really enjoyable stay friendly staff very clean lovely food

Great little hotel for the weekend with friendly staff and is close to all the shopping,eating and drinking places. Would definately go again and stay in the Dolby hotel!!

Pros: This hotel is located on the water, a short walk away from the museums and the information office where we took the bus for the Beatles tour. The price is really good! Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast not included in the price but very good value for money, only five pounds, for a full continental breakfast with LOADS to choose from. Cons: We were 3 in the room (double bed and bunk bed), meaning 3 people who had to shower in the tiny washroom! They only provide 1 towel per person, meaning you have to use the same towel for hands and body. No shower mat either. We asked for an extra towel so we could use it when we washed our hands and they kindly provided it. They had a box of tissues with only 3 tissues in it! They didn't re-stock. They didn't re-stock tea or coffee either.

Room was booked for three people and it was like a caravan with a bunk bed over the top. There was work going on in the room next door so couldn't sleep. We won't be booking a room here again.

Our first stay at the Dolby - a couple of nights over what was obviously a busy weekend at the hotel. Even though they were busy, the staff were friendly and very helpful. Our breakfast was superb and excellent value. The rooms are small but perfectly fine if you are not planning to spend much time in them, which we weren't. I beleive the rooms are being refurbished which is probably a good idea. The location is superb - free parking at the hotel and you can easily walk into town. Overall, an excellent experience and we would both recommend the hotel and return there.

not bad at all warm welcome helpful staff comfy bed very close to albert dock, echo arena and the bar food was good... only downside the bathroom was a little shabby

This is basic Hostel accommodation. The rooms have an unconfortable bed with a bunk bed over the top. The bathroom is a plastic shower / sink with a toilet . The room has little sound insulation so can get noisey. I left after 2 nights and moved to a hotel room.

walkable to all main Liverpool sites

comfortable and friendly hotel

enjoyed our stay at the dolby but the only thing we didnt like was having to leave credit card details in case of damage to the room. we thought was disrespectful as we had only gone to liverpool to xmas shop.they must get some right people staying there.we go away lots and have never been asked that before. next time we pay that bit more in liverpool to stay in better hotel.

the hotel is located right beside the famous wharfs and short walk to the main parts of the city. It's clean and comfortable and the staff is very helpful. The only bad thing I could say is the distance walking from the train station is a bit far with bags (20-30mins)

LOVELY HOETEL VERY FRIENDLY STAFF RESURANT OVERLOOKED THE MERSEY AND THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD AND NOT EXPENSIVE I WILL BE HAPPY TO RETURN NEXT TIME I AM IN LIVERPOOL

Excellent value for money but very noisy every night: excessively loud music from another room, extremely noisy 'love'-making in the early hours of the morning, and door banging and shouting in the early hours of another morning. Such a shame as everything else was fine and the staff were excellent.

Excellent location. Great value for money. Only downside was very small shower-room and toilet. Very good standard of cleanliness. Highly recommend this hotel.

Very enjoybale stay with excellent pleasant staff. Hotel clean and tidy with the only negative being the size of the shower, but this was expected. Overall very good value and would have no difficulty in staying again.

Excellent staff, service and location

verry happy with the hotel the staff were excellent.the only drawback was the doors and windows need some serious soundproofing

We got placed in what we speculated used to be an office or a smoking room converted to a nonsmoking room. The room was very small and the bathroom even smaller. Showering with the curtain closed was not an option unless perhaps you are a child. I don't know if all the rooms were like this or only the one that we got (which was the cheapest). The good stuff is the location. It is right on the water with beautiful views as well as very close to tourist attraction such as liverpools wheel and the beetles museum. It is also not a far walk to bars an shops toward the center of town. Overall it is worth it to stay there for the location if you are staying for a short time.

Staff very helpfull, lovely resteraunt overlooking the King's Dock. Good pub across the road (Coburg). Very close to the Echo Arena and Albert dock and the Yellow Duck.

AS we were looking for a cheap hotel close to the waterfront the Dolby seemed ideal. Everything was OK until the early hours of the morning (2p.m.) when we were awakened by loud shouting in the corridor by youths trying to get into young girls rooms who were residents. This shouting and banging of doors went on for some time. Eventually the three youths sat on the railings outside our first floor window calling and whistling up at the girls rooms. This continued until 4.p.m. Question - was there security in place? Was anyone on duty to deal with this? It appeared not ! We had to shut our window on what was a very hot night to shut out much of the noise. It was most uncomfortable. It spoilt an enjoyable two days in Liverpool.

As stated by previous reviewers the room was on the compact side and the bathroom tiny, we found it perfect for an over night stay. The location was ideal for us and the breakfast was lovely especially with the views from the room.

Lovely place to stay, clean, tidy, friendly staff. would recommend to anyone. Shops and attractions within walking distance

Appearance of hotel was modern and well kept . Reception staff friendly and most helpful. Room itself was clean and tidy, clean linen on beds and fluffy towels. Great value but only downside was it was a 10/15 minute walk from centre of Liverpool. Ask for room overlooking the river. Lovely lounge and dining area. Would book again though if price was right.

