Aloha Place - Inn of Volcano - فولكانو

I did not actually meet the proprietor. It was very nicely set up- like a bed and breakfast without breakfast. DVD/VHS didn't work in room. comfortable bed.

Good location, place smells very musty. But since this is the only place we have stayed in the Volcano area not sure if it is a common smell for all accommodations. Bamboo room was much smaller than expected. Windows are very old and in a bad need of repairs or replacement. Overall an okay place for a short stay while visiting Volcano National Park.

This was an elegant place to stay. Someone had paid attention to detail in designing these rooms, down to the fresh orchids on the antique dresser. The main lodge was a quaint room filled with treasures from travels overseas and a fireplace with wood cut for building a fire. Charming. I would definitely stay there again.

Decoration of the premises included wonderful artifacts and indicated a lot of thought, guest lounge was cozy with Lots of books and DVDs to borrow. Though, there is a musty smell. Great location to base exploration of the park. Provision of some breakfast buns and fruit would have been nice.

It was our first stay at a Bed and Breakfast. Strange that this B&B didn't serve breakfast. The place was cute, our room was clean, and we even had our own dehumidifier in our room that worked GREAT and helped a lot :) The place had a wood fireplace anyone could use, a large selection of movies in the movie library, and information of what to do in the area. They were even thoughtful and had 2 flashlights in the room to use at If we decided to see the Volcano at night. Not many choices of restaurants in town, but we didn't care as we were there for Volcano National Park (which was less than a 5 minute drive). Over all, it was nice, quiet, clean. We would definitely stay here again :)

What a fun and funny theme! The room was just perfect for our trek to the Volcanos! The real glassware, the fireplace den and little kitchen downstairs made us feel right at home. Thank you Aloha Place! I can't wait to come back!

The house is clean and has character. It is right outside the Volcano National Park. There are 3 restaurants and a small store nearby. Since it was rainy and around 50 degrees F when we were there, it would have been nice to have a space heater; however, there were several blankets on the beds, which made the night warm enough.

Comfortable older house. Although there was not a staff person to greet us there was a phone number if we needed help and it all felt very comfortable and friendly. We would stay there again.

No one available to assist us to settle in. Room very musty and cool. No heater.

We were a little worried after reading some of the reviews, but were pleasantly surprised. As noted in the listing, this isn't really a Bed and Breakfast as no food is provided. There was a coffee maker and a small fridge in the room. There are no chickens on the property, but Volcano is a rural village and the neighborhood has a rooster who started crowing at 4 AM. If you are a light sleeper or don't care for crowing, stay in Hilo where such sounds are less likely. We stayed in the Paniolo Room which was very spacious and clean. The house is charming and was very quiet. It has a large library with a working fireplace and internet access. The gardens were lovely with horses in the rear of the property. We met the owner on our arrival and our interaction was pleasant. It was a little chilly in the morning and some way to warm up the room would have been appreciated. We'd definitely stay here again!

Quaint, small hotel...like a bed & breakfast, but no breakfast. Very convenient and well priced. The Bamboo Room was cute.

disappointed that there was no personal contact so if you had any problems there was noone to ask and no breakfast though it is advertised as a B&B, The house was clean but smelt damp. It was a convenient location for visiting the volcano park

Stayed here two nights to go to the national park, which is right beside this b&b. As other travellers have mentioned in below reviews, you arrive to your key in an envelope with your name on it outside the office. You don't see any staff and your room won't be cleaned. The room smelled very damp and beds were really uncomfortable. Apart from that, this is a good cheap option. Lots of DVDs to watch and tv in room, free wifi. Walk able distance diner and farmers market on weekend. Roosters very loud from 4am!!!

Lovely, clan and comfortable. Charming style. Grateful for the coffe and coffee machine provided in the room. Only complaint would be that we stayed 2 nights and there is apparently no service while staying in the inn, no room cleaning. Otherwise, the inn was lovely and quite the local feel.

It was very nice to be up at volcano, but we never saw any management personnel and the shower was borderline warm and difficult to work. Musty smell,but it's ok if you are used to older accommodations. The sitting room was well decorated and comfy. Noise really travels.

We never saw a hotel employee during our entire two night stay. Kind of eerie. Only saw two guests & we were in the main hotel building.

We stayed in the Sushi Cottage. It was reasonably clean, but we were completely turned off by the musky odor that hit us as soon as we walked in. Possibly because of the lack of heat, the whole place seemed a bit damp, even the bed sheets. I would not stay here again.

Pros: Beautiful setting, very handsome house. Very quiet and peaceful. Nicely decorated. Luckily no roosters. My favorite lodging experience in Hawaii. Cons: Musty smell. Very cold at night (January).

Aloha Place, Volcano, Hawaii was terrific! The only problem: NO HEAT in our room at night & in the morning. Shower was hot, bathroom was great. I will recommend this B & B to all who which to visit Volcano Nat Park, Hawaii, Hawaii.

Nice place!

This is one of the more affordable B&B's in Volcano village, and for a good reason. We were the only guests. We never saw the owners of staff, just had an envelope with our name pinned to the office door with directions and keys. The house itself smelled like it wasn't aired in months. There were slippers and coats by the door for guests who didn't bring their own, which was nice. The room itself was small but comfortable enough for one night. For a longer stay I'd pay a little more and get a nicer place.

