The location was pretty central; about a 20-minute (uphill) walk to the center of town. Some takeaway places around, plus a Tesco just around the corner. Parking onsite, thought it cost 10 pounds a day. There was a kitchen, which was stocked with a few things, and plenty of hot water in the bathroom. So those are the good things. The reception can be a little snippy, and they are ONLY available from 8 to 8. If you call outside of those times, you can be charged 50 pounds if it's not an emergency. The decor is from, I don' t know, maybe the 80s? And the sheets were so uncomfortable that I had to sleep fully clothed. Still, I would probably stay there again with my family. The location was good enough, plus the low price and the ability to cook your own meals was great.

Yet again another excellent stay at the hotel. Only complaint was the oven was not that clean. Could smell the grease as soon as we entered the kitchen. However in fairness, we didnt complain about this. Despite this, we will definately return.

A great alternative to booking a hotel for the price I paid. But they do charge £10 per day for parking and £10 per hour for check outs after 10am. These should be factored into the initial price otherwise these upselling makes it a huge disappointment on arrival. For its location being not exactly right in the centre of Edinburgh (you need to take a bus), they should be able to offer parking facilities for free especially when these accommodation attract people who drive. Check out time at 10am means you can't really have a lie in, not ideal for a lazy holiday. Also dont forget they charge you 2.5% for using a credit card. Botton line - be sure to carry extra cash when you arrive.

Have stayed there four times in the last 20 months. Love it but beware of surcharges on car parking introduced since July 2011. It is now £10 a night car parking charges.

Lovely apartment with the bus stop right out the main door. Close to Supermarket, Botanical Gardens and a short bus trip to Central Edinburgh. I would stay here again.

I stayed here for two nights in September and it was wonderful. It was extremely close to multiple bus lines and a grocery store. If you need to spend several nights in Edinburgh, this is ideal. Kitchen was equipped and even had a small clothes washer.

We booked this apartment on a spur of the moment visit to Edinburgh and were very happy with our choice. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly, letting us into the apartment early and allowing us to leave our car in the car park while we went for lunch the next day. The two bedroom apartments are large enough for a family like ours, two adults, two older teenagers. The beds, as others have said, have quite hard mattresses but after a day spent walking around Edinburgh we all slept like logs! The apartments are about 15 minutes walk from Princes Street which is no problem if you are fairly fit, though there are excellent bus services into the city from just outside the apartments - make sure you have the right change! There are loads of reasonably priced cafes nearby serving breakfasts and eveninng meals if you don't want to cook and a good Tesco store and petrol station just around the corner The only negative point is the soundproofing. We had what sounded like a herd of elephants charging around in the apartment above ours till about 10pm which was a little annoying. Overall though I'd recommend Canon Court to anyone who prefers the freedom of self-catering, we're already planning our next trip!

My husband and I have stayed at Canon Court 2 or 3 times a year since it opened. We have always been delighted and have recommended it to many. We were therefore dismayed and disappointed to discover on our recent stay that parking charges have been introduced. We have NEVER seen the carpark full, indeed it is very often nearly empty. The owners will not make a great deal of money from a few cars so why spoil a great place by the introduction of charges. One of Canon Court's attractions was the free parking. We also noticed that there are various notices and threats throughout the flats.This does not make a"home from home". We also noticed that the linen is now only changed once a week--to save the environment! Maybe!! Rather penny pinching I suspect. The staff remain as courteous and helpfull as ever but because of the greed of the Canon Court owners we can no longer recommend it to our friends and aquaintances. Such a pity to spoil such a good place by greed.

Adequate but not excellent for the money. Great location, though. Good bus service to Princes Street area and good neighborhood with supermarket and nice restaurants. Bedrooms lacked blackout curtains so sun woke us up every a.m. "Living room" left something to be desired in terms of decor, but adequate. Wake-up service non-existent, so bring an alarm clock. Cooking utensils rather sparse but kitchen well equipped otherwise.

I was a guest at this establishment June 11, 2011. This hotel/ apartment is very disappointing. First they have a check out time of 1000am. Additional hours are at 10 quid. They are not flexable about this either. Then I had limited hot water. Five minutes into the shower the water was ice cold. Try taking two showers and checking out at 10am. The desk closes at 8pm so your on your own. I ended up using the tea kettle to wash my hair. I was an hour late checking out because of the hot water, and told I still had to pay the late check out. Sorry but I do not recommend this hotel.

We stayed at 5 different hotels during our Scotland vacation and this one was the worst one, and unfortunately most expensive. The previous hotel we stayed at in Edinburgh happened to be our favorite, so moving into this hotel was a definite disappointment. I'll also post a review for the other hotel. The positives about this hotel is that it's close to a supermarket, had a good selection of TV channels, free wireless internet, and had an ensuite clothes washer (no dryer). The Italian restaurant nearby was also good. My main complaint about this hotel was that it was really old. The room looked 30 years older than what we saw at other hotels. The bathroom in particular wasn't pleasant with the tub seemingly "waterproofed" by a TON of caulking... everywhere. Every inch of the floor was creaky too, and covered in an old, thin carpet. The location, although close to the botanical gardens, isn't close to much else. We enjoyed staying in the old town a lot more. I did express my disappointment to the front desk, and they basically said there nothing they can do, nor did they try to or express any form of sympathy. I seriously considered finding another hotel - something I've never done before - but ended up completing my 3 night stay.

