was awesome, just a couple blocks from the heart of Little Italy. It had an empty fridge which was nice for the left overs and water from walking the city. It also has a parking lot which most hotels don't have in SD. I did peek in some other rooms and they were bigger than mine so I think my room size was because I was alone, which is understandable. Basically if your looking for a place to crash that is clean and your not going to hang out at your hotel, this is a good place.

I was in transit to Seattle with a quick overnight in San Diego. The first room I was given was terrible with open old food and pizza everywhere. No cleaning done nor linen or beds made. They just said Oh. They gave me another room. Absolutely no help with luggage. I am 64 and had several bags. I asked if they could help and they said take the elevator. They were friendly but not the least bit disturbed about the rooms. They said they had lots of people the day before. There were rooms with doors left open and they did not bother to try to clean them while I was there. For these conditions I paid too much!!!!! When the taxi came the next morning they just watched me struggle with my luggage. Not a finger lifted.

Pretty much, you get what you pay for. It wasn't expensive so we didn't expect anything fancy and it definitely wasn't. The woman at the front desk, I guess she's the owner, couldn't find our reservation at first so she upgraded us to a suite for the night we stayed which was really nice of her, although the room wasn't anything special. The location is great, right in Little Italy so you can walk to great restaurants and Gaslamp is a short cab ride away. This part of the city is located right near the airport which is great if you're just getting in, but be aware that you can hear every plane that goes by.

I don't get the negative ratings here. The hotel is ideally located, within walking distance to Little Italy's awesome restaurants, it's also right of of 1-5. Minutes drive to beaches. Nice walk to the the waterfront. The room was cozy enough, the bed was nice, and it seemed pretty clean. I should also note that the place was pretty quiet, but I sleep with the fan on.

This hotel is a great price and in the heart of Little Italy. Convenient to the airport. Sometimes the parking lot (another great perk) is full, but there is free street parking around. Very comfortable bed with new linens and bedspread. I think they could get rid of the free breakfast because the coffee is weak and toast not worth eating.

Hotel was under going renovations. Check in time was acutally 3pm not 2pm.

My fiance and I had two nights at the hotel and we enjoyed our stay. No issues at all. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is perfect to access Downtown and parks etc. Cheap and cheerful!

Spent two nights for a fun getaway with a friend. We both could not sleep due to the traffic noise. Towels where threadbare (one small bath towel each). No coffee maker in the room. ?Breakfast consisted of bread or frozen waffles, jam, coffee and coffee mate. Nothing fresh available. Owners where friendly and the location was good for walking everywhere. The bed was comfortable and had nice clean sheets. I would try a different budget hotel next time.

Very good location. Owners were very helpful. Easy to get around and access Bay area. Basic but clean!!

I chose this hotel because it was near the airport, and because it was cheap. For those purposes, it was fine, but there were many other things to disrecommend it if one is planning to stay longer. The rooms are old and shabby, with none of the frills common at similar low-grade hotels such as coffee makers; the area is surprisingly loud, and the walls very thin; and the parking lot is very small, so if you don't get there early, you won't get a space. If you just need a place to crash for one night, and want something cheap, you'll probably find it acceptable, but there's nothing about it to recommend itself above other hotels.

Rooms were clean and maintained, but just the basic amenities. No coffee maker or iron. Location is close to the airport ($12 taxi, no hotel shuttle) and downtown. Plenty of places to eat nearby. Breakfast provided albeit basic: freezer waffles and coffee. Hotel was able to hold my bags for me for a few hours, but did not provide a receipt stub - not the most secure... I only crashed there a single night, which was fine. If traveling on a budget or staying a short time only, it gets the job done.

If it were not for the location of this hotel from the pier and Little Itlay, I would have called 911 and had someone locked up for even thinking about offering a room here. As scary as the lobby of the hotel is the rooms are even scarier. I was put in room 209. I was ooookay with the room until I pulled back the covers to expose the box spring that appeared to be recycled from a dumpster. It was bad and I am glad we can not put pictures on this review. ON THE OTHER HAND...the bathroom was updated and remodeled. Really nice! The TV only played on a few channels. The WORST part of the room was the smell. After a two day stay, I still could not identify the smell. May old carpet or carpet cleaned with dirty water. Needless to say, I spent most of my time sitting in a chair in Little Italy until the shops closed then I had no choice but to return to my room.

The hotels convenient, to where we needed to be, location and low price was the reason for choosing this hotel. The room was comfortable and reasonably clean. The hotel itself could use a complete remodel and update.

Very convenient to Little Italy and the freeway, and very low price. However, the hotel was old and dingy, very limited parking (only about 16 spaces for a 4 story hotel, no toilet paper dispenser in the bathroom (toilet paper just stacked on the toilet, had towels with shredded edges, etc. Very small bathroom, and the continental breakfast consisted of coffee and toast. The room was very clean, though, and the hotel staff was friendly.

This is a nice hotel located in downtown. It's just a block from little Italy. The room was small but for 2 people with a king size bed it was perfect. Parking is next to non existent but there is a lot of free parking just a 5 min walk north so it wasn't that bad, if you have a large truck all I have to say is good luck. The breakfast is lacking in food but there are some great food joints just a block away. I will be staying here the next time I'm in san degio

Room was clean and service was good. Power went out and was restored quickly. Very near airport (like the end of the runway). Parking lot only holds about 10 cars.

Good value for money with a very convenient position. Staff are excellent., very friendly and helpful. Free parking on hotel grounds is a plus. Some of the public areas could use an update but the rooms are good standard for the money butreally need doulbe glazing as there can be a lot of road noise. Overall I would recommend this hotel as great value, friendly and convenient and I will book again when I am next in San Diego.

We were pleasantly surprised! The owner was very nice, location was great, beds were very comfortable, and the room was clean. It's a little small but it didn't really bother us. The power went out that evening, but after thirty mins it came back on. Probably something to do with all the rain. We would definitely come back!

Hotel was alright but could have been nicer/updated. The location was great though! Perfect for walking to most places or short taxi ride.

I liked the central downtown location. It was close to everything. It is also very close to all freeways and within walking distance of nice restaurants. The airport is only about 2 miles away which makes a cab ride inexpensive. The rooms are old but clean. I can say for the price and convenience it was a nice place to stay if you are looking for a modern well appointed room this is not for you. If you are price conscious and want to be close to everything this is a good place to stay. By the way the continental breakfast is just coffee, juice and frozen waffles.

Affordable stay, free wi-fi and blocks from the Harbor and downtown. 5 minutes from the airport. No frills. Definitely recommend.

Loved it! Close to harbor and bay. close to Little Italy the safest area in San Diego. Friendly helpful office staff. continental breakfast included. Convenient off-street parking lot. Wonderful bed. Clean attractive room with bathroom.

If they ever had a view of the San Diego Harbor, it must have been before WWII, because you cannot see the harbor from this facility. I got a very good price which included breakfast. But the breakfast is coffee and toast or bagels. If you need something heartier than that, you are out of luck! I must say that although the hotel is at the corner of Grape St. and another one-way street, it was quiet despite the traffic right outside my window on the ground floor. That night, they must have been having trouble with their card keys for each room.
