Friendly front desk staff, quick check in, dreary, but clean, comfortable room. Nothing great about this place but nothing really bad either. This is the kind of place that you stay at when all others are full.

This was a great hotel. For our honeymoon, we wanted just a simple hotel to go to NYC. The staff was great and super helpful. The room was clean and more comfortable then I was expecting. The bathroom was a little old but very clean. A 10 min walk to the PATH station and we zipped by to NYC everyday. The breakfast was pretty good but get there early! Guests clean it out by 9:30am and all you're left with is the fruit and some cereal. You're also allowed to take it back to your room which is nice since not every hotel allows that. We definitely will stay here next time we want to come see the city.

Like everyone else who commented on this hotel, I was very satisfied with this hotel. The hotel is small in size but if your only here to sleep, the size of it won't bother you. It is close to the PATH, the mall and it is a safe neihbourhood. The hotel is very clean and the staff is pleasant and helpful.

As advertised based on Hotel.com reviews - Great location for visiting the city, clean, well kept, good service, great price for the area.

Even round trip to Manhattan, it's only $4 bucks and you'll get to 33rd ST in less than half hr! Breakfast goes like until noon and people it's very friendly. I will go back. Thank you

We used the Holland Hotel as home base for the few days we were in the area. It was within walking distance to Carlos Bakery (20 min) as well as the various transportation options to NYC. On day 2 we took transportation into the city to visit Ground Zero Memorial and Liberty State Park. The PATH and subway are both a 20 min. walk from the hotel. Our room was clean and equipped with a refrigerator/ microwave. Parking was secure and FREE! We would stay there again.

Quentin the Manager and Michael were outstanding clean Hotel no frills like a pool or hot tub but great for a place to stay near New York without the higher prices. Very helpful giving directions and advice about local area cannot thank them enough...

I wanted to try this hotel as it was very close to my client location. It was a serious mistake. Actually for less daily rate I could have stayed at few other hotels very closeby that are much better. I cannot imagine ever staying at this hotel.

You can't go wrong when your hotel is outside a major tunnel to NY, near a reasonably priced grocery store, and has access to one of the biggest liquor stores in Jersey. The condition and cleanliness is great. Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Great hotel fair price close to train into city an close to shopping and restaurants

Had to stay in town for 3 weeks. This place is inexpensive and close enough to everything. The people working there are very cool and helpful. Good, low cost alternative if what you need is a place to stay while working in town.

Within reasonable distance to transit, liquor, and groceries. Great staff. Rooms are older but CLEAN! Stayed here over New Years, and would stay again any time!

The front desk clerk was extremely knowledgeable & friendly, and it's only a short walk to the PATH station. If you're looking for an inexpensive lodging option for NYC and are willing to take a short train into the City, this is a great choice.

Demetrius and Stephanie were great, so friendly and talkative. I had a very pleasant stay, miles from most of the rude Yankees I've been dealing with lately. I will be back.

We were visiting Carlo's Bakery and NYC. This hotel is conveniently located to Carlo's, the Holland Tunnel, and the PATH. It is a great, inexpensive hotel that is out of the way of the hustle and bustle. Parking was good, the staff was friendly and helpful. I have nothing negative to stay. It is a great place to shower and sleep. If you plan on spending a lot of time in the room, you may want to consider another hotel.

The Holland Lodge, was not at all what I paid for, people drinking outside, the entire place smells of cigarrets, astrays all over the place. The person in front of me that was cheking in was a "regular" whatever that means. I will never stay in that dump again!

Excellent services!! At this price range, the hotel condiction is good, clean and very convenient.

Better than I had hoped in Jersey City near my client. I would return.

Hotel is close to the Path. Good value for the price

Only nice things to say. Clean, comfortable, good rates compared to manhattan, great staff. Just ask for a parking lot side room. The road side is noisy in the morning.

This is very nice place to stay. It is not far from PATH And the most I liked the breakfast

Hotel is fine....neighbourhodd is not that great......but ok......little darky place.... hotel location is perfect if you are catchin a path train....10 mins walk.....if u are lloking for taxi this is not the hotel...as it is in NJ...NYC will not take u from the path....and charge is too much plus the toll 12 $ for the tunnel...i spend money for the taxis to and from airport.... Otherwise nice hotel..

99% happy, service was impeccable and very friendly. Very close to PATH train to NY. Staff very accomodating. Only complaint, free Wi-Fi slower than dirt, times unusable. Other than that, I highly recommend this hotel.

Located near PATH station: PATH train gets you to Manhattan center in about 15-20 mins, and the station is about 5-7 min walk from the hotel (though you really need to know where to go to when you arrive there for the first time). It's not easy to find the way to hotel from PATH station (Newport) when you first arrive there. The hotel is good if you just need some place to stay at night and will spend the whole day sightseeing.