An ideal location to the city centre, being about a 15-20 minute walk. Some excellent cafes and restaurants within walking distance of the apartments. Pleasant and helpful staff on site. Would definitely use this apartment again.

I have stayed in Canon Court apartment twice and every time they have satisfied me immensely. They have excellent service and rooms are very spacious. They provide all the basic amenities in the apartment including washing machine, shower, toaster, coffee maker, microwave. I was very impressed with the cleanliness as well. It made my trip complete and relaxing. I will always recommend this hotel to everybody.

This is a great place to stay if you are going to be in Edinburgh for a little while and prefer to cook your own breakfasts, etc. I was there on business and it was nice to have ample space to work at the dining room table when I wasn't in meetings. I usually walked down town, which takes about 20 minutes, but there are also convenient buses. Try Eastern Spice , an Indian takeout place right around the corner on Howard St.

I was very shocked at how big the place was. It was 2 bedrooms, with a living room/dining room and a full size kitchen. The queen bed is two small beds pushed together, but they were fine. Honestly, not super plush, but fine for the UK. Great value and good location. A little bit of a walk to down town, but a nice walk. We never had to use any other transportation. Also they had a free parking lot, which was awesome. Only bummer was the 200 dollar hold they insisted on running on my credit card as a deposit. The hold last 5 days. Not a problem for me, however could prove problematic for some people. Not fancy, but way better than expected and worked out great. Also there is a grocery store (Tesco) around the corner which was great! Had a Costa coffee shop in it. Highly recommend this hotel for a groups who are looking for a reasonable way to do Edinburgh.

Really friendly staff at the reception, the apartment was clean and large! However, one thing which was annoying was the shower saver, as you really want jet-power in your shower. Good Location! Walk to the city takes 10-15 min

These comfortable and spacious apartments are conveniently located to central Edinburgh but the walk may be taxing for some because of the hill. Having a courtyard carpark was also very welcome. There were four of us, all male, sharing two rooms in (rather narrow) single beds and our only complaint was that there was only one bathroom/shower.

We were only able to spend two days in Edinburgh. However, we promised to return. We will definitely do our best to stay at the Hot-el-Apartments Canon Court. Two rooms, a setting room, large bedroom, kitchen, in addition to bath. The local bus transportation was very close to the hotel and allowed us to get anywhere in the city.

The Hot-el-Apartrments Canon Court in Edinburgh are wonderful! My friend and I had a two-bedroom apartment that turned out to be a godsend. We were there while Edinburgh was trying to recover from the big snowfall, and there was a a second snowfall of several inches while we were there. While we were able to go sightseeing one day, the next day we were snowbound by the second snowfall and the transportation paralysis that enveloped Scotland. But we were very comfortable in the apartment--the couches in the living room are fantastic--and with restaurants and a Tesco grocery store one block away, we had access to plenty of food. We also very much appreciated the free Wi-Fi, the many TV stations, and the elevator.

Great apartments in a location within 15 mins walk from centre of Edinburgh .A home from home.All facilities included were clean , with well maintained apartment .We would recommend this to others .

we end up getting the older version of the room from the website pics and everything looked outdated. the only good thing is the convenient of the kitchen where you can cook your own food. we stayed there 2 nights and room service did not even bother to clean our room. the bed is the worst i slept in an hotel. for the price they charge i expected better.

Other reviewers have said it, but the location is superb - several bus lines right outside the hotel to the city center. The property was excellent and having an apartment as opposed to a hotel room was terrific - especially having a washer/dryer. We had a little problem of our own making as we were checking out and the woman at the front desk was magnificent and incredibly helpful. We would definitely recommend!

Great apartments -fully fitted and very clean. The staff was helpful beyond what could be expected. I would definitely return if going to Edinburgh again. The only downside is that the beds are very short.

We love to stay at Canon Court. We enjoy the freedom that self catering affords and food to buy to cook yourselves, take-away food and restaurants are near at hand. The hotel is well seved by buses taking you up to town,across into the old town or out to Leith if you don't fancy the fifteen minute uphill walk. the Galleries in the West End can be reached by the city's no 13 service.Edinburgh's Botanic Garden is less than five minutes walk away and guarantees to restore spirits after hectic shopping and sight seeing. For us it is lovely to drive up to Edinburgh in the car and then be able to park safely off-road.

Overall great place. Roomy, comfy and quiet! Great location just outside the city center with easy walking distance and frequent buses (only 5mins). Only negative is that the hot water ran out very, very fast. Otherwise - awesome!

This was just what we needed, a really spacious appartment in Edinburgh for our family at a really reasonable price! Was clean, clost to shops and not too bad a walk into town even with a pushchair in the rain!

