Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C. - واشنطن

We have just passed a delightful Friday night at The Mandarin Oriental. Our request for an upper floor was immediately granted with an upgrade, and the room was perfectly appointed. The bed could not have been more comfortable, and the shower/bathroom was perfect. Our water view was to the east, away from The Jefferson Memorial, but interesting none-the-less. Tea and cocktails in the lobby bar were followed with a brief stroll along the Marina Walk, obtained through the hotel garden and across a footbridge within steps of the property. Upon our return, we dined in the Sou'wester: Susan and I both selected the She Crab Soup followed by Scallops. Our son chose the Miso Soup and Pork Bellies. Desserts were ample, and the atmosphere both casual and intimate. We found our way to The Martin Luther King Memorial after bidding our son farewell, and enjoyed a warm, Washington evening before settling in for the night. Although our complementary newspaper would not arrive before our departure, we were offered the Desk's personal New York Times, which was happily waiting for us upon our return to Long Island. I would gladly return to The Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C., and intend on exploring some of their other properties, as well.

The Mandarin Oriental is a high quality hotel. I think the DC hotel is just a little bit tired. The furniture in the common area needs an update, the room decor needs an update. The bed and bathroom are 5 stars but the rest is not a 5 star hotel.

We were curious from the photos; the hotel looked nice. It was even more wonderful than we had hoped. Best shower ever in a hotel (warm water, great water pressure!) Dinner at CityZen was fantastic, one of the best meals we have had in DC. The staff was well trained and had excellent manners. Despite being a large hotel, there was a sense of personal attention.

The hotel was wonderfu. It is in a corporate area so nothing is open on the weekends. I think $50 parking is overkill for the area it is in. Especially on the weekends.

The Mandarin Oriental in Dc was wonderful the staff was very warm and friendly the Hotel's decor was beautiful. The location was perfect the room was well appointed the bathroom was the icing on the cake. Great hotel will definitely be a returning guest in future trips to Dc.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Mandarin Oriental. The staff was very nice and helpful. It is a little bit tucked away but thought of it more as a hidden treasure.

Our family had an excellent stay at the Mandarin Oriental over the holidays. The beds were comfortable, the rooms very quiet, and the shower fantastic. It was an easy walk to both the metro and the museums. The front desk and front door staff were very attentive, especially Phillipe. I would like for the hotel to have offered free Wi-Fi. Other less prestigious hotels we've stayed in have offered Wi-Fi; certainly for the cost of staying at this hotel this amenity could be offered. My only other negative comment is the service in the restaurant was slow and breakfast was pricey.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel was spotless and the location was very convenient for seeing all of the sights. Service and facilities were also very good. Last time we were in DC we stayed at the Willard while we attended a wedding and this experience was as good if not better. Highly recommend this hotel.

My wife and I chose this as a local getaway for our anniversary weekend. We found the highest level of service at the Mandarin Oriental, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Room service was top notch as well. We only regret not booking spa services ahead of time, as they were already booked on the day, and were not able to accomodate out schedule. We'll be sure to plan ahead next time.

Loud phones in nearby rooms to 4 am. The worst part were the cargo trains every hour or so. The entire room vibrated and was loud as heck. Do not recommend this hotel for the high price. Stay closer to the action also.

My wife and I spent our second anniversary celebration here. this place is awesome!

The people who work at the Mandarin were attentive and took good care of us during our visit. Overall a nice place, and a comfortable bed. I was a little disappointed that the pillows smelled funny/dirty since we spent so much money to stay there. This is a nice place to stay if in D.C.

A lovely hotel. $12.00 taxi from the north side of Capitol Hill. Exquisite location. Service like none other.

It was expensive, but, if you want to be near the sites, it is the place to stay. it probably would not have changed my mind, but I wish Hotels.com would have told us that the parking would be extra, ~ $50.00. At the price we paid, we could only afford the one day, we but made the most of its luxury. The TV receiption was poor, freezing at times. The room was quite, comfortable, and the dark curtains were great for sleeping in.

