There was an issue with our room having booked through a website but the staff were really wonderful in sorting out the issue and ensuring we were completely happy with the alternative arrangements.

Stayed for one night! Room was small but adequate! Lovely hotel and food

Right on the riverfront - views of the river, docked boats, ducks on the water - the peace of a slumbering midlands town around about... well worth a visit and stay. Grand hotel with beautiful room.

Disappointed with room as it was dark and looked out on a wall. Expected to get view of Shannon. Also it was too hot no matter what we tried to do with heating/air conditioning. Otherwise, food excellent, breakfast excellent and service/staff excellent.

We stayed 2 nights in a suite (double room) with our 2 children. The room was spacious and clean and we had 2 single beds in 1 part and a double bed in the joined other part of the room. It had 1 bathroom, a fridge and 2 TV's. The hotel is in the centre, on walking distance from plenty shops and restaurants on both sides of the bridge. The swimming pool and the sauna are great; hotel size and not too busy - great with children.

Stayed in Radisson Blu Athlone last friday night. Friendly staff, really nice hotel. Our room was spacious, clean and over looking the river Shannon. I hate to find fault on such a nice hotel but try and improve on breakfast. Quality and choice just not fitting for a 4 star. Overall I enjoyed stay and will return.

My family and I were at a wedding in Athlone and reserved 3 rooms in the Radisson for overnight stay. The entrance lobby is so modern and spacious. The bedroom was beautiful and comfortable and the decor was very tasteful. Breakfast was great the next morning. Bernie, Co Kildare, Ireland

Due to a mix up our rooms were not as requested on arrival. This was sorted out straight away and we were up graded to a lovely suite over looking the river. Staff were very good and no request seemed too much trouble. Overall a very good experience on a very busy public holiday.

We had a lovely few days here, but the room was a bit cold and we had a baby with us. We had a joint room for baby which was great, lovely room but majority of room plugs were not functional with 'normal' plugs! Staff were very friendly and great help. They brought a heater to heat room a bit more and brought up plug extension for laptop. Great location, great shopping nearby and food was lovely. Breakfast was excellent and the pool was very warm. Overall we had a great time. Baby was very happy!

I stayed in this hotel recently and I found it so comfortable, clean and location was perfect. The breakfast was delicious with a great choice of foods. I have absolutely no complaints and would highly recommend this hotel.

The Hotels location was excellent, rooms were very clean but slightly cramped. The food was very basic, their chips were frozen reheats and not as described in the menu. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

My family and I stayed at the Radisson on a very busy weekend in Athlone as the Community Games finals were in full swing and accommodation hard to come by. The rates were exceptionally reasonable and were not hiked up. The food was top quality and had a very nice menu that also caters for coeliacs. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to all my friends and hopefully I will have cause to stay there again.

Staff very helpful. Whole place spotlessly clean. Food very satisfactory, well presented. Liked the fact that the sourcesof their raw materials for meals were stated on the menu.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Radison Blu in Athlone very comfortable beds also both beding and towels were all spotless towels soft and fluffy just as I like them. Only downside for us was no jacuzzi, however very minor thing when you had perfection all around. Breakfast was super and lots of it, nice and warm. Staff on the desk were very friendly and helpful both Irish girls which was good they understood English perfectly as recently some of the hotels we have visited desk staff do not always.

We visited Athlone for a family wedding and stayed here because we couldn't get into the hotel where the reception was held. We got a good price and the room was very well looked after and probably pretty new, as was the whole hotel. Public areas and bar are really lovely, open, bright and with a view to the river from a big deck. However, there was a feeling throughout that nobody really loved this place, nothing more than what you need, for instance, there was no information in the room about services, pool, breakfast or restaurant hours. The arm chairs in our room, though nice, clearly were from somewhere else and were out of place. Maybe this hotel is in NAMA, unloved, but staying in business. We had coffee and excellent scones at the bar, good pleasant service. Breakfast was pretty good with cold and hot buffet, though a bit sparse, maybe we were late. Check-in and out was very efficient and friendly. The only serious downside was that there seemed to be a disco or event going on when we returned to the hotel Friday night about midnight. Some very drunk people at the entrance, smoking and arguing. Our room window opened onto the space over that entryway so we eventually closed the window to shut out the noise. Poor night's sleep in an airless overly warm room. It didn't feel like a Raddisson Blu.

Pleasent hotel, room a bit too hot for me. Noise from smoking area at front of hotel very noise until at least 2.30am best to get a room far away from front of hotel.

Stayed here for one night in July, requested a double bed but got to the room to find 2 single beds..rang reception who said they would push the 2 beds together. Discovered then the safe in the room wasn't working, rang reception again and they said they would send someone up - waited 30 mins and nobody arrived, rang reception again and still nobody arrived. In the end we had to leave our valuables in our room and head out for dinner as we would have missed our reservation. Arrived back to the room at 1am to find the room keys wouldn't work and we were locked out! Small glitches but enough to put me off booking this hotel again. The only saving grace was the quality of the breakfast the next morning, it was included in the room rate and there was a good buffet with plenty to choose from.

