After a disappointing start we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the hotel. We had spoken by telephone with Hotels.com and had booked a room with a double bed and balcony and received an email confirmation of those two features. However, when we were shown our room on arrival it had two single beds. We spoke with the manager/receptionist and were shown an alternative room with a double bed and balcony (all rooms have a balcony) but that room was smaller and accessed by a convoluted journey up and down lifts and stairs and along corridors. (The hotel is very large and comprises several adjoining buildings, open and enclosed spaces for pools, terraces, gardens, eating areas, bar, reception etc.) Perhaps because it is so large a hotel and because we were guests during a relatively quiet period in the year only some blocks of rooms were made available and the double-bedded rooms were small. So we decided to stay in the twin-bedded room. The room was quiet, had a mini-bar, TV that could pick up BBC and an efficient guest controlled heating system. the hotel facilities are very good. The outdoor pool and terraces are terrific, the indoor bar with its variety of socialising areas are enormous and luxurious, the breakfast area is vast and the food and service are excellent. The hotel location was perfect for us, close to the old town with its vast numbers of restaurants, close to the promenade with its shops and cafes, close to the marina area where friends of ours were renting an apartment and very close to a a couple of small English-type pub/bars. The beach is within walking distance (about a mile) but the hotel provides free minibus transport to and from the beach every half hour. We had a lovely surpise one day when we returned from the indoor pool to our room and found a bottle of champagne in an ice bucket, two glasses and a card from the hotel manager! They have removed the tea and coffee making facilities from the rooms which was very convienient in past stays.

we traveled as a group of 14 people (7) couples. lovely hotel. very clean comfortable , very friendly staff. a few bars with food a few yards away. over all i would go back Betty

We stayed here from 4th to 11th September.Rejected 1st room because of poor view - buildings- as did quite a number of other guests. This hotel for all its glossy reception area needs a complete revamp as regards the old buildings it has inherited for the residential parts.Too far to walk down lifts, up lifts along corridors aud and down stairs before you get anywhere.No coffee/tea making facilities in room ,hardly 4 star .Breakfast buffet just chaos - too many people milling about. The hotel doesn't even serve coffee or tea which would reduce the congestion considerably.Not enough sunloungers or parasols around pool area.One redeeming feature was the free bus service to the beach with a separate swimming pool and restaurant. Very acceptable.

Was quite happy overall with Tivoli - hotel is clean, staff are polite, service is reasonable (by Portuguese standards)....my one gripe was with the room. The room (1st floor) was almost sub-terranean and although it had a very small balcony, it looked out onto about 20 foot of barren, wasteland which was bordered by a high wall that was overgrown with unkept climbers. Unusuable balcony and minimal natural light. A pool on an upper floor overlooking the pool would have made it perfect

This Hotel is in a fantastic location to get to town and beaches. The Hotel also provides an hourly bus to a wonderful local beach. The hotel facilities are great, a lovely pool and fun live music in the evenings. An an amazing breakfast! Only complaint would be the staff, as some need to work on their customer service skills, but if you have any problems ask for the manager as they seem to be the only one who knows what (and cares) what's going on!

Full marks to Management for staff training and choosing staff that are efficient, polite and cheerful. The shuttle bus to and from the beach outside the hotel door was a huge bonus. The breakfasts in the Tivoli were faultless and it was good to have the happy hourS in the hotel every evening. I loved walking around Lagos because I was not approached by anybody trying to sell their wares, although there was lots to choose from. I loved the safety of the streets, lots of people, all age groups walking around and a marvellous choice of restaurants.

Me and my boyfriend stayed for a week and were merely using this hotel as a base to explore the area and do a bit of surfing. The price we paid to have breakfast included was really good and the room although small was all we needed and the aircon turbo powered! The shower was high power, there was always hot water, the room was spotless and the staff reasonably friendly. Like most hotels drinks and food were a bit overpriced but we were rarely there anyway. The breakfast was really good and caters for all tastes and good quality for a buffet. One downsight I thought was the fact we had to pay for the key to the safebox in the room which most places have as complimentary. I'd recommend this holiday if you want a bit of a step up from a hostel but not looking for luxury.

