Location is good, - close to all sightseeing areas and station

Located just around the corner from the Gare Central exit, we were able to drop off our baggage and fully enjoy Brussels by night. The service was friendly, and quick. The rooms were simple but fine - I recommend getting a room facing away from the street. It's small, but a little busy at night (not cars, but festive people). Blankets are typically southern (the classic hotel envelope) - this is fine during summer, but for a winter stay I would prefer a proper blanket. Overall a good experience. Highly recommend it.

Reasonable hotel. Good value for money. Excellent location very close to Brussels Centraal Station, metro, and tourist attractions in Brussels. Their service is basic. Little strange that they couldn't give me coffee in the morning unless I had the full breakfast, for which I didn't have time.

Small well situatied hotel with goo price quality ratio.

The room I go had no heat sources, except for a central inlet of air thru a ventilation system. The first night was it off and the room was freezingly cold. The next night was the ventilation system on, made a hell of a noise and made the room very warm. It took two phone calls to the reception to make them turn it down. The room was divided into two floors with stairs between. Not very practical. I cannot recommend the hotel to others, not even due to the perfect location. The people at the reception were in general very nice.

We are frequent travelers at European hotels. We know how they work. We're not picky. We're flexible. But this one beat all -- it's unfortunate when a staff is so unprofessional that it ruins all of the good points of the hotel. First we were berated for arriving well before check-in. (do we have control over transatlantic schedules?) The front desk receptionist first glared at me and then scoldingly referred to the check-in sign that clearly stated the 3:00 p.m. time. She was having none of an early check-in possibility. She ordered us to come back no earlier than 2:00 p.m. It was 10:00 a.m. After a transatlantic flight. It was 32 degrees out. Welcome to Brussels. Later when she was GENEROUSLY giving us our room at 2:00 p.m., she answered the phone and told them she couldn't help them because she was dealing with guests at the desk "who are not very happy." It's nice to be used as an excuse so someone doesn't have to do their job. And we weren't unhappy. We were just tired. Later that night, another front desk receptionist berated us for ringing the doorbell to be let in. "Don't you see that I'm here?" he scolded us. Well, it was around 11:00 p.m. and a lot of hotels lock their doors at night. And how could he notice us as he was deep in a mobile phone coversation behind the desk?

The warmest place in this hotel was outside.

Hotel in great location, with lots choice of food around and 3 mins walk to station, over all, we are happy about this hotel, if the staff can speak better english will be much more helpful then !

My only issue with this hotel that it was difficult to find in the dark. The heat in the room is controlled by the front desk-how strange! Well worth the low price.

I do not recommend the hotel because: NO response to faults, such as (1) Philips Digital TV picture distortion, (2) TV service failing every 26 minutes, (3) Safe was locked on arrivla and the promised unlocking never happened, (4) WiFi Internet access router was not switcehd on until I pointed it out after showing that even the lobby computer would not access internet, after they charged me a login charge. Room temperature is controlled from the Reception Desk! Breakfast is from tinned supplies. Raw eggs have to be cooked by the guests. Better breakfast at EXKI 400m away. No tea or coffee making provision in the room. Location is very near Grand Place. Room and bathroom were very clean.

very convenient for the Grand Place and Central Station, so it is close to restaurants and bars and still easy to get to your meeting in the morning. Facilities are minimal, but sufficient. Price varies a lot depending on demand, so it can range from good value to overpriced, but this is also true of many Brussels hotels.

Larger room than expected, reasonable price, and excellent location for visiting the city.

This hotel has been very reliably reviewed on tripadvisor - Very convenient to Grand Place - Round corner from cafes and bars; Rooms are small but beds are very comfortable - king size in our room - overall very happy with quality for the price. It's a lively area, and a very un-assuming frontage - if you want a very quiet location, this would not be it, but if you want to be at the heart of citynight life, excellent

It's very new and nice with convenient location, very close to Grand Place. Everything is nice except the noise during the night. There are some bars near by and some drunk people just yell on the street and wake people up!

Sure, the actual street is on is not the prettiest but the Alma Grand is walking distance from both the central station of Brussels and all of the tourist attractions. The hotel and rooms themselves are nice even though we got a basement room with had some hard to climb stairs from the bedroom to the bath. Amenities and services are adequate if you intend not to stay in the hotel much time.

