The room was very small (which was expected) but clean. There were practically no isolation between the rooms/corridor, so I could hear my neighbours and people passing outside my room as clearly as if they had been in there with me. The location was good, close to Paddington station and Oxford street. However, the staff at the hotell were very blase and could not care less if I was there or not. I did not at all feel like an appreciated guest. I guess you get what you pay for and overall the hotell was ok.

The room was clean and the receptionists were pleasant and helpful. However, the room and bathroom were tiny - I had to step over the toilet to get in and out of the shower! Even though I was on the 4th floor, it was quite noisy -there was a constant stream of traffic going past for most of the night and at about midnight there was a rubbish lorry idling its engine right outside the hotel for about half an hour. If you're a light sleeper take earplugs!

Okay to stay for a couple of days.

Good hotel for the price that I paid. Only a couple of minutes away from paddington station.

stayed in this hotel for three nights the bedroom was very small we paid for double room but it was no bigger than a single.very badly stocked bar only had bottles of wine and tins of beer, however the location is very good and staff very pleasant

The room was basic enough but proximity to Paddington Tube station is literally 2 minutes walk. Perfect if you plan on doing alot of sightseeing.

Overall experience was of a friendly and attentive staff, rooms were clean, beds comfortable and bed linen clean. We had a bad start in that the first allocated room was in the basement, no window, entirely airless and claustrophobic, a request to be moved resulted in a shift to a basement room with a window, followed by a second move to the 2nd floor the following day, all arranged politely and apologetically.

We stayed 3 nights. It is a small hotel in a converted london house near Paddington St and Hyde park. The location was very convenient for us. The staff was friendly and the overall atmosphere was nice. It looked a bit worn down in the hallways. In the room the carpet was dirty under the bed. The rooms were vey small, but had a shower and toilet attached. Since we only used it as a place to sleep we were happy with it even though it was not fancy.

great price for London I found the decor of the room a little dated/faded

Cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. Needs a paint and new carpets throughout.

overall very small room and very basic amenities.. good breakfast ..perhaps the staff could be nicer when answering some questions about cab fares etc..everything felt like it was a big hassle for them to deal with..would not return to the hotel even though it was very conveniently located to buses tube station etc..there are many other sussex garden hotels that have some better amenities

If you are looking for a clean and comfortable short or overnight stay, very close to Paddington with lots of convenient day and night bus services running outside, you could do much worse than the Gresham. Would definitely stay again

I loved the Paddington location, the entire neigbourhood, the choice of restaurants and the closeness to the tube station. The hotel itself is very cozy and nice, and the staff friendly and helpful. What we didn't appreciate, was that our room was in the basement, and rather crowded (a twin bed in addition to the double I'd asked for). The bathroom was also very small. However, when I next stop in London, I'd love to book a room with you!

The room had what I needed, a warm bed and a hot shower. Be prepared for some noise from the street and from poor sound isolation + creaky floorboards. Breakfast is usually served very late (starting at 07:30-08:00), however the staff was very kind and accommodating when I asked to eat earlier.

This is a reasonable option if you are looking for a low-cost place to sleep. The location close to Paddington and Lancaster Gate tube stops makes getting around easy, and the bed was OK for a budget hotel. If aesthetics are important to you, this may not be as good of an option...the paint and carpet seem to date back to the Thatcher era if not before. Clean enough, just worn. Staff was unfailingly pleasant and accommodating.

The room was fine. It was extremely small however that's what they say american's usally think of all of the European accomodations....which we did...lol It was a really nice little place. It was small and their 'largest' room still only had twin beds. But we were only there 2 nights and it was pretty affordable. But one of the clerks was extremely helpful. Showing us on a map of places to go for lunch as well as places to avoid at night.

Very convenient location Satisfied overall but a) parts of the Hotel need an update or makeover and b) daily cleaning not always up to standard Comfortable rooms, good breakfast and 24 hour Reception

The Pros: Free Wifi, breakfast, clean bathrooms, friendly staff, conveniently located near shops, restaurants and very close to Paddington Station. The cons: Old building turned into a hotel, small rooms, TV and elevator didn't work well, no AC, can be very noisy at times. I wouldn't stay here again, except if you're budget concious and only staying for a night and just need a place to sleep and shower. Based on the quality of the hotel, I don't think it deserves a 3 star rating, but more like a 2 star.

Position of hotel is very good. Street is nice. Rooms were very small and not very modern, but clean and tidy. Breakfast in hotel I don't recommend. For same price you can get much better breakfast in restoran's around hotel

Location is good, 5 minutes walking distance to Paddington Station which connects directly with Heathrow Airport. That's all what's good about the hotel. The window free (!) room was dirty, run down, bed sheets were synthetic, there were no free sockets, WiFi only worked in the tiny lobby, won't go there again.

Overall comfort level is moderate. But for thi price range is a good choice close to central london

My wife and I had one night to spend in London, and if we have another opportunity we will never pick this hotel. While the location was what we were looking for, very practical for shops and stations, the quality of our room was awful. The bedroom barely contained the bed, which was very uncomfortable and questionable if fit for use. The bathroom was a small cubicle and had mold problems. Our room was adjacent to the stairwell and we could hear everyone all night long. Needless to say we slept (tried to ) with our clothes on, did not use the bathroom and left as soon as we could. Our advice to future guests, go somewhere else.

I stayed 4 nights with my 8 yr old daughter, our room was quite small but it was comfortable and we were out all day anyway..Staff were lovely, location was great, it was really easy to get around. we would definetly stay again.. would recommend.

