Grand Canal Hotel Dublin - دﺑلن

Grand Canal has the bare bone basics. I'm tall and was unfortunately given a room with two twin beds. I had to push the two together just to fit. Service was friendly. Good pub/restaurant downstairs. Wifi in the hotel was good. Room was clean, but very very small.

Good location close to Dublin City Centre

I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel; it is conveniently located, easy to get to from the airport, it is very comfortable and clean. It has a mini shop for snack needs throughout the day, the gasworks bar staff were fabulously attentive. The rooms we had (2 for our party) were immaculately clean and very comfortable. The breakfast available for purchase was good, but I think I might opt for the served breakfast instead of the buffet. This hotel is a very short taxi ride into the city center, which makes it very convenient. I will definitely be making this a stop when in Dublin again.

This hotel was selected based on its proximity to the Aviva Stadium, which is very close. It is also close to a Dart train station and the Airport Shuttle bus route. The room I was given was a special disabled room so it was spacious but with reduced facilities in the bathroom. There was no hot water available on either morning of my stay and when I reported the matter I was told that was normal because everyone took showers in the morning at the same time; implying it was my own fault! The front entrance is used by smokers and when entering or leaving the hotel non-smokers have to negotiate a cloud of cigarette smoke maintained by the smokers who crowded around the front door. This was rather unpleasant.

Stayed for the show & woudl recommend to a friend as the location was good and the Disco bar good fun on return form the show.

My boyfriend and i booked ourselves into this hotel earlier in the day. When we arrived, they said they had not checked their emails yet and asked us to wait 25 mins whilst they found our booking. Which was fine, as we just waited in the bar and were not in any hurry. When they came to give us the key, they were apologetic. We went to our room to find 2 single beds in the room, although we booked a double. When i rang reception she said that you don't get a choice unfortunately. I informed her that i had requested a double bed on the booking. She put me on hold for a moment, then apologised and said she would be moving us to an executive room. We were more than happy with this. We arrived in our new room and proceeded to get ready for a night out. As i was getting dressed, i heard the door opening and another couple walked into the room with their bags. They apologised, looked embarrassed and walked back out. I informed reception who said they were very sorry again. The bedroom was also very very warm and stuffy, with no air-con and windows that only open an inch. Overall, not a great stay, but the staff are very friendly and helpful! Also the hotel was in a good location for us. We stayed at this hotel once before, a few years back and it was fine, so maybe we were just unlucky this time. I would stay there again though.

The location of this hotel was ideal for our purposes - I needed to be in Mount street for 09.00 and I wanted to bring my car and not have to pay for parking. So all boxes ticked on this front. The staff that I encountered (reception and bar) were all very pleasant and check-in was complete in about 30 seconds. I think we also got upgraded to the executive floor - which was a nice touch. The decor of the hotel is ok but getting a bit dated and worn in some places. It's very functional - it's a place for a business trip rather than a romantic weekend The room itself was a good size - we had a couch, armchair, desk and table so there would be plenty of places to sit down and relax if you're on a shopping trip as well as store all your bags. There were bathrobes in the room, which is always a nice touch but no shower cap. There was a funny smell from the bathroom but once the bathroom door was closed, we didn't notice it too much. The bed itself was comfortable but the pillows were not to my liking - flat and hard. I like my pillow a little squidgy. The main issue was the heat - it was like a furnace in the room with the radiator on full blast and the only means of controlling it was to turn off the radiator. Opening the window during the night is not ideal as we were at the front of the hotel overlooking the road - there is regular traffic on this road. The uncomfortable pillows and heat lead to a poor nights sleep for both of us so I'd be uninclined to stay here again.

I have stayed several times in The Grand Canal Hotel and would recommend it as a very convenient place to stay if you want to bring your car to Dublin. I arrived early at just about 1 in the afternoon and was able to check in straightaway and leave my car safely in the car park. It is just over 10 mins walk from the hotel to Grafton Street so it is ideal for shopping and sightseeing. A shuttle bus runs from the hotel to the Grand Canal Theatre most nights which makes a trip to the theatre very easy. They offer Theatre packages which seem to be good value although I had booked tickets independently. We ate in the bar and the meal was fine as was the breakfast the following morning. I think the Grand Canal Hotel offers excellent value for money.

Get an upgrade to an Executive room - very comfy and well spec'd

Had an overnight stay in the Grand Canal Hotel as myself & my husband were going to see a show at the Grand Canal Theatre. The location was perfect. The hotel was comfortable and noise-free (big plus). We were spoilt for choice with breakfast the following morning. The only drawback I would see with the hotel is that they don't have a restaurant. Other than that we had a lovely stay.

Very close (less than 1km) to Landsdowne Road Stadium for international Soccer and Rugby matches. Very close (100 metres) to the D.A.R.T. station for, am, D.A.R.T.s and some trains. There's a supermarket around the corner and it's not a bad walk to the city centre (25 minute stroll / 15 minute quickstep).

Excellent service from the staff. Our room was clean and comfortable. This hotels location is excellent! 2 mins from a DART giving you the freedom of the city via DART/LUAS. Only downside would be the Gasworks bar restaurant, its a bar... that serves a very average barfood menu. I was disappointed with the quality of the food but the hotel itself, Including breakfast was excellent.

If you want a walking around Dublin hotel, convenient and clean, this is it.

Excellent location. About a 15 minute walk to Stephen's green but on the doorstep of pubs, cafes and restaurant areas in the quality south Dublin suburbs. Modern, functional yet extremely comfortable hotel.

