It was a very nice hotel but a little expensive for no breakfast included. They also did not have a shuttle to the airport before 5:30 am. I had to take a bus which worked fine but an additional cost.

I travel in Europe a lot and generally rent homes to avoid European hotels. But the Holiday Inn near the Athens airport is a true exception! The room was HUGE; the bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on with very high quality sheets and pillows. The bathroom was huge with everything you need. Every inch of the room was spotlessly clean. The hotel was a little further away from the airport that I had thought it would be (I think it was about 12-15 km, not sure exactly) but no worries. All you have to do is call the hotel from the airport, and their free shuttle will be there within 20 minutes to pick you up and take you back to the hotel. Otherwise, it will cost you 50 € to hire a taxi one way! The staff was exceptionally professional, friendly, courteous and helpful. The restaurant is very nice, and the bar is also comfortable and professional. I travel to Greece frequently and I wouldn't think of staying anywhere but at this Holiday Inn given this experience. I highly recommend it!

I have stayed at Holiday Inns all over the world and this is the most luxurious of any. It would compare favorably with much more expensive hotels.

I strongly recommend staying at another hotel close to the airport. When we arrived we were starving and wanted to eat at the hotel restaurant. We were first told that it opened in 10 minutes at 1:00. We waited 10 minutes walked into the restaurant to find out it was booked for a private party and wouldn't be open for 90 minutes. I thought that we could just go to a restaurant in the neighborhood. There are no restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel and absolutely nothing to see or do. The hotel front desk recommending taking the hotel shuttle to the airport to eat a casual restaurant. Well we had no choice. The food was just that airport food which was better than waiting 90 minutes. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant and were deeply disappointed in the food! The indoor pool's temperature was cold so we couldn't even go swimming. In addition, I feel that wireless internet should be included in the price of the room. We stayed in 9 hotels in our 3.5 week vacation in Greece and this is the only one that charged for wireless internet!

Hotel was great, some issues because of people scrambling since there were missed flights related to airr traffic controllers slowdowns. Major problem was Hotels.com had wrong phone number, and it wasn't clear that hotel was reached by taking tool road a couple exits up from airport.

10 minutes from international airport, if staying prior to departure can take metro to airport and hotel shuttle to hotel, then shuttle back to airport for flight; wakeup call provided as requested, hot coffee available at 5 am, everything as needed

beware that the first shuttle is at 5:30 am so if your flight is earlier than 7:30 you'll have to get a cab (I think about 30 euros). also have to pay for internet in rooms which seems a little ridiculous considering the price of the hotel. On the plus side the bathroom is beautiful and the shower is great. The beds are also super comfortable.

Clean, new, modern, beautiful hotel. Loved the one night there. five star in my opinion.

We were very pleasantly surprised with the comfortable room and high quality service. We will definitely stay at this hotel every time we have an early flight out of the Athens Airport.

Just needed a place to stay before catching an early flight the next morning. Check in was smooth and friendly. Staff all spoke English. Greek Salad and Cheeseburger very good. Beds were comfortable. Free shuttle to airport.

Shuttle worked well, rooms clean. Dining experience and food only average.

Since we had a car, it was great to stay someplace that had available free parking. The hotel was somewhat close to the airport (about a 10 minute drive). The hotel was beautiful! Large rooms, unfailingly excellent service, and very nice dining room. Unfortunately, we had to leave before breakfast was served.

The hotel itself is very nice. A few things you need to know before booking though... 1) It says "airport" but its actually a bit of a drive away from the airport. There aren't many hotels right on the airport (I saw one), and there isn't much close to the airport, so this is one of the closest, just be advised its not walking distance or anything. 2) The hotel has a free shuttle service, but it stops running at 11 pm. If you come in after that, you are probably taking a cab, and it involves a toll road. When we took a cab in August 2011, it was 29 euros. Didn't figure on it being that expensive, so it was a bit of a surprise. 3) When you get to the hotel, there are a couple of things that are fairly expensive that you should plan for. Internet access is 13 euros a day. Breakfast is 17 euros per person. We declined to pay that much, but from what we saw it was a decent looking buffet style breakfast. I would stay there again, now that we know about the shuttle, etc. It was all kind of surprising after a long day of travel and a midnight arrival.

Due to the taxi strike on mainland Greece, we needed a hotel close to the airport which offered shuttle service to the airport. The Holiday Inn met our needs. I was amazed at how nice this hotel is; it offers virtually every conceivable amenity, and is in top-notch condition. The hotel staff were extremely helpful, courteous, and professional. In addition, their command of the English language is, I realized, better than mine. We only stayed one night as we were returning to the states after a long stay on the islands. This is a superb hotel in every respect, and is nicer, in my opinion, than some of the best hotels in the USA.

Airport shutle was great and very convienent. A bit of a bummer that the pool is indoor and there is no outdoor sitting area. But the gym is standard and nice that they have it. Room was satisfactory. Nothing special but clean and good-sized. Friendly staff and bar-tender. I'd reccomend this to anyone that has to stay in Athens and wants to be near the airport. Not good if you want to explore the city.

The hotel was up to holiday inn standards, the rooms were clean and fully equiped. I was able to use the internet for free, though it said I had to pay for it, not sure why. The shutte from the airport however only runs from 5AM to 10PM so late night and early morning flights are really inconvenient. Any flight much before 8AM and you have to take the public buses to the airport. Also, the airport was about 25km away which is a little for a hotel with the name "airport" in it.

