Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya - برشلونة

The friendliness and the service minded staff made our stay very comfortable and the fact that the hotel is located slightly outside the tourist area is nothing but a big plus. I was at first a bit scared that the hotel would be too much outside, but already the first night we realized that we had made the right choice. Our room was very quiet, which is very rare in Barcelona. It takes hardly 30 minutes to walk to the main area of Las Ramblas and the metro/station is just 2 minutes walk from the hotel. We really appreciated the small gestures made by the staff to make our stay comfortable. In fact, that is what we appreciated the most. I am trying to come up with something negative to write. I mean, that is after all how the hotel can improve, but I am not able to come up with everything. We will surely come back to Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya again!

We stayed at the grand torre in mid march 2012. It is very convenient as the hotel is literally 50 metres from the Sants train station (and Sants estacio metro stop). All the trains to Barcelona airport stop at Sants so it is very accessible for that. It's about 20 minutes to the airport. The airport train station is adjoining terminal 2 in Barcelona airport (5 min walk from departures). The hotel is modern and clean. There is a nice small spa which is 6 euro to visit and we found good. The swimming pool is very small maybe 8 - 10 metres. The hotel is about 25 minutes walk to the city centre but only a few mins on the metro. The area is residential but there is a large supermarket right next door which is very handy. The font magica is about 10 mins walk from the hotel and well worth a visit for the display. Also I would recommend going to the nearby Arena Barcelona which is a very modern shopping centre with cafes and restaurants and a cinema. There is some nice restaurants on the top floor of the arena particularly Mussol which is well worth a visit. Overall good hotel and very good value rate.

Arrived on an early flight from Dublin, walked out of Barcelona Sants statiion and there is the hotel, pretty much over looking the station. Arrived at reception at about 1030 with the intention of merely dropping off our bags and moochin around town till check-in time (1400) but were allowed up to our room straight away. Double sinks in room, bath and separate wet room shower, super comfy 6 foot wide bed. One of the nicest rooms I've stayed in bar te wedding suite in Harvey's Point, Donegal!

Great room and bathroom. Well located close to Central Station. Quiet. Would go back there.

Frinedly staff and good service. Location nearby the central station "Sants" is perfect for train, metro and open bus tour. We also enjoyed of the Spa. Real nice is the restaurant on the top floor; You have a great view and the foor is excellent, really good ! Enjoy your stay.

This is a modern business hotel right in front of the Sants train station in Barcelona. The room was great, the staff helpful. The only negative is its a 10 minute walk to restaurants beisides those at the train station.

This is a high rise hotel, reminiscent of a Marriott or Crowne Plaza in the US. Just as clean, spacious, and nice. The restaurant on the top floor has a beautiful view, especially at night. It's right across from the main train station and bus depot. Not very close to old town and the waterfront though.

Hotel and staff were amazing! They were super-friendly and willing to go the extra mile. Our luggage was delayed and the front desk and business center were diligent in following up with airline on a regular basis. The rooms were clean and view was nice. The view from the top floor restaurant was amazing! The breakfast was bountiful... worth the discounted price per person for pre-booked vs. standard price on the day of. Rooms were comfortable and clean. PROS: Location was close to Metro. Grocery store around the corner in the 'basement" of adjacent building, located near park area, Staff was amazing and all spoke English, Rooms were nice, Bathroom was nice (strong water pressure), Nice breakfast CONS: Long lines to check-in and check-out. We stayed there for two nights. There was a party with loud music at the hotel next door. The party and music was really loud and it did not end until after 1:30AM. There was nothing anyone can do. There was loud music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Literally across the street from Sants rail station and the Barcelona metro, Torre Catalunya is a great choice when visiting this city. Clean, modern bright rooms and spaces. Pass on the breakfast buffet, better cheaper alternatives in the area.