The bus number 500 from the airport stopped right outside. The Continental breakfast was good value with plenty of variety. Ask for a water view and you may be lucky. We booked four months in advance but because we had not asked we did not get. Our room smelt strongly of glue as the carpet had to be changed the day before and we eventually got another room, but still no view. The bathroom was the smallest we have ever seen, in a tiny plastic capsule. Added to which the shower head only dribbled and I was not able to wash my hair. Had I been larger than a size 12, I would not have been able to stand in the shower! There is no lift, which may cause a problem with luggage. This is an economy hotel and is good value but letting itself down on details.

Hotel is in an excellent position being approx 10 mins walk from Albert Docks and Liverpool One. Overall we were very pleased with the hotel, but as other reviews have mentioned, the ensuite shower was very small and more like a wet room, with water going everywhere when you took a shower. The prices for breakfast, snacks and evening meals in the hotel restaurant where very competative, and you would have struggled to beat them at eating places in the surrounding area.

Very comfortable. Excellent evening meal,specially cooked and very hot. Enjoyable continental breakfast with 10% off when booked the previous evening. Would have preferred the hotel to have a b and b tariff..

Very good budget hotel. Girl on reception very friendly and helpful. Room was clean with comfortable bed. Toiletries, hair dryer, tissues, TV and tea and coffee making facilities provided. Didn't expect this from this type of hotel. On the downside, bathroom was very small. Only just managed to squeeze into shower and I am quite small. Would definitely stay here again when visiting Liverpool.

Great value for money, easy walking distance to city centre & tourist attractions, clean and tidy, very pleasant & helpful staff, would definitely recommend. We spent a couple of days in the city using this hotel as a base and it was ideal. The rooms were comfortable, albeit the shower room was a little compact, and provided everything we needed with some rooms overlooking the dock. The continental breakfast was reasonably priced and plentiful and the hotel are happy for you to leave your car in the car park for the whole day on the day of departure for your last minute sightseeing or shopping. We'll book here again next time we're in Liverpool.

Very nice staff and very helpful. The room suited 3 guys needs and we will definitiely return to this hotel in the near future.

Seems pleasant on arrival. Rooms were clean and tidy but basic. The ensuite was tiny. Like a porta-loo, all plastic and very basic shower. No phones in rooms. Food is very basic and almost impossible to get a breakfast which is served from 7am to 9.30am is a joke! To be avoided if possible. Can't say didn't warn you!

The hotel was excellent and the staff were great and very polite the room was great and the food good i would recommend it to anyone.

Nice hotel. Clean and comfortable. No frills. Not really within walking distance of the city centre so either your own transport or a taxi would be needed to get there. Our room had a lovely view of the river but we had to ask for one. Only real criticism is the lack of towels in the room. Only one per person and no phone to ring down to ask for extras.

We loved the location right near the newly refurbished dock area and the view from the lobby restaurant of the marina was really great. It helped that we had a very sunny January day as well. The staff were so friendly and went out of their way to help use. We weren't sure what to expect with a budget hotel but we really loved our stay. The room had a double bed and then an actual bunk bed above and it was all so clean and comfortable. This hotel is not about frills so go expecting a clean room with a small bathroom but if you are like us and are out all day enjoying the city then you don't need to have a huge room. Also the hotel had the feel of being in on a ship in some ways even having little porthole windows in the stairwell. We were just so happy with the staff and also they had free parking and free internet access in the comfortable lobby bar/restaurant area.

Clean, comfortable, perfect for a budget weekend break or overnight stay in Liverpool. 15 mins walk from Lime Street station, close enough to walk to city centre bars/restaurants. Tiny bathroom but not a big deal.

We left the car in the free hotel car park for the 3 days of our stay. Easy walking distance to Albert Dock, ferry terminal, Liverpool 1 shops and galleries, museums and cathedrals. Continental breakfast was great value for money and cooked breakfast looked good on someone else's table. Rooms were quiet & clean, beds comfortable and showers hot. We couldn't have asked for more.

Hotel close to everything. Room clean. Nice bar/dining area. But hair dryer didnt work in room. When I went to query this- i was told i would get a replacement one sent to the room. The next day I was still waiting so went down again to reception (no phone in room) and asked another girl who pointed out they didnt have any replacements and there was no way of fixing the hair dryer. only after I caused a bit of a fuss was one miraculousy found for me. Staff were unfriendly and didnt seem to care. Also noise levels werent great at night time but I would have got over that. I would have recommended this hotel only for the staff to be honest.

The staff were excellent at this hotel. So friendly and willing to help with anything. This included changing out Scottish money for English (we were told some places may not except it). We were given extra pillows when we requested them. My only complaint would be the bathroom. It was so small and as it had a wetroom style floor, everytime we had showers the whole floor was like a swimming pool. The shower area was tiny and there was no room for movement. If you lifted your arm and knock the shower it would turn off. For our 2 night stay it was bareable.However if we had been staying longer it may have been more of an issue. Overall a great hotel with excellent staff.

The Dolby Hotel Liverpool is situated on the water front a stone throw from The Albert Dock a 10 minute walk from City Centre, or £5.00 taxi fee. The Hotel was clean and tidy with the room being reasonably comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfast was plentiful at a very reasonable price. Liverpool boasts a Great Shopping area for those who want to shop, with some great attractions if you like the Beatles,Football and the City has a wealth of history. Night life was great with plenty of good Historic Pubs to visit at reasonable prices, despite all the banter Liverpool recieves as being rough, we found it a great place to stay and the natives very very friendly( towards the Welsh atleast).