This hotel was perfect. The location allows you to walk anywhere in DC! We were there for a special occasion and the staff sent chocolates and a bottle of champagne to our room for free. Would highly recommend.

Situated in an office park this hotel doesn't live up to the Mandarin Oriental brand.

The hotel and staff were about as personable and helpful as any I've ever encountered. My wife had a mediocre meal in the hotel's less expensive restaurant - we did not like that the hotel charged $15 per night for internet access, while it is free in so many others - otherwise the hotel was one very high point of a "couples" short visit to Washington DC for a tour of art museums

I been in many places before this was my first time in DC and if I ever go back this would be the Hotel I would like to stay. If you don't have money don't stay here cause is pricey but is an excellent hotel. One of the managers (Alexander) made us feel at home very polite and very helpful. The bathroom is really beautiful and is very CLEAN place if I was to recommend a hotel this one would be my first choice. THE BEST HOTEL!! Totally LOVE, LOVE and LOVE this place. THANK YOU Mandarin Hotel!!

From the service to the decor this hotel is perfectly clean and everything is of the highest quality. It is excellent.

WAS MAGNIFICENT, ONE OF THE GREATEST HOTEL I HAVE EVER BEEN , THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR STAY SO COMFORTABLE

Our stay at the Mandarin Oriental was great! Our flight landed at 5am so I was unsure if they'd let us check in so early especially since I hadn't requested an early check in, but they did. After our overnight international flight we truly grateful that they we able to accommodate us. The service at the hotel was exceptional. My family and I look forward to staying there again.

I have never been treated so well, from the time I entered the hotel until we left. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. We brought our parents with us and were close enough to walk to the must see sights with them. Thank you for an amazing stay in DC.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel. The service is superb and the rooms are wonderful.

Everything was wonderful!

Nice room, courteous staff. Upon entry to the room the A/C unit was making a loud ticking noise, which was resolved by maintenance. Was complementary "upgraded" to top floor for view, which was somewhat hindered by a scaffolding hanging from the roof and very dirty windows. Neighborhood is a dump, nothing goes on after 9 PM, and it doesn't feel safe to walk around in.

Hotel is close to Maine Ave, just a pedestrian walk away from Phillips Seafood if you don't want to dine at one of the hotels restaurants. But if you're looking for breakfast on the weekend, you'll have to dine-in. Food was delicious. It's located in a business neighborhood and all starbucks are closed on the weekends because the businesses aren't open. Even the CVS that is across the street is closed at 5pm. If you want to shop, you'll have to take the metro. Valet parking was $49.

Right from check, greeted with warm towelettes and mini stuffed animals for my young kids. Room was immaculate. Quick room service. Whole family enjoyed indoor pool which welcomed kids till 9pm. Couldn't navigate DVD so staff tried to talk me through it on the phone, but when I still could not get it, they sent an engineer to help right immediately. Great night sleep on beds that were like clouds. Just thought valet parking was a little high but we ended up using the car three times in the one day we were there, so having the car brought to entrance as we needed was not so bad. Would definitely recommend to others as well as return.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. It was fairly close to the Mall area, within walking distance. Restaurants are further away and we needed to take a taxi. Facility is very nice but restaurants are more high end which we found difficult with younger kids. Best to plan on eating elsewhere and skip the Tai Pan upgrade unless you are interested in drinking beer and wine. Pool and spa are also very nice.

Very welcoming hotel in the heart of DC. Great SPA and jazz. Staff is friendly and rooms are very comfortable. Great spot for both business and leisure travel.

One of the best hotels in America. Great service, close to Reagan National, beautiful views, amazing bathroom/shower/tub, perfectly comfortable bed, and a great venue for a wedding reception. I will stay here every time I visit DC!

we travel for new year, thehotel is close to everything, the spa services were good, concierge specially Alex were very nice..they got us tickets for the basketball game..our child was safe, happy and we spend great time.....