I wanted a larger hotel in a convenient location. I studied my options on hotels.com and other sites, and I am really glad I picked this hotel. The rate was reasonable. The staff was fluent in English, and was very responsive to anything we needed, or asked about. The room was a good size, and bathroom was great, ex. it was hard to get in and out of the shower (tub). The plaza across the street is not very pretty, however, we had a nice view from the 7th floor. Even from the 7th floor, you could see mountains in the distance. The upper floors had even better views! The supermarket next door was so convenient. The main train station of Barcelona is at your doorstep. You are not in the most heavily touristed section of the city by the Rambla, but it is an easy subway ride away. The beds are hard, but this seems to be common in Europe. You can walk to Plaza Espanya, and the magic fountain show. In short, i would have no trouble recommending this place, and would love to return to the wonderful city of Barcelona, and stay at Torre Catalunya again.

Best Location & Good service

Great Hotel. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. We had a corner room on the eleventh floor with great views. The location was easy to access most of the main attractions. The beds were a little hard to sleep on. The room and bathroom was a great size and fairly clean. I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay there on my next visit to Barcelona.

Overall, this is a great place to stay when visiting Barcelona. It is located within walking distance of everything we needed; shopping, parks, restaurants, train station, taxi stops and the subway. For 6 euros the subway offers 10 stops to anywhere in the city. This came in real handy for us. For 3 euros the train will take you to the airport versus 40 euros by taxi. The hotel gave us a great view of the city 16 stories up. The room was clean, service was good and the shower was big and roomy. I will defiantly stay here next time I come to Barcelona. The negatives are that they are little more expensive than other hotels nearby and closet space is limited. The hotel is built for business trips rather than a vacation resort.

This is a great hotel. Its not in paseo de la gracia; but you aren't dolling out tons of money either. It's still in a great neighborhood near Plaza Espana and right next to a major train station as well as regular bus service and sightseeing bus service very close to the hotel. So you don't have to go far to be connected to transportation. It's a great value. It has large rooms compared to the standard European size room. The hotels is clean and up to date and modern. To top it off the staff is extremely friendly and extremely accommodating. They go out of their way to make sure you are really happy. When I go back to Barcelona this is where I will stay again definetely!

What a great view from the top of the hotel of all Barcelona. The breakfast was extra but worth it. Parking was confusing, because my husband did not realize that you had to drive on the side walk to get to the parking lot which was extra as well, but expected. The rooms were very nice with a very nice view. My husband almost got robbed in front waiting in the car for me to check into the hotel, but not to listen to the scam. A guy tapped on the rear of his car and told him to get out of his car that there was a problem, but my husband said to wait until I returned to talk spanish to him, but the guy left. We felt safe at this hotel and took the subway from the front of the hotel to go to the center each day. My daughters and I also enjoyed the spa services hot pools for 6 euros each. It was relaxing.

Stayed here 2 nights mainly because of ease for train travel to and from the airport. I was thrilled to walk out of the train station and see the hotel right there, yet I didn't hear any train noise in our room. Staff was great, I asked and they upgraded our reservation to an upper superior room at no extra charge. The view was great over the city. Getting to the main tourist area of Las Ramblas was only 5-10 mins by train. Rooms were clean, bathroom was the largest i'd ever had the pleasure of having on vacation. Room was nice and cool which can sometimes be an issue with energy saving AC in european countries. I'm also used to north american standards for hotels, and this was suited to a more american hotel in terms of size, amenities, etc. Beds were super comfy and had great sleeps. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, I will definetly stay here again when I am in Barcelona!!

Stayed at Torre Catalunya for 5 nights and I had zero complaints. I had an issue with the pillows being too big, so one of the staff members immediately brought comfortable pillows to my room.The staff spoke english and helped us out a lot. Rooms were clean and the bathroom was huge. Hotel is located across from the Barcelona Sants train station that took us to Stiges beach and to the old city of Girona. Metro was 1 block away. Only 5 stops away from Las Ramblas which is heavily crowded. Torre Catalunya was a perfect quiet location.

The room was fine but the location and the fact the hotel wanted to charge for everything like the gym and pool left us disappointed, The £16 for breakfast was a joke when the superb food in the city was much cheaper.

The staff was so helpful and the room was comfortable and the 23 floor dining was a great view of the city.

