Our family stayed at the Volcano lodge for several days this past week. We found the view of the mountain the crystal clear and refreshing pool and the gardens to be beautiful. The room was well appointed, simple, yet very clean. The air conditioner was a little slow to cool and the shower head had a terrible flow problem. We were delighted at the fun towel animals the housekeepers surprised us with daily. The restaurant was our biggest complaint. The food was very average to poor and the service was not a whole lot better. The front desk service and availability for internet were excellent. Overall, we very much recommend this hotel, especially if you are there to enjoy the mountain and all of the surrounding adventures. We would definitely return to the volcano lodge if/when we have a chance.

Plus: beautiful gardens, awesome view wonderful hottub/jacuzzi with happy hour free breakfast buffet with pretty good food Minus: thin walls (take earplugs) super hard beds and uncomfortable pillows Staff at front desk was okay. Our shuttle was late and had called to alert us, but the girl at the desk never bothered to get up out of her seat to find us sitting right outside! Restaurant staff was okay. Grounds people and support staff were very friendly.

Great views. Lovely garden. Staff very nice tho just doesn't seem to be enough of them. Restaurant overrun- not enough people to serve but otherwise was fine. Overall was not bad but of you want all your pillows to be there the next day you may have to call to request them- as you will for the coffee if you actiallly use it! Not a bad experience.

This was one of the best places we have stayed in. The gardens were beautiful and very well kept. The view from our room was amazing. The pool and resturant was very nice. We would stay there again. A great place to get away from everything and relax. A great value for the money.

We happened to be here on 2 mostly sunny days so everything looked like the website photos. Good place for base to see local sites. Buffet breakfast was included and the coffee was the best we've had in CR.

Loved the garden grounds, beautiful pool area, nice clean rooms, sitting area in the back of each unit, very generous and filling breakfast buffet, and nice dinner buffet at a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Very friendly front desk personnel too.

Toilet was running water all night and overall rooms were very basic for the price they charge, grounds, pool area and breakfast was good.

Rooms are not Hilton Inn but very clean and so relaxing and very "Costa Rican". Staff very pleasant and helpful. Gardens are outstanding-actually got best flower pictures in this garden in all of Costa Rica.

This hotel provides excellent views of Arenal Volcano. It is very easy to find with a huge sign out front - can't miss it even with the vague description '7 km from La Fortuna' - just start driving towards Arenal. Breakfast is very nice - includes standard cereals, breads, lots of tropical fruits (papayas, pineapples, etc). Also plantains, potatoes, some meat (sausages usually), etc. Nice pool area and sauna. Spa available (not used). Right adjacent to the pool is a kids' play structure with swings and slides - a nice touch to relax. Our room had a nice porch outside. Complex is large with many small ~3-4 room buildings, but nice showers and adequate power outlets for all toys. The porch is a nice place to listen / watch birds and the rains even when they occur. Overall a reasonably priced nice option in La Fortuna.

We enjoyed our stay - gardens were lovely, food was good, service was helpful, and suggestions for tours were useful. We would appreciate more comfortable chairs in the bedroom and a choice of king or double beds.

Overall, we were very pleased that we chose the Volcano Lodge. The grounds were lovely (though quite spread out), our room was comfortable and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner at the restaurant, all of which were quite good. Only cons are location (a $10 taxi ride to town, $17 to Tabacon), and at times it seemed as if there was some kind of open space between our room and the next-fortunately, our neighbors were fairly quiet. We had a great time in Arenal and I would highly recommend the Volcano Lodge as a good value for the price if you don't mind the tariff to get anywhere.

Great facility, beautiful grounds, great staff. Greatly exceeded our expectations.

I've stayed at 3 different hotels in the same price range in La Fortuna and I this was my favorite one. Keep up the good work. Food wass decent, nothing great though.

after staying in hotel el silencio, we stayed one night at Volcano Lodge and we really enjoyed it. Nice view, beautiful plantations and flora, nice pool and jacuzzi and finally we have enjoyed an open buffet dinner with a reasonable price. they even prepared to go breakfast fro us because we checked out very early in the morning.

We originally hoped for a different place but where more then happy to stay at this hotel. The people the gardens the location was just great. The rooms to pick are 309,310,311, 312 which have a direct view of the Volcano. The evening buffet was outstanding.

