Hadn't ever heard of the Affinia hotels before, but it was a great place to stay near Grand Central. The room was very large by New York standards, with a refrigerator and sink and updated bathroom with great shower. I'd definitely go back.

Stayed at Affinia Shelburne for 5 nights -good location, walking distance to Empire State Building, Grand Union Station and Macy's - took subway and cabs to other locations. Arrived at hotel just after 6pm and our two rooms were not ready (check in was 4pm). Had to eat in hotel bar whilst we waited over two hours for one of our rooms to become available. However apart from this "blip", all other aspects of the hotel were fine, although some paint peeling off in bathroom, scuff marks on walls etc, however this is a busy New York hotel, so this is to be expected. Good breakfasts in Rare bar and Grill and Amy (Concierge) went above and beyond in making reserversations for dinner, etc. All staff really helpful and friendly and the area was very safe - we would stay again.

Very nice little hotel. The location is great. The facilities are awesome. The staff is friendly. The only issue I have is, the heating and cooling in the room. Not sure if this is a NY thing, but the room is too hot. The vent had a sign that said, when the outside temperature is above 65 degrees, the vent will blow cold air. Else hot air. That was not cool, since we were very hot in the room at night. Other than that, I would highly recommend this hotel.

While the Shelburne was fairly nice, I expected more for a "boutique" hotel. To start with the positives, the hotel lobby looks very nice and the staff is very helpful. The rooms have been updated, so there is nice furniture in there. The neighborhood is in a great spot, little quieter which is nice, but still walking distance to times square, and short taxi ride to the village, uptown, etc. The cons however were that one, they don't have central air and heat, that is to say, not air and heat that you can properly control from your room. There are Thermostats in the room, but the entire hotel has 3 modes, heat, cool, or neutral. So if your room is a little warm but the hotel is on heat or neutral mode, that thermostat is useless. Same deal the other way around. Kind of tough because with all the rooms in different places, some rooms could have different temps than others. So that was a little annoying. Secondly the rooms are fairly small and the bathroom was tiny. Most of the views out the windows are looking at other rooms, not anything else. To finish it off with a positive, the connected restaurant is Rare, which is a nice bar. I think overall if you get a good deal on this place, it's a fine place to stay, but I personally don't think i'd stay there again unless it's $150 or under, just because I think there are other possibly better choices in the same area.

This hotel is located in Murray Hill just far away enough from the craziness of midtown, but close enough to the subway. Plenty of great bars and restaurants a block away on 3rd. I arrived 4 hours before Check In and was able to get a room early without any problem. After checking out they held my bags at no extra charge for a few hours which was a huge convenience. This is my new go to hotel when I'm in the city.

Close to Grand Central Station, the Empire State Building, and a lot of great food!

This hotel is a comfortable stay that is very close to Grand Central Station, the Empire State Building, and Madison Ave. I highly recommend this hotel.

The Affinia Shelburne is a great hotel for your money. Greatl location, spacious, friendly staff and extremely clean. I highly recommend this hotel.

I have stayed at the Affinia Chicago and loved it, and my experience now has been wonderfully consistent with this boutique chain. The staff here is very polite, helpful, and accommodating. Our room was on the 4th floor, and I appreciated how spacious the room was given my expectation of the standard hotel room size in New York. The bed was very inviting, but luckily my eagerness to wander around the city kicked in. They have a variety of pillow options ranging from hypo-allergenic to memory foam. The bed was very comfortable and I love the scents of the Philosophy toiletries set that they provide. My only complaint was the need for softer towels. There is only free wi-fi in the lobby where you'll have to bring your device down - otherwise if you want wi-fi in the comfort of your own room there is a $13.95 fee. There are a few computers down in the lobby as well, but the only printing that can be done is for airline boarding passes. You can make your own LaVazza coffee in your room. We got a great deal on our room as well. I'm thinking about coming back here the next time I come to NY for a visit.

Close to resturants, subway, lots to do. Nice hotel for the money. Clean, safe and comfortable. Rooms are small in NYC and this is no exception, but was nicely appointed.

nice hotel, bit expensive for quality, could hear everything and anything going on in hotel, woke us up a lot (must have been a sing contest in town or something...) nice enough but wouldn't stay again...

Loved the location, the rooms were well appointed and very clean. The staff could not have been better.

The service was warm and attentive and the room was comfortable. Pleasant stay...

We were very happy with the accomodations. The room was quiet, clean and pleasant. This is a good location, close to Grand Central Station. Great staff.

Quiet enviornment; old but family-like atmosphere. Quite comfortable.

Located in midtown, this hotel is located on Lexington, so it's not quite as busy as Park Ave which is nice. Very easy to travel to other parts of town via subway or taxi and because it's in midtown part of manhattan, it's usually a short trip no matter which direction you're going. Hotel staff is friendly and the rooms are a nice size at a reasonable rate. I also just stayed at the Waldorf Astoria and for my $$$, I'd pick the Affinia Shelburne as it's better and cheaper, rare combination.

Modern , clean , pleasant and in a perfect location best good deal back to affinia to be able to take a drink on the roof probably a nice view on NY

We spent 8 nights at the Affiinia Shelburne and we were extremely happy. The room was more spacious than expected in NYC and the cleaning and general housekeeping was of a high standard. The location is also fantastic, easy walking distance to the Theatre district, Times Square, Madison Square Garden, Grand Central Station, Empire State Building. A good part of town with lots of good quality restaurants within a short walk.