I requested an iron and ironing board - it never showed up. There was a cigarette burn in the comforter. The room was a smoking room so it had a bit of a dank smell. The hotel claims to have a microwave and safe in each room, but mine didn't have either. Besides all of those things the room was decently clean and the guy at the front desk was pleasant. This is not a 5-star hotel, but if you're looking for the cheapest place to stay within an easy commute to Manhattan - this is it.

The hotel was really great. We, however, were visiting NYC and it was not convenient for travel. The hotel is almost a mile from the PATH which is the transit from NJ to NYC. Another misconception is that all transits connect. We had to find the subway once in NYC because it was not in the same terminal as the NJ transit PATH. Taxi from NYC to this hotel is very expensive if not prearranged.

The hotel staff was nice and helpful, the room was old but clean and comfortable, despite the proximity of the Holland Tunnel access road (windows were soundproof). Location is perfect, at 10-minutes walk from the PATH station to Manhattan. Great value for the bucks. Would definitely recommend this hotel and go again.

The Holland Motor Lodge was just fine. It is a two star hotel so don't expect anything more. It is clean and staff was nice and it is about a five to 10 minute walk to the Path station (depends on if you have small children). My family needed a relatively cheap place to lay down for sleep and a place close to our New York City travels. This place fulfilled our needs. One note: Don't expect a real breakfast... it's just a few donuts, orange juice, and coffee. We asked where we can get some water for our daughters to drink. They said there was no water...we asked where did they get the water for the coffee and tea. They told us they got it from the bathroom sink. :) Oh well at least they were honest :)

It's not glamorous, but it is clean and right next to the Tunnel and PATH trains to NYC. You get free parking (!) plus a very good free breakfast, coffee/tea at all times, and free wireless internet. The rooms are nothing special, but they are a standard size and well-kept. You really can't get this close to the city with these kind of amenities for anything like this price. Highly recommended, especially if you have a car.

We went to go to Carlo's Bakery, which is was very convenient to visit. If we were heading into NY as well, it would have been unbelievably convenient as well. The tunnel is right there and public transportation right across the street.

For being an older hotel, the rooms have been basically updated. The continental breakfast was pretty good. 10 - 12 min walk to the PATH, not too bad Don't let the front desk call you a taxi to go to NY or the airport, they charge a lot more than the other taxis we called.

The hotel is conviently located to the path station,we felt very safe here, and the price was right. the interior of our room was dated but very clean. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. We would have liked a bigger bed, We could only get a room with two doubles. overall we would recommend this hotel.

This is our second stay at the Holland Motor Lodge. We stayed there four years ago because we couldn't afford anything decent in Manhattan and the reviews were mostly good. We were reasonably satisfied on our first visit and were even more satisfied on our recent stay in September 2011. The place has been refurbished, there is a security/conciege on duty every night, the rooms are well maintained, the reception staff are always pleasant and our stay was very peaceful. The breakfast is a welcome bonus, the PATH train is only a 10-15 minute walk through the shopping mall and I recommend it as an ideal location if you want to see Manhattan without paying Manhattan prices. We'll definately stay there if we visit again.

First impression was that it wouldn't be very quiet because it's on a very busy street. Fortunately for me, my room was on the back, non-traffic side. Not only that but it was the bottom floor which was literally 2/3 underground. It had a small 18"x36" that looked UP to the parking lot (the window does open). Some will think this sucks but it was perfect for me, a quiet room and firm mattress is all I really want, and I got both (I'm a light sleeper). I doubt upper floors are as quiet, especially the ones facing the main road. My only complaint would be the maids are really noisy and chatty at 7-8am but when I told the desk clerk, she put a stop to it. Continental breakfast wasn't that great, but it was adequate enough.

Located just outside the Holland Tunnel this is a close as you can be to NYC without going into the city. Cost much less then the in city hotels. 3 blocks from the PATH system which can take you straight to 33rd St. for a couple of bucks round trip. Surrounding area is quiet with a mall within 2 blocks. There are restaurants near by also. Took my 12 year old son and felt quite safe walking around. Hotel itself was also quiet, staff friendly and helpful. The Holland tunnel is right outside but we could not hear traffic from our room which was facing the expressway. Would go again for my next NYC trip.

We visit the New York, New Jersey for the first time and was very pleased with this hotel and its friendly and helpful staff. Close to path and light rail transit system. We parked at hotel and didn't have to drive the busy streets. Transit systems were very close- walking distance. The hotel staff was very helpful and hotel very clean!

Room smelt stall but otherwise convenient stay to NYC

The service at the front desk is superb. They have maps the hotel has made up to help you locate the PATH, local eating and other local retail. The motel is older and the rooms are what you would expect. The beds were clean and comfortable. I slept very well.

Aside from the foul skunky odor of our room, we were pleased with the place. Nothing fancy (at all), but the location is great and the price was right.

The hotel itself is clean and kept-up very well. the halls and stairways have new carpet and the room itself was clean and surprisingly comfortable for the price. Arrived at 2:15 and was told no room would be available for another hour. When I pointed out that the advertised check-in time is 2:00 pm, the hotel manager offered no apology and just shrugged his shoulders as if to say "take it or leave it!"
