The hotel was nice, but I had lots of problems finding it. It wasn't so easy to spot! The staff was helpful. My hotel keys didn't work for the first day and that wasn't so pleasant. Internet worked really well in the room. Rooms were very noisy!! I liked my stay..but wouldn't go again to the same hotel.

We were very satisfied with our stay in Belmondo hotel. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. It is just 10 mins walk from the Salzburg Station. The hotel staff were also very helpful. There were no coffee-tea provision in the room, if they could also provide that it would have been great. Will definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

Hotel was basic, easily knowing you pay for what you get, room clean but TV wasn't working, wifi not connecting, duvet was more like a sheet & pillow so low it didn't feel like a pillow. Most of the sights can be seen on a stroll through Salzburg's historic city center: the Residence, the Carillon, the Cathedral, the Franciscan Church, Mozart Square, the Horse Pond, Hofstallgasse, Hohensalzburg Fortress, St. Peter's Monastery from the hotel. Nice stroll down along the river. Handy small shopping centre close to the hotel to pick up essentials. Most shops closed on a Sunday. Europark shopping centre easy accessible by bus from hotel. Definitely look into visiting Red Bull Hangar 7 display, again accessible by bus close to the hotel.

The location is convenient for arrival by train. The room is spacious although outdated and slightly dirty. However, we were locked out at 22:40 when we returned from dinner. When we first checked in, the receptionist notified us of the reception closing at 23:00 but he was gone when we got back at 22:40! Unfortunately, our keycard simply did not work (it did previously) and we were locked out in the rain and had to call the taxi company (they have a deal with the taxi company for after hours service). They did not even supply a phone in case this happens (and it has happened repeatedly if you read TripAdvisor reviews) so my boyfriend had to walk to the train station twice in the rain to call them while I stood at the entrance alone waiting for the taxi. By the time the taxi arrived, it was 15 past midnight. We would have given the hotel a rating of 4 if this unfortunate incident had not happened.

Stayed for four nights. Like others, I chose this hotel because it had an outstanding price and was close to the Hauptbahnhof. It was also close to a major bus line (#27) that would take you to Altstadt, and there is a Billa (the primary grocery store) just two blocks away. It is by no means a fancy hotel, but I wasn't expecting a 5-star for the price! I tend to be out of the room most of the day seeing sights anyway. That said, the room was more than adequate in size, and staff were very helpful. If you get a chance, take the 150 bus out to the Salzkammergut region to St. Gilgen and the Wolfgangsee...an inexpensive and convienent journey...and truly beautiful!

The hotel room is spacious and comfortable, especially the bathroom, is huge! The two negative points about the hotel is the reception is only open from 6am to 10.30 pm, so if you need help during night time, there is no help available. Another point is lift is build inside the reception room. So if you are carrying huge luggage, you can't take the lift till ground floor after 10.30pm, because the reception room is locked. You got to take the lift to second floor and drag your luggage down the flight of stairs.

Quite a nice hotel for the price. Room was spacious and clean. About a 10-15min walk to the old city centre which is fine if you enjoy a morning walk. Plenty of restaurants nearby.

This hotel seemed to be a good price, but the advertisements for it were misleading. There is no wireless internet! And they have a few ethernet cords, but they never had any available during our stay. We asked if we could use the internet in the lobby for free then, and they said no. Unfriendly staff. The TV also did not work in our room.

Booked hotel cause they claimed parking was available, when I checked in they had no spots available and staff member didnt know where was a safe/legal place to park nearby. Luckily it was the weekend, still had to park 2 blocks away. About a 15 minute walk from the centrAl area. Room clean but small.No internet available.

Stayed at this hotel for one night during a busy season, so they were not able to accommodate our request for a court side room (highly recommend as otherwise it is loud even with the windows closed). The TV in our room did not work, so we asked the man at the front desk to help. After some trying, he established that because they are booked solid, he cannot get us a cord to fix it. He did, however, do everything in his power to make up for it otherwise- Very Successfully! The breakfast was excellent and the location of it is on the rooftop overlooking the mountains. The location of the hotel is close to the main train station and Mirabell Gardens, but it is a 20ish minute walk to the fortress and main streets. Overall, a great experience.

Very central hotel near to all local amenities. Rooms were very comfortable. Do think 3p.m check in is late when you have been travelling all morning. Was surprised that there was not yet wi fi facilities in the rooms, and the one and only internet connection in the reception was not working. Did not like that at night time there is no night porter on duty for safety and security reasons.

smallest room I have ever stayed in. Neighborhood seems dodgy. They gouge with their prices for parking, breakfast etc. The bed sagged so bad in the middle we both had sore backs.

We have stayed here twice and the hotel is great. The only downfall is the proximity to old town. It could be closer, but then the prices would be a lot higher. You can walk to old town by the river in about 10 minutes. If you plan on using your computer a lot bring a cable to hook up to the outlet since they don't have WIFI. They do rent out cables for 5 euros (deposit you get back when you return cable) Great Budget Hotel!

