At first glance, American visitors might think Rex Hotel's rates exhorbitant, but Stockholm's room rates are generally comparable to those of NYC. Rex is ideally located with a helpful and friendly staff, and stylish rooms. The complimentary breakfast would easily cost a quarter of the nightly rate or more for 2 people at a local coffee shop. I will definitely book there for my next trip. Small, privately owned, a great home base for your trip.

The hotel was pretty much at the top of our budget so we were looking forward to some comfort and we were not disappointed. Te room had wooden floors which I loved as there was no well used or dusty hotel carpet. Breakfast in the courtyard was lovely. Watch out for bogus taxi drivers, we were ripped off by a taxi we took from the station. Make sure you use the taxi queue.very helpful staff, even if you have to go across the road to find them.

Nice breakfast. Location was not bad. Room was very modest. If you your room is overlooking the street, it can get quite loud because of occasional pedestrian and car traffic. I wouldn't stay there again. Little comfort, but OK if you are trying to save money.

I have never stayed in a smaller room. I had to block the bath room door to be able to open my suitecase. Minimal amenities. Very good Swedish breakfast. Warm boiled eggs otherwise only cold cut. No radio alarm clock in the room. Strange framed photos in the hallways. I found some disturbing.

Hotel was lovely and reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but that was not an issue for us.

Very friendly and helpful staff, location great for walking to sites without being in the middle of the tourist activity, room really quiet and cleaned daily... no complaints here!

This hotel is a curious mix of the good and bad. The good: very helpful and professional staff, quiet neighborhood, and extremely convenient location. The bad: TINY double room and poor breakfast. Two walls of the bedroom were bare concrete and the other ones were properly finished. It looked as if the room had been renovated halfway. The only illumination was a small desk lamp, a small, LED overhead light and a small reading lamp on each side of the bed. The room was always dark, and the reading lights were so far above the bed they were useless. The bed itself was truly uncomfortable. It was the cheapest sort with no support for the mattress at all--essentially a piece of junk with stapled slats that would be found in a thrift store. Finally, the breakfast was truly the poorest I have had at any hotel in some time. It can only be described as meager, cheap, depressing, poorly prepared (unpeelable soft-boiled eggs), and poorly presented. It is apparent that management does not want to spend any money or effort making the Rex Hotel as good or comfortable as its other property across the street. It is the "poor sister." In summary, if you are willing to put up with a sad, small, uncomfortable room and a depressing breakfast in exchange for a good location, then you might be o.k. here. We managed to survive the experience, but I can't say we enjoyed the stay.

Excellent breakfast to welcome you every morning; easy access from the airport via train/bus and subway; not too far to walk to the main attractions (ie Old Stockholm, Vasa museum etc). Rooms are modest, but you don't really need much if you are out exploring all day. I'd come back!

This is a great option. The single rooms are small, but well done and comfortable. Great breakfast, good staff, and right around the corner from the T-bahn.

We recently stayed at the Rex Hotel for 3 nights, and in the expensive world of Stockholm hotels, this was a pretty good option for the price. It was neat and clean, and it is close to the T-bana (subway). It's only 2 stops from the Central Station and a couple more to the Gamla Stan (Old Town), and the daily complimentary Swedish breakfast was great and a cost saver. However, when they referred to a smaller room with a queen bed, they weren't kidding. Our college sons got the regular room with 2 twin beds, and we got the petite "queen" room - the room wasn't much bigger than the 2 twin beds that created the "queen" bed. They did provide us with a fan when we asked, and they gave us good advice for dining and shopping. They also arranged for a less-expensive taxi for our departure to the airport, but our wake up calls never came - ouch! Thankfully I had set a travel alarm for the early ride to the airport. The majority of guests were college age (including those staying in the Rex Petite Hotel in the basement of our building), so try to avoid a room that faces the street - it was pretty noisy with the window open at night.

We stayed at the Rex for a week and it was everything and more we expected. The staff were very helpful, polite and friendly. The free bean to cup coffeee in reception is real bonus, the breakfasts are fantastic and most importantly the beds are really comfy. The Wifi is free, but didnt work too well in the rooms but the staff again were very helpful : it turns out there is a cable connection in the roomand cables can be provided: maybe best to take your own. We loved Stockholm and this hotel played a major part in this.

We were very pleased with our stay at this small very clean hotel. It is in a tastefully refurbished older building on a quiet side street in a upper middle class neighborhood near the center of Stockholm and only a block away from the main subway system on which the central railroad and bus terminal are only two stops away. Also there are several first class restaurants in the vicinity which the staff will point out to you. The floors of rooms and corridors are of new highly polished wood and the walls freshly painted. The rooms and bathrooms are comfortable although a bit, but not uncomfortably small , as in most European non-luxuery hotels. In particular, the bathrooms have been rather stylishly and expensively redone and the rooms have a generous amount of storage space, a writing desk and two chairs. There is free internet access in each room and a flat screen TV with the BBC channel. The breakfasts are generous and served in a pleasanr solarium or in warm wearher on a patio. The staff are youthful and very fluent in English and are very knowledgeableand helpful. The complaint I have is one with all Scandanavian hotels in that a guest must sleep under a duvet (comforter) that is incased in a sheet like a pillowcase. For some people this is too warm, even in winter and one can rarely get a hotel to provide a regular sheet and blanket. Another complaint is the absence of a blackout curtain or shade to prevent one from awakening at the 4:00 AM sunrise in the Summer.

Rex Hotel is clean and quite. we enjoyed staying there. The service people are very friendly. The location is great. It is easy to access most places in the city. Overall, we think that it is worthy to stay in this hotel.

