Gatsby Mansion Inn - فيكتوريا

Beautiful property, conveniently located. The property had just changed hands so it's hard to tell what will be improved. The restaurant was closed for remodeling and there was no desk clerk. We didn't see another person, guest or staff, the entire weekend. So it was like having our own private mansion.

We go to Victoria for a holiday every year. We have looked at the Gatsby many times from the outside and on this trip decided to stay there. Luckily for us we only stayed one night. It is a beautiful location, and looks elegant on the outside, HOWEVER, the hallways are smelly, in poor condition, and our room was FILTHY. There were cobwebs throughout the room and in the bathroom, coffee split on the wall in the bathroom, and a dirty bathroom floor. There were dead bugs on the window sills, need I go on. Upon check out, we mentioned our concerns to the clerk at the desk, and got a very uninterested "oh, I'll pass it on". We will not stay there again, EVER, nor will we recommend it to any of our friends that frequent Victoria.

Loved the location. I booked figuring we would stay in "the mansion"...we did not, I wonder if anybody does? It says "bed and breakfast", is breakfast ever included? On season/off season?-they should say so somewhere. No signs anywhere saying where to go to check in, we arrived at 3:00 in the afternoon and after wandering around the yard trying to find where to go, on the door of the mansion we found a sign saying it was "closed for the day", leads me to believe it was never actually open. Wifi was lousy, never did work. Room was ok, comfortable. If you are looking for a bit of a step back in time, then it's a cool place to stay. Don't expect much, you won't be disappointed.

Gatsby Manor is in a great location to visit the sights of Victoria. Everything is in walking distance. It's a quaint hotel. But unfortunately it could stand a bit of attention when it comes to overall maintenance of the building. It you can handle putting up with a bit of dust, a leaky tap and a musty smell for a reasonably price then I would recommend this hotel. Too bad this building hasn't been taken care of better, so much potential and so cute!

The Gatsby Mansion Inn is a beautiful accomodation remeniscent of a bygone era. It is conveniently located near the harbour with a breathtaking view. I highly recommend it. Donna

We enjoyed two wonderful days at the Gatsby Mansion Inn. The service was outstanding, and management and staff went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible and to provide us with information. We loved the warmth and unique heritage feel of this beautiful mansion as well as the quiet and peace. We also recommend to enjoy the exquisite dinner at the Gatsby Inn for at least one evening! We certainly will be back...great value for the money!

This is a comfortable hotel with the friendliness of a nice bed and breakfast. Everything was clean. Charming decorations and very "Victorian". If you can't climb stairs, I wouldn't recommend it as all the rooms are on the 2nd and 3rd story and I did not notice an elevator (I could be wrong). The hotel is right across the street from the Clipper ferry docks! FYI: If you go in the winter, Victoria pretty much shuts down around 5 so don't take a nap in that afternoon. That was my mistake.

Great location, friendly staff, good restaurant, close to downtown and port. Only problem would be a lot of stairs to the room if you have trouble climbing the old mansion stairs.

Hotel looks nice from the outside. That's it. Room was absolutely frigid upon arrival. No staff to be found except in restaurant. Old squeaky bed. Awful sleep. Antique furnished does not mean old and busted. Awful bathroom. Poor state of repair and comfort. Towel rack broken, dangerously slippery flooring.

A great place get away from the daily grind!!

Note that we stayed in the Judges building, not the main Gatsby building, but you don't get to choose when booking (or I didn't anyway...) They had to change our room because our reserved room hadn't been cleaned (it was 8pm!)... the room was fine, but I was expecting more from a Victorian mansion. The bed was not good. Every move produced a loud creak, and the mattress was average to poor. Four-poster beds don't matter if you can't sleep. Two antique chairs in the room didn't make up for the feeling that it just wasn't a comfy place for us to hang out and spend time. Thank heaven the weather was gorgeous that weekend and we didn't have to spend a lot of time in the room. The onsite restaurant was average-to-high priced, with decent food (not great), but we only had the one breakfast there, so maybe not a fair judgment. However, I enjoyed the omelet I had down the street at the Days Inn more than the Gatsby's...

The Gatsby was in a great location on the harbor, close to shops, restaurants and bars, with a nice view. It's a very neat, historical hotel with beautiful gardens outside. Our bed and linens were very comfortable and we had a great night's sleep. The rooms are definitely in need of a little overhaul though (e.g. carpet and paint), but overall, it was clean and comfortable. It has a very nice porch for having breakfast however they had no cook that day (or apparently the day before), so we had to go next door. This was a bummer because I was really looking forward to breakfast on such a beautiful porch. I do think it was a bit overpriced.