Stayed 2 nights at the Raddison Blu with friends great location. Great hotel friendly staff and very helpfull. Food in the bar was lovely didn't eat in the Restaurant. Breakfast great choice of food We did River Cruise got free tea/coffee, lovely lady kept us entertained on board singing and playing the guitar. Sean's Bar oldest bar in Ireland/Europe great bar anytime of the day or night.

We had such a nice receptionist, we were concerned about the security of 2 bikes we had on the back of our car and she facilitated us ihn the underground carpark and relieved our concern.

!On arrival room fine but not enough milk on hospitality tray. Had to go down to the dining room and ask for milk. Next day the room was unserviced ie beds unmade, nothing replaced on tea/coffee tray and bathroom supplies not replaced, so had to buy soap and coffee next day. Public areas were fine and service here was excellent. Would certainly stay here again

found the hotel very clean service in bar & restaunt very good. when we book the hotel the said we have a safe in the room their none when i asked i rang about it i was told they get back to me still waiting. when i booked the hotel i book a double room to get a two single beds in the room when i told recption they put in a doble bed

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Car parking was difficult this weekend because of an Irish Dancing Feis being held at the hotel. The breakfast choice was excellent and the location of the hotel was superb.

Conveniently located to Shops Restaurants and local Pubs. We paid for an up-grade to a river view room which was well worth it - but we were told that we would receive a daily newspaper as part of the up-grade but for the 2 days we were there we got no paper, but we did have breakfast delivered on one morning to our room and there is a charge for that but the hotel didn't charge us. Staff were very pleasent, food was good in the bar we didn't eat in the Restaurant. Breakfast was good except the hot breakfast it is badly laid out and you would be waiting a long time. Make sure to visit 'Sean's Bar' the oldest bar in Europe, we had a great night there and one of the locals told us there is music 7 night a week during the summer months. We are planning to go back to Athlone with friends.

Thanks to all the grand friendly staff and their support. which made the holiday run very smoothly. very comfortable hotel with a wonderful view over the River Shannon and very centrally located. Rooms great as was the service at breakfast and dinner. Only one small issue i.e. could have greater menu choice.

Nice hotel. Had a long wait for food (1hr after ordering) Shower aternated from hot to cold. Was disturbed at 5am by other hotel residents smoking outside the hotel door. Appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and making excessive noise.

was expected at reception and all formalities was completed very fast as was checkout...no delays at all.location was excellent and hotel gym and pool/sauna was good as was breakfast spread.good and friendly staff all around...will stay here again. another big thing...ample parking and free for guest!!!

The hotel iteself was very nice. The rooms are spacious and clean, the front desk staff were very helpful but however the service in the bar was appaling, They seemed to be very short staffed as it was near impossible to find a waitress to take an order. The food was slow to arrive and below par for a 4 star hotel. I was given the wrong meal and told a member who said she would check it out but never bothered coming back to me! Also one staff member was very ignorant when i asked nicely could we order food , I was rudely informed that she would be back if she got a chance. This was the 2nd year we stayed in the hotel and on both occasions the service in the bar was terrible. It is a lovely hotel that is right in the centre of athlone but if going- eat and drink elsewhere!!!

We saw a good deal on hotels.com so headed to athlone for 2 nights stay. THe hotel was located very centrally so was convenient to go out for dinner/drinks without having to get a taxi. We ended up being there for Bank holiday weekend so not much was open shop wise, but from previous experience in Athlone it's a lovely weekend break. The hotel was lovely and clean and the room was superb. Berakfast was wonderful with great selection of fresh food and beverages. Only issue was the nationwide water issues (no fault of the hotel) which meant water tasted a bit odd and tea in bar was awful. Staff looking after breakfast were particularly well mannered, helpful and friendly.

ITs the perfect best hotel, i really enjoyed the location of the hotel but it will be best in summers and i would like to visit this hotel everytime i go to Athlone. Once again i will recommend its the perfect place to stay.

excellent on all counts. Perfect central location on the river bank. Can oot fault the service in anyway. Will highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a weeend away

Enjoyed our stay here, including yummy nuts at the bar and great patio outside the bar looking onto the R. Shannon. View from the room looked onto a wall 3 feet away! other than that room was very modern and clean.

Great location, fab room, modern decor!

Lovely hotel

I enjoyed my stay apart from 5/6 people I assume smoking outside the front door at 3a.m. and with their language and shouting/laughing they woke me and I couldn't get back to sleep for a long time, also the room next door to me that their TV on and turned up VERY loud, I could hear every word. I suggest that the smoking area is moved from outside the front door to stop the noise.

I was looking forward to staying in this 4 star hotel. however my room was far too hot. we did get a fan from reception for our room however that made if difficult to sleep as it was noisy and the room was still too hot. when we told hotel staff in am they asked if we had a fan, when we said yes they then asked was ther anything charged to the room. they did not once apologise re the inconvience of the temp in the room..

supposed hot breakfast was cold.tea served from huge teapot by waitress going from table to table.and was tasteless.morning paper not complimentry which is bad form for a four star hotel.Would not stay there again
