Very hospitable staff. I was on vacation and had broken both of my legs. I didn't have a wheelchair, so two young members of the staff helped carry me to my room. They were very helpful and very accommodating to any request. Thanks again to the staff!

Nice hotel. Just remember that everything in Europe is smaller than in the US. Great location. Metro to FIFA. Walking distance from Munsterplatz. Wifi sucks, but is free.

I had a room with a window facing to the courtyard. window to the courtyard. Unfortunately, the courtyard was used by smokers. So I could smell the smoke in my room when I had the windows open. Morover, it was also loud. Therefore, I recommend choosing a room facing to the street. Otherwise, the hotel was ok and the personnel really friendly.

Hotel Plattenhof in Zurich is an awesome hotel, walking distance to Central Zurich, excellent free breakfast buffet, super friendly and helpful staff. This is one of the best hotels in Zurich in my opinion. It’s not expensive, it doesn’t have any special decorations or large size rooms, but it is really a good value. I should mention a high speed free wireless internet. The internet is very fast comparing to any other hotels I’ve ever been to! Great hotel for business or leasure travelers, I will definitely stay there again next time I’m in Zurich.

Convenient that you can rent movies and play xbox duing 'slow' morning :) Very nice, friendly and helpful employees. Better than four star hotels I've been to.

Excellent staff, specially Julia! Small but good; walking distance from tram stop. Walking distance to old Zurich and train station.

The hotel was recommended to me by a friend, I was there for four nights. The staff was courteous and nice. The room is not that big, but enough. The bed was very comfortable, and linens where great. The breakfast was very nice, the food was fresh every day. Overall this hotel is highly recommend. it is 3 stops from the center, reasonable price in relation to Switzerland.

Hotel is a tram ride away from town in the university setting. Nice walk to lake or train station too. Small room but nice and minimalist decor. Good breakfast. Lovely staff.

Okay for the money since Zurich is VERY expensive. Hotel staff were nice. They say the have air condition but they do not. Our room was on the street side and was very noisy. Request a room in the back of the property.

This is a very designery/modern-chic hotel. room decorations are sparse and minimalist, but comfortable and welcoming. The staff were very friendly and knowledgable. The complimentary breakfast was excellent and the hotel location was very condusive to sight-seeing in Zurich.

we stayed four nights July 29-Aug 2, 2011 (it was one of five different hotels we stayed in during our visit to Europe, we got much better services for less in Geneva and Paris) location: good, 4 stops on train 6 heading to Zoo, less than a minute walking from the train station. staff: rude and cheap, services slow (we saw one guy at check in who was slow but nice, the rest of stay young girls not helpful, say no to all and everything just to get ride of you) breakfast: good except coffee is by order and the girl will bring it to you one by one, there is only one girl to serve everyone. room: roomy looks nice but lots of insects dead and alve bed: pillow too soft and safocating, bring your own!!! house cleaning: poor, we have to ask for shampoo and gel noise: for three nights it was quite but Friday night:so noisy with youth yelling and singing up to 2 am internet: 24 hours spread to up 12 days for 12 frank, not bad except they cut it if you are not using it, so i could not keep it on to watch for an important email or a contact to show up

Awesome breakfast buffet, friendly, helpful staff. Switzerland is very expensive, and this hotel might seem to be high priced, but compared to Swiss prices in general, it is really a good value. Conveniently located close to the #5 or 6 Tram Stop, it's only 4 stops from Central Zurich. Zurich's transit system is clean, efficient, and on time, so just buy a 24-hour ticket [a good value at 8.2 Swiss Francs as of July 2011], hop on the tram near the Plattenhof, and explore to your heart's content!

Upon entering the hotel, my husband and I were very pleased with the whole presentation of the room, from the orchid to the huge bathroom. The location of the hotel is perfect, only 15 min walk to downtown Zurich.

Good 1-night stay. Booked a standard room - which isn't quite as you might expect from the pictures on the web. The room wasn't quite as designer as the pictures suggest - good though, bright, airy and in a quiet location. Bathroom bit old-fashioned and dark. Everything spotless. Staff all very friendly. Had evening meal in the restaurant - very quiet for a Friday, but not bad (usual Swiss prices). Breakfast was very good - good choice and fresh. Easy to get to the main station by train just round the corner. In general, much better than staying in a bland chain hotel, and only 10min walk from the old town down the hill.

