I had no problems. It was perfect. I will be going back!

I was concerned about being so far from the action, but when i arrived at the hotel i was very pleased with the location. My wife and i enjoyed the stay. The beach is much nicer and alot cleaner. The view was great and it was nice to have a balcony door from the living area and bedroom. Overall was the nicest place i have stayed, and i have been to some nice hotels ! Only thing i did not like was the no breakfast and coffee down at the lobby. This is the place to go for a nice quiet walk on a clean beach. The pool and hot tub, and the long deck onto the beach was very nice.

We had a wonderful time at the hotel. It was located a few miles away from downtown Galveston, but close to sight seeing. We walked a very short distance to the beach. The sunrises were amazing! Feeding the seagulls is one of my favorite things to do. Plenty of activites for everyone from volleyball, horseshoes, backetball, shuffle board, something for all. Very relaxing! We plan to come back soon. A full size kitchen with pots and pans, even a washer/dryer.

We only stayed 2 nights, but wish we had stayed longer. Very satisfied with the whole resort. Will be back!

We enjoyed this resort/hotel. It was like staying in a resort at hotel prices. We had a B unit, which had one bedroom, and a fold out couch, very small balcony and small kitchenette, which was perfect for our 3 person family for a short 3-day stay. I would want a bigger unit if staying longer. The ONLY problem was the hot tub was not heating while we were there and that was a bummer because it turned out to be rather chilly while we were there, so we really wanted to get in. But they did say they were working on it and I would think it would be fixed soon. And even though we didn't get to enjoy it much, they do have a beautiful infinity pool. (a couple more lounge chairs would have been nice). Also we were a few miles down the road from what seemed to be the "main" touristy area, kinda nice if you don't like crowds, but in more of the main season, you may miss out on some of the fun. Otherwise, very clean, extremely friendly staff - would go again.

We enjoyed our stay. The room and hotel was very clean and comfortable. We will return.

Terrible!!! Property is overpriced. Not worht the money. We get there on Saturday march 9 and everything started wrong. Get a room we dont want. the only choice we have was to stay or leave and be charge for one night. Was spring break and they dont have nothing else. We book for 5 night and after the third night we want to leave, but my wife convince me to stay the other 2 night just to no loose the money. The swimming pool was cold or freezing. No enough chair so we have to stand in the wall with our beloging, and leave there to go to the pool. The beach not good at all.. CONCLUSION : NEVER COME BACK AGAIN and not only to this hotel any Holiday Inn. Was a throw away money. Only good things Kitchen is fully equipped.

Room was just cleaned (floor still wet) even though we checked in at 6pm. Check in could have been faster. Good location, 1-2 miles from the end of seawall, still on the beach. Newly remodeled and stocked, light wear on furnishings. All facilities were clean. AC was not cooling during the night, forgot to check with the front desk before heading out in the morning. Still not working when i returned (8pm). I called the front desk, no answer. 10pm, no better. I called front desk, maintenance checked the room unit, then roof unit. The front desk called me, the unit was frozen solid. They offered to move me, I declined. There were ceiling fans in each room and i had the balcony door open. I was told by from desk that "in the future keep in mind that this is a time share facility so the units are considerably smaller." It may have been my fault, but you don't ever make the customer feel that way! Once the unit began to thaw water was dropping from the intake into the hallway floor. I tried to call the front deal and security at about 11:15 to inform them of this but got no answer at either one. Overall a nice stay just wonder if AC would be a problem in hottest summer months.

The location was perfect for us. The one bedroom condo was very comfortable even when our two small grandchildren decided to spend the night. The kitchen was fully stocked with Fiesta ware and corning dishes. The location , right on the beach, was the heated pool was a plus with weather in the 70's. It is a little bit away from the activities at the seawall--but a very short drive to all restaurants and attractions. We will definitely return!

Very pleased with location..Liked the quiet seclusion of being on the beach. I cannot find anything negative about my stay at this point other than the weather but thats not the hotels fault..I hope that my next stay there is just as good. I am glad that I stayed there vs anywhere else b/c its not just a room, its a mini apartment. Staff was very accomodating and pleasant the entire time even personally checked on us the second day.

I loved it!

The hotel was beautiful and very quiet with stellar beach views. Having a washer and dryer available to the suite was extremely convenient. And the hotel staff was very accommodating.

Enjoyed the large balcony with the sliding doors. Left sliding doors open at night to hear the waves of the beach all night long. Loved that you can access to the beach. Water in pool wasn't as warmed as we hoped but enjoyed the jacuzzi. Great place to stay!!! Will be back!!!! :)

Asked for special accomendations and none was met. They had rooms available that would of met my needs, but chose not to offer it even when I offered to pay more.

things l liked about the resort: 1. excellent amenities-swimming pool, hot water pool, gym, basketball court, activity room. 2. easy access to the beach 3. in my budget and had partial view of the beach 4. really clean.it has been bought by holiday inn, hope the prices and the quality remains the same

Loved it! Kid friendly. Right on beach. Was quiet and felt like a private beach area.

I was not informed by either Hotel or Hotel.com at time of booking that the hotel was under major renovation. I arrived late at nite and the only person at front desk was upset that security guard had not shown up and they had called her in...after she finished with her calls..apprarently had had a fire alarm go off, I was finally given the keys but it did not leave a good feeling about the stay. Overall conditon of room was ok, I had a great view, but the building was noticably under major renovation.