We arrived at the main train station in Barcelona and after a long flight, was so happy to see that the hotel was right outside of the building. Our flight arived pretty late thanks to the incompetence of Luftthansa Airlines, but the staff at the hotel greeted us with a smile and welcomed us graciously to the hotel. Our check in was fast and they provided us with a great deal of information throughout our stay. Their recommendations for shows and places to eat were wonderful. We used the Hop-On-Hop-Off buses to get around the city and see the main sites and used the Metro and trains for everything else. All three bus, trin and Metro were right at the Sants Barcelona station right outside of the hotel, so it is a wonderful place to stay if you are a tourist. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed with great views of the city and a nice buffet in the morning on the top floor which had even better views. If I return to Barcelona, this would be the hotel for me!

The proximity to the Sants train station and the very helpful staff are two reasons why we would recommend this hotel. It was also extremely clean and the rooms were comfortable with great views of the city.

It is important to check whether the price includes breakfast. Since it was clear my breakfast included in price when I got to the hotel it was not so and wanted to charge us. Price also using the Internet is a high price rather than logical.

It's hard to find a Hotel in Spain with a gym. The rooms are big and comfortable. They are located next to the metro, bus, and train stations. I was there when there were protest in Plaza Catalunya and when the Barcelona team won the Champions league. You don't want to be downtown during those events. Barcelona is one of the best cities on Earth.

It's right outside the Sants Estacio (main railway station). This station has a train that takes you to the airport. It's also walking distance to Catalan Art museum and MontJuic where they have the olympic stadium. It's not close to the Gaudi places or Las Ramblas but there's a metro stop right outside the hotel so you can take a metro to all of the other places in Barcelona. The hotel is quite nice and fancy. The rooms are average. The TV is old school and the reception is quite poor. I'd like to think that the hotel of this class should have flat screens and satellite reception. They give wi-fi free only for 15 mins and if you wanna use their computer in the business center, its only free for 5 mins. Breakfast is quite expensive so I'd skip it. Rooms are decent size (quite big by euro standards). Bathroom is nice and big. The customer service is excellent. We arrived in our room with a big bottle of complimentary champagne waiting for us since they knew we were coming for our honeymoon which was nice of them. Over all, a pretty good hotel for a decent price.

The hotel overall was great and provided exactly what we were looking for. The bathroom was much larger than expected. Full size shower and full size tub with 2 sinks. The only thing wrong with the room were the beds. They were terribly hard. Other than that the room had a magnificent view of the city on the 10th floor. When booking make sure you ask for a corner room! Being directly next to the train station made it very easy to get to the airport. Don't use anything from the mini bar, there is a market just down the street. Their mini bar prices are way over exaggerated! Internet service was good except that it was confusing as to how to purchase it. Overall, it was a great room and extremely clean. If your American and are staying in a European hotel for the first time, just put your key card in the slot next to the door for power to the room! yea that was new for us.

I would definitely recommend Torre Catalunya to others who visit Barcelona. Lovely attitude from Staff. Especially at reception.

Had a fantastic time. Location was just brilliant, 3 euro in from the airport on the train. The hotel is right beside the train/metro station. It is only 3 or 4 stops (10minutes) into the city centre. Really would recommend this hotel to all. The service was great, they recommended great restaurants and were very friendly. You save loads of money on transport. Didn't have breakfast or dinner in the hotel but I'm sure it would be good.

The Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya is an excellent choice to stay in Barcelona where the main station to catch the Renfe trains to other parts of Spain is next door to the hotel as well as accessing the Metro subway lines to any part of Barcelona is just a few metres away from the hotel. We would definitely choose to return to this location when we return to Barcelona. The restaurant serves an excellent buffet breakfast and the dinner is also superb with a fantastic view. The room is comfortable, clean but small in size. The service is excellent whether it is at the reception desk, the concierge, or the restaurant.

The hotel is conveniently located to the central train station and metro station of two lines which will bring you to most of the touristic sites and airport. Breakfast is good. Room very spacious and clean.Would stay again if visit Barcelona in future.

This is a first rate hotel-beautiful views, big rooms, nice bathrooms. To me it was worth having to take the metro to get to Las Ramblas and other attractions. There is a hop-on, hop-off tourist bus that stops near the hotel, as well. (about 30 euro). The one drawback is a 5 minute limit on free wifi-even when no one is waiting to use the computers. This was rediculous to me. It was about 20 euro for wifi to the room.