My husband and I found this hotel to suit us perfectly, close to transportation and all important sites, to the cost, the breakfast was excellent, very healthy, the room was airy and confortable, the only thing I did not like was a sliding bathroom door which was inconvenient. Other than that, the people in the hotel were mostly from the university nearby so they were from all age groups,which is very pleasant, and the coffee shop on the main level was always full of people.Very nice all around. Great service and very friendly staff.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The brie cheese and bread at breakfast was fantastic! The bed being so low to the floor was a bit different but not a big deal. Could be an issue for older individuals that may have a problem getting up from that low of a bed.

The hotel was a little difficult to find since it is off the beaten path. Extremely friendly and helpful hotel staff with a great breakfast each morning. I would stay here again if I ever get the chance to visit Zurich again. Hotel is very close to tram service and conviently located to downtown.

This hotel surpassed my expectations. The staff was always attentive and very helpful. My room was clean, comfortable and, as I requested, quiet. In short, I was able to relax and enjoy a very busy week of business meetings and sightseeing.

We liked this hotel for the location and price relative to higher priced hotels in the area. You have to be willing to walk a little bit but not far from the action, yet you can sleep in peace and quiet. Good b'fest in the package.

The Plattenhof is a good, reliable choice in Zurich, where I travel for work. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean and well maintained, and the location is convenient but also quiet. The rooms are not luxurious, but the design room that I choose is more than adequate. I wish that they offered better television (just CNN in English, no Spanish) and more electrical outlets, but these are rather minor points. They offer DVDs in many languages, which helps on nights when you want to stay in. The restaurant is quite good and good value for Zurich. Breakfast is especially pleasant. The coffee shop/bar is very nice, especially now that it is smoke free. My company's office is a 20 minute tram ride, or a 30 minute walk, from this hotel. It's central, but quiet. Hotels closer to the train station have tended to be too noisy for me. The walk is nice when weather is good; in rain/snow, the tram is two blocks away. I'd gladly choose the Plattenhof again.

Excellent location, very quiet. Small hotel, very modern. We liked the room, all white and simply furnished. The bed was very comfortable, with the best pillows we ever had. Good breakfast. Free internet would be a big +.

the lighting of room 303 seem not light enought especially compare to my fried who is living room 407 , his room is better , beside it is some noise outside as the church is very close to our hotel, the time for breakfast is too late because everyday we need to go out at 7:ooam , most hotel will start their breakfast around 6 to 6:3oam, I'm so dispointed that I can't enjoy it but the service of staff is good and friendly

Staff is very friendly and helpful. It is very convenient to grab bus 6 from the train station and then only one block walk to hotel so transportation was easy. The walk into old town was lovely. In the other direction, it is good exercise to head up to Zurich Berg for the views of the city below.

Perfect for the Old Town which is an easy walk away and convenient for the tram system to go out and about the City. The Plattenhof is smart, modern and friendly. We enjoyed a quiet breakfast with plenty of choice, rooms were smart and functional although in 34 degrees of heat air con would have been welcome. The small bar area with outside seating is relaxing at any time of day and in the evening a good space to chill out.

The hotel is situated in excellent location; very close to trum->train. Quite but not far enough from city centre at all (walking distance if you like to walk). All staff members are very warm and helpful with anything that we requested. Breakfast is included. Good options to eat and staff is also good. Price is very reasonable for the facility and is in very good condition. One thing keep in mind, reservation is for one person, additional charges apply to additional person. But it should not be negative because it's a hotel policy.

We chose this hotel for its proximity to the old town. We did not realise just how close it was. A few minutes saw us wandering through the beautiful old streets to the hub of the city. It was wonderful to know that after a full day's sightseeing we had the very comfortable Plattenhof Hotel to return to. This hotel has a very contemporary feel to it and is efficiently run by young, multilingual staff who are eager to tend to your every need. However, it was difficult to get used to the fact that smoking in public places has not yet been outlawed in Zurich and at times the area round the reception desk, which is adjacent to the bar, became very smokey. Also, the only feature that our room lacked was air-conditioning which meant that we had to leave the windows open at night and be kept awake by the constant noise of the nearby street fountain. Overall, it was a very good experience and we will certainly be recommending this hotel to friends.