This is a two star hotel at absolute best. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly but our room was filthy. The curtains were so dirty I felt I had to wash my hands after closing them. The carpet was old and dirty, as were the duvets and pillows. I did not feel comfortable sleeping as I was so aware of how old the pillows were. The bathroom was ok, except that the shower door had a big leak and our floor was a swimming pool after each shower. Would definitely not recommend this hotel and will not go back.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Belmondo. I would not consider it a four star, but a very comfortable three star. The woman at the front desk was very kind, efficient and helpful.

Great location and very nice staff, however quite pricey for what it was, The room condition were immaculate, would definately stay again but will remember to bring my own toothbrush next as this was not included.

We selected this hotel because of its price and despite negative reviews on Tripadvisor, but we were concerned.We were pleasantly surprised. The location was very convient ,right across a subway U station. The room was small but was adequate for a couple. The reception staff was nice and helpful. It included free Internet access. Breakfast was not included but coffee and soft drinks are availble for purchase in the reception.

If you want the best customer service, affordable, good food, and really clean hotel, this is th place to stay. The front desk, especially the director, was very helpful, friendly and just exceptional cutomer relations. The building itself was under renovation so we couldn't see the sign right away. The rooms are spotless. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise. The top floor location was sunny & lovely. Perfect to start your day.

Excellent and quaint location hotel that is for the trendy and economy minded people. Loved the location and near everything, tains staion, river and old town. Excellent restaurant next block over at corner.

Having read the reviews before visiting Salzburg, I was very uneasy about the hotel. However, I must admit I enjoyed Belmondo hotel very much. The room was spacious, clean and had a big bathroom. No noise problem as was indicated in other reviews, though the room did not face the road. The personnel was very helpful and courteous. The best was the location. The hotel is situated in a walking distance from the Old town and main sightseeing places (except Helbrunn palace). I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone who is looking for a nice hotel, within a walking distance from the main sites and who is not looking for penthouses and jakkuzi.

hotel only has 5 parking spaces. staff was clueless as to alternatives when their lot was full. pathetic.

Excellent location - VERY close to the bus/train station. Downtown/old town is a ten minute scenic walk, tops. Some excellent restaurants in the area, especially the Italian place right next door (inexpensive, too). Staff seemed very enthusiastic and nice. Breakfast was a BIT weak - I would recommend getting something at the Cafe Bazar on your way to Old Town. The main negative point is the lack of wireless internet access - they really need to get that. Even if it cost an extra 5-10 Euros per day, it'd be worth it as the hotel is so inexpensive to begin with.

I honestly don't know how this hotel got this many stars. It is clearly in a bad neighborhood that is not within reasonable walking distance to the main attractions in Salzburg. We got into our room that was the size of a shoe box with no AC. It was so muggy and stale in the room we had to open the windows, but then the traffic noise was so loud you could have never slept. It sounded like trucks were driving through the room. We asked for a room change but the front desk said everyone had already requested the rooms in the back. What a mess, we left and had to get another hotel. Down right awful, don't be fooled by the price or the stars!!!!

Background: 30-something husband and wife needed a room for a few nights in Salzburg. We chose the room based on reviews and proximity to the train station. The Belmondo Hotel provides more than an adequate place to rest your head on a short stay; however, the size of the rooms will not be adequate for some people's tastes on a longer stay. We had a double-room. It consisted of a double bed (two mattresses pressed together) with lighted end tables on each side. The bed was positioned off-center of the room which allowed for an open floor area. Not spacious by any means, the open area was large enough to lay down our large suitcases and reassess our packing situation. The room had an armoire to hang clothes and a small corner desk with a TV and a place to rest your laptop. The hotel offers wired internet, so bring a cord; otherwise, the hotel can provide you one with a 5E refundable deposit. The bathroom is spacious for European standards: a shower with a tub big enough to stretch-out in. Two people could operate in the bathroom simultaneously. I found the bathroom to be open, airy and pleasing. The internet did only work intermittently; perhaps this was just my experience, but I wound up giving up on it by the first night and collected my deposit. The check-in was a smooth process. The young woman who checked us in was pleasant and accomodating. She offered us a street map and drew directions to places of interest. She even kept a smile and what I believe to be a genuine positive attitude after I came back down and barraged her with several questions and requests. She allowed me to print my train tickets from the hotel's computer, which was a nice gesture. The hotel is within a 10-minute walk to the train station and is within walking distance of old Salzburg within 15-minutes, so it is a nice, central location. I did not perceive the area to be one of the best parts of Salzburg, though I never felt unsafe (however, I did take a cab pack to the hotel at night, s

It is an ok hotel. It could be better. There is a little Italian restaurant next to the hotel that offers great meals.