Chose this hotel to accommodate easy access to airport during taxi strike. Pricey for what you really get. Think at those prices they could have thrown in the wifi for free instead of 13 Euros. Nice place but in the middle of nowhere. Convenient for airport and that is about all. Still fair drive to airport.

We chose this hotel because for last minute booking it was cheaper than the hotel at the airport. They do have free airport shuttle, but downside is it doesn't start until 530am, and we had to take a cab since we needed to leave earlier. It only was about 30 Euro, so still very good deal. The room was amazing. Beds very comfortable and very clean. The staff was excellent. They set up a taxi for us in the morning and arranged a wake up call. I would suggest this hotel to anyone who wants to stay near the airport.

Arrived at Athens Airport at around 10.30pm. Everyone grouchy and unhelpful. Finally found the hotel bus area which was a very long walk! The hotel number i was given was no good. Finally someone called the hotel only to find there was no bus. Back to the taxi stand with all the baggage. A 30 Euro taxi ride later we were at the Holiday Inn!!!!!!! Unsmiling people greeted us despite my efforts. However the room was nice and cheerful in aqua blue and white. Too far away along with their bus situation for an overnight. We will stay in the Sofitel AT the airport on the return.

Despite advertising a free shuttle to and from the airport, I had to pay an extra 40Euro to be picked up at 12:01 am...after the shuttle stopped running. No one informed of this before I made my reservation.

This hotel is also known as the Holiday Inn Attica Avenue, a fact totally confusing to our obviously new taxi driver. Not being familiar with the airport, we couldn't find the hotel shuttle. Having just traveled 26 hours, we didn't have the gumption to search or ask around. Alas, we could have saved ourselves 30 euros! (Probably this was way too high, but we felt sorry for the young fellow who had told us he waited 6 hours in the queue to pick up his first fare.) This is a gorgeous new property with a friendly, helpful staff. It's immaculately clean and absolutely comfortable, as well as being located about 10 minutes from the airport. Be sure to make a reservation on the free shuttle to the airport, as it was full when we took it.

Location is great for one thing, the airport. Terrible location for an Athens tourist. Rooms are 250% more expensive than they should be. There's a scam around the Athens Airport. Airport shuttle was great. Internet is ridiculously expensive and no in-room wireless. Only wired. Very inconvenient if you have an iPad. Rooms are ultra-modern. Swimming pool looked fantastic.

Very nice hotel with use of high quality fixtures in the bath and nice quality throughout the room.

The hotel was wonderful-- you get a choice of pillows which is nice, they even have motorized curtains. One thing to note is that it isn't as close to the airport as it might seem but they have a free shuttle so it's no big deal. We were picked up at 10:30 pm when we arrived and easily got a ride to the airport on the way back. My only complaint is their breakfast buffet is EXTREMELY expensive and there are no other choices. If you're lucky enough to have the Goody's nearby open, eat there, it's cheaper. The whole spaceship theme/decor is a little disconcerting, but everything is new and well kept up.

This was an overnight layover between flights in Athens. Nice hotel; wish we would have had time to stay and enjoy it. I would recommend! (One travel note:) The Cab ride there was expensive and then the cabbie wanted to shake us down for his toll expenses as well.

Figuring out hotel shuttle service was a bit complicated. Full explanation should have been given with completed reservation. Sofitel is right at airport and would have been more convenient to just walk across from airport terminal in two minutes. Holiday Inn is in middle of nowhere. There is NOTHING around! However, the room was very comfortable with all the modern amenities. Too bad they didn't have an outdoor pool to lay around during the day.

Can't say anything about the local area since we were tired and stayed in the hotel. However, transportation from the hotel to airport is totally dependant on the hotel shuttle or taxi. Bus/Metro are not accessable.

The hotel is nice. There is a free shuttle to and from the airport every 30 minutes. It's about a 10 min drive. There is an express bus right on the corner leaving every 15 min which goes into Syntagma (Constitution) Square. That took about 45 min. i stayed in both the Sofitel and the Holiday Inn gong in and out of Athens this year. The Sofitel was more luxurious and more convenient (no shuttle- just a few steps from the arrival area) but also expensive.

Worked for me for overnight when connecting with I ternarional flights. Shuttle pick up available. Use business center at airport to call hotel and get clear directions.

The cashers were RUDE, SNOBBISH. The maid acted she did not want to be bothered, so we kept away. Free 30 minutes. To get our boarding pass from the internet, after 13 minutes of use of the internet, my husband needed to get info about Passport Expiration Date. When he logged off, to go to our room to get the info, after only 13 minutes, he was NOT allowed any more use, unless we pay 5.3 Euros! Very rude staff, and very cheap .

A little spendy but very nice. Extremely comfortable beds. Good restaurant and bar. Location 8km from airport. Not exactly central to major sightseeing.

The perfect way to prepare to take a flight.... we chose this hotel as close to Athens airport as possible. The staff understands the need to have intelligent timelines, shuttle service and comfort... this is not a typical Holiday Inn (American) but a luxurious... escape with room enough to repack your suitcases.

This was probably the most luxurious Holiday Inn we've stayed in. The hotel can be reached in a few minutes from the airport by car or shuttle. From the hotel one can take an easy public bus ride (about 30 minutes duration) into the heart of Athens. The room was spacious, well appointed, and quite pleasant. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel if one needs to be near the airport.

Med tanke på de usikre forhold i Hellas med evt taxistreik mm var det en meget god løsning å overnatte på Holiday Inn. Shuttelservicen fungerte meget godt og standarden på restauranten var god.
