The Inn San Francisco - سان فرانسيسكو

I'm generally not a bed-and-breakfast fan. However, this place was very very nice. The owner, Marty, showed me all around the place. With great pride. My room was very interesting. The hotel was one of the few places that survived the great fire of San Francisco. Only one addition would've made my stay perfect. The pillows. It would've been nice to have Down pillows. But no matter, it's worth this stay plus, by the way, the breakfast one of the best ever.

We were so impressed with this hotel. It was an old 1800s mansion which had been converted to a very boutique hotel and we were blown away by not only how comfortable it was but also by the history and intrigue of the property. The room was very well appointed from the super comfortable duck down bed to the two person jacuzzi. The owner and staff were all an absolute pleasure and we enojyed staying here immensely. Definitely recommending this hotel to our friends and friends of friends who are traveling to the US.

First-time stay. Loved: full-blown Victorian ambience, complete w/ fresh flowers, decanters of sherry/port, candlelight all-day; pumpkin pie on breakfast buffet (Thanksgiving weekend); sociable, interesting fellow guests/repeat visitors who shared many "don't miss" destinations/activities; NYT; courteous, helpful staff; innkeeper's doggie. Didn't score all 5's because feather bed incompatible w/ aging back and gritty-but-cool neighborhood is a slight trek to transportation. Not a destination for those who can't climb steep stairs, however. Will return.

If you are looking for a hotel with character with a super location in the middle of the lively mission district (relaxed, and hip and full of restaurants and bars) this is the place for you. The owner is very personal and spends time talking to the guests, the rooms are lovely in Victorian style full of antiques. The breakfast was excellent and the staff extremely helpful.

Why is this hotel only 2.5 stars? It is probably the most unique hotel I have ever stayed in. The main Drawing room of this Victorian beauty is sumptuously decorated as is the rest of the hotel. In this room you can relax with classical music, whilst reading some gorgeous books. This is also the same room where you will indulge in a generous breakfast and enjoy a late evening drink. Or you may choose to do this in the lush garden with the spa or on the roof garden. Each room is a visual delight and one feels that you have come home. This beautiful place stands out as a welcome to all travellers, many of whom as shown in the guest book, return again and again. Thank you to The Inn. Highly recommended.

From the street, the Inn San Francisco looks like just another beautiful Victorian row house in the Mission. But once we stepped inside we were stunned by the spaciousness, the beautifully furnished sitting rooms (with complimentary sherry and cookies!), and the incredibly helpful staff. Our room, a double bed with a private bath, was on the third floor - the narrow staircases and lack of elevator might be a deterrent to some travelers. But after our hike upstairs we were met by a cozy, beautiful room with a luxuriously deep bathtub and possibly the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Breakfast the next morning was the real deal - fresh quiche, cold cuts, fruit, a dozen varieties of pastry, delicious coffee. We were tempted to extend our stay so we could spend more time at this fantastic hotel.

I will be coming back! The personalized experience, great detail, warm atmosphere, great roof-top views, and strong value are hallmarks of this hotel. DQ - Denver, Colorado