This was a quaint lovely facility- Our only problem was the bedding aarrangement. we were "assured" that there was a queen size bed "as well as a queen sofa". I even called YOU to verify this. We were shocked to find a love seat size sofa-and no linens. I had to sleep 3 nights wrapped in a coomforter. Other than that we enjoyed ourselves. Peggy

We found this B&B to be a huge disappointment. They never returned our phone calls (which happened to be the same number as their "emergency contact"), there was no assistance at check-in, there appeared to be no access to the owner, a host of house rules which we were not notified of until after check-in, and a rooster that woke us up at 4am. Yes, it's close to Volcano and you can have your own bathroom, but we would never recommend this place to anyone.

Nous avons logé dans une des chambre a l'etage (le rez de chaussée etant occupé par une salle a manger et une bibliotheque decorées chaleureusement). La chambre en elle meme etait confortable et joliment decorée, assez fraiche (volcano oblige) mais bien pourvu en couette, donc aucun soucis(du moins en septembre). Nous n'avons pas vu la tenanciere, un mot nous attendait sur la porte (pour nous, ce n'etait pas un souci).Dans la bibliotheque il y a une cheminée avec tout le necessaire pour faire un feu de bois (ce que je ne me suis pas privé de faire ... ps: la cheminée necessiterait peut etre un peu de ramonage ;-) ). Bref un tres bon sejour de 2 nuits, d'autant plus que nous etions les seuls a occuper toute la maison durant ces 2 nuits !!!! Par contre, je prefere prevenir, volcano c'est assez mort le soir, pas de supermarché, au mieux un epicier, et 2 restos (dont un tres bon thai)

Wir haben die Eigentuemer des Ferienhauses gar nicht kennengelernt, weder beim einchecken, noch beim auschecken. Wir fanden einfach einen Briefumschlag mit Schluessel am Buero des Ferienhauses und waren uns voellig selbst ueberlassen. Das Haus ist Geschmackssache. Modern ist etwas anderes. Die Moebel sind okay, das Bett war auch okay. Im Bad ist uns direkt die Klinke abgefallen und auch die Fenster sind super undicht. Typisch amerikanisch eben. Im Bad an den Waenden befindet sich etlicher Schimmel, was nicht sehr verwunderlich bei den Moeglichkeiten der Lueftung ist. Das Haus ist alt und aus Holz. Den Uebernachtungspreis fanden wir anhand der vorhandenen Gegebenheiten voellig ueberteuert. Die Unterkunft befindet sich lediglich eine Meile vom National Volcano Park entfernt und ist verkehrstechnisch sehr gut gelegen. Buchen wuerden wir diese Unterkunft allerdings trotzdem nicht mehr.

Super. Il ne manque plus que le petit dej et un contact avec les propriétaires et on se croirait en B&B!

als ich im hotel angekommen bin, war niemand dort. zum glück hab ich nach einiger zeit einen umschlag entdeckt, in dem mein schlüssel drin war. zum schlafen musste ich eine jacke anziehen, da es sehr kalt ist und bis ich rausgefunden habe, wie die dusche funktioniert hat es auch einige minuten gedauert.

L'accueil à l'hôtel était déplorable. Juste un bonjour et réception des clefs. De plus la propreté de la chambre laissée à désirer: moisissure sur les tasses, verres, fenetre.... Gros problemes d'humidité dans la chambre et la salle de bain (draps, papier toilette...). Les fenetres étaient rouillée, pleine de poussiere et d'insectes! Nous avons croisé les propriétaires à plusieurs reprises sans aucune salutations de leurs parts. Un sentiment de gène se fait sentir ce qui, par la suite ,nous a contraint à écourter notre séjour. Nous sommes très déçus que vous puissez avoir dans vos contacts un hôtel comme celui ci.

Es war sehr kalt im hotelzimmer, da es im vulkangebirge eher kalt ist, haben wir gefroren. Ich finde sowas sollte stehen, dass warme kleider mitgebracht werden müssen zum schlafen. Zum glück hatten wir eine fliesjacke dabei!

No tuvimos contacto con los dueños de la casa pero estaba todo preparado a nuestra llegada. Casa muy bonita, decoración muy agradable y auténtica. Habitación bamboo: camas cómodas y baño limpio. Conclusión: una estancia muy agradable y tranquila en un sitio muy auténtico y muy cerca del parque nacional que recomendaría sin ninguna duda.

The hotel was in general quite ok, we had the "sushi cottage" which had everything we needed it and the owner was very friendly when we arrived and gave us some fresh eggs. The location is quite good if you want to visit the volcano national park although the few shops there are very expensive. It was not particularly clean and there was no house keeping. But I WOULD NOT recommend the hotel because of the docens of chickens that are in the garden, just outside the cottage. The roosters are EXTREMLY NOISY the whole night. When I say the whole night, I mean it. They start at 11pm, maybe at 2.00 am and they continue till next morning, without stop. Impossibe to sleep the three nights we were there!!! Even with ear-plugs!!! We spoke with the owner and she told us that it was because it was "almost" full moon... and she would move two of them to a cage behind the garden. If she did it, it didn´t help at all. She knows about the problem but doesn´t seem to do anything to solve it... If you go to Hawaii on holiday the minimum you can expect is a quiet night to rest and be able to enjoy your time there.
