Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa - مسقط

Only 15-20 mins. drive from central Muscat, this hotel resort knocked our feets away as we enjoyed it's beautiful architecture respectfully framed within the context of wonderful natural surroundings, i.e. Oman's Gulf, mountain ranges and rugged sea coastline.

It was luxurious in every way. The wait staff was amazing, as were the grounds. Breakfast buffet one of the best I've ever had anywhere in the world. Can't wait to return.

Great place to relax and disconnect from the outside world. The hotel is remote with no neighbor but you can get to Muscat in 20 minutes with a taxi or shuttle. We also took two boat trips to go snorkeling and dolphin watching it was great. Just a small annoyance, nowhere during the reservation process a "Voucher" is mentioned, but once at the hotel they requested a printed voucher proving that we had a paid reservation.

The hotel lobby and furnitures in the rooms need uplifiting and change. I styed in room 3433 and the chair had stains and carpets needed shampooing. You don't expect that in such hotel. The staff were very nice and helpfull and service was very good at all establishments.

Great resort, good rooms and facilities, we liked the large pool and the service of staff was great. A little out of town but taxis are cheap so no real problem. Oman is a lovely place and Muscat a nice city for a short break. Would like to see the rest of the country at some other time. Airport needs an upgrade but they are building a new one.

The staff is helpful, friendly, and made my time there so special. The quality of the staff makes this hotel.

Perfect ambiance, elegant, not too showy like other GCC hotels, such as the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. Comfortable, divine service, amazing perks if staying at Al Husn, the 7 star property, which includes cocktail hour, gorgeous beyond words private beach, delicious breakfast and tea hour. Staff is stellar, only downside, it is far from anything else, but as the resort has everything you could possibly need, if you want to rest, relax, be pampered, this is the best hotel I have ever stayed at from all my travels around the world.

This hotel is about a 45-50 minutes taxi ride from the Muscat international airport, on the other side of Muscat. This is a very good hotel, in fact a complex of three hotels in the same seaside bay: Al Waha - family-oriented, Al Bandar - business oriented and a 3rd one, very upscale, I forgot the name of, but it costs at least twice as much as Al Waha. However, even Al Waha, where I stayed, is an excellent 5 star hotel. The hotel area is posh, nice swimming pools, landscaping , palms etc. whereas the surroundings outside the hotel complex are plain moon landscape rocks only. Not a cheap place, but worth the money. Good restaurants on site as well. Located a bit outside of Muscat and there is nothing else near - excpet the Oman Diving Center next door - so you'd better stay on site, or go for a diving tour with the Center, have a rest and enjoy the wonderful service (and the good weather!).

fed up with Dubai and their flashing everything we have decided to take a bath of nature and silence and flew to Oman (just 40mn flight). Great country, beautiful people and the Shangrila made really the difference. Outstanding service, great food, amazing surounding area, small but nice beach and in our wing couples only ! real heaven. Highly recommended destination and hotel

Beautiful location, fantastic service if expensive. There are opportunities to get out on complimentary excursions although the resort's location is around 40 mins from Muscat and if you want to see Oman properly you will probably need a car. Meals at the resort although in general excellent are at least 3 times what you might expect to pay in local independent restaurants and generally above the rates which you would pay in pricey eateries Central London. That said it's an excellent resort but don't expect a bargain.

We needed a bit of luxury, sunshine, the sound of the sea, some good food and general spoiling. That's what we got. The hotel was excellent, food outstanding, sun and sea come as standard and were we spoiled. YES.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough.....pure luxury and the most attentive, friendly staff. I am so glad we paid the extra for this hotel as it was far superior to the others and in fact any I have stayed in before. A guest at the hotel said it was better than a well-known hotel he had just come from in Dubai so I was delighted. On the last day we ventured to the private beach which is gorgeous and the spa is just lovely. I have to say though I went at the end of August and it was oh so hot. I will definately return here and although I am extremely well-traveklled, normally never venturing somewhere twice, this hotel is well-worth the trip even just for pure relaxation. Superb!

Everything about the hotel was amazing expect the small details. They mentioned that each delux room came with a butler and ipod, but neither one was there and we asked, all we got was excuses. During check-out I informed the front office manager about the incident and all they offer was an upgrade the next we stay at the hotel - not sure if that will happen.

Der er 3 forskellige hoteller på resortet - det syntes vi ikke helt tydeligt fremgår. Al Bandar og Al Waha er meget ens for børnefamilier - her er MANGE børn og hvad dertil hører. Det minder mest af alt om et charterhotel og har intet med 5* luksushotel at gøre. Al Husn er meget mere privat og tillader ingen børn, så det er stedet for par uden børn. Gennemsnitsalderen da vi var der, var på omkr 50-60 år. Stedet har 2 gode restauranter, men hvis man kan lide larm/børn/mavedans/vandpiber (i bedste charterferie-stil) kan man benytte faciliteterne på de øvrige hoteller. De øvrige hoteller kan benytte Al Husn's restauranter (uden børn) men ikke pool og den private strand - det er kun for Al Husn's gæster. Værelser, personale, morgenmad, pool, strand - ja det hele - på Al Husn er fantastisk. Resortet ligger lidt øde og der er 20 mins kørsel til Muscat.

Utomordentlig service och fantastisk pool. Suverän för barnfmiljer!

Sehr schönes Hotel, mit ausgezeichneter Wellness-Oase und Health Club. Hier kann man sich richtig erholen und verwöhnen lassen. Ruhig gelegen ohne jeden Autolärm. Beim Schnorcheln sieht man hunderte von bunten Fischen und wenn man Glück hat kann man auch noch die Schildkröten beobachten. Sehr freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal. An der Beach wird man reichlich mit kaltem Wasser, Obst und kühlen Tüchern versorgt.

L'hotel Shangri-La Al Husn est digne d'un palace. Le personnel est vraiment à vos petits soins. Le gouter est offert (vrai buffet de petit gateau), l'apéro est également offert. Superbe petite plage privée pour le Al Husn. Restauration haut de gamme sans être excessif Bref, un séjour plus qu'agréable et bien reposé.