The hotel is in a great location and easy to find. Parking was free down the road in a hotel parking lot. The lobby is impressive as is the bar area and pool which also had good food. There's also a restaurant/grill that looked very good but we didn't eat there. Frankly, the "resort" is quite nice. Nothing crazy but very comfortable. That said, our room was old. The balcony viewed nothing, the double bed was the two single beds pushed together version and the tv was about 14 inches. The room, basically, felt like it was from the 1980s though there was air conditioning and it was kept tidy everyday. To be clear: it wasn't unclean or anything, it just wasn't as nice as the rest of the resort which clearly most of the money had gone to when it was updated. I'd stay here again but would definitely pay more for a nicer room if they are available.

If you're looking for a nice hotel close to town then this is a great option. It is a 10 - 15 min walk to the bars and restaurants in town though, and not an easy one! A massive hill to climb if you want to go anywhere, but Lagos is quite hilly so you may find this in a lot of places. We did feel as though we were in a retirement village though, with the average age being about 65 years, which wasn't that exciting for a 29 yo couple. We did find the rooms to be very small though, and the aircon didn't work so well. The free shuttle bus and use of the Duna Beach Club was great, however we only went there one day due to the age thing... we found that Patata beach in town was where the younger ones hang out. Overall, good hotel and great experience.

Nice hotel convenient located near Lagos city center, with rich buffet breakfast. Private beach with free shuttle bus available, free sun shadows and beach chairs.

My wife and I stayed at the Tivoli recently. We have stayed at the hotel before about 3 years ago. Probably the most appealing thing about the hotel is its location, just out of the centre of Lagos and a 10 minute walk.Since our last visit, it appears that the hotel is in need of a 'face-lift''. Our room, situated at the back of the hotel, beyond the swimming pool area was ok but just that. I think that a more realistic rating for this hotel is a 3 star and not a 4 star has advertised.

Very comfortable and well run hotel convenient to the resort centre and restaurants. The pool area was very nice and very well kept. The only complaint we had was two bottles of water in room seemed to be complementary but in fact we were charged for them at the rather stiff price of Eur2.70 each when the same water sold in the local shop for 46c. I think this should have been made more clear and not left to us to guess. Otherwise everything good - very good buffet breakfast and will definitely go back there in the future

Be aware of the good ratings, not a good hotel! Ok from infrastructure aspect and maybe price but so dull and without any charme (reminds me dramatically to DDR alike functional highrises from the 60´s (i.e. "Plattenbauten")). While being locatzed very centrally in Lagos one faces long ways to the sometimes very shady rooms, small pool, large breakfast buffet that is of low quality however. Go for a pension, a small hotel, any other place but this one make you feel bad.

An excellent hotel with all amenities. The food is very good and service was excellent. The stairs etc could be challenging for those with walking difficulties, but overall an excellent holiday. The design of the hotel and decor are a real feature.

Great location, very close to town centre and marina. Very laid back atmosphere. Also has free bus to their own section on the beach which has bar/food available. Will stay there again.

The Tivoli is a really high quality hotel in the heart of Lagos in the old town, and only a few minutes walk from the marina, bus station and train station. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, quiet and cosy. The breakfast buffet is superb. There are two computers in the hotel giving free internet access, but wi-fi is charged at 9 Euros a day (free wi-fi please!). The hotel offers a complimentary bus which goes to a beach to the east of Lagos, and to golf courses on request.

This is a very comfortable hotel within easy walking distance of the marina and town centre. The hotel is not close to the beach but has its own beach club with a courtesy bus to take you there. It is an interesting building on different levels. We stayed in February and were pleased to find a lounge area with an open log fire. All the staff we met were friendly, helpful and spoke excellent English. Our only criticism was the restaurant. On Valentines Day there was a special menu in the a la carte Patio Velho and the main restaurant offered only a buffet option. This was adequate but unexciting and expensive for what it was. If it had not been raining we should have left the hotel and gone to one of the many nearby restaurants.

The hotel is extreemely beautiful inside. One of the nicest hotel interiors and furnitures I have ever seen! Round sofas in orange etc etc. There must be someone with a great taste! I loved it and I suppose it could as well be a 5 star hotel!

A wonderful spot with convenient on-site parking! We loved the old style hotel and free breakfast was very tasty. The rooms were comfortable and quiet but a bit of a trek to access - via 2 lifts and up and down stairs. Would stay there again!

we chose the tivoli for our honeymoon after seeing many positive reviews and after seeing it billed so highly. however we were extremely dissapointed. the front desk staff were rude, unhelpful, and at times gave us very incorrect information. the hotel room was not very clean and the bathroom was not clean. additionally, the hotel was often unable to provide clean beach towels. in sum, if the hotel didnt sell itself as a 4 star hotel we wouldnt have been dissapointed but we were expecting a lot more given how they advertised and given how expensive it was. i would not recommend this hotel.

