Reasonable price,friendly staff

Our stay was very enjoyable. The staff from the moment we entered to register to the day we checked out was amazing and very helpful. They always had a smile on their face and a friendly hello. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone.

the staff was very nice but our room was hot as hell!

No shower exhaust fan, may start fire detector, pool was the worst we have ever seen, like two hot tubs Manager at the front desk was rude.

There are really only a few positive things I can say about this hotel, mostly that it was in a good location, walking distance from all the sites. With that said here are all the negatives: 1) the bathroom had obvious mold growing above the shower 2) shower head sucked big time 3) water never got hot 4) toilet made noise all night long 5) noise level in the room was ridiculous. Everytime someone passed by you could hear their whole conversation and everytime someone closed their door it sounded like a torpedo went off. 6) breakfast was MEDIOCRE at best. I'm never staying at this hotel again and would recommend you do the same. For just a little more money I might as well have stayed at a hotel ON the river walk. The hotel was no better than your typical motel.

The odor of mold in the room the first night caused us sore throats. We were grateful that the management changed our rooms for our second night. It was much better. (We didn't ask to change after we checked in as we overheard the desk clerk tell another guest that the hotel was full.)

Nice, Clean and conveniently located

Top-notch customer service. Very convenient to downtown -- I never used the car, just walked everywhere.

This hotel is fun because it is the old Bexar County jail. If you are in decent shape and enjoy walking, the weather is somewhat mild, then the Riverwalk is close enough, though definitely not right outside your door. Market Square is very close, only one of the La Quintas is closer but it is not as nice as this hotel. If you're not used to living or traveling in cities, you may be bothered by a few transients that appear near the downtown area, but they are mostly harmless and don't overwhelm the area. The room itself was fine, comfortable, very clean, though the design suffered a bit because the historic integrity of the building had to be preserved. I visited on a holiday weekend and parking was tight but I was still able to park without a problem. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you want a very large room, or you need to be very very close to the Riverwalk, this may not be the best choice. If you want something different, close to El Mercado, in reasonable distance to many attractions at a good price, this is a great choice. I will stay again.

The only thing that I was disapointed about way the $10.00 per day parking fee. Other hotels do not charge for that in the area.

The hotel wasnt that nice and the parking is awful. The neighborhood is kinda scary at night also. We had people begging us for money the whole time we were there. Would not stay there again.

The parking lot was very small and even though we had to pay $10 a night for parking, we werent gauranteed a spot if we got back late. The elevator was slow. The hallways and elevator were both hot and smelled bad. Breakfast pancake maker wouldn't work right and they only had 1. Seating for breakfast was pretty tight also. The swimming pool was very small and needs updated. The "hot" tube was the same temerature as the pool.

My family liked the hotel and the staff was very professional.

Really enjoyed our stay. Service was great and the breakfast buffet was superb.

The hotel staff was indifferent at best to any service requests or complaints. Could not reach the front desk from our room ever.

Decent price, but the location was a bit iffy. If i had to I would stay again. But would prefer something a little closer to the riverwalk.

It's an older hotel by the Riverwalk with limited parking which you have to pay additional for. I was in town on business for a week and knew I was in trouble when the people across the hall brought in 4 cases of adult beverages the first night (maybe 2nd). There was alot of noise and door slamming (after midnight). Some days I got clean towels and wash cloths, others I did not. Bed was not comfortable. Was glad to get home. Would not stay here again.

Room keys did not work on back or side doors to the hotel and had to re-key the room every day to get into room. Second day the air conditioner froze up (rm 115)and we were moved into room 118 that had an overwelming odor of mold which made my wife sick. Also this hotel stated it had a hot tub but it was broken for our entir visit. Pool was very small, maybe 20 X 8 feet?. Breakfast area was not large enough to accomodate the amount of people needed to be comfortable.

it's a pretty nice hotel but really too far to walk to the riverwalk where the nice restaurants are

Very impressed with the service. Staff could see that we were very tired at accommodated us completely. Extremely happy. Would return back if ever in San Antonio!

The room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The location of the hotel is the perfect walking distrance from the market and the riverwalk..

When we arrived in our room we discovered we had no shower curtain and only 1 bath towel to be shared by 4 people. Calling down to the lobby I was told we would have to come down to get a shower curtain and more bath towels. The staff would not be able to bring them to the room. On Sunday morning, we had no hot water. It was miserable having to wash hair and shower without hot water. The hotel staff did not seem at all concerned that we had no hot water and merely said it was true for all guests. After returning home I discovered on my credit card an additional charge for services that could not be explained by the hotel staff. The woman that I spoke with at the hotel was again not concerned about my difficulty. She told me just to "check my account in a few days" to see if the charge was still there.