My family and i are just back from the affinia shelburne after spending 6 nights there. We booked a suite and it was well worth it as it was huge on new york standards. There was a separate living room with a king size sofa bed which was comfortable. The bedroom had a huge bed which we got lost in every night. The neighbourhood was lovely near nice bars and eaterys especially nice was Scottys 24hr diner where the food and service was great. Overall a very good hotel for the price you wont be dissapointed.

Great location, friendly staff and very clean

Love this Hotel and Murray Hill Location! Going back in May for Pleasure with Family and new Grandson:) The ONLY issue can at times be the temperature of room based on its age-----a one pipe system--either AC or Heat is commanded by the overall temp outside. BUT, The windows open and if you request a room in the back of hotel, it is super quiet.

Went down with wife and 4 kids. We purchased 2 rooms because they were suites and I must say we were not disappointed. The rooms were large enough to accomodate us and the hotel itself had a wonderful atmosphere. The staff was excellant. If I had one complaint it would be the bathroom in our suite was extremely small. Tough when you are there for 3 days like we were. Overall great hotel and the price was excellent.

We stayed here for an anniversary celebration. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was very tidy and close to many of the great sites of New York a very short walk to Grand central terminal, so if you wanted to go Downtown or further along Midtown you could easily jump on a 4,5, or 6 train. Close to lots of great restaurants and bars. We breakfasted most days at Bloom's Delicatessen a very short walk from the hotel, great service and a huge and lovely selection for Breakfast or Brunch. I would throughly recommend this hotel for short break and especially if you are not familiar with New York.

The only negative comment I have is that the rooms are not very sound proof, and you cannot adjust a/c or heat your self. Our room was very hot at night and we woke up sweating every morning.

This hotel is on a great location if you need to stay in Manhattan, not far from Grand Central. Very good value for NYC. Small but well appointed rooms, clean and modern. Welcoming and warm staff. In room internet is relatively expensive.

Busy hotel just blocks from Grand Central station. I would definitely stay here again.

Short walk from where Megabus dropped us off. Nice lobby. Upscale room. Everything seems new and clean. Big rooms. Couldn't hear anybody in adjoining rooms. Wish I could have found a cheaper and less quality place but since I paid for it, I definitely got what I paid for. They let me check out late at 1 PM upon request. Sent up safety razors. Everyone was very nice. Definiftely highly recommend

My wife, stepson and I spent 4 nights at the hotel. On arrival our room was not ready so we had to wait a couple of hours to get in, they did though hold our luggage whilst we began exploring the city. We had booked a suite but they gave us 2 rooms with an internal door, so our son got his own room! Which at 8 years old is pretty impressive. The staff were polite and the rooms are a good size for NYC. The housekeeping was very good as were the amenities. The only downside was the lack of a hotel bar, as the bar in the restaurant was small and crowded. When travelling with kids a hotel bar allows you to have a pre dinner cocktail without worrying about having a child in the bar. That said it is just a minor point but it did effect our stay. All in all good value for money in a great location for Grand Central and the Chrysler building, 2 of the best buildings in NYC. We would recommend the Affinia.

At check-in was greeted very warmly by friendly, helpful staff. The room was nicely appointed, and well stocked with goodies, and mini-bar. Bathroom was sleek, and had a modern feel, plus there was an ample supply of fresh towels and plenty of toiletry. Had a bite to eat at Rare, conveniently located at the hotel's entrance. Though I didn't have their famed burgers, there was a gentleman at the bar who confirmed in no uncertain terms that his was quite good, nodding repeatedly just how good it was, including the fries, as well. Too bad I was dieting at the time. Darn! At any rate, the Affinia Shelburne, in my opinion, offers its guests an above average experience due to its over-all consistancy with regard to creature comforts and friendly atmosphere. It's very conveniently located midtown, and I wouldn't hesitate for a moment recommending it to anyone who's looking for convenience, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, comfort, value, and last but not least, some real good, stick to the ribs, tasty food! Cheers!

Everybody was Courteous. The room was Clean. the Bathroomwas very clean, a big Plus for me and my wife. Just a great atmosphere.

Had stayed in the Murray Hill (Midtown East) neighbourhood before so knew that the location was great and would be safe for a woman travelling alone. I really couldn't fault the Affinia Shelburne in any respect. Reception staff were friendly and helpful, as were the doormen. The room was clean, bright, comfortable and spacious, including a couch. Nice touch in the bathroom was the illuminated make-up mirror. The hotel's 'Rare' Bar & Grill (highly rated) was very convenient and very good. I ordered room service from it one evening and was impressed by the speed with which the order arrived to my door. That said, there are lots of other places to eat nearby - when I arrived the receptionist gave me a map and list. the hotel is only one block from 3rd Avenue which has some great bars and restaurants. plenty of good diners also nearby for breakfast. Nearest subway at 33rd St. Easy walking distance to Grand Central in one direction and Empire State Building in the other. Hotel was very reasonably priced and much better than others I have stayed in in NYC which have cost more. Would definitely go back and would recommend to others.

Enjoyed the location, and the beautiful new look of the renovations.Lots of restaurants in the neighborhood. Easy acess to airport transportation.

We put great stock in the reviews we had read, and upon arrival at the hotel, we were so glad that we had! The location is terrific--so close to everything we were interested in. The restaurant serves absolutely delicious food, and room service is prompt and cordial. The room itself was beautifully appointed and the bed was super-comfortable. Absolutely nothing bad to say about our stay, except that it was too short!