We'll definitely be back. Location was extremely convenient, great staff, and very clean and nice. Only recommendation is the hotel needs a much better bike rack in the locked garage.

We stayed in the Judges house, carpets and floors are old and worn. The bath/shower solution left the user with no place for soap or shampoo, except outside the shower on a shelf, the shower curtain was so long that it plugged the drain and the user had to stand on the curtain. The LOCATION WAS FABULOUS Check which room you are assigned to before you accept, our room had not outside air available in August

Great location, across street from Harbor and Ferry services. Within walking distance of good sightseeing and restaurants. Meals there were very good. Loved the atmosphere and decor of a turn of the century mansion.

We were really looking forward to staying at Gatsby Mansion Inn but were very dissapointed. We arrived at midnight and I had called to let them know we were checking in late but they didn't tell us they wouldn't be available to check us in .We were looking around to see where we were supposed to go and one of the workers from the Huntining Hotel was walking through the yard and we asked him so he directed us to the hotel and told us the Gasby Inn is closed.They gave us our room and we had to carry our suitcases up three flights of stairs as there is no elevator in this place.When we got to our room there was no shower just a tub, we had meetings to attend at 7am. After our mtg we went to the front desk at Gatsby Inn and asked if we could have a room with a shower, the lady looking after it sure wasn't very friendly it was like we were bothering her. We have travelled all over and I don't remember ever having someone like this. When they finally gave us a room it was suppose to be a superior room we went in and the room hadn't even been made up from the last occupants, that was a dissapointment. We reported it and they said they would have someone make it up.The room was quite a bit smaller than the other room and there was no dresser to put our clothes in and very little closet space. The next time we are in Victoria we will not be staying there.The restaurant was very good. The staff at the Gatsby is not very friendly it's like your in the way.They need to train their staff better, this is a tourist area so they need to be friendlier.

I am very fond of the Gatsby Mansion Inn. The staff has always been very good to me and the rooms are very nice. I look forward to many future stays.

The Gatsby Mansion is a Heritage building in a beautiful city. Although it was not super luxurious it had great charm which contributed to my stay in Victoria. I would book another stay in this delightful Inn.

This accommodation has seen better days and would be more acceptable if a thorough renovation was carried out - my room in Judge's House was worn; the bath facilities are decidedly subpar (no soapdish for a shower); the wifi signal was weak - limiting my computer functioning; meals were good. Inconvenient to transport luggage from parking to accommodation; no offer of help.

Stay ok, convenient to ferry docking from Seattle. No Wi-fi available in Judges house.

We were upgraded to the Honeymoon Room because our original reservation was given to someone else -- we had been given a room key and walked into an occupied room, never a good start. The Honeymoon Room has a beautiful view from the third floor but is really shabby inside, with low grade fixtures and finishings, a dirty sticky carpet, water stained tables, and a saggy mattress. There was only a thin top sheet for that mattress, without a fitted sheet or mattress cover, which meant that after turning in bed the sheet had traveled and the mattress was left exposed. This was not rectified in the two nights we were there; apparently they don't stock fitted sheets for the mattresses. The front desk staff were very nice and apologetic about this. Despite what the sign says, it not a bed and breakfast either -- there is no breakfast provided. But the view from our room was nice.

We did not mind the stairs to our room on the third floor. If you cannot climb stairs this is not for you. We loved it. The location is perfect. Just across the street from the harbor and the dock for the ferry from Port Angeles, WA.

Difficult to determine which building is the hotel. Signs on the building only indicate restaurant. Decor badly in need of refreshing. Service and dinner at restaurant were excellent.

The hotel has an excellent ambiance. We loved the high ceilings and the location and the breakfasts were great, especially the Sunday brunch. The rooms are rustic but they work well. With so much to see and do in Victoria, who needs to spend time in a room! The bed was comfy. The gal at the front desk and in the restaurant was so accommodating and nice. I would go there again.

I was a little disappointed with our stay. Our daughters are very interested in Pioneer times, and we thought that staying at an old house would be fun. I know that it was a character house, but it was a little too bit run down, with floors that sagged and caused me some fear, no overhead lights that made it difficult to see in our room. At check-out, it was rushed and I didn't feel like I was being paid attention. I also felt that there was a lack of personal touch, not seeing anyone or having anyone ask how are stay was of it we needed anything. I don't think that we will return.

