Staff were very good and extremely helpful and conversed brilliantly in English

The hotel self is not up to 4 star standard. Fitting were well worn and Carpet was extensively stained. The Lady in service desk were very helpful. May be it is Europe's standard but there was no beverage and self laundry. Hotel location was very convenience only walking distance to Piazza Principe Station.

The hotel is in central location. This is also bad the traffic noise started about 7am and didn't get a great sleep after that. Also the bed didn't have any mattress cover so could feel some bumps in the mattress. Gym was ok, so was breakfast. Staff was nice and friendly.

2 adults + 2 kids. Family room (or triple). February'12 Great location. Great room (2 floors, kitchenette) BUT: It was TOO COLD! It was really cold in every room of this hotel (we asked another guests). No heating at all in rooms only AC that can't work as heaters. I highly recommend to visit this hotel in summer, but avoid to live there in winter. Especially in winter like was in italy in 2012 :-) Breakfast is standard. From all another points of view it is very good hotel!

It is within walking distance if you our going on a MSC cruise. With three people we had a upstairs and downstair room with a kitchette. Alot of space for the money.

Very comfortable accommodation, we had a large lounge and separate double bedroom and bathroom. Ideally situated at railway station and within walking distance to all amenities and attractions. Inexpensive taxi fares from airport and to port. Extremely helpful staff. We would certainly recommend this hotel. We spent 3 nights at the Standard prior to boarding a cruise.

The Standard Hotel was a great value for our one night stay. The location was very convenient for trains or the cruise port. And all of historic Genoa is a walking distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We also really enjoyed the breakfast buffet which was included. The room was clean and comfortable. I thought the bed looked like it would not be comfortable, but I slept great.

Hotel was billed as 4star and was priced as such. Parking was a 20 euro add-on, Internet was a 10 euro add-on. the room was very small, but ok. However, the bathroom shower was not. The bottom of the shower curtain was nasty & black..yuk.

Good for 1 or day's stay. Hotel staff very helpful with English speaking travelers. Walked from Principe Train Station with baggage to the hotel. Neighborhood reasonable. convenient location

Hotel is very near to train station at Piazza Prinicipe and it is located in hisorical Balbi street. It is close to old city cenrte, old port and Genoa Aquarium. Triple room is actually spacious loft with double bed in upper floor and sofa in lower floor. The hotel is in old building as every others buildings around and I it can't describe it as luxury. Anyway it is quite good for price that we paid and personnel was polite and willing to help.

Literally a two minute walk from the main train station. We were just there for two nights, basically as a springboard to the Cinque Terre, so it was quite convenient for us to be so close to the train. Hotel itself is pretty standard, rooms are quite spacious by european standards and it was clean. Unfortunately the air conditioning was broken when we were there, and they weren't sure when it would be fixed. This obviously made the room quite warm, but the windows all opened wide, so at least there was a breeze at night. Breakfast buffet was very good, lots of choices and featured standard meat, cheese, bread, pastry, yogurt, fruit, cereal type of thing.

Nice room, but way too hot without airconditioner, and too noisy if you open the window. Location is super close to train station and walking distance to center. That was my requirements for that night :)

I think it's called Standard Hotel, cause thats what it is....STANDARD! The good points is that it is right near the train station and the breakfast was quite good and more than substantial. And there was a minibar. I do not care about frills in a room, but this was just downright depressing and odd, and it was bad enough I wasn't enjoying the city, that my room just made it worse. Everything was clean, but the shower curtain was mouldy. The a/c didnt work and I was going to say something, but I heard another guest complain about it and it didnt seem like they got much help and then I realised that it didnt work within the whole hotel and the lobby and restaurant was quite hot also. It was lucky it wasn't too hot and I was able to leave my window open and let the breeze come thru the shutters otherwise it would've been very very stuffy in the room. I wouldn't even recommend this hotel for a night and I wouldn't stay again. But then again, I have no inclination to even visit Genova again.

The hotel building is old and poorly maintained, mostly due to the age of the building, not the administration of the hotel. The air-conditioning was not working, the size of the room was a bit uncomfortable, but the personnel was making a great effort to make our stay more comfortable. Breakfast was great though. The surrounding neighborhood, as for most hotels of the area, was not very safe during the night. It is located within an area full of immigrants and low-income people, although they seem to have no intention to harm anyone. But still, the feeling that you get is not safety. Other than that, the location is very suitable to visit the old town and value for money is not too bad. Parking is a stressful issue though.

The location is good as it is very close to the Genoa Principe Station and the breakfast is not bad, and the staff can speak English. However, at the night we stayed, the hotel has a problem for the air-conditioner so there were no air-conditioner throughout the whole night which is very hot and hard to sleep. We asked the hotel for a fan and they promised to give us during the night but at the end, they provided nothing and they didn't give us other possible solutions!! I wouldn't recommend this hotel to others only if it can improve their service.

