Petro Palace Hotel - سانت بترسبرج

I stayed here in April with my 16 year old daughter. The staff were very friendly, well-informed and extremely helpful. I had paid for breakfast and luckily I took along a print-out of my booking because it did not show up on their system but it was all sorted out in a friendly manner. The Petro Palace is ideally situated for shopping, buses, metro and all the big sites. The photos of the hotel's interior are misleading, it is nothing like as grand and luxurious as we expected and the entrance is through a door to the side. But the rooms are fine, blandly modern but very clean, no tea or coffee making facilities but the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in!

The location is second to none. It is a 3 minute walk to the hermitage. Coffee shops abound within 1-2 blocks. The concierge will take the time to steer you in the right direction. Has a sky bar without a great view, kind of an afterthought but an ok place for a quiet drink. There is a pool but I didn't use it. Near public transportation.

I would stay there again if I wanted to visit the main tourist attractions.

Undergoing some reconstruction to the lobby while I was there- which will only make it more fabulous in the future. Handy to the centre and friendly staff. Very warm rooms. Gypsy band plays in restaurant and the dancing near is hilarious. Would stay again.

Having gone just this weekend, this hotel has placed itself firmly in my mind as the worst 4* hotel I've EVER stayed in. The rooms were poor, and the lighting was awful (very yellow and very depressing). The staff were rude and extremely unhelpful on numerous occasions. They would not call a normal taxi, only their taxi company could be used...after speaking with a Russian tourist rep, they said that this was not normal, contrary to what the hotel had told me. Moreover, their taxis cost on average 2.5 times as much as getting the taxi yourself. For instance, to get to the hotel, it will cost you 700 P in a normal taxi, with the hotel, it costs 1700. Similarly, around the city, they will charge a minimum of 500 P for a taxi as opposed to 150 or so through normal companies.

Close to everything you want to see. Avoid the breakfast buffet, too expensive for what they're serving.The staff are top notch, and very knowledgeable of their city.

This was a nice hotel in a great location. Pros: -breakfast was great -beautiful building -room was very large -let us BYOB in the Sky Bar Cons: -in room wifi is not free -wifi in common areas was slow -no slippers -gym is only free in the morning -no in-room coffee/tea I would stay here again, but will probably go to a Radisson Sofia because it is newer.

The hotel is within a convenient walk to the Hermitage. There are a number of restaurants in the area of the hotel. The spa is relatively small, but does have a jacuzzi and sauna. Internet is available for a charge. It seemed that the rooms were too warm and I was unable to decrease the temperature in my room except for opening a window. The main train station is about 10 minutes and the international airport is 45 minutes by taxi. The staff were very helpful and many of them spoke English very well.

This Hotel is within walking distance to: Hermitage, the Admiralty,St. Isaac's Cathedral and Nevskiy Prospekt. It is also close to about 50 places to eat. The hotel also has a nice restrauent. The only problem was the heating in the room. It seems like they turn the heat down during the day and up late at night. We would wake up a 2:oo am and it would be 90 degrees in the room. We tried to control it with the thermostat but I do not believe that it worked.

The hotel is in an ideal location, the staff were courteous and responsive. The room was spacious. The only complaint is that the mattress had beg bugs. After initial skepticism when requesting the mattress be sprayed, they changed my room after seeing the bite marks on the back of my neck. No other issues. Enjoyed the pool, spa, and jacuzzi.

Very good location, close to all main attractions but far from metro. Bed and shower are very small. OK service, should be better for 4 stars though

Stayed at the Petro Palace for 2 nights this October, and was pleasantly surprised given the reasonable price. Room was spacious and clean, and the hotel only 5 minutes walk from the Hermitage. Perfect combination for traveling rather than a special weekend.

Comfortable walking distance to the Hermitage and all other places we chose to visit. Great choice of good restaurants nearby too. Felt safe.

We enjoyed so much this hotel. Excellent location at walking distance to many main attractions, nice rooms, breakfast and attentive staff.

The Hotel is located just a few minutes walk from the Hermitage Museum and a block away from St. Isaac Cathedral. We enjoyed staying here and getting a room where our breakfast buffette was included in the price of the room. We stayed in Saint Petersburg for 10 days and we enjoyed ours stay in a very comfortable room, with a good size bathroom with a regular shower head and a built in-fan. There were small details that we valued as they made our stay more comfortable. For example, we could use the Computer at the Business Center at no extra cost. Besides the regular breakfast buffette they would cook eggs to order and add bacon, ham, sausage, etc. Our room had a thermometer in both centigrades and farenheit so we could always tell what the temperature was. There was also a 5 day weather report posted at the front desk and it was pretty accurate. The Bear Restaurant downstairs offered a limited menu, but the food was very tasty and at good prices. We ate there about 6 times. We also enjoyed the music featured in the Restaurant. The Concierges were there until late at night every day. Some of them are better than others at providing accurate information. For example, the lady that told us how to get to Pushkin to see Katherine's Palace was very well informed and gave us good directions. On the other hand,when we tried to visit Beloselsky Palace on Nevsky Prospekt we asked another young lady at the Concierge's what type of displays were there in this Museum and she said that it was just "an old palace" with furniture. So, we asked directions and the times that it was opened. She gave us the directions, but she never checked in the computer that she had right infront of her, so as a result, we found out after walking there for half an hour in the rain, that the Museum IS CLOSED AND HAS BEEN CLOSED for along period of time. So, I advise you that if you are interested in seeing something outside The Hermitage and Peterhoff, that you do some research before you come to Sai

A classic hotel with good front desk and housekeeping services. Pricey options including mini-bar and lobby drinks. Good elevator service. Bed in our room needed new mattress. A little far to the Metro but good bus service. Over-all, a comfortable place to stay.