The hotel is not on or near the riverwalk as the name implies. The hotel is just a standard Holiday Inn Express so it is nice because it is new, but in 5 years it will lose that appeal. The surrounding neighborhood is somewhat sketchy ( I get a kick out of the 'Maggot Grocery' directly across the street. Despite being fairly close to the AMTRAK station and tracks, I was not bothered by train noise as I first expected. Finally, I realize that my visit was in January, but I was looking forward to the 'heated' pool. It was at most 55 degrees and thus unswimable. The hot tub was nice though.

Helpful staff and nice breakfast. Rooms were clean. Would consider going back if in the area again.

It is a converted historic jail. Very high ceilings. Nice new fixtures.

This hotel was very convenient for most of the interesting highlights including the Riverwalk, The Alamo, shops, restaurants, Sky Tower was a short walk away along the Riverwalk. Very friendly staff. Comfortable room. Good breakfast with choices of hot and/or cold buffet. Quiet location.

This hotel is very nice. It is located within walking distance of riverwalk and the Alamo. I would recommend it be the place you choose.

Was led to believe that our hotel was closer to the Riverwalk. It was atleast 4-5 blocks down. That's alot of walking and/or trolley expense just to get to the Riverwalk. Not a great area to walk at night. We would rather pay the added expense to stay at a hotel on the Riverwalk next time. The breakfast was a hot breakfast, so that was nice. All the air conditioners in the rooms on the 5th floor went out the 2nd night we were there. Our room was on a different floor and our air conditioner was fine as long as you kept it on, if you set it at auto it turned off and would not come back on. On the On status, it stayed at 66 degrees, never got warmer.

This hotel was definitely worth the price. The staff was very friendly, the room was super nice, and super clean. We were also a few blocks from the Market and the Riverwalk. So everything was convenient for walking or driving. The hotel staff was very nice and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel and will use this hotel on my next stay in San Antonio.

Arrived at 3:30 PM to check in but the rooms were not cleaned and ready. Went and walked the River Walk and returned at 6:30 PM to no rooms being ready. Finally got a room with no heater and the hall noise was extremely bad. Was moved up stairs because they could not fix the heater which was better but then they has no clean wash clothes or towels. There was no easy way to get your bags into the building as there was a tall flight of stairs to climb plus the elevator was in the back of the building.

Hotel was good value. We can find no faults. Service was friendly. I would recommend

We arrived at our hotel and found the rooms to be very very clean. Later that evening (before 10pm when security goes on-duty) our truck was broken into along with another car in the parking lot. Apparently this is common in this area as many parking lots advertised "security." The staff was very helpful and nice through the situation. Other than that instance, we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast was good, we were within walking distance to the market (2 blocks) and only a 15 minute walk to the riverwalk/convention center.

This hotel is very comfortable and I would definitely recommend it to others. This used to be the old Bexar County Jail and is filled with great history if you are interested in that. The one downfall is the fee you have to pay to park; however, you will be hard pressed to find a hotel in San Anton that you don't have to. It's a great location and I felt very safe.

This hotel is really bad, the elevator took and average of 5-8min to arrive. i had to use the stairs and i had an 80yr. old woman with me that could only see with one eye. They were telling me that i was going to get charged a 250 dollar fee is we smoked or brought in pets into the room. We were ok with that it is policy, but we got to the room and it smelled like smoke! Then while i was in the restroom people walked into the room with a key, then again some other people came in a second time 30mins. later. Then when we told the people up front they started laughing and said oh yeah, that happens all the time. After that we cancelled the two nights and left right away to another hotel.

This was a nice hotel to stay at, however, dont let them tell you that it is ON the riverwalk. It is blocks from the riverwalk. Also, they dont let you know in advance that you will have to pay to park there!

We stood at the hotel already twice, and we love it. The room was really clean and the breakfast is wonderful. The location is not bad and the staff is very nice. They also have a small pool with warm water. Kids love it. I will go back again.

I was very pleased with the hotel. The room was nice and the staff was friendly. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that there were homeless people asking us for money when we walked downtown after dark.

This hotel was so much more than what we expected. It's an actual historical landmark so therefore it is not your run of the mill hotel. It's within walking distance of market square and the river walk. The rooms were clean and the staff was very nice and helpful. I would definitely stay again and plan to. The only odd thing was the parking but when your in the middle of downtown it is expected.
