Loved the room. Great location. Quiet. Very comfortable. Pool was too cold and kinda small, but the kids enjoyed it. Size of pillows on the bed were too big (too full) and we had some complaints of stiff necks in the morning, but we didnt call the front desk to see if they had different ones.

The room layout is fantastic. The kitchenette in our room had some glasses and plates which was very convenient. The room was very clean and the staff friendly and responsive. The breakfast time gets a little crowded but there is plenty to choose from and all fresh and delicious. The only downfall of this hotel is a very small and cold pool. However, the hot tub is fantastic. I would stay there again if visiting the area.

First time in hotel chain, room was great. Nice having separate rooms and main common area. Staff was very friendly and nice breakfast provided. Location is great to city if you want to run out for bite to eat or need something. Great location if visiting the university. Will definitely stay again!

Figured it would be a same-old typical hotel. Upon entrance, the decor was elegant yet welcoming. The personnel were very pleasant and helpful but not fake. The room was great. Very clean and cozy. Had great amenities. Wished I could have stayed for a week and taken advantage of more the amenities.

the staff was courteous, the rooms clean. I like the layout of them. the spa was broken which is a disappointment, but liveable... overall I'd stay there again.

Small tv's but nice hotel

This hotel was a great place to stay. The rooms had ample space for everything you need. The one bedroom suite had a livng room area adjoining a kitchenette with a large table/desk separating the two. Ample towels were provided in the large bathroom. The forced air heating and A/C unit was much quieter and controlled the room temp much better than the typical under window style unit. The hotel was very quiet and close to everything, especially Iowa State U. An Old Chicago restaurant adjoined the hotel and could be accessed without going outside. I'm regularly a Best Western user, but this hotel was better than almost any BW we've ever stayed at. We'll be back here whenever we're in Ames.

I was in town for an interview at ISU, and decided to "splurge" (for me...) on a nicer hotel. Found this one through hotel.com, and was very pleasantly surprised! Full kitchenette (including DISHWASHER), separate bedroom, TV in both livingroom and bedroom, Chicago Bar restaurant attached to hotel (delivery to room!), laundry on main floor, access to Anytime Fitness (free passes for all guests), pool, and HOT breakfast served 6-10am! That is just off the top of my head. On top of great amenities, the staff was extremely warm and welcoming. AND accommodating--without any issue, they let me check out at noon (usual check-out is 11am), since I was going to be hitting the road after my interview, and was hoping to have a place to change, go to the bathroom, etc. Would highly recommend!!!

Great hotel for the price. Close to campus and lots of restaurants.

Loved the hotel

It was easy to get to the college campus. Staff was very friendly. Manager was wonderful. Returned phone call after my stay of a concerned that I had.i will plan on staying there the next time I return to Ames.

We enjoyed staying here between Christmas and New Years. It was quiet, comfortable and pretty clean. Except for the hot tub -- we turned on the jets and it overflowed with the wrong kind of bubbles. The kind that show it hasnt been cleaned well. otherwise it was a good place to stay with kids.

This hotel is immediately off Hwy 30 on South Duff, with lots of restaurants and retail shopping within half-mile or so of the hotel. Staff is great, hotel is very clean and comfortable.

Uncomfortable hard beds. Breakfast OK on the cold items. Eggs and meat were terrible, but fortunately they had waffles which made the kids happy.

Hotel was clean, the room was spacious and comfortable and the service was great. The continental breakfast was also good with a fair variaty. The only thing I'd complain about was the clenliness of the tiny pool and hot tub. It was over clorinated and very small.

I was told I was getting a 2 queen size bed prior to reserving a room. When we arrive we were told it's 1 queen bed and 1 pull out sofa sleeper. I was not happy after a long car ride. Also the swimming pool was very small and if you have kids who were looking forward to swim, this is not the place. However, the overall hotel condition is good. The one-bedroom suite was nice but small.

This is the second time we stayed here and we were just as happy. The food for breakfast is typical hotel food, not great but ok. The pool is just the right size and depth for kids to play. the rooms are great - love having a full sized fridge and the ability to cook, even though we didn't cook this trip. People are nice. The location is right by the highway exit and close to the major shopping in Ames. Definitely would stay here again - wish there were more Grandstays in other cities we travel to.

Big suites with large kitchen, couch & living area and separate bedroom plus nice big bathroom. I would return for sure.

Very clean & spacious room but the fitness room had no A/C and was very hot and humid and was small. We were told that the A/C broke a few days earlier but wasn't repaired. We were told that we could use the fitness center down the street but what an inconvenience so didn't do that. We had purposely chosen this hotel because it had a fitness room. So we were disappointed. Otherwise the hotel was nice. The continental breakfast was ok but didn't offer that much. It was good for a 1 night stay.

It was nice to stay in a hotel that had the sleeping room separate from the living area. It made it feel more like home and I was able to relax better. When I travel with my children, I will consider using this hotel because it has a stovetop and a refrigerator, so we can cook our own meals and be more healthy and budget conscious about our trip. The room cost was very reasonable for the amenities and extra space.

Customer service could be improved. The staff was never at the front desk and were not very helpful when I had concerns. The rooms needed to be repainted or cleaned. There were scuff marks all over the walls and paint peeling in the bathroom due to moisture. When I checked in there was a used dental floss pick on the lamp table. When I complained I only received an appology and the front desk clerk saying, "I need to get a glove to pick that up." Gross. That should have never happened. The management response was, "we will make sure your room is extra clean tomorrow and the cleaning staff must have been in a hurry." It should have been clean when I checked in and the staff being in a hurry is not a paying customer's problem.