The beds were hard as rocks, but the staff was lovely and the rooms were clean and accommodating. It was just a short walk from Paddington Station and a lot of nice restaurants. I wish we had stayed there again instead of the other place we stayed!

Our stay at the Gresham was better than advertised

The hotel is in a great location if you're planning on being in the Leeds City Centre. The rooms are clean and modern. Sure, the beds could be softer, but life goes on :). The breakfast is good -- solid options (both hot and cold). The staff is fantastic. It was a little stuff in our room (time of year... too cold for a/c, a bit humid, and moderately warm), so they brought us up a desk fan. I called down to ask for a cab and they called. Just a couple of examples... the service is first rate and very friendly.

Fridge did not work. Toilet seat was broken

my 8 nights of stay floor was never swept carpet was never vacuumed also other rooms door wake me up as when they close the door it gets too loud.bed sheet was never changed.

We were booked into the basement rooms that were on the small side, no outside window so a bit clostrophobic. Close to hide park and on the bus route, ideal for a 1 night stop but would not liked to stay for a week. Staff on the desk were very helpfull and pleasant

Hotel was very convienently located two blocks from the Paddington Station which has the Heathrow Express and several of the Tube lines. The single room was very small and cramped but doable for someone who does not spend much time in the room. The internet and TV were great. Overall, a good value for its location!

The hotel's locatiois it's main attribute and attraction. It's very close to paddington train station and a lot of local eateries. From paddington interchange, you can get everywhe rather quickly and efficientlt. The neighbourbood is pretty safe and quiet. The room however was stuffy without proper ventilation. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't recommend the5E breakfast -lots of optionsavailavle for similar cost outside. I would recommend staying there only if you intend to sleep in your room and out and about the rest of the day.

This hotel is not perfect by any means - it desperately needs new carpets and the rooms are London sized (expect extremely small rooms most places you stay in London). However, the sheets were clean, as was the bathroom and the room was serviced daily. The lift is a bit slow and small so we took the stairs but for us that was good exercise. If you really had trouble with the stairs then you could use the lift. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful - they recommended some good restaurants in the local area. There are many good places to eat if you stay away from the chain-stores. The hotel is conveniently located walking distance between several tube stations. The entire street is filled with hotels and we probably wouldn't stay here again (we'd look for a less touristy area).

On first impressions this hotel is nice - great location (round the corner to Paddington Station and within walking distance to Hyde Park), friendly staff, clean rooms. We were staying in the basement room which concerned me at first but had a large window which didn't make it feel too claustrophobic. We were 3 girls staying here and there were only 2 plugs. Both of which you needed plugged in to make the tv work - so you could not have tv on whilst drying your hair/charging phone or camera. Really annoying!! I had read previous reviews and thought people were just moaning but when you are paying decent money and you want to be comfortable this is not the place to stay - I am not a moan bag normally but this place brought out the worst in me (probably due to lack of sleep)! The 1st night we arrived we went to bed around midnight and were woken up at about 2 with what can only be described as upstairs room dragging things across the floor the entire night. The noise then came and went from upstairs to the corridor outside our room ALL weekend. Our room was at the end of the corridor where they stored all the bed linen - hence the dragging and noise in the corridor - why they couldn't do this during the day is beyond me!!!We were being woken up at all hours of the night every night. It was virtually impossible to get any sleep in this hotel. The hotel was full so there was no chance of being moved rooms. Unless you are a vampire I would certainly not recommend this hotel to anyone. Only stay here if you can't find anywhere else in London - ever!

This attractive small hotel was a great base for our first week in the UK. Easy walk to Paddington station (even with luggage), excellent access to buses, good pubs, great indian and italian food as well as a wealth of breakfast cafes. Rooms are small but we slept well and felt comfortable. We toom two rooms for family of four.

Low rate. Clean. Small, cramped rooms that are randomly numbered - finding our room was like going on the up-down stair cases in a Harry Potter movie.

Good quality for the money you pay. Easy to get by metro and night buses. Not a luxory place but clean.

The room was extremely small and the bed was somewhat lumpy. But things were clean and the the staff was friendly. This is no frills and a place to sleep and the price was right. Walls are very thin and you can hear what going on around you. The location is great, just a short walk to the Paddington train station that can get you pretty much anywhere. Very cose to Hyde Park and a couple of miles from Buckingham Palace. Lots of restaurants close by. Wireless Internet worked fine once they provided the password.

Room is not clean, very dusty. Bed is very old, not good sleep at all.

Room is small. Shower is really small. The hotel is very noisy especially if you get the first floor. You hear people all night. No elevator. No breakfast included. But good places around. 5 minute walk to Paddington station.

This hotel is in a convenient location but the double room we were given was so tiny it was literally like a broom cupboard under the stairs.We were meant to get ready for a wedding but it was almost impossible to do so. It was so uncomfortable we felt unable to stay in it and were fortunate to have friends in London who offered us alternative accommodation. The price initially seemed reasonable but it turned out to be the most expensive left luggage locker in London. We did not get a refund or apology when we explained we were leaving.

Over-priced. Phone system didn't work. Tiny room. Good location for Paddington station. But wouldn't recommend.

Excellent location, but not much space in the room. Single file around the bed.

This place needs love and attention. The room was small, the floor wobly, the place noisy, th water boiler dirty, and the shower spartan. At some point in the morning a loud alarm turned on. But nothing happend after that. Overpriced. I hope by now you have the impression I wouldn't recommend it.

Location was good, very close to Tube station and train station to Gatwick airport. The only real complaint was the room was a bit cold and the mattress was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. That may have just been our room though because the mattress appeared very worn as though springs were coming through. The place was clean though, service was fine, decent for the price.
