This is a beautiful hotel in a neighborhood of shopping and restaurants. It is very near the ferry to Capri. It seemed overpriced, but I think that may have been because we stayed on New Year's Eve, when they had a very lavish dinner and celebration. We could see fireworks from Napoli around the Bay of Naples to the Amalfi coast. Beautiful!

This was our 3rd trip to Sorrento and this hotel. The desk staff and dining room manager have not changed. They are always first rate and it's nice to be remembered. Always get the ocean view because the motorcycle noises from the street side never stop. The view of the Bay of Naples and Mt. Vesuvius can't be beat anywhere in Sorrento.

Hotel Tramontano is a lovely old and well established hotel in Sorrento. The location is perfect. Breath taking water views, gardens, and everything within walking distance to the main center of town. Staff was very accommodating. My only disappointment in our room was the need for a fresh paint job, extra dusting in the corners, and perhaps new light fixtures; the brass fixtures looked worn, possibly due to humidity from ocean breeze when balcony doors are open. All in all it was a very comfortable stay.

This hotel had superb views. It was very nice but the pillows were very hard (however we solved that problem by bringing our own. As another reviewer pointed out, our room had mold in the ceiling in the bathroom. However the room was generally clean and you just could not beat the view; although we paid extra for a view of the Naples Bay. The location was a little hard to find but there are signs if you look carefully. It is very close to everything. Be sure to eat at La Attica, which is not in any of the guide books. It is about $50 per person with wine; but the lamb was fabulous as was the sea bass.

We made a simple mistake of riding a bus from the boat dock up the hill to the hotel. You can walk about 4 blocks over and ride the hotel's elevator up to the top. We were silly not to realize that. This hotel had everything. Pay the extra and get the view. It's so beautiful. The pool is great. It's mildly heated which made it comfortable. It was a great location. We loved the restaurant, the bar was awesome. We watched the sun set there. We had dinner and the staff treated us like royalty. The breakfast is very fresh and very good variety. We loved our stay and can't wait to take our family there soon to share it with them! ENJOY!

very nice and clean, great location, the staff was very nice and friendly. we stayed at the hotel 4 night and it was great!!

The hotel location is excellent...everything else is 'okay'. Basically you are paying for location. Pool area is nice. Terrace by bar is beautiful. Service was mediocre. I think it was pricey for what you get but so are the other hotels in the area. WE only stayed one day so was happy with location.

Very nice staff, polite. great location with private access to beach, free parking and let you park the car for longer even after check out.

Unfortunately we only had one night in Sorrento but the stay was great. The staff at the hotel could not have been more friendly. The location was great. My only suggestion was that they do not supply conditioner for hair, but that is such a little thing! Overall the stay was most pleasant!

I really liked this hotel for many reasons—first the location was perfect. We only had to walk around the corner and we were in the heart of historical Sorrento. It could not have been any better. The guest rooms were large as well as having large bathrooms. The beds were comfortable by Italian standards. We opted to upgrade to a sea view and although it had a Juliette balcony rather than a full balcony we still enjoyed it fully. The staff at the front desk was always nice and very helpful, especially the young woman who always smiled and made us feel welcome. Also there was free breakfast and free parking included. There were a few things though that I must mention that are negatives—the guest rooms have hardwood floors that are beautiful however we could hear the people walking on the floor above us. Every time they walked across the floor or moved a chair—well, it sounded very loud in our room. Also, we could hear the people in the room next to us cough and sneeze, etc. We felt as though we had to whisper. The shower in the bathrooms were very inconvenient, they are shaped like tubes and very hard to shower in, my husband is 6'3” and had a horrible time. And the lighting in the bathroom was very dim, which made putting makeup on impossible. Internet at this hotel is not free, it is 5 euro per hour and is available only in the lobby, which for me is unacceptable as I work from my laptop. And lastly, there is no coffee maker in the room. A very big negative for me, I like to have coffee when I first wake up and do not want room service for an exorbitant amount of money. All in all I would stay again even with a few negative draw backs. It is classic, old world and lovely.

This Hotel is a great place to stay on a budget. It wasen't the best in Sorrento, but it fit our needs. You will not regret it. If you expect luxury, stay somewhere else. However it was the next best thing..

quality hotel, quality location, very satisfied with our stay and the hotel. excellent location, comfortable surroundings, great room, and a lovely pool with a very relaxed atmosphere, contrasting with the bustle of the "old town" of sorrento. would recommend the hotel to anyone.

Excellent Hotel, Large and very comfortable suite, Beautiful view from the room and dining room. Short walk to the center of Sorrento. Very helpful staff. A little expensive, but in light of the location and quality, we would stay there again.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. We had corresponded with Luigi prior to our stay. After we arrived Luigi made it a point to meet us, as well as all of our needs. The staff is very welcoming and accomodating. The view is like no other. For fun we looked at other hotels and were convinced that we had made the right decision. We strongly recommend this hotel for an unforgettable stay in Sorrento.

An older hotel, but somehow noble. Great view from the restaurant where somewhat intercontinental breakfast is served. We could hear from the neighbour room that they wished goodnight!! The walls should have been thicker.. They changed towels twice the day. Very nice staff, but they were not informed about the shuttlebus that drives to Napoli. I recommend Ristorante Taverna dell `800 in Via dell `Accademica for great meal that is somewhat 20 euro cheaper than other restaurants. And for a great evening out the ristorante Terrazza delle Sirene, Foreigner`s Club in Via L. de Maio is a must - great view, meals and live music. The hotel had the best surrounding and two minutes away from everything!

Sehr gutes Hotel - Sehr zentrale und dennoch ruhige Lage - sehr schöne Umgebung - sehr freundlicher Service an der Rezeption / des Concierge - Frühstücksangebot entspricht nicht ganz dem übrigen Niveau des Hotels, ebenso die Freundlichkeit des Frühstückspersonals - WLAN Nutzung sollte bei diesem Preisniveau inbegriffen sein.