Hotel name is actually Escapes. We drove around for an hour an a half looking for the hotel. The number listed on my reservation was a non-working number. The customer service number was automated. I had to finally chose an option to make a complaint to speak to a human. She was able to give me a correct phone number. I called the hotel and got directions, we had passed them up multiple times, due to the name being different from the original booking. I informed them of our difficulty locating the hotel and the incorrect information on hotels.com. When we arrived to the hotel early, before check in, they had a room available for us and also upgraded our room to a suite. The room was fabulous and the customer services at the hotel was excellent. Hotels.com needs to update their information.

The location was great, you could walk directly on the beach from the pool area. There was some construction but it didn't cause any problems. The room was clean and well stocked with towels,kitchen utensils, and even a washer-dryer.

I had a beautiful stay. The only problem was 2 dead bugs and had I known that construction work was going on I would have chosen another hotel. The room was beautiful. I had a view of pool and ocean. Simply beautiful.

The hotel staff was very accommodating.We had to move to three different rooms.The first room wasover the office and pool.Great view,however the pool music wasvery loud-speakers under and around the balcony.We asked for a quit room.They gave us aroom on the east side where construction was going on ( for several months !-loud jack hammers ).We asked to move again.They gave us a larger room on the west side next to the road.Trafic noise if you set outside.I have to say you want to book a upgraded room-larger ,nicer, and had a king bed-not a queen.Telephone # listed on the web is not correct and the name on the hotel is Escape.The pool is grat, the appliances beds etc are almost new.The Tv are the older style but work fine.The beach was clean and we enjoyed our trip.

Hotel hard to find because it had a different name on the side of the hotel than what we booked. We were up and down the road and stopped several times for directions. No clear signs to point you towards check in.

enjoyable, will repeat visit

I only have two quick complaints about this stay. First, when booking the hotel, the name was called Galveston on the Gulf. I had read earlier reviews that said the name was previously Escapes to the Gulf, but I figured surely by now they would have changed the signs. If I hadn't known this, we would have been lost because the name still hasn't been changed. I asked the lady in the office and she said they were in transition. Also, we got there at night and drove in circles because there was no clear sign stating where to check in. Our room was one of the ones on the end and had its own washer and dryer which came in handy. I was told the other rooms had to share one. We had a one bedroom deluxe. It had a large balcony and nice kitchen area. It was also very clean. The pool was great for the kids. On Friday morning, we were the only ones there. Even as the weekend went on it really never got crowded. The hotel is a few miles down from the seawall area, so it's also less crowded also at the beach. Overall, we had a great stay and would come here again.

A great view with a balcony and right on the beach..no walking accross the street. It was like you had your own private beach, most people were from the hotel. When I booked I did not realize it came with a full kitchen and a washer/dryer in the room. We were very happy with our stay and will definatly be back!

We had an awesome stay. This place is great for families as all rooms offer a full kitchen, very nice pool area and immediate beach access! Most rooms feature ocean views. There is even a handicapped pool chair. The only downsides are as follows: the pool is not for small kids as there is no kiddie pool and the most shallow area is 3.6 feet. No "close" restaurants; although it was a good thing for me because I didn't want to be in the Galveston busy areas. The beach is not over-run and crowded..almost like having a private beach.

Very good! Our 1st trip to Galveston - we brought 2 grandsons who enjoyed the quiet beach & pool - not far from Moody Gardens and went there every day. All staff was friendly & very helpful, and other guests didn't have late, loud parties! Views & amenities were as advertised, location nice & quiet. Only cons were there was no 7-11 or small restaurant in walking distance, and I'm sorry I delayed making reservations in time to get a 2 br unit; our 1 br unit was a bit snug for 2 cranky geezers and energetic 10 and 17 y/o boys! Oh, my wife prefers being on a noisy, tacky boardwalk - we didn't see anything like that in our travels, so we'll probably return to Escapes!

did not relax much

The hotel is fantastic. The staff is very courteous and the hotel is very clean. Our room was awesome, there is plenty of room and privacy for parents. Our view from the balcony was spectacular and the sounds from the ocean very relaxing. The location is great because it is away from the crowd but still close enough not to cause any inconvenience. It has it's own access to the beach and it is much cleaner than the east side where all the attractions and people are. We enjoyed it do much, we are planning on making it an annual trip.

The televisions need to be updated badly.

The facility is clean with good access to the pool and beach. The suite was comfortable with the appropriate amenities. The TV sets are old and outdated but the channel selection was good. The tile in our unit was chipped in a couple of places and the floor looked like it needed sweeping the whole time. (even though it had been swept). We were surprised with a $115 hit on our credit card at check in. This was not spelled out in the listing. They promised to reverse it upon checkout. The boardwalk to the beach was closed for painting the Friday and Saturday that we were there. It was only available for use one day that we were there. Seems like they should have picked a less busy time other than the weekend. Since these are time share suites they do not offer maid service. The room, however was supplied with ample towels during our three day stay. All in all, we would return for a short stay. They don't allow pets so we would not book this facility for a whole week.

very nice condo, perfect size for two people getting away for our anniversary. Very Clean and like a small apartment with a tiny balcony to see the gulf. Pool was great and access to beach easy. The only thing is that when we were trying to find the condos he name on the outside was escapes not galveston on the gulf and the phone number on our itinerary was wrong so had to call hotels.com for new number.

Great place to stay. Price per night can't be beat when you compare it to other hotels with comparable ratings. We will be going back later this summer with the kids for a longer stay

In general, we were not pleased with the room size and the location to all the sights and things to do on the island. Our biggest problem was the resort name changed and we had to drive for almost an hour looking for the resort.

The place was clean and the staff were very friendly. I would have stayed for two weeks if I could. The access to the beach was perfect, the decor of the rooms and the pool area was beautiful!