We found this hotel to be very good in many ways. Very close to major sites in St Petersburg. Very good rates.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Petro Palace. It is one block to St. Isaac's Cathedral and one block to the Admirality. We did all of our sightseeing by foot (to the Fortress one day, the Hermitage and the Church of the Spilled Blood another) even with 3 children along. We had booked 2 rooms at the hotel for our party of seven. Both rooms they gave us were designed for those with impaired mobility (in one of the rooms it was because we had 2 extra beds). The room on the sixth floor was light and airy, with a view to the courtyard. The room on the first floor was significantly darker because the window overlooked the part of the main floor where the concierge and gift shop were located. Also, there was no light in the shower of the first floor room, and no safe in this room either. We shared the safe in the sixth floor room, although it was not large enough for a laptop. Neither room had a safety latch or deadbolt. Our room rate included the buffet breakfast with which we were satisfied - lots of fresh fruit and dessert buns. Some items were changed each day. Some of the staff spoke English, and if they couldn't they fetched someone who could. We had booked standard rooms which are supposed to have restrictions on availability to use the pool (between 7 and 11 am), however, we were able to use the pool anytime we wished without charge (no explanation why) and used it every day. All staff we spoke with at the hotel were friendly and helpful.

This hotel is perfectly located, just a few minutes walk to Hermitage. Staff speaks english and they are very helpful.

As many reviewers already said, this hotel is in a great location, right in the middle of everything. The rooms were big, although for the price I was expecting a bit more. Maid service was excellent, I called for an extra towel at 4 am and 2 minutes later someone was at my door with the towel. I highly recommend pool and sauna downstairs. Also, word of caution if you need a registration, stay on top of the personnel downstairs. They promised me a registration stamp and even took money for it ($10/person) but never delivered. We discovered this when we had to catch a train for Moscow and couldn't do anything about it. Very disheartening and disappointing. If someone stopped us and asked for it, we would have been in trouble.

The hotel was wonderfully located; the best possible location. The rooms were okay. Our first room had an air conditioning problem, but the hotel changed our room when we told them it was too hot. The hotel was very clean.

Petro Palace Hotel is an excellent palace-hotel, fully reformed and really well located. You can reach easily walking: hermitage, St' Isaac's Cathedral, Newsky Prospect and all the city attractions. Moreover, the hotel is really clean, the attention is good and the quality-price relationship is excellent. If i had to recommend a hotel in Sant Petersburg i would recommend this one.

Excellent location: easy walking distance (husband is 83 and he did it comfortably) to Hermitage museum, Philharmonic concert hall, Russian Museum, Mariinsky (Kirov) ballet theatre, St Isaac's cathedral, Our Lady of Kazan cathedral, Church of the Spilled Blood, shopping, restaurants, etc....basically everything except the Alexander Nevsky monastery. Breakfast buffet very disappointing: poor selection (2 or 3 versions of "sausage"---meaning weiners), scrambled eggs flooded in liquid, tasteless pastry, one cabbage salad, the toughest "fritters" (pancakes) I've ever encountered. Even buffet in Kiev was better (not to mention Rembrandt Hotel in London or countless small hotels in Italian countryside). Staff was cold and snooty, with exception of one bellman who checked out bags for us on day of departure and housekeeping lady. Everyone else scowled, had stony faces, and acted as if they'd not heard you. (To be fair, we found this in general in the city: in stores, most restaurants, ticket offices.) It was pricey, but worth it for the location alone (and the fact that it was very clean).

Not that great for a 4 star hotel. It seems kind of run down and out of date. However, it was in a great location for a decent price. The concierge was helpful and the room worked well.

Petro Palace is a great hotel in an ideal location. It's a comfortable walking distance to many of St. Petersburg's sights (Nevsky Prospekt, St. Isaac's Cathedral, Neva River) and the rooms are clean and well-maintained.

For a tourist visit to St Petersburg, this hotel has the perfect location. A stone's throw from St Isaacs, The Hermitage, Nevskiy Prospekt; all the main tourist locations are within an easy walk. The hotel just about qualifies its 4 star rating. The lobby area is cramped, corridors are narrow, Bedrooms are spartan but comfortable and clean. The restaurant is very good and no more expensive than the restaurants in the immediate neighbourhood. The 'Sky bar' on the top floor is worth a visit, although it is worth noting there is no such thing as a non-smoking bar in Russia. If breakfast is not included in, you are given the choice of paying for the (expensive) full buffet or being shunted around the corner into a small rather 'Soviet' style room for a 'continental' breakfast. This was definitely not of a 4-star standard.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Right around the corner from the Hermitage & Nevsky Prospect - the main drag. Great for sight seeing. The hotel itself is old, and the rooms out dated. The staff were all helpful and all spoke English.

