The hotel is very conveniently located. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. I took the standard room, as I was alone so it was fine. The standard room is not big , it has a desk, and bed and no much space left. For me it worked fine.

Staff moved me to king bed which i appreciated, paying for just a double size room. However, even so, I wasn't too impressed given the price ($220 including tax for one night)...Maybe I'm just being cheap. The bathroom had wierd fung shway being extremely narrow and having the shower and toilet located all the way at the end with minimal light. Everything else seemed fine. Service was good. Came for a business meeting and the staff accompanied me to change in an empty room even after checking out, which I appreciated.

I only went to the hotel to sleep. It was clean and comfortable. Maybe a little overpriced.

Hotel was going through construction. However, I prepaid for two nights, two rooms and one room was occupied, requiring my colleague to go to a Holiday Inn. Toilet backed up: I was given extra towels and plunged the toilet myself. No restaurant service because of construction. Elevator not working the day prior to my arrival because of construction. Management offered to deduct one night from my bill; I am waiting for reimbursement.

We had stayed here before a few years ago. They are renovating, but it is worse now. The renovation seems poorly done. Such as no shelve in shower to use, making it very inconvenient. Overall room was cramped and not well decorated. Probably will not stay here again.

great location to go to a game at the garden. lobby under construction but not a big deal since the rooms are brand new. small rooms but so nice and clean.

They were in the midst of renovating. So i cant speak for the lobby and tapas bar.. The room was clean and the service was solid. There is only one elevator for all 9 floors; so don't plan to be in a rush. About 7 bars (from hangouts to clubs) are within 0.1 miles. And a dunkin donuts is around the corner. I like the location, close to subway( ~4 blocks) but not in the epicenter of downtown. Pretty peaceful but def not isolated from the city feel. I'd go back. I stayed for 3 nights.

The pictures on the website are deceiving. The room is old and dirty. You can see how old the the box spring is. They were under construction during my stay and there was heavy epoxy fumes lingering in the building. Not good when you are pregnant.

Service was great at the hotel! They were undergoing a renovation so apperance wasn't top notch. I also did not have an ice machine on my floor.

I chose the Bulfinch for price, design, architecture, and photos on the web. The hotel was under construction March 10 - ? redoing the restaurant. Since I stayed on the second floor, I attributed the cold bathroom floor to no heat from below. The rooms were modern and elegantly appointed, furnishings all worked. It woudl have bene nice to have a desk lamp. The hotel is within walking distance of North Station and Haymarket stations and for 2.50 you can go anywhere in Boston. I woudl highly recommend it, better for when the construction is finished.

The staff were very friendly. It was obvious they were in the middle of a big remodel, which we knew about before staying. They worked hard to be accommodating, and our room was essentially brand new! We didn't hear any construction noise, and the room was beautiful! The hotel is close to a few different subway stops (good to know if there's a game), and was within walking distance to some great italian restaurants and the freedom trail. We would stay there again.

The location is good and the staff are wonderful. HOWEVER the building is undergoing MAJOR re-construction. There is 1 elevator for everything and everyone and the restaurant is closed. Hotel .com should have more up to date info on the hotels please!!!!

Besides the room being miniscule, an all night party down the hall that the front desk failed to address adequately made for a terrible stay. We will NOT return to this hotel. Also, the hotel is under renovation which would have been nice to know in advance.

The staff were extremely helpful. Unfortunately, the hotel is undergoing renovation so there was noise during the day and their restaurant is closed. No room service or mini-fridge.

The Bulfinch is a great boutique hotel in a safe, convenient neighborhood. The staff was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The tapas at the restaurant were delicious. it pains me to give this hard working hotel a less than stellar review - however - I was there on business and had a schedule to keep. The valet service was supposed to start at 7:00 am every morning. The valet showed up between 7:30 and 7:45 every morning, which made me late every day. Guess how much my boss cared that the valet didn't show up?

My wife and I stayed overnight for a celtics game. Great location to walk to the Garden and surrounding bars. Good price compared to the other hotels nearby. The hotel is undergoing a remodel and the workers are constantly in the lobby having very loud conversations and swearing like sailors. The rooms were small but did the job. Our heat didn't work and it was freezing in the room. The front desk didn't know how to turn it on, I actually had to remove the panel on the wall and flip a switch in the HVAC unit itself, very strange. No ice or vending on our floor so we had to wander around to find it. I would only stay there again for the price, the Onyx nearby was 10 times better when we stayed there earlier.