OK.. The service are good, and the staff was friendly, and it is very central (easy walk downtown).. But it is not really a 4 star.. At least our room was not up to standard, and rather small. But for a short weekend, and you want to explore Lagos by night / by foot it is good enough..

decent hotel. however, the private beach was not as great as i expected to be and the bus times to get there were not very convenient. front desk was very helpful in setting up a boat tour through Bom Dia company to see Ponte da Piedade which was really nice. definitely something worth checking out. indoor pool was packed when we went and you had to wear caps provided by the hotel. i don't think they were clean and once someone wore one, you chose from the same pile of caps. breakfast was buffet style and pretty good compared to other hotels we had stayed. restaurants nearby have great local regional food as well so definitely try out some of those. all in all, recommended.

Would happily go back. Decent breakfast buffet, reasonably pried drinks at bar plus long happy hour. Central but quiet location. Slight drawback is that the sliding patio doors in older part of hotel are very noisy to open & close, so you know when the neighbours are around!

The hotel is in a great location. If you arrive by train, just walk to the other side of the marina and take the pedestrian bridge across the canal. The walk takes 10-15 minutes. The rooms are Spartan, the beds not very comfortable, and the TV is worthless for English only visitors. OK, enough about the "bad" stuff. The hotel is completely worth it for it's location near both the train station and the city center - though the trek to the center is uphill both ways. Furthermore, the hotel offers a free shuttle (every hour on the hour) to it's beach resort named "Duna Beach." There you can lounge on beach chairs for free or on poolside cabanas for 10-25 euros, swim in the pool for free, eat at the cafe, order drinks at the tiki bar, and charge everything to your room. Here is an insider's tip: you can get beach towels at the front desk of the hotel; they place a 25 euro deposit on your room and take it off when you return them. All in all, a fine place to stay considering that when you are in Lagos you want to spend as little time as possible in your room. We never made it up early enough for breakfast, so I cannot attest to the quality. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

No problems with the hotel itself or the rooms or the quality of the inclusive breakfast BUT the surly and unhelpful nature of the recepetion staff, of which there were many, was the worst that I have come acros for many years.

I couldnt fault the Tivoli, would recommend, the service, staff, food overall great. But Lagos is fab, and only minutes walk from the hotel.

Bra läge, god frukostbuffé, trevlig personal. Enda nackdelen var att vi fick ett rum som var litet krångligt att hitta i korridorerna.

Das Hotel liegt absolut super, ca. 5 Min. zum Städtchen Lagos, auch die schöne Hafenanlage ist in 3 Min. zu erreichen.

Hotel bien situe a proximite du centre ville anime le soir. Parties communes de l'hotel agreables. Cependant, le batiment est vetuste, la moquette usee des couloirs rejette une odeur nauseabonde. Celle-ci est retrouvee dans certaines chambres peu lumineuses par ailleurs. La peinture est a refaire.

Abbiamo soggiornato presso l'hotel Tivoli Lagos alla fine del nostro tour in Portogallo. L'hotel e' molto bello, confortevole ed i servizi offerti sono veramente ottimi. Inparticolare il servizio navetta gratuito dall'hotel alla spiaggia con i servizi ombrellone e sdraio inclusi (gratuiti). Una spiaggia meravigliosa .. da non perdere. L'hotel e' posizionato a pochi minuti dal centro di Lagos e con una breve passeggiata si possono raggiongere sia il centro che la marina. Infine ottima la colazione a buffet e molto comodo il posteggio auto. Sicuramente un posto idela per una vacanza in pieno relax.

Tuvimos cucarachas en el baño durante toda la estancia y no se molestaron mucho por eliminarlas u ofrecernos otra habitación.

Helt klart et hotell jeg vil anbefale til andre. For både par og familier. Utmerket frokost buffet, med alt du kan tenke deg. Fantastisk. Veldig bra beliggenhet, og god service på hotellet. Reiser gjerne tilbake!

L'hotel è una vecchia struttura, situta vicino al centro ma in una zona degrada. Ci siamo fatti cambiare la camera due volte, ma non siamo riusciti ad aver un qualcosa degno di un 4 stelle; dimensioni inaccettabili affacciate su cortili o terrazze improponibili. Colazione a buffet ok, parti comuni stila coloniale non male.
