Raffles Beijing Hotel - بكين

We had one week available for a tourist visit to Beijing with the purpose to see and learn as much as possible about Chinese culture and architecture. From this hotel we could easily walk and explore The Tian'anmen Square, The Forbidden City and the Old City Hutongs. During two days of the week we had an excellent guide with taxi driver, arranged by the hotel concierge, to go to the Summer Palace and the Great Wall and additional sites on our way out to those places. The concierge also help us to get a taxi and tickets to an acrobatic show one night. All in all we felt very well taken care of by the people in the reception and the lobby. The hotel buffe breakfast had all you could wish for and was certainly worth the money. The room was very spacious, comfortable and clean. Next time we will book this hotel again.

The place was very nice, staff are always attending to your needs. Walking distance from wafungjing shopping street and TianaNmen Square, Forbidden City. There is also a subway close to the hotel so during our stay here last feb 12 to feb 17 2012 we did enjoy staying here will surely be back again here.

We knew our flights will arrive past midnight, so we booked the stay a day earlier, so we could sleep in comfort and not wait till the next day's check in. When we checked in, they told us they were expecting us yesterday! The night staff who spoke good English had a sense of humour too. We got our room rather quickly and we were very satisfied with our room. The hotel room had fast wifi too. That's when we turned on google maps on our iPhone/iPad to get orientated. Hotel is 1 subway station away from Tiananmen Sq and Forbidden City. As Raffles Beijing is connected to Beijing Hotel, you can walk internally and get out Beijing Hotel's main door. The subway entrance is in front of Beijing Hotel. We walked from the hotel to Forbidden City because we wanted to see the surroundings. On the other direction is a shopping mall (Oriental Plaza) that sells high end stuff and also some familiar brands we know in Singapore. (Eg Bread Talk, Food Republic - did not know they were there!) Wangfujing Snack Street is opposite the mall, behind Beijing Hotel. We tried some of the snacks there. Did not dare try the Star Fish though. Walking along Wangfujing, if you are a foodie, there's a branch of the famous Quanjude Peking Duck restaurant. Also if you are a fan of dumplings, the Tianjin Goubuli has a branch there too. For those who like Daniel Boulud's food, Maison Boulud is around the area too. It's around 2km away only. (That distance is like one end of Orchard Road, Singapore to the other end or one end of Oxford Street, London to the other end) Check out time is 12 noon, they would only extend the check out time for 1 hour, though the first day we arrived late. Since it's only an hour extension, we checked out earlier, so we could visit more of Beijing instead. We left our luggage with the concierge. We came back in the evening to collect our luggage and off we go to the airport for our midnight flight. (Nope, they don't provide a freshen up room like MO in HK when you a

I have stayed here many times before but this time was met witrh unresponsive manager . I asked to speak to manager regarding hotel services was told by front desk that he would call me . Next 4 days heard nothing . Got the feeling that making reservation thru Hotels.com was not appreciated by the hotel . They clearly cater to the high paying guest . Quite dissapointed . One day turn down service not done . Breakfast VERY expensive if not included in room . Is a shame as is a beautiful hotel that i had looked forward to staying there again . They acted like they had never seen me before and I have been staying there last 4 years . Upon contacting hotel after getting a survey i did the survey honestly . We exchanged emails and they did not care about my problems , said they will miss me and understand why i will not be coming back to their hotel . I was shocked by the lack of care to a regular guest at a 5 star hotel .

The bedroom was seriously over heated and no individual control - either heat was on or off; not fun in mid winter! Some staff were great, others were dreadful. The lasting impression was of a badly run hotel but the final straw was seriously rude staff at check out who could not get my bill right and tried to overcharge! I will NEVER again stay in Raffles Beijing.

The only negative experience throughout the 9 days stay was once the hot water for bathroom stopped without notice for a couple of hours. And when it came back on, yellow waters flowed through the taps for next 5 min. We see this as unacceptable by Raffles' brandname!Other than this, there's nothing else one can fault really.

This hotel is simply amazing. From the time we harrived there, we received a very warm welcome from the staff. Check in and check out process couldn't be easier. They did everything profesionally. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Everything was well maintaned. The location is superb, right in the heart of Beijing. Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City are in walking distance. Also the famous Wangfujing Road and subway station are nearly beside the hotel. They even helped us with some informations for our next trip. We felt that we're really in good hands.

Friendly and helpful staff

We liked it very much. Everyone speak very good English in this hotel including the bell boys. And the front desk welcome us on the first day, show us around. Every room has nice hard wood floor which I never seen at any other hotel. It feels so good, and the AC is great. Definitely recommend to everyone.

This is the second time I have stayed at the Raffles Hotel in Beijing. The hotel is lovely and the spot is ideal, convenient for business but also close enough for a walk to any of a number places of interest. Staff are very helpful. The one challenge is finding the hotel from the airport - would strongly advise having a map/directions written in Chinese if you can't speak Mandarin.