We stayed in the building called the Judges House. We were concerned because we had a room right next to the front door and thought we would hear a lot of traffic noise. We heard nothing! The room was decently furnished with older furnishes of a different era but nice. The bed was comfortable and had nice linens. The staff was very helpful in providing recommendations for places to eat and tours. The front desk was very willing to store our bag upon check out so we could tour some more prior to catching one of the later ferries back to the US. Our experience at the Huntington Room or Cafe, on site, was outstanding and the food was very good! This place was close to all the attractions, just a short walk to the downtown area. We would definitely stay here again with no hesitation!

My husband and I culminated our birding trip to Vancouver Island with an overnight stay in Victoria. The Gatsby in is right on the inner harbor and it was easy to go out at night for a stroll & see the parliment buildings lighted up. We were on an ice cream-seeking mission and felt in the center of the night life of the town--lots of other tourists were about. The Inn is a wonderful old historical structure--we were there with a promotional discount and the price of the room was reasonable--we had a room with a painted mural on the ceiling--wow! The restaurant in the Inn wasn't as special as the price might indicate, but there are lots of places to eat near-by. I loved our stay!

Would highly recommend. The hotel is in a great location. Walking distance to everything. The staff was superb. It was a great experience. I would stay there again.

Lovely hotel. The service was very nice. The mattresses in all of our rooms need to be replaced. Other than that, it was very nice.

This is a perfect place to stay in this lovely and quaint city. Beautifully furnished hotel, restaurant and rooms. My room was large, spacious, very Victorian in decor, comfortable 4-poster bed, and a charming to stay. Wireless internet service was a bit sketchy, but also made me stop and realize that this was a place where 24/7 connectivity was not a huge priority for me. Food at the 2 restaurants was very good and service throughout the place was terrific, very friendly and always cheerfully accomodating. The staff taks great pride in the place, and offers a several page written history of the mansion and all it's previous owners. The Inn itself is located directly across the street from the Clipper Ferry landing and Customs building and is on the "quiet" side of the harbor. That said, it is a very easy and beautiful walk along the harbor to all downtown shops and restaurants. All-in-all, this was a wonderful place to relax for a few days, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

The Gatsby, Victoria is a small 19th century building with a unique old world character. If you are looking for something a bit different this is the place for you. The rooms are old fashioned but charming, the standard of service is excellent and the restaurant well worth exploring. The harbour and shops are a short walk away.

This is an excellent hotel if you are looking for a historic, antique location right at the center of Victoria harbor. If you prefer more modern amenities you may want to reconsider. The room can get very warm in the summer and there was no air conditioner and no proper way to prop open the window. The room was beautiful though and it had a lovely turn-of-the-century feel. It is not right for everyone but it has a great niche.

Location is great and the hotel is nice, but would have expected more for the price. The bed was very comfy but the room was looking a bit tired, old carpet, needed a lick of paint, etc. Bathroom needed a serious update.

OLD hotel with multiple houses made up of a bunch of different rooms. it's not super classy, but it is so interesting. and scary at night!

A great character hotel in a prime location. The front desk is a little hard to find and the hotel is spread out and dated. However, the staff go out of their way to accomadate you. We had a great ground floor room that overlooked the harbour. We were able to watch the Canada fireworks from the comfort of our room.

we chose the gatsby because it is a heritage building/hotel located in the heart of victoria, minutes from the inner harbour and next to the parliament buildings. it is a beautiful historical old place, refurbished nicely. we had a lovely breakfast in the sunroom in the morning. staff were very helpful and pleasant. overall a great getaway.

Unfortunately, we stayed there during the terrible heat wave which was not their fault. However, we were in Rm. 8 at the very top where all the heat went. We managed to get one window opened and got one fan into it but it took a special request to get another window opened and no other fans were available. There were several other windows but none of them apparently were operable. We had to go down the stairs and into another building to get ice. The room was large but has no shower and almost no surfaces in the bathroom to lay items. There was no remote for the TV and since the lighting was poor it was hard to read the TV dials. The staff was nice and our maid even came to the room later in the day to make sure we had adequate towels, etc. The location is straight across from the ferry landing which is great and the Gatsby has nice atmosphere, but if you plan on spending much time in the room or property you might need something with better lighting and more amenities.