I REALLY ENJOYED MY STAY. THE STAFF WERE SO HELPFUL.IT WAS SO CENTRAL FOR ME. I ENJOYED IT SO MUCH THAT I HAVE REBOOKED IT AGAIN.

the hotel was very comfortable and the staff very friendly food excellent

I had a brief but very pleasant stay, the hotel staff were incredibly helpful and kind, going out of their way to make the stay comfortable and hassle free, The hotel was a pleasant walk into town, at least 15-20mins. The only downer was that my room, although very comfortable and clean smelt of stale smoke.

The location is close to work and not in the noisy area. Clean place and spacious. However, the main street in front of the hotel can be pretty loud and busy for the rooms facing it. I would highly recommend to change the room if possible. I did and it made the rest of my stay very pleasant.

Basic but very clean hotel. Staff very friendly would definitely book again

Good value for money .Staff were very friendly and obliging .Evening meal deal in resteraunt was very good .Definitelt would return.Thanks you all in the hotel for a lovely stay .

While away from the city center, the hotel is very close to theaters, trains, the River Liffey and other venues, and one can easily take a bus into the center area. It offers special packages for event goers and the price is quite reasonable for the area.

Excellent hotel, more like a 4* than a 3*. Customer service was excellent, executive rooms spacious and clean. Restaurant very nice and the convenience of the friendly Gasworks bar attached to the hotel. Walking distance to O2, RDS and Temple Bar. Highly recommended.

our stay was good but not luxurious or scenic. It was also not so close to downtown area but close enough to river. No complaints but no recommendations either. It was clean but not fancy or extra comfortable. The cafeteria was pricy.

This hotel has a great location with good facilities and the most welcoming friendly and helpful staff ..it's good value and had free parking.

This Hotel and the room we received was the best of our 3 City Honeymoon!! Great location short cab ride to the heart of Dublin but walking distance through a nice-upscale neighborhood to basic needs.Beautiful veiw-nice friendly service. Just wonderful. Our first stop was London and that was horrible. But Dublin, Ireland and the amazing people are worth comming back too. Thank You so much we will never forget this. :) The Brewers

This hotel provides you with everything you need at a very very reasonable price. Rooms are clean and comfortable, albiet no frills. It can get a little noisy if you are facing the street, but it's a very minor problem. It's a 15 minute walk from the city center. There is a restaurant and cafe attached to the hotel. There is also a great laundry service. The staff is extremely helpful and wonderfully friendly. I stayed here off and on for a total of ~1 month in 5 different room and never had a bad experience.

Pros: Room was clean, modern and comfortable. Beds were firm and comfortable. Price was reasonable. On the negative side, the internet connectivity was almost unusable in the evenings, which is a problem for a business hotel. Also, I asked for a wake up call and taxi on the day I checked out. I never received the wake up call and I don't think the taxi request went through either as I ended up catching a taxi on the curb.

Great hotel, great location. Good food, reasonably priced

This hotel was wonderful! Very modern and about the closest thing to an American hotel that you will find in Europe. It had a normal shower which is extremely rare, and the rooms were VERY nice. The only bad thing about it is that it's farther away from the center of town and takes some walking or a ride on the metro to get to the popular places in the area. Great hotel!

For a small property in a neighborhood far off the mainstream, it is very tight, classy, clean, friendly and modern like hotel. The only major thing I noticed on my one night there was how disgustingly filthy the workout facility was. The cardio/weight room was loaded with pretty good equipment, BUT was so dirty I could not stay in it very long and had to swab anything I touched down before I even came close to using it. It had not been cleaned in weeks! Other than that, it was a nice experience. I moved onto a different hotel due to location and pricing options.

Hotel was fine - comfortable and nice linens. Location was not central - but you already know that before making a reservation. Easy but long walk into central Dublin. The hotel does not have air conditioning. This is probably fine the majority of time. But my stay was in August and it was warm enough to require an open window. First, the window only opens a crack. Next, all of the rear rooms are under an area of trash and bottle collection for the pub. (Noisy). And a picnic table for the workers on break. (Smokey). So I slept in a stuffy, warm room with the window closed.

I stayed in this hotel because it was close to the location of a meeting that I had for work. The hotel was very comfortable, reasonably priced and the staff were very efficient and helpful. Had a continental breakfast in the morning which was very nice and fresh. My room was at the front of the hotel and on the third floor and it was a bit noisy when the window was open from the traffic on the street below. This is a very convenient location for the city centre and the parking facilities were convenient.

Hotel in good location 15 mins from city centre. Quiet and good secure carpark with is free of charge. Disappointed with room as quite compact and no fridge. Also difficulty understanding receptionist and restaurant staff. Breakfast ordered by us but order not relayed to kitchen which resulted in 30 min delay and food very greasy. Is a good hotel and bar food excellent, but again hotel staff difficult to understand.

Came for business and it was convenient for that, given the location. The bar was lively enough. The beds were a bit droopy in the middle and my room was a smoking room (I'm surprised these even still exist). Everything was adequate. 3 of 5 stars is accurate.

Clean, quiet, comfortable, with reasonable rates. Exactly the place that helps a visit work out outstandingly.

We booked this hotel at short notice as we were visiting our new born grand-daughter and her parents at a nearby hospital. Location is ideal,hotel offers very good value in clean comfortable surroundings.Secure off street car parking is available and the hotels' linkage to the adjoining pub restaurant "Gasworks "offers guests additional choices without having to leave the vicinity. Excellent value for money and very well run hotel.

Our room was lovely and surprising large for Europe. The bed was great, very comfortable. The bathroom was lovely, tub shower combination. iHome in the room was a lovely addition. The only downside was our heater never really heated the room. It was literally freezing outside, even snowed, while we were there (around New Years) and the room was very cold the entire time. Overall, great room especially for the price.