Yes, the rooms are large and clean with a tv, and they serve a good breakfast buffet, but that's about where most of the perks end. While it's well maintained, I just couldn't help but feel that the rooms were so dated. And the bugs. Yes, it's tropical, but we were fending off bugs in our room all night, and it didn't help that the door that leads to your back porch (which isn't private by the way) doesn't close unless it's locked. So if you want to enjoy your back porch, your door remains open letting even more bugs in. Service at check in was fair. Even though we had our own car, they insisted that we wait for a bell hop to show us to our room and how to use things in there. We had to wait 20 minutes for a bell hop, which was completely unnecessary since we didn't want or need one to begin with. Location is a bit remote from La Fortuna, so might be problematic if you don't have a car or don't want to hire a taxi all the time. Wifi never worked. At the front desk or the restaurant. You can tap into the restaurants Wifi, but otherwise the hotels' never worked. Basically, would rate higher if the hotel was half the price. The quality for what we paid was definitely not worth it.

2 Negatives about this hotel: 1) Maids clean the rooms with the door staying wide open. Outcome: we were killing mosquitos the size of Texas for our 4 day stay. Solution: Maid was not allowed to come in while we were staying at hotel. 2) Could use a small fridge in the room Positives: Good restaurant, quality & service Beautiful grounds, many bird species populating the gardens Nice staff Centrally located to Volcano, Hanging Bridges, Zip Line, etc...

Great surroundings, awesome garden, delicious food, nice all around. No issues whatsoever, the entire staff just want to ensure you have a good time. Very helpful about attractions in the area (with or witHout guides)

We enjoyed it a lot: very clean, great view and tasty breakfast. Reccomended!!!

It is a very relaxing place with beautiful tropical plants and garden surrounding the lodges. Each room has its own outdoor sitting area facing the volcano. You could easily see a humming bird flying around the flowers everywhere in the lodge. But what surprises us the most is its restaurant-Sura. It has a fanstatic kitchen; food are creative and delicious yet at reasonable price. We ate there three meals a day for three days and the restaurant never failed to surprise us. Highly recommend this place, as we enjoyed our stay in a great deal.

My husband and I stayed at the Volcano Lodge for 1 night after spending 2 nights at El Silencio del Campo. The room was clean and comfortable and had a little porch with 2 chairs and a table with an amazing, direct view of the volcano. It was the best volcano view that we experienced on our trip. The view was of the black side of the volcano where lava has spilled. The walls of the hotel are a little thin as we could hear our neighbors. Breakfast is included in the room rate and was simple but tasty. Staff is friendly. There is very little lighting where the jacuzzi is, which we loved because all we saw while sitting in the jacuzzi was darkness and a star-filled sky. Living in a city surrounded by high-rise buildings, we really enjoyed and appreciated that. We prefer El Silencio del Campo b/c we like that the rooms are set up as private casitas, but we were happy with our stay at Volcano Lodge since it gave us a better view of the volcano and it was a great value. We definitely recommend it to others.

The positives: great location (only a couple kilometers from the various thermal springs, and maybe 10 km from Arenal National Park), good view of volcano (when it's not shrouded by clouds and fog), superb all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet at no extra charge, decent pool and jacuzzi, free wifi in the pool/restaurant area (and a couple computers available at reception for general use if you don't have your own), beautiful grounds, nice bungalow-style detached rooms, good service. The negatives: thin walls, (though you generally only have one or two neighboring rooms), rooms are pretty small, our safe stopped working at one point (needed new batteries?) and we had to call for help. On the plus side, they helped us almost immediately. In my opinion, this hotel was a great value for the price. I'd stay there again.