The greeting was warm and cheerful. We were invited to sit while the records were checked and we were registered. We were delighted that the hotel discovered a birthday and delivered a lovely cake to our room for the occasion. The Raffles Beijing is truly outstanding. I hope to stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay in Raffles Beijing. We stayed there for the last two nights of 2010. The temp dropped and we decided to spend more time in our cozy room. The room and service was excellence. We ordered room service for both nights, the chef took extra time to prepared a Vegetarian minestrone soup for us which was not in the menu. Greeted with a 4 piece dessert when we return to our room on New Year’s Eve. Bed and pillow is soft. Good location just next to wangfujin, we popped in and out to offload our shopping items and break for tea at the executive lounge which was included in the package. We stayed with promotion rates from Hotel.com, definitely worth the money. All staff speak good English even waiters.

Impeccable service.

Exceptional service, best location for historic Beijing, lovely room....the perfect touring base. Lots within walking distance, also very close to subways. Taxis are always easy to use in Beijing...just have the destination written in Chinese which Raffles also makes sure you have. Raffles was also very welcoming and accommodating to my son and friends studying in Beijing even though they were not guests at the hotel. Staff is very friendly, personable, and knowledgeable. Outstanding hotel. Meals little on expensive, but excellent quality. Close to Forbidden City. Large very comfortable rooms. Excellent Service.

Highly recommended hotel in all aspects - the history of the hotel is very special so the hotel distinguishes from other 5-stars hotel. Rooms very comfortable and big and the writers bar has a very nice athmosphere

When you enter you are greeted with a cup of tea while sitting in the lobby. John, the greeter in chief, sits down with you for a little chitchat about your plans for the few days you are there. The whole staff is very polite, helpful and well meaning. The concierge desk is extremely efficient. The accommodations exceeded our size expectations. We actually had a living room and a full bedroom. The only criticism I have is that the robes and towels were threadbare. The breakfast--full buffet style had everything you could want and was delicious. The location is excellent--easy walking distance to all the major sites and shopping.

The staff were incredibly helpful and the service was 5*. The breakfast was delicious.

Vi bokade till ett bra kampanjpris under lågsäsång annars är det för dyrt för mig. Allt är grymt bra! Perfekt läge med tunnelbana utanför och 10 minuters gångväg till Himmelska fridens torg och förbjudna staden.

王府井中心位置，前往很多地方都很方便，與地鐵站只2分鐘路程，十分方便，不過可能是北京的士不足，故附近很難找的士。因此地鐵便是我經常使用的交通工具。 順帶一提，酒店有濃厚的歷史背景，但設施及裝修華麗，而且房間寛濶近50M，另我住得很舒適。

Alt ved dette hotellet fortjener høyeste karakter; velkomsten ved innsjekking, fantastisk romslige og komfortable rom, vennlige og hjelpsomme ansatte, en svært forekommende hotellambassadør - John fra Australia som ga oss gode råd for sight-seeing og shopping, utrolig bra og variert frokostmeny, en generøs "happy hour" inkludert i romprisen, tradisjonell kinesisk musikk i lobbybaren, og mye mer..... Rett og slett det beste storbyhotellet jeg noen gang har hatt gleden av å bo på!

Mycket bra dock var vårt rum iskallt. Fick inte upp värmen varför vi var tvungna att begära ett extra element.

Ett av de bästa absolut bästa hotellen jag bott på. Servicen är i toppklass med uppmärksam och vänlig personal. Frukosten, ingår vid Executivebokning, det värsta jag sett i utbud och kvalitet. Suveränt läge nära t-banan, shopping och Förbjudna staden/Himmelska Fridens. Rekommenderas varmt.

Nossa estadia foi muito boa, sendo que os atendentes sao muito cordiais, em especial um gerente, americano, chamado Ian, realmente muito educado e atencioso. O hotel é muito luxuoso e bem localizado, ao lado da cidade proibida. Super recomendado!

すばらしい滞在でした。 出来れば、もっと連泊したかったです。 まず、スタッフの英語は完璧です。 意思の疎通が楽に出来ました。 朝食もおいしかったですし、ミネラルウォーターなどもヨーロッパのものがあり、うれしかったです。 場所も移動が楽ですし、エグゼクティブルームはPC環境も抜群でした。 また訪れたいと思います。

Great great Hotel. Very good welcome and services. I really really recommand this hotel. Only weak point, the location with the problem to get a Taxi (due to the new rules of Taxi circulation on the front street). And also the Beijing Taxi don't know this hotel , (ask the concierge to wirte the hotel close to Raffles Hotel and it is ok.

The Raffle Beijin Hotel is a classical hotel with an excellent standard. The room was very well equipped, and the staff provided a friendly and individualized service. Breakfast is very good and prices are reasonable. We will surely return.

우아한 외관과 고풍스러운 실내장식등 하드웨어 대단히 만족스럽다 하지만 1층 프랑스 레스토랑은 메뉴에 나와있는데 준비가 안되는 메뉴나 와인이 많았고, 호텔직원들이 중국인 특유의 자만심이랄까 써비스에 있어서 최선을 다하려는 태도는 결여(이는 중국 어느 호텔이나 마찬가지 이기는 하지만) 예를 들어 엘레베이터 이용시 손님 우선이라든가 이러한 교욱이 데체로 덜데있음

Had the Raffles already existed in the 14th century, the Forbidden City would never have been built. The emperor would have chosen the Raffles instead. This is one of the truly great hotels of this world. You recognize them not by the way they pamper you (they do it in a very classy manner) but by the state of the building including decoration. You won't find a single spot which looks neglected or appliances which are not working properly. Compared to the other hotels it is expensive but worth every Yuan.