The hotel was very convenient because it was a 5 min walk to the Ermitage and located downtown so good for restaurants. However the rooms are completely free of charm, you could be anywhere in the world once you are in that room. The bed was VERY comfortable but no tub in the bathroom, only a shower (with a plastic rug on the floor). The breakfast was included in our package and was very nice (buffet style). The restaurant was good too, with Russian fares (very kitsch however with a stuffed bear in the middle of the room!) Overall a good value if you're not looking for old Europe charm...

PP had many conveniences such as multiple lounges and bars and proximity to key sights such as Winter Palace (Hermitage) and St Isaac''s. Excellent concierge service though expensive taxi services. Great city experience.

The hotel was fine and is in a great locations, there were no problems with it. However, we decided to book a nice 4star hotel as it was my mothers birthday and this one was discounted (although still quite expensive) and I was a little disappointed as I was expecting something a bit more special. It definately would not have been worth the full price and there were cheaper hotels in the neighbouring area that looked nicer than this one when we got there. However, can't fault anything in particular, just a little expensive for what it is - but the location is great!

1st class establishment. I was not expecting much, thus I was quite surprised by this 1st class establishment. Big comfortable bed. Immediate hot water in the shower - and great water pressure as well! Super friendly staff and they all spoke better English than most Americans! The Concierge directed me to the best restaurants, all the "must-see" sites - and was able to arrange great theatre tickets. The location? Perfect - right in the city center and within walking distance of everything! If you visit SPB, stay at the Petro Palace!

I am convinced the Petro Palace is the best and most convenient hotel in St. Petersburg. They have an excellent english-speaking staff, a great "in house" restaurant, two bars and a helpful concierge. Best of all is their location, right in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg. Their rates were incredibly reasonable given all the above. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone staying in St. Petersburg.

Absolutely an outstanding venue and in the very best neighborhood - close to L;Hermitage and St. Isaacs and other wonderful attractions. It was New Year's and the celebration at the hotel was wonderful in the SkyBar. . with views of fireworks and historical sites. The service could not have been better. excellent internet service - great breakfast - and charming concierge group as were the various drivers used. I recommend it very highly.

Okay hotel, first time in Russia, so cannot comment on standards, although quite acceptable with lots of room.

I've been staying at this hotel regularly for 3 years. It's minutes walk away from Nevsky Prospekt and the Hermitage. The staff are young, helpful and speak perfect English. There is free wifi on the ground floor and on the 7th floor sky bar. Breakfast buffet is expensive but pretty plentiful. Pool and gym are small, but rarely used by others. Amazing value for money in winter, rather expensive in summer.

The hotel was in a great location, within walking distance of many sights and nice restaurants. Our room was nice and the concierge was very helpful, recommending good restaurants, etc. Make sure you include breakfast in your reservation, as I mistakenly did not, and the buffet cost myself, my husband and daughter a small fortune! Also, the free wi-fi was not in the room, only in the common areas, and the only place I was able to get a connection was in the SkyBar. Luckily, it was located on our floor, but not as convenient as having it in our room. We were disappointed that there was no coffee/tea pot in the room and we were unable to get one. Instead, we had to get a teapot of hot water from the minibar in the lobby whenever we wanted to make a cup of tea. Lastly, our pillows were rather lumpy. Overall, the room and staff were nice, but we found the amenities lacking.

We stayed at this hotel in August 2010 and loved it. Our room was spacious and comfortable but I wouldn't have expected any less of a 4 * hotel. Bathroom was huge with a wet room area, dressing area and underfloor heating. The staff at the hotel were very helpful, knowledgeable about the area and restaurants etc. Breakfast was a buffet with a selection of both hot and cold dishes. We didn't eat in th restaurant but did have bar snacks which were reasonably riced and very tasty. Location wise this hotel is brilliant, just off the main shopping area and literally just five minutes walk to the Hermitage. We would certainly stay here again.

The hotel's location and staff were outstanding. The deluxe room was large and very comfortable with all remodeled bathrooms. I do think they could improve on the ambience (lack of) in their breakfast area and presentation and variety of breakfast items. Also, their entry and hotel bar needs to be upgraded but all in all for the expense it was an excellent experience. Could not have a better location!

Pros: The hotel is within walking distance from most of St Petersburg's attractions, including the Hemitage, the Bronze Horseman, and the Russian Museum. The hotel is wheelchair accessible. The room was very clean. Cons: The management tries to charge you money for almost anything. Breakfast started at $9 per person, Internet access in your room is $6 per hour (free wireless in the lobby), and phone calls are $0.60 per minute to fixed phone lines within St Petersburg, and much more for long distance calls! That's insane, using your cell phone must be cheaper.