The apartment was fully furnished and supplied with more than adequate kitchen utensils and appliances. the bathroom and bedrooms were huge by European standards. I would highly recommend this hotel for travelers spending at least several days in Edinburgh so that they have a chance to enjoy the apartment's amenities. Though the hotel is a bit farther from the Old Town, there is a bus stop right out front that runs right up into town in just minutes. A definite winner!

This hotel has everything except a clear sign directing to the car park. A nearby supermarket allows for shopping, a washer-dryer provides a great opportunity to get some clothes cleaned, the beds and chairs are comfortable, and the apartment is roomy.

Apartment was in good location, tesco nearby, circle cafe across the road, bus stop outside. Have stayed in better Edinburgh apartments - only disappointment was broken pull out bed, odd cups and glasses selection (only 3 wine glasses), no washing up cloth, (o wi-fi details in apartment (had to go to reception). Because of this not full value for money in my view but it was convenient.

Whilst the apartment was pleasant enough it was a little run down - the furniture covers were very stained and the settee sunken in the middle! Odd cutlery and very little of it - 2 breakfast bowls, 3 cups, mugs and glasses, knives that wouldn't cut the atmosphere! It was ok for a short stay but not well enough equipped for a week or 2. Enough hot water for only 1 shower in the morning, much to my 11 yr old's disappointment and certainly no good if the whole family wishes to shower before leaving. More hot water is available if you can wait 45 minutes for it to reheat. The reception is open from 8am yet when I went down at 8.10 it was still closed and when I rang down at 8.20 my call went unanswered. A £200 deposit is required on check in - nowhere advertises this!

We were pleasantly delighted with the room as I was not expecting a 2bed2bath apartment for 3 adults. It fit our needs very well. All the rooms were spic and span and we liked relaxing in the living room. Although we did not plan to use the kitchen as much, it turned out very handy. Overall a very good experience!

1. Bedding was average in the children's room (2 x single beds) but in the main bedroom there was a crappy & tiny double bed which creaked loudly at the even the smallest movement. Why these places don't have a Queen size bed as standard is beyond me. 2. Wifi Internet could not be connected to on the 1st night (we stayed 2 nights) & when finally connected was quite slow ! 3. For the money we paid, I feel it's a bit over-priced.

not really 4 star standard accomodation. expected something better for the price. generally a bit tired looking with cheap furnishings and fittings. bed uncomfortable with lumpy pillow, curtains did not shut out the bright street light shining in through window, noisy all night garage with taxi rank outside.... however it was clean and kitchen was well equiped.

The aparthotels are in a great locations, about 10 minutes walk to Princes Street and the city centre (although it is up quite a steep hill!!) The apartments are very nicely furnished and very modern, with prices very reasonable for the size and location - however the beds are not the comfiest in the world - especially the pull out sofa! Be prepared to give a payment card on arrival for preauthorisation - in case you damage the flat, quite a substantial amount too. It was great for us, 3 girls wanting somewhere reasonably priced, fairly central and somewhere that allowed us all to be together, as few hotels offer a 3rd bed! I would recommend it, but would have to point out the not so comfy beds for those that can't sleep on wooden lats!!

My daughters and I were on a budget travelling through Scotland. We were able to relax in a home environment, one could be in the other room on the internet. I was in the kitchen cooking dinner, and the other relaxed in the living room. The grocery store was done the street. The neighborhood was beautiful. We were about 2 miles from Downtown, but the walk and sites made everything so wonderful. We loved this and will use it again.

A very high place to stay, very close to the city , the apartment is very nice, clean, a good size and the staff was very friendly. The girl in the reception was very helpful, gave us direction to visit different places. Would visit there again.

We loved our stay in our apartment! Although it was out of town, buses were regular so not a problem - just make sure you have exact change! A taxi from town was only about 5 pounds, so not far if coming back late at night. The apartment was clean and well-equipped with everything we needed (except for a cheese grater!) The apartment was warm and cosy, with plenty of room to spread out. So much better than a basic hotel or b&b room - you can cook yourself to save some money - as well as wash your clothes in the apartment. Would definitely recommend it and would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was nice but a bit outdated. The location was terrific especially with all the tram work being done in the town center. We had a few nice meals at the nearby Orchard bar. Bus and taxi service were easy to find at the front entrance of the hotel.

The apartment comes with a full kitchen and they provide coffee supplies. It is a short trip to a local market, so we were able to make breakfast in the room each morning. The floors are a bit squeaky and it is an bit of an uphill hike to the center of town. But overall we found the staff quite helpful and would definitely recommend this hotel.

Pleased with the location and pretty much everything was fine but the mattress was awful - and that's really a pretty easy thing for them to fix. It's about 15 minutes downhill from Princes Street so it's an easy walk home from the town centre at the end of the day.

Whilst the apartment was in a nice location and the room was clean; the bed was very short. I'm 5ft 9" and my feet were hanging out the bottom of the bed. Probably the most important bit of advice I could give to the owners are - a comfortable matress is important and does not cost much. The matress on the bed I slept was far from comfortable (I still ache 3 days later!!!)
