second to none!!!! ... we surely will stay again!

We had a wonderful stay at the Amethyst Inn. Loved the antique furniture, the detailed woodwork and the building design. The breakfasts were the best we've ever had. We had to leave on an early ferry and they even packed us a breakfast to take with us. I would definitely recommend this B&B.

Very disappointed with the service! My husband and I have enjoyed repeated stays at many beautiful B+B's in downtown Victoria but not here. There was a bit of a language barrier and no warmth and hospitality that B+B's are know for. Very cool reception upon arrival. We were handed a paper to fill out, then up 3 flights of stairs to the attic handed keys and left without a word. Later I went down 3 flights of stairs to ask for a bar of soap. The owner had a hard time understanding me. She walked to a closet and handed me a tiny bar of soap and said nothing, just a thank you from me. Our room was small but had a nice jetted tub + no shower facilities + the bed was a bit hard. With only 2 other couples at the Inn, we were all housed on the attic leve when there were 10 other large rooms on lower levels. B+B breakfasts are worth raving about but this not. The fruit + yogurt parfait was good, but the muffins were gummy + stuck to the wrapper. They were serving omelet with asparagus + raw tuna + salmon on top! We requested no raw fish and were offered ham instead. It came with a paper thin slice of ham (lunch meat) placed on top. There was no cheese or flavour and it was overcooked being firm and dry. We packed up and left without a goodbye or thanks from anyone. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

Very satisfying in a very beautiful house with excellent service. Fine detail and very clean. Exquisite breakfast all inclusive in a very excellent setting. No air conditioning in room but not a problem for the time of year of our visit. Would love to return.

All staff was very accomodating - including feeding us after breakfast hours, keeping an anniversary cake in the fridge for us, and showing us other rooms that were not occupied. A beautifully refurbished trip back in time! No air conditioning is the only downside I can think of - but that wasn't around in 1865 when this charming mansion was built. The Inn our daughter got married at (the reason for our trip) was nice, but this was even nicer! We have picked out the room we want to stay in next time....

It was very comfortable and staff was awesome. Breakfast simply lovely. Well located for number 11 bus into Victoria in a dash. Quality of service was best I've had anywhere.

I have never felt so pampered in my whole life. The breakfasts were amazing and we actually looked forward to them every day. Beautiful Fabulous staff (thanks Ruth). Can't wait to go back!!!!!!

It's a nice B+B. Good breakfast, nice rooms and in a nice neighborhood. But if you are interested in a conversation with the owners, go somewhere else as their English is not very good.

the breakfasts were uncomfortable. they didnt set enough tables so we had to walk into an awkward situation and sit at a table with people we didn't know. we were on a honeymoon so we would have preferred our own table. in my room i could hear the people beside us clear as day. another thing you dont want on your honeymoon.on the last night we wanted to watch movies together, but the dvd player was broken we had one person in there who didnt know what she was doing she brought someone else in he didnt know what he was doing, then they called someone who couldnt really help them, all speaking a language we didnt understand. we finally just asked them to leave.

we were lucky enough to find the amethyst inn online-- we were amazed at the inn from our first moments there to our last. friendly staff, goregous rooms, fabulous breakfast served to you in the beautiful dining room.. a step back in time not only with the surroundings but to when service was not just a word. cannot wait to go back there next year. this is a must stay for tourists or even victoria residents who need a night away to be pampered.

The Amethyst is a really lovely place to stay, with its old fashioned atmosphere. It would be perfect if not for its location. It’s slightly far from downtown Victoria, but if you are willing to walk for 20 minutes - not much in the end - you can get there by feet. Otherwise, the bus stop is near and the time schedule convenient. On the upper hand, you are walking distance for the Blithly Bistro, a simply delicious, owner operated restaurant in Oak Bay.

It was a lovely departure from a standard chain hotel. the rooms were a lovely peak in to era long gone, with all the amenities of the present. The host was lovely and extremely helpful. The breakfast was absolutely delic! The only minor comment is you should have a car with you if staying there. Downtown Victoria is a bit away. You can take a bus, but a tad bit inconvenient.

The Amethyst is an old wooden building with a wonderful period interior: wood panelling, fantastic double staircase, large bedrooms, furniture in keeping with the decor. The owners obviously have a love affair with this wonderful building. Nice garden to sit in in good weather. Tea/coffee permanantly available in the lounge, along with sherry and home baked cookies. The highlight was the breakfast. Personal, attentive service. Huge fresh fruit cocktails to start. Freshly baked scones and muffins. Canadian bacon and scotch pancakes. French toast and smoked salmon. Different menu every day. Fantastic. Only down side was that it was quite a way out of the centre of Victoria, but the bus stopped right outside and was cheap and frequent. House was within walking distance of Craigdarrock Castle, a must see in Victoria. Also close to lots of antique shops.

I absolutely loved my stay at the Amethyst Inn. It was the first time I was traveling solo and everything about the inn gave me a sense of comfort. Wonderful room. wonderful jacuzzi soaking tub, the best breakfast ever, and the the owners and family are amazingly kind. I felt so well taken care of by everything they did. I still want to corn cakes recipe--- everyone at breakfast loved them. The house is charming and the inn keepers Abel and Shelly are amazing at making you feel welcome. Jenny their daughter shares her amazing knowledge of Victoria and even where to eat the best ice cream. I never had a B&B stay anywhere as lovely as the Amethyst Inn!

I felt I was welcomed as if I were a friend at the Amethyst Inn at Regents Park. My hosts were friendly, always willing to help/ give directions or leave me to myself when I wanted that. The building and decor were magnificent, particularly in the breakfast room. I felt I was experiencing life in an era long gone. I really valued seeing inside the houses in this area of Victoria. Breakfast was superb, I particularly enjoyed the fresh baked muffins and scones. In fact the cheese scones were the best I have ever tasted. Thank you!

The Inn is currently family owned, very friendly and welcoming. Owner Abel & daughter Jennifer served breakfast attentively while Mom Shelly cooked delicious breakfasts each morning. Jennifer helped us navigate on the city buses (remember to thank your driver when deboarding, the Canadian way!) We met & conversed with other guests each morning (we were the only Americans staying there). If you enjoy this kind of experience, you will love the Amethyst Inn! The Terrace rooms are in a building next to the house, small but cozy, price was attractive for the experience we were looking for.
