Swiss-Belhotel Golden Sand Resort and Spa - هوي أن

Enjoyed a 4 night stay in the Swiss Belhotel. Excellent location and facilities and the experienced lived up to expectations. The only reservation was that the Hotel Bars + restaurants lacked atmosphere.

This resort is nice but doesn't have the level of service one would expect from a 4.5 star. The highlights were the pool (even though there was temporary fencing obstructing the view due to maintenance), the buffet breakfast and the free shuttle into town. The downfalls include the disappointing food at the White Orchid restaurant, treatments at the Spa and the overpriced Internet. The majority of the staff were pleasant. However, just make sure you check the bill before you pay. We had a room charge of over $100USD appear on our bill where we had no idea what it was for. When we questioned it the staff couldn't explain why but removed it from the bill. The next day when we were checking out the charge reappeared on the bill, again no explanation. If returning to Hoi An I would probably stay at another resort unless there was a very good special here.

the perfect place to relax - certainly in the off-season. great hotel, beach and pool. breakfast adequate - not great. beach wonderful, huge pool and looong beach to walk on. shuttle service to hoi an and good airport service - only about $5 for more for toyota 4wd compared to nasty taxi.

Had a great time in the hotel. The shuttle bus to Hoi An historic downtown is convenient and frequent. The food in the western restaurant does get boring after a day or two and should be worked on. The vietnamese kitchen is nice even though I am sure Vietnam has a lot more food to offer. The massage is well overpriced, as are the offered tours. The service is great, the staff is not always good in English but one just have to get used to it. I will definitely return if I am in Vietnam for vacations again.

The hotel is well located close to the ancient town with hotel shuttle bus and cheap taxis for convenient transport there. The hotel is clean and staffed by very attentive staff but does require a face lift as the rooms are beginning to look a little tired. The pool also needs some TLC. The beach is good and the happy hour specials spread across the resort made staying around for happy hour attractive. Relaxing stay and good value for money.

For the price, you cannot beat the quality of the hotel, the rooms and the amazing pool located on the beach. Having said that, the service here is lackluster at absolute best. My girlfriend and I traveled SE Asia for 2 1/2 weeks staying at places ranging from $80 per night to $500 per night, though Golden Sand definitely had the worst service even though it was in the middle of that range. I've never experienced such a language barrier as I did at this hotel, which is incredibly odd as it's such a tourist destination. Pretty much everyone in town could speak English and even the bellman/taxi drivers were adequate, but the receptionists, bartenders, etc. barely understood a single word. Calling them for something was a joke... we called to let them know custom suits were being delivered and to let the fitters come to our room and they transferred us to laundry service. We also tried to get change for 500,000 dong (only $25) and it took about 20 minutes before they finally admitted they had changed and helped us out. Overall, it's a gorgeous hotel, but unfortunately, I would NOT recommend staying here more than a night as the poor service wears on you quickly.

The hotel is a big resort just facing the ocean. There is a big pool and two restaurants. We just tried the breakfast buffet, which was lovely. They had all from omelets to pancakes and the vietnamese style pho. The rooms are big and comfortable, but the shower head definetely needs to be changed and upgraded, and the showercurtains were old and looked shabby. Shuttle buses leaves to town every second hour approx, but a taxi is about 80-90 thousand vnd which is quite cheap. Also the spa service was not the best, I do not think that the spa personel has undergone any massage training prior to working here, so don't get your hopes up, but this is typical Vietnam in general. Also you must remember that when coming and staying in a developing country like Vietnam, the service is not at the level of Thailand that is atleast 20 years ahead. So don't expect fluent english or top notch service. They are wonderful and smiling people and they do there best, so that you can be happy about. I will give this hotel a 4 star rating.

Generally very happy with the hotel; excellent, private room overlooking the ocean. Public areas very spacious and well maintained with delightful gardens. My only negative comment regards the 'breakfast experience'; the selection and quality of food was fine (not excellent but aceptable) however the breakfst area was rather small and cramped with too many dinners wandering around a small buffet area. The breakfast staff were very friendly and tried to be helpful but seemed to lack suffficient training (a request for tea resulted in a cup of cold tea being delivered). However, the worst thing of all, and this is no fault of the hotel management of course, was that less than endearing habit so prevalent among British tour parties of 'surreptitiously' taking food from the breakfast buffet and concealing it in a waiting over sized hand bag to obviate the need to spend a few pounds on lunch. It was acutely embarrassing to watch

Hotel was great, we travelled with 3 young children, pool was fantastic for them. There is a lot of work going on by the beach at the moment, but probably won't be for much longer. The location was OK, their shuttle bus is not regular at all, but a cab is only 4 USD into town. You could walk to nearby shops and restaurants along the beach (5 min walk) which was much cheaper than in town for food and still good. Beds and pillows were hard as rock, even with extra quilts under sheets. Breakfast was great, huge variety, restaurants were nice, but of course more expensive than outside hotel. The kids club is non existant. There is a room with not much in it that the kids can go to and be supervised, but not really any activities or anything organised, also for over 3 which was incorrect on the website. Babysitting was available for 5USD/hr. All in all a nice holiday.

my wife and I stayed 5 nights at the hotel and it was really a nice hotel. Huge swimming pool, service minded staff and overall a very plesant stay. The hotel also had a transfer service to/from Hoi An which we used frequently. Food is rather expensive at the hotel compared to Hoi An but that is expected of hotels in this category. Overall a great stay.

Lovely spacious room; resort had prime location right on the ocean; great breakfasts. Staff extremely helpful when I thought I'd lost my credit card in town. Later learned one of them had found it in the hotel and had turned it in.

we had a great time in hoi an. this place was comfortable and nice. good value- compared to home

What a nice hotel. Nice comfortable rooms, great gym and spa facilities. Food and beverage outlets were also on the money and the staff were very friendly. The only down side was the weather, but that will teach me for wanting to go on a tanning holiday during the raining season! Love the location of the hotel, out of the town, on the beach and only a short bus ride to the town for all your shopping needs.

Hotel was excellent.. Accomodations were very good and rooms above normal in size and cleanliness.. Staff very attentive and accomodating.. Resturants are well staffed and food and service excellent.. The Vietnamese restaurant on site is better than most in town.. Pool and beach access are world class.. I reccomend this hotel to highly.. I travel all over the world and this is a world class establishment..........

Vor einem Jahr waren wir bereits in diesem Hotel und rundum sehr zufrieden. Man merkt, dass alles ein Jahr älter ist und daher Abnützungserscheinungen überall sichtbar sind. Als wir ankamen, war das Wasser im Pool grün - über Nacht wurde es - oh Wunder (Chemie sei Dank!) wieder wunderschön blau. Der Service sowie das Essen sind noch immer ausgezeichnet. Das Hotel eignet sich bestens für Familien (mit nicht allzu kleinen Kindern, Hochstühle sind nur zwei verfügbar) oder Vietnamreisende, die sich ein paar Tage am Meer erholen möchten.

Хороший отель, сложности возникали при общении с персоналом: вьетнамский вариант английского языка слишком труден для понимания (не только в конкретной гостинице, но и во всей стране).

The resort live up to expectations on location, buildings,pool and standing. The service is so poor you think you are at a 1 star location. This appliess to pool men, restaurant and reception as well as business center. If you look for a nice relaxed few days in the sun, choose somewhere else.
