Getting old

Pleased with how clean the room was. Cost was reasonable and breakfast was good.

Went for a night on way from PA to SC. Great place.

Kudos to Roy. The first room I was placed in, the AC plug did not reach the outlet , and the light over the sink did not work. I went and asked Roy if I could have a room with a AC we could make function, Roy went to the room, investigated the problem; then profusely apologized and begun searching for another room for me, he asked me to wait as he went off looking. A few minutes passed and he came by, slightly out of breath and grabbed one of my bags and asked me to follow him; he brought me to what I assume is one of the newly renovated rooms, he had the AC already on for me. They may have to do a little better thinking when they renovate some of these rooms; but that's not Roy's fault so I'd like to commend Roy on his outstanding customer service.

Remodeling under way on the rooms. We stayed in one of the remodeled rooms and it was done over very well. Beds were great. Tub was big. Granite countertops around sink. Flat screen TV. Very comfortable and clean. Only negative was the showerhead. We would stay there again.

While I was on the road, my husband booked the room for my daughter and I online. He gave me the phone number, and I called ahead to ask for a first floor room. The hotel attendant asked me for my eta, and when we arrived our room was ready for us with the heat on! I am so happy with their service and that extra step helped us quickly ease in for the night. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely call again when we make this trip to visit family again!!

ok hotel, our 3rd stay. Next to Shoneys; breakfast is very limited.

the customer service was top notch. Once we checked in, I even received a phone call to see how satisfied I was with the condition of the room. Cracker Barrell is jsut across the street which was great since the continental breakfast at the hotel was stale.

It was very comfortable. The only problem with the entire stay was the cable TV. There were only 9 channels and they all came in fuzzy. But the internet worked OK so I pulled out my Macbook and watched Hulu. I was very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel. The lobby even smelled fresh!

Gross! run down! Didn't sleep very well. Wanted to get the heck outta there!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Red Roof in Staunton, VA, on our way to a football game in Lexington VA the following day. The room was very spacious, even with a desk and office chair in the room. For starters, it had a nice hardwood floor; which was a nice surprise. It also came with a small fridge and microwave, which we did not use, but I think should be standard in ANY hotel room. The hotel itself sits right off of I-81, but we heard no traffic noise at all. The rate was very reasonable, and there were NO unpleasant surprises, of any kind. If I had to give the room failing marks for anything, it would have to be the cable television. The tv was a new hi-def flat-screen (appeared to be a 32 or 36-inch Magnavox), but it only picked up 12 stations, and every single one was analog, and had horrible reception. I even ran a channel scan to see if I could pick up any OTA hi-def stations, but there was nothing in the area, apparently. Of course, we weren't there to watch tv, but I thought it worth mentioning. The Red Roof also offered a continental breakfast in a nice seating area off of the office, but we missed it, since it was only offered from 6-9am (not a complaint; just mentioning that we did not take advantage of this perk). The good news: there's a nice Shoneys restaurant literally a hundred feet from the hotel (easily walkable). Overall, a great idea for an one or two night stay, and it's easy on and off of the interstate.

Red Roof has done a renovation on many of their Motels. I keep staying there because I like what they have done. Dogs stay free and nice plus. Staff at desk was very pleasant and helpful. Room was clean and it actually had a very pleasant odor when you first walked in. Only draw back was that the floors, which are now wood laminent instead of carpeting was a little too slippery for the dog. (bring a rubber backed floor runner if you have a dog.)All in all I would use this motel again.

We found our hotel room clean and comfortable. The morning breakfast was very nice for a continental breakfast. It was just what we needed to get going in the morning for the next leg of our travel, a clean, comfortable room and good quick breakfast. The only negative was that the linens weren't crisp, but slightly worn, and the bedding underneath moved when turning over at night. Other than that it was a comfortable, clean stay.

Recall that you're paying the minimum, so you get what you pay for. What was unusual was that the first room I was put in had a ventilation unit with a chord that wouldn't reach the outlet. After changing rooms, everything met expectations. Pool, while not important for my purposes, was not functioning.

I had to find a place in this area to stay for 5 nights. I booked the first night at this Red Roof Inn and though I stayed there for the night I booked, I found other accomodations for the rest of the trip. The room was dark and dank-the carpeting felt almost wet and was not clean at all. The lady at the front desk wasn't friendly or helpful at all. Their breakfast consisted of stale donuts and cold cereal and they ran out of coffee about the time I got there.

Hotel convenient to the highway. Small 'double' beds. Something powdery on the bathroom floor. Glad for the continental breakfast, there was a nice variety. Staff very pleasant. Hotel definitely on the old side, pool not available, looked like the roof had caved in.

Staff, especially Nancy, was very helpful and friendly. Rooms were excellent, except one room smelled so strongly of air freshener spray we had to get another room. all was taken care of quickly and professionally. Very highly recommended hotel.

would not stay again .floors were matted they were so dirty. air conditioning was poor. place was run down looking. no water in the pool. no "extra mile" foe adjoining room that i could care for my elderly mother traveling with us due to having pets in two rooms. well behaved pets mind you.