+ve - Bus stop with very frequent buses to the old town and train station right outside the Hotel -ve - Too expensive for the type/grade of B&B/Lodge. Possible to get other better hotels available in Salzburg for similar price - No tea/coffee facilities in room; you can get it from the reception for a charge - no mini bar and no facilities offered to chill anything even at the reception - No restaurant, no room service - Staff was just okay

I stayed here for 3 nights and it was just what I wanted. Very simple and basic, but the room had everything I needed, was very clean, spacious and quiet. I think I was the only one on my floor. The front desk closes at 11pm, but as long as you check in on your first day prior to then, you use your hotel key to get in after 11. I had no problem with this both nights I did it. The area is very safe and feels residential. It's right next to the river, and about a 7 minute walk to the train station in one direction, or the Mirabelle Gardens in the other. Highly recommended--but if you are looking for amenities, this is not for you. I was in town for a conference and wanted a nice home base for the brief times I would be in the room and where I wouldn't be bothered, and it was perfect.

We found the Belmondo Hotel to be a no frills, but clean hotel. Yes the front lobby is closed between 11PM-6AM and you have to take the stairs to the first floor to use elevator. It is centrally located but you do have to go outside the immediate area for food. The beds were comfortable except for the pillows which could an upgrade. Our bathroom had a full size tub and the room was large by European standards. The staff spoke very good English and were very polite and helpful. What more could you want for the price? Lack of A/C could be a problem in the summer.

For this hotel the most important thing to remember is that you are getting good value for money. You are fairly close to the city centre and the hotel provides good and friendly service, clean rooms, very reasonable comfort and a very nice breakfast room. Only negative point I can think of is the hotel car park which is just a plot behind the hotel. There is no security and no quick access into the hotel. Overall I had a very pleasant stay.

The location and price were good (only 10 minute walk to the city and 2 blocks to the train station). For the price, this hotel is small, but very clean and fit our needs.

It's located on a main street. Rooms on the front are REAL noisy. They originally gave us a room on 1st floor but that just felt like we were living ON the street. We asked to change room. They moved us to third floor but still facing the front and it's still VERY noisy. My husband and I couldn't sleep well that night. Fortunately it's only one night. Keep in mind that there's no A/C in the hotel. So either you have to open the windows and stay noisy, or shut the windows, little better but room is stuffy. Other then that, the hotel is a walkable distance to the train station. Bus stop right across street. Affordable price for a neat hotel. Italian restaurant right next door is good too.

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel. It is in a very convenient location. You can walk to train station and there are also nearby buses. You can walk to the old town. The staff at the hotel is also great. Karin, May and Anja were all very helpful and spoke great English. You can't find a better hotel in Salzburg for the money. Great restauranat down the block - Steirische Weinstuden (good pork and dumplings) and good pizza in the restaurant next door. Also the small shop across the street is run by a nice man. He has pastries, coffee, sandwiches and fruit. Also near the river, nice walking paths on both sides of the river.

We booked this hotel because we needed a spot close to the train station. Though not the closest hotel, it was well within walking distance. Also close to the tram, it is two stops from the train station and two stops from the Mirabel Gardens. All staff encountered spoke English, provided spot on directions, and were helpful. The rooms weren't horrible. Typical to most hotels, the room was smallish and there was no A/C, just a window you can open, so you'll hear the sirens.

Very noisy in room due to busy traffic on main street. Luggage storage area is waiting area - no security. Nice breakfast eating terrace on roof top. Location is not as close to activities as one would expect - surrounded by closed down shops.

This clean, business-like hotel was an excellent choice to stay in Salzburg. It had good in-room amenities such as free internet, a tv and haridryer. It's located an easy 5 minute walk away from the main train station. The old town with it's many tourist attractions is a pleasant 15 minute stroll away along the river front. We requested a non-street room when we got there and this was quiet at night even with the windows open. The breakfast seemed a bit expensive at 11 euros so we didn't try it but there are a couple of good bakeries nearby. All in all great value if you don't mind not being right next to the old town, we're very pleased we stayed there.

This is really a nice hotel. Quite good location near the river. It is very clean and comfortable. I would like to go back next time when I visit Salzburg

I stayed a total of 7 nights. 4 at the front of my journey and 3 at the end. I was able to check in early after a long flight from the U.S. and a layover in Frankfurt. My room was a Queen (two twins pushed together) but quite spacious. Reading the other entries on the sight I can see why you would not want a room on street level or in the front, however, mine was overlooking the courtyard and on the 4th floor then 3rd floor. Staff were very accomodating and friendly (Thank you, May!) The location looks deceiving but it is actually very well located to the train, river, riverwalk, short distance to downtown, and right next to 2 bustops (very simple bus system), and I have to saythe BEST italian restaurant I have ever eaten in right next door, Toscanas'. (sad, because I spent 11 days in Italy and found better food in Salzburg). The room was clean and the price was well worth it. Best hotel I stayed at on my entire trip in Europe for 2009. (...and the cheapest!)

The rooms are a little Spartan, but comfortable enough. This hotel doesn't have a luggage room, it is still possible to leave your big bags after checking out so you can go exploring - but they are left out in the lobby...the lobby desk is attended, but it's still not as secure as a locked room.

Great hostel. Helpful staff, clean and spacious rooms. A little far from the old town Salzburg but staff showed us how to easily take the bus and the walk only took about 15 minutes. Very close to the train station however.