Upon checking in, I immediately liked the hotel. The receptionist spoke great English and took time explaining stuff that was actually useful rather than a sales pitch. Location is dead opposite Sants station, and close to Metro at Sants or Tarragona. Whilst the hotel is some distance from the gothic quarter and coast, it is a nice area and the Metro takes you where you need very quickly. Our room was an executive suite on 14th floor with fantastic views. Room was well appointed and very clean. The view from the restaurant on the 23rd floor is worth viewing by day and night, fantastic!

The staff were incredibly helpful throughout and provided some of the best customer service I have ever experienced in a hotel of this grade. Whilst convenient for the train station and metro (and great for visiting Sintre), it is though some distance to walk to the city centre.The hotel was very good value overall and exstremly good for its type.

This hotel is pretty clean and our room was fairly good sized. It is right next to Sants Estacio (train station) and a big supermarket next door. It's clean and comfortable enough (all tile, no carpet, though). Only two negatives: 1. we booked a King bed and were given two twins because they ran out; and 2. the sliding door to the bathroom was broken and hard to use. It's a 10 min metro ride or a 45 min walk to Rambla and other central areas.

The hotel is very modern with a great view of the city especially from the higher rooms. The room are quite large and airy with plenty of wardrobe space. The bathroom is large and has a separate bath and shower. We did not have the opportunity to eat in the main restaurant but the lounge on the ground floor serves a good lunch at reasonable prices. The location of the hotel is very convenient to visit all parts of the city and surrounding countryside as it is located beside the SANTS railway station through which most of the metro lines run

Staff is nice, location is good, just 2 min walk to the big station Sants so that easy to go anywhere in the city. Room is big compared to other Europe hotels. BUT our room has no view at all, just can see the opposite rooms. Another pitfall is there is NO hot water facility (kettle etc) so everytime we have to order hot water from house keeping.

Enocuntered a host of issues during our stay which were so bad it prompted me (a person who never bothers to leave reviews) to warn the masses; * Double bed was actually 2 singles pushed together that proved to be far from comfortable * Room service menu out of date and the updated menu we had to personally request offered little choice * Failed to replace tissues and other adhoc items as part of daily clean * Turkish bath was not a Turkish bath.....more a sauna made of ceramic with a pungent odour. * On the subject of pungent odours there was an unpleasant odour as you entered and exited the Hotel * Staff tried to convince us to pay an extortionate amount per day for internet use but also failed to disclose that it was free if used for under 5 mins (found out myself on the last day of visit) * Spa area was unmanned throughout our stay * Gym area was tiny and poorly equipped

Hotel was ok, clean, location not far from main points of attraction. Close to the train station and local bus stop. Breakfast was good, american style buffet - pls at an additional cost, very scenic view from the restaurant. Nothing extra special for the price.

Great deal at this hotel . Train station across street to take us to the airport. Great views. Ask for a high floor for the best views. Would stay there again

This was a nice hotel convenient to most places we wanted to go by public transportation. Across from train station, so if traveling to another destination by train, would be quite convenient. We requested a superior room, which was a very nice large corner room. One major problem we had was there was music festival going on at a park outside our window all four nights we stayed 8/25 to 8/29. Latin music so loud, our room actually vibrated!! Started about 4 PM, stopped at midnite the first 2 nights, but Friday and Saturday, went on til early morning..at least 4 am! . I complained to front desk, they offered earplugs, which I did try and was able to get some sleep the first few days, but the weekend was just way too loud. Went to front desk and complained that I should have been notified at check in that this was going on, but clerk told me it was up to my booking agent to have notified me (which was hotels.com) . The last night, they did offer me a room to sleep in on opposite side of hotel with no charge. Wish I would have done that earlier. Not sure if this is a once a year event, but would definitely advise checking it out prior to booking if you want to sleep at all (which most of us want to do on vacation.)

the bed was hard but that was the only bad thing. great location, next to a major metro station about 3-4 stops from Las Ramblas. you cant really walk to major atractions, too far for that. They charge extra for using the gym, sauna and pool :-(