This hotel had a great location if you are coming in on train. Easy walk. Neighborhood a little "seedy". Was fine for a night or two.

I would recommend this hotel. the staff were very efficient & very nice. Our room was a 2 level room/suite that had giant windows w/ shutters, just as many of the old Italian buildings, of which I am sure this is one. It was perfect for our needs, a 3 person party. The bartender served us ?appertives? it huge amounts, it was very nice. A walk in the area shows what you went to Italy to see. We had a difficult time finding the hotel, but it was worth it.

Good service, nice breakfast, only downfall was that it looked like it wasn't updated since the 80's but it was clean and well equiped.

Basic but clean, a little pricey for what it offered, but we hit it in the high season, so can't be too surprised. Friendly, English-speaking staff. Very helpful. Parking was full so had to park up the street, but it wasn't a problem and saved me €20! Pretty decent free breakfast.

One rude receptionist at check in and then one helpful one during check out. Advertised internet, but 10euro per hour. Shower has a phone in it but the shower head falls down and difficult to get in it after a sideways move. CNN and other english tv channels listed in directory but did not work in building. Jacuzzi empty of water. Otherwise hotel and room looked good, breakfast was good. Overall, for the money everything listed and advertised should work and internet should always be free in hotels, its 2009.

The Standard Hotel is the same as Soglia Hotel. The best thing is that it is very close to everything-cental ttrain station, bus stop, restaurants, etc.The decor was ok although the dark furnishings might be off putting for some. The room and toilets were extemely clean and the daily room service was excellant. The breakfast was ok. The 4 stars that they claim is only a local rating and is no way an international four star, and mostly a 3star.

pros: centrally located...resonable hotel for the price. has gym sauna etc. decent breakfast. cons: my room had a very small shower clubical. not everyone will fit in it. no english channels on tv.

Vale 2 stelle scarse Manutenzione inesistente Televisione a tubo catodico da 12 pollici, la RAI non si vedeva, in tutto altri 5 canali (e la presentazione sottolineava Pay-per-view satellitare) Presentato come dedicato alle famiglie per la disponibilità di 4 giochi rotti al bar Albergo pieno con oltre 5 piani, un ascensore solo (da 4 posti, l'altro rotto) Sciacqone della camera vicina di fianco al letto, nottata da dimenticare A colazione i posti disponibili sono ampiamente sottodimensionati rispetto alla capienza dell'albergo Prezzo decisamente alto per una simile qualita' PESSIMA ESPERIENZA

La chambre était magnifique, propre, bien agencée et design impeccable. Bonne nuit et petit déjeuner royal (buffet bien fourni). Bon séjour (à refaire sans hésitation)

Agréablement surpris par l'emplacement avec toutes les commodités, chambre double joliment décorée et très spacieuse. Personnel multilingue et très agréable.

Ottimo hotel se prenotato con le offerte. A prezzo pieno è assolutamente da evitare. Non è sicuramente un 4 stelle. Buona la posizione. Scadente la pulizia e la manutenzione. Dispone di camere per fmiglie di 5 persone.

hôtel très bien situé, on peut tout faire à pied. service de qualité; possibilité de garage. super place pour visiter genes... bonnes balades

Das Hotel war nicht 4 Sterne. Höchstens 2 Sterne Hotel. Bezahlt habe ich für zwei Erwachsene und ein Baby. Das Baby bett war nicht vorhanden. Reception verlange zusätlich gebühren für Baby bett. Parkplatz nicht vorhanden. 20 euro am Tag ist einbischen zuviel verlangt von dem Hotel. Für den Preis gibt es bessere Hotels in der Umgebung. Die Fotos auf der hotels.com website entsprechen nicht der Realitet der Zimmer.

Problème de propreté et de niveau de prestations.

l'hotel è vicinissimo alla stazione di piazza principe, quindi molto comodo per chi viaggia in treno. il centro è comunque raggiungibile in 10 minuti a piedi. il prezzo forse è un po' alto, ma giustificato dalla posizione. camera carina, non tanto nuovo il bagno ma comunque pulito. colazione a buffet e caffè/cappuccino dal bar. servizio gentile, portineria aperta tutta notte.

Ciao, siamo stati solo una notte in quest'hotel;lo consiglieri soprattutto per l'ubucazione e per come e collegato con i servizi di trasporto. Prezzo discreto per i servizi ricevuti. La camera era abbastanza comoda ma il riscaldamento era rumoroso, per fortuna che era caldo ed abbiamo potuto spegnerlo, il bagno era un disastro ( dal lavandino non usciva l'acqua fredda,la tazza del wc era instabile..).

Hôtel agréable avec un accueil chaleureux. Des prestations de qualités. Service automobile efficace et peu cher. Hôtel que je recommande à Génes