My opinion of a room is based on how clean the bathroom is - the jetted tub in this room looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years! The black mold on the jets was just disgusting. The mold around the base of the tub was just as bad. Something some bleach and a scrub brush would have cleaned I'm sure! The table in the room smelled like an ashtray even though the room was 'smoke free'. Not a place I would stay again... sorry!

great price, great hotel for stop on trip home from florida

Newer motel well kept and comfortable

Prices were rather high despite graduation week in Harrisonburg which was a 23 mile drive away.Room was very dated with older furniture, tube TV, peeling vinyl wallpaper in bathroom and a missing on/off switch on floor lamp. No hair dryer included. Not a good value for the price.Would not recommend to friends.

I travel often for business and will stay there again. Everything great!

Good overnight stop along I-81 or when visiting JMU from the south.

Quiet neighborhood, clean, comfortable. Usual basic-not-so good breakfast, but Shoney's is next door

A very nice hotel to stay the night . Hotel was clean and quite . Shoneys restaurant next door had a very good buffet . Bathroom clean and beds comfortable

We stopped for one night on our way to New England. The price was great and the service was good (we requested extra blankets, towels, and shampoo), but the walls were horribly thin, and the breakfast was kind of disappointing.

Good room for the price, no frills but no major drawbacks either. Cleaner and nicer than most hotels in the same price range.

Very comfortable, very close to 81 but very quiet. Really enjoyed walking in the nearby park with the dogs! We will definitely stay again on our trip from CT to NC.

good value for the money

a two star hotel.everyone was nice.. room was adequate. Hotel is off the road behind Shoney's. McD's on the corner was a plus. Get good directions before you go.

A very old motel, clean with a recently refinished bathroom. quite, beds were excellent. staff was pleasant and helpful.

The only thing negitive I can say is the breakfast was nto all that good. the Gravy was made from a powder mix and the muffines old. The staff was nice and friendly, gave directions. Room looked clean. Pillows too soft.

Stayed here 3 nights when my husband and I evacuated our home in Norfolk durning Hurricane Irene. I got there WAY early (10:30 AM) and the lovely ladies at the front desk were kind enough to let me check in early so I could rest in our room. Room was clean, smelled fine and the beds were comfy and smelled good. This place was literally a life-saver for us and our cats, and, for the price, was extremely adequate. The family that owns and runs it are very kind. Thank you for taking care of us through a rough few days!

Good quality hotel that accepts pets. Also near the Frontier Culture Museum, which I highly recommend.

The front desk service was wonderful...very friendly. We were there Christmas night and it was great to feel welcome. The hotel is older and could use some updating but it served our purpose...a clean, safe place to sleep on the way to our destination.

I arrived later than I expected and called to make sure the room would still be available. The front desk clerk was very helpfull upon my arrival. The room itself leaves much to be desired. It was clean but it is definitely showing it's age. The tub floor was stained black and bare spots were in high traffic areas of the carpet. Since it was just a place to sleep, shower and hit the road the next morning I found it to be adequate. That was until 2 am when the in room fridge started making a nosie that made me think someone was breaking in the room. I didn't feel like calling the front desk to possibly have to change rooms and ended up unplugging the fridge since I had nothing in it. It took a little time for me to settle down and get back to sleep between that and the rock hard bed. I would say this hotel would be adequate for a simple overnight stay but I couldn't deal with the room for the long term. The surrounding neighborhood seemed safe so I had little concern about safety with exterior entrances to the room. The best thing about the property is that Mrs. Rowes is across the street. You've got to eat there.

The staff was friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself is old and in need of some repair.

This is an older property that is being refurbished. It looks pretty good on the outside, but they still have a long way to go. The first thing we noticed was that the refrigerator in the room was dead. The desk clerk wouldn't take our word for that, and sent a guy to check that it was plugged in (we'd already verified that). They swapped the refrigerator, but we also had noticed by that time that the air conditioning was not really putting out much in the way of cool air. The maintenance guy just said it would get cooler eventually. It didn't. The electrical outlets in the bathroom area were dead, so the hair dryer didn't work and there was nowhere to plug in a shaver. Someone had dropped a plastic lid into the sink drain, making it slow. We could see it down there but couldn't reach it. The bed squeeked with every move. The room was fairly clean except for the cobwebs on the ceiling, but the breakfast was below average. On the whole, this place needs a lot more remodeling and updating to get it up to speed. We know it's a budget chain and we don't expect a great deal. But the basics ought to function.

The room was ok...The front door to the room had a gap between the ground and the bottom of the door. It was big enough where you could slide your fingers underneath it. Big enough for a mouse to even come in if needed be or some other type of critter. Not to mention, we itched all night while sleeping and for the next day after we checked out. I am wondering what bed bugs might feel like...