Nice hotel overall and the staff were always friendly and helpful however it is the 21st century so I was disappointed that the wifi only worked whilst sitting in the lobby which was inconvenient. If I had to pick a fault with the room, the bathroom always flooded due to the design. Seems to be common in Scandanavia??

I read the reviews of the Rex before I booked, and I found them to be very accurate. Sure the room is small, but there is a nice courtyard and a big room for the morning breakfast. The T-Bana (the underground transportation) connects right around the corner from the hotel - buy a week long SL card - and some bus stops are nearby also. Plenty of resturants and bars nearby, and you can get to the old town real fast on the green line of the T-bana if you want to go there. (I was at a conference at the University, and bus 70 takes you right there in <15 minutes.) I highly recommend this hotel!

Excellent value for money, and very helpful staff. The rooms are very small and there isn't much space to hang clothes or to work.

Good small hotel in a great location - close to metro station and only 20 minutes walk from Gamla stan. Free internet and very friendly helpful staff. Recommend!

This hotel provides a very good value in a very expensive city. The hotel is clean, well appointed, and well managed.

We enjoyed every aspect of our stay at the Rex Hotel. lt is cosy and pleasant, clean and well kept.The staff is polite and ready to help.There`s a free internet, also coffee and tea to refesh oneself after the day in town. Our room was a small double, which was ok for the five nights we spent there.Only the wardrobe could ba a bit bigger.The bathroom is clean, warm and there`s a touch of luxury in the shape of stone wall tiles.The quality of the food served at breakfast is satisfactory, though a choice is a bit limited for a longer stay.The location of the hotel is perfect. Good neighbourhood and less than ten minutes strol to the city centre. We would definitely stay in the Rex Hotel again.

The Rex Hotel was truly a terrific place to stay. After traveling for more than 18 hours we finally arrived, albeit much later than check in time. The receptionist was expecting us and knew my name. Without much hassle she led us up to our room, which was warm comfortable and extremely clean! We stayed during the Thanksgiving weekend (November 26-30) when it snows in Sweden and it was a terrific time to be there. While it is extremely cold (we're from Los Angeles), it is a very festive time to be there. There are Christmas markts in old town and everything is nicely decorated around the city. By map, the hotel location may look a bit far away from everything, but it isn't. It took us literally 15 walking minutes to get from the hotel to Gamla Stan in the snow. We bought 16 subway stripes for the both of us during our stay but we only used up half of them. Finally, a word about the breakfast--it's traditional Swedish, with freshly baked loaves and rolls, sliced meats and cheese and tomatoes and cucumbers. They also have cereal, jams, soft and hard boiled eggs. I loved it. It was plentiful and a great way to start the day. They also have coffee, espresso and tea available throughout the day and night. At that time of the year, Sweden isn't open for business very late, but there are pubs, a Tunnbrodsrolle stand around the corner, and a 24hour McDonalds not too far away, and a 7Eleven which are everywhere in Stockholm. The hotel is immaculate. Very very clean. I am a germphobe and I did not worry at all while there. All in all, we had a terrific time! Thanks Rex hotel! Tack!

I stayed at The Rex Hotel for 3 nights recently. The single room is small, but is perfectly comfortable. The staff are very helpful, and it includes a free breakfast, something that you don't typically find in Europe too often. In Stockholm, which is very expensive, this is a great deal. The neighborhood is quite convenient as well - easy to walk just about anywhere, and also there is a subway stop a few blocks away.

Helt ok! Trevligt och mysigt hotell med bra läge. En liten detalj som är så lätt att åtgärda är att ta bort de fläckiga fåtöljer som fanns både i rummet o i korridoren, drar ner helhetsintrycket.

Bodde här 1 natt i enkelrum. Det var fräsch, snyggt, väldigt fin toa/dusch men väldigt litet rum. Säng var nog i te mer än 90 bred.

Et hyggelig lite hotell med personlig preg, fin frokostsal med meget god frokost og kaffe. Gode senger. God beliggenhet i gangavstand fra sentralbanestasjonen, Gamla stan, Stureplan, Drottninggatan, Kulturhuset, Dramaten m.m

Rummet var väldigt litet och trångt.

Det var ett väldigt mysigt rum, och ett bra läge! Det som tyvärr drar ner betyget är vårdpersonalen inte var helt engagerade. Inte otrevliga, men lite mer hade jag velat se!

מלון נהדר במיקום מרכזי, נקי ושקט. קרוב לתחנת מטרו (4 דקות הליכה). חדר גדול עם חלונות ענקיים (לא מתאים למי שהאור מפריע לו בלילה). צוות חביב. בהחלט מקום לחזור אליו בפעם הבאה בשטוקהולם.

Miinuksina kadulta aamulla tullut melu (2./3. kerros kadun puolella), liian pehmeä sänky sekä liian korkea tyyny. Plussina ehdottomasti hieno ja kodikas huone, hyvät palvelut (käsittääkseni ilmainen tietokoneen käyttömahdollisuus ja tulostaminen), hyvä aamupala sisältyi hintaan myös. Sijainti oli luettavissa keskustaksi, mutta hieman ehkä syrjässä. Tunnelbana-asema olisi ollut kyllä ihan vieressä.

Ganska snopen när jag kommer till hotellfrukosten och inte hittar knaperstekt bacon och äggröra. Att inte erbjuda denna klassiker är lågt och borde finnas med i informationen vid bokning. Avsaknaden gör att hotellet rasar på upplevelse skalan. Tråkigt och ganska onödigt.