The Bullfinch is a bare-bones hotel located close to the Boston Garden/TDBanknorth Center, whatever you want to call it. The rooms are small and have an old feel...the closet door didn't close, and there are very few electric outlets. The bed was comfortable enough, and the noise level was nonexistent. The housekeeping is a little off...for example, I got bar soap once ij my 3-day stay...I first thought that they didn't provide it til I got one the next day, but not the following. The sink was cracked and the rugs are old too. This was a good place just to lay your head if you're not concerned with room or aesthetics. BTW, the room service was decent the one night I had it, a good burger and fries. The staff is helpful and friendly too.

Second time I've stayed, very well priced for area and nice modern clean rooms. In handy location to all the major sights. Only minus is parking is offsite or valet is expensive and slow.

First of all, yes it is small, guess what - it is a hotel room in Boston! They are small! The King bed room was plenty big for the two of us. Clean and well kept. Perfect location. Walking distance to Boston Common, Quincy Market, West End, North Station and TD Garden. Great bars, Pub food and Pizza within a two block radius. Stay here!

We arrived late after driving through a snowstorm. We got the keys to our room, but the door couldn't be opened. After two trip to the front desk, the clerk came up with me, and he couldn't get the door opened either. He booked us into another room, but it had only one king bed instead of two doubles. The one person staff that night at the hotel didn't have the "authority" to put us in a comparable room. I tried everything and two of us had to sleep on the floor. NOT COOL!!!

Loved the hotel and Staff.!!

The room was small, and the layout of the furniture was kind of weird. Also, the bathrooms for the lobby area were in the concrete basement; and the ice machine was on the 3rd floor (while our room was on the 9th). But the front desk was very friendly (they even provided a toothbrush and toothpaste upon request), and the room had what we required -- a comfortable bed.

Although our room was very small, it was efficient. Reason for booking the Bulfinch was its location to TDGarden and Fanuil Hall/North End. We will recommend as well as be back!

This hotel is fairly old and the asthetics are not that great, the bathroom is modern but the toilet would not flush and almost overflowed and the shower had horrible drainage and my feet felt like they were in a bathtub, cause the water did not go down the drain. The clock did not work, but the hotel restaurant was pretty good, the order wasnt right at first but once right it was tasty. The valet is $44.00 and $33.00 to park down the street and around the corner. I would say it is not worth it, move on to the next.

For as many times we passed the front desk, I don't beleive we heard a "good morning" or "hello" from anybody. Sunday morning there was no breakfast to be had .Continnental breakfast? On a Sunday? We were not informed about only having a shower in our room. (We like to soak with bath salts and candles after a long day). On an upper note if you are going to the TD Garden this is a great location. Close to all the sports bars as well. Boston in general is a walking town so nothing was to far away .

The hotel is well located for tourism in downtown Boston, Faneuil Hall, and the North End, being only a few minutes' walk from each. Because of the architecture of the buildings nearby, the neighborhood is relatively colorless, but is it also safe and, with the TD Garden (home of the Celtics and Bruins, when they are playing) and sports bars close by, it often has people on the streets, even at night. The Bulfinch has a helpful front desk staff, and there is a restaurant on the premises. However, the building is an odd shape, so the rooms tend to be cramped, and they are not always set up conveniently. In the last room I had there, for example, the ethernet cable for my computer -- which is safer than using WiFi for email, financial transactions, etc. -- was placed over by the window in the room, and the only way to use it with my computer was to turn around a big chair to face the tiny night table next to the bed. But because of the design of the room (again, because of the shape of the building), the space I had to maneuver in was tight, since the bed was wedged against the chair, which in turn was wedged against the wall. Also, the desk (on the other side of the room) had some of its varnish scraped off and looked old. The good news is that the rooms are do for a makeover before the end of 2012, so I hope some of these flaws in an otherwise nice hotel will be fixed.

This is the second time my family stayed at the Bullfinch. I really like this hotel. It's small but the location is great and the staff are so accomidating and pleasant.

The smallest hotel room ever. Hardly room to open suitcases. Plumbing needed repair. One morning the restaurant wasn't operating. We should have stayed on the edge of town and ridden the subway in.

An easy walk to Mass general and MEEI. Nice location in relation to north end and Quincy market. Bar located off of lobby is cute and makes great drinks. Room was very small with one king bed. Room was clean.

Room was nice. Even though the sleeping quarters were a bit on the small side, the bathroom was spacious and made up for it in my opinion. The only complaint I can pose is that the pillows were pretty poor. They really need to upgrade those.

Dirty bathroroom

Liked it. Simple, clean, well located. No fridge or microwave in the room. Friendly and helpful staff.

Short stay with no problems. Nice staff.