Great hotel with great view of the Volcano. Price was very decent and the buffet breakfast was fantastic. Staff couldn't be any friendlier and helpful. I loved this place so much we've decided to extend the stay one more night. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

we stayed 2 nights and enjoyed our stay: the staff was very helpful there is a wifi in the bar and the lobby plus 2 computers for guests the volcano view is fantastic the breakfast was very good and copious: real american breafast with local fruits and smoothies the location is perfect for hiking around the volcano the garden and pool bar are beautiful and very well maintained. We definitely enjoyed our stay and will recommend this hotel

It was everything you expect from a Resort. The only bad thing was that you need to go to the Lobby or the Restaurant to have Wi-fi. For a top-end resort of this kind, I would like to have wi-fi in rooms. The rest was ok. I recommend you to rent a car with adobe rent a car, or you'll spend a lot of money in taxis (as the hotel is 5km from town)

Our room was pretty big with a king size bed and a new and clean bathroom. We had a huge window facing the volcano with a terrace. The service at the hotel is very good. The only but that I found is that the restaurant where you have breakfast is open and it is not comfortable because of the insects. Appart of that, I would recommend the hotel.

This hotel is very nice, beautiful and we really enjoyed our time there. Don't expect the 4 Seasons, but it's great. Great view of the volcano (if you are lucky and the weather is nice), close to La Fortuna (shops, restaurants), hot springs, ziplining and lots of other tour options. Breakfast buffet is included, and we ate the other meals offsite to get a taste of the local food. Highly recommend this hotel. Nothing in CR has "an address," so follow the directions (it's exactly 7 km W from La Fortuna). Be aware there are 2 cities called La Fortuna. It's the one closest to the Arenal Volcano.

This hotel was a good surprise. The gardens the breakfast was beyond expectations. The service was lousy, it took them 3 hours and 3 phon calls to get extra towels and explanation on safe operation. Other then that it was a very good value for the money.

The hotel surpassed anything I had ever imagined! For the price and quality, it is unbeatable! Such a convenient location right outside La Fortuna town which made it quiet and remote. AMAZING views of the Volcano. The hotel grounds, rooms, and restaurant were all wonderful. Definitely recommended for all. This hotel made our honeymoon!

just a very very nice place with spectacular scenery at a very very competitive rate. Later in week we stayed at all inclusive and we feel the volcano was nicer/better at 1/3 nightly price. Lots of things to do nearby and town very nice for adjacent activity.

This hotel is a great find. From Fabian who checked us in and gave us great advice and assistance, to Johan at the bar that shared local stories and served us great drinks and Costa Rican food, the hotel staff was beyond professional. The location is outstanding, and the view of the volcano was incredible, but it was the service and friendliness that will ensure a return visit to this hotel.

The large grounds offer an abundance of trails through the gardens to stroll through. The restaurant is well appointed and offers an ample variety. The rooms are large and very clean. I prefer to explore the local area and appreciated having my own car. Taxis are readily available as well. WiFi was available at the pool and main lobby. Some in our group thought it was marginal others thought it worked well. Breakfast was typical for a buffet in this country (eggs, beans and rice, sausage, etc.) The unexpected surprise was the pancakes. Waitstaff was unenthusiastic. Room views don't matter much since the volcano is shrouded in clouds. When they did break (mornings usually) the pool was the best spot for photos.

This hotel was everything I dreamed of and more. The staff was great and friendly. The rooms were comfy and clean and had the most amazing view of the arenal volcano. The restaurant on property was probably the best food I ve had, the complimentary buffet breakfast in the morning was also very good. The tours they have recommend are worth the price you pay, the ATV tours on the private farms was very fun as we'll as the volcano hike which I highly recommend . Adrian the bartender makes the most amazing drinks and also super friendly. There's nothing bad to say @ all about this place,it was the best vacay I ve taken and I have to thank Volcano Lodge for this.

Good service, great restaurant and beautiful location. We had a wonderful view of the volcano out our back door and the grounds are nicely landscaped. Best hotel in the area for your money.

Rainy season in paradise.....still beautiful, even without volcano erupting. Grounds are beautiful, but it is 7 km out of Fortuna, so getting to town is more than a walk. But with a car, its about a 5 minute drive. pools are wonderful, clean and inviting. Food in Sura restaurant was tasty and service was good, as long a a soccer game was not on....

Very nice property! The rooms were nicely decorated and up to date. Service was wonderful, especially our waiter Eric. Spa services were priced reasonably and there were good specials. The buildings were a little far apart, so getting around wasn't super easy, so having a few more golf carts shuttling would have been nice (but it was slow season, so I can't blame them for fewer staff). I'm just upset the volcano wasn't erupting because our room would have had the perfect view!