The Inn San Francisco is absolutely outstanding. Period. The two gents who run it, Marty and...um...the other guy whose name I am ashamed to say I've completely forgotten (I'm sorry, Other Guy!), are incredibly friendly and helpful and make you feel welcome right from the start. The house itself is gorgeous and fascinating--apparently it's an old farmhouse that the city grew up around, and it was built in 1870, which means it survived the 1906 earthquake. The "cozy" designation on the rooms equals a bit less space, but I had plenty of room for my things and myself. The two-bed rooms are *huge*. The place is immaculately clean and, best of all, the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in in a hotel! Also, the breakfast needs to be mentioned. I've stayed in B&Bs all over the world, and this was by far the best breakfast value I've had in the States. A ton of options--cereals, pastries, tons of fruit, cheeses, cold cuts, oatmeal, yogurt, and best of all, the quiche. You really get your money's worth with the breakfast, and it never gets crowded or runs low, AND it lasts until 11 for late risers (like me). There's only one real drawback--the location is a little bit inconvenient. It's just far enough from the BART trains to make the hike a bit of a challenge with suitcases (fine without them though), and the walk to the MUNI trains is pretty long. But SF is a walking city, so big deal! One final thing--several people have mentioned the neighborhood being unsafe. Total fallacy! The neighborhood is a mix of Hispanic immigrants and young professionals. It probably appears unsafe to suburbanites on vacations, but as a New Yorker who knows from unsafe, the neighborhood is FINE. In fact, parts of it are absolutely lovely--tons of restaurants, shops, bars, etc. and very artsy--lots of public murals, bookstores, and the like. If you explore it, you'll get to see a whole different side of SF from Union Sq and Chinatown. Check it out!

A gorgeous old victorian, beautifully renovated outside, and faithful to its time period in furnishings inside. The breakfast is fabulous, the beds very comfy, and the staff friendly and accommodating. The only word I can think of to describe the decor is "sumptuous." Staff is excellent with suggestions on restaurants, sightseeing, walking tours etc - better than the finest hotel concierge. The innkeeper has a personality that can't help but leave you smiling.

Hotellet ligger sentralt i mission i en gammel viktoriansk villa. Alle møbler er antikviteter, og tross få stjerner byr dette hotellet på masse unikt; friske blomster på rommet, koselig stue med gratis kaffe, te, portvin, blader, aviser, frukt etc. Frokosten er veldig koselig i stuen med masse deilig oppskåren frukt, pai, bakevarer etc. Av de bedre frokostene jeg har opplevd i USA med hyggelige omgivelser. Deilig takterrasse med utsikt over hele byen og bakhage med boblebad. Det eneste jeg ville vært obs på at de billigste rommene er ganske små (f.eks. rom nr 20), og har en queensize seng som er litt på kanten til to voksne mennesker. Ellers kan jeg helgjertet anbefale dette hotellet med hyggelig service og sjel!

Tolles B&B mit lässiger Dachterrasse, liebevoll eingerichteten Zimmern und einem Gastgeber und Personal mit viel Herz und Gastfreundschaft. Wer sich über die Umgebung beschwert, muss sich vorher schlau machen. Die Mission ist nicht Königstein, sondern ein Stadtteil voller Leben mit unterschiedlichsten Kulturen und mit massig Subkultur. Tolle Clubs, Galerien, kleine Läden und lässigen Cafes und Restaurants.

Besonders ansprechend in diesem stilvollen Bed and Breakfast im viktorianischen waren die Dachterrasse mit traumhaftem Ausblick auf die Stadt, der romantische Garten, das individuelle Frühstück mit wunderbarem Obstangebot und die Lage in untouristischer Umgebung.

The Inn San Francisco er en fantastisk Bed and breakfast som ga vårt opphold i San Francisco det lille ekstra. De første nettene i byen bodde vi inne i sentrum på et upersonlig hotell, mens resten av oppholdet vårt tilbrakte vi på the Inn i Mission. Vi ble tatt imot av en fantastisk betjening: eieren Marty og hunden hans Marshmellow. For 20 dollar ekstra per natt fikk vi en oppgradering til et nesten kongelig rom, med eget uteområde og et deilig bad. Hver morgen ble det servert veldig god frokost i stua, til klassisk musikk. Til middag tok vi med oss fantastisk mexicansk mat (masse av dette i Mission) og et par øl tilbake til hotellet og spiste i den fine og frodige hagen (som også hadde en hot-tub vi benyttet oss av). Vi er et relativt ungt par, og the Inn er ikke et partysted. Det er rett og slett et slags hjem i et hipt og kult område. Hvis du vil ha SJEL og følelsen av å komme hjem etter lange dager med utforsking av byen er dette stedet å bo på!