Adequate room and good location but service well below par. We arrived late and found room cold. No thermostat or instructions on how to adjust room temperature. Next morning we had no hot water. Contacted front desk who fixed the problem and told us we had to contact them to adjust room temperature. They offered no apology for the inconvenience and would not provide free wi-fi or any other compensation. Desk clerk was surly and uncooperative.

I stay in this hotel on most business trips to Brussels. It's not a corporate hotel and is relatively basic but this is reflected in the price. The rooms are a good size, the beds are comfy and so far each room i have stayed in has had a really itneresting view out onto the roof tops of the surrounding streets. Its 2 mins walk from the best parts of Brussels

Very attentive service from staff who helped us with all aspects of visit. Twin room was quite spacious and v comfortable - street facing room was quite noisy on Saturday night, but this is to be expected due to central location. Minutes from the Grand Place with a wide variety of restaurants and cafes nearby.

This is an excellent hotel perfectly located for all the attractions in Brussels. The hotel is smart, clean and the staff are friendly. I would definitely recommend The Alma Grand Palace hotel.

I have stayed in Alma hotel for only one night to catch the flight next morning. It was a wonderful experience to stay at the hotel as the room was very spacious and the price I paid on hotels.com was great for what we got in return. Hotel was within a few minutes from the main square, in the perfect location and also very near the train station. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to enjoy Brussels. I spend only 1 night in Alma...but thats enough to have a positive opinion about room clealiness,comfort and high tech interier.The hotel located near by train station and in the same time close to all the must-see sights and to pubs,restoraunts.Lady in reception was realy kind and noty .Only one detail made me upset-chargeble and expensive wi fi access...I guess in 21st centure internet should be free in a hotel...

We had a 15 hour layover in Brussels, so we decided to stay in the city centre for the night. We took the train from Brussels Airport to Brussels Central Station, which was only 20 minutes...and it was a 4 minute walk from the train station to the hotel! Very convenient!! And an added bonus was that everything we wanted to see - Grand Place, the little peeing boy, and great restaurants - were all within minutes away!! So even though we only had 15 hours, it felt like we saw so much because of the location of our hotel. The only thing is that the we had a room facing the little road, so it was noisy until about 3am. But it added to the Brussels charm and liveliness!

The rooms were a surprise being 2 story units with 2 baths for the doubles....we liked it. However, when I booked I was told breakfast was included and they refused to give us breakfast. They also charged our group extra for @ person @night over 4 people. That doubled the price of each room, so it really wasn't a great deal for us. The location was excellent and the rooms were nice.

hotel is quiet breakfast is outrageously expensive for what it offers, and you pay 3 euro more just for being a non-resident (which is ludicrous, why should a brussels resident wanting to go to a hotel?) the desk has a pouf, not a chair, so it is uncomfortable like in many european hotels (and I'm european myself), these guys treat you as they're doing you a favor in accepting your money all in all, I recommend the hotel because it is near the center, quiet, reasonable

The hotel was fine we had a room on the fifth floor but it was at the front , I'm not the greatest sleeper in hotel rooms but the noise at this one was like nothing I've ever had to put up with and it went on till 5am. We stayed for the jazz festival I don't know if that made a difference. The hotel was 2 mins from the main square and 5 mins from the main train station. I would only stay if you can pre book a room at the back. Don't bother with breakfast.

Front the outside, it doesnt give you a good impression, but we had a good surprise how confortable and clean the hotel is! highly recommended, specially because of the great location!

Great location on a narrow street through the old city. Close to good restaurants and brasseries. My only complaint would be that I had an early flight and people were outside having a great time until 5 or 6am. It was a Saturday night on a beautiful day in Brussels and, all things considered, I'd have been out with them, but my early flight was made a little worse from the noise. All in all a simple, clean, inexpensive hotel from which to enjoy the city's beautiful sights.

Cozy hotel with nice staff and modern décor. It is just a few meters walk to the city centre and to the train station. It can get very loud at night and the rooms are fairly small, but it is an ideal hotel to stay for a long week-end. The breakfast had only a few options, but the price-performance ratio is very good.

This hotel is very convenient to the train station and the front desk staff are wonderful. The breakfast is fairly priced. Not Internet connection is not. The shower was set up in away that it was easy to flood the bathroom. The television set was too quiet to hear even though I asked that it be turned up. The AC ran all the time unless I opened a window. I could not find any controls. Thus it was cold and noisy, especially if you wanted to listen to the TV. My room had a loft bedroom, which was interesting, but a little inconvenient for we senior citizens that have to use the toliet at night.

As the title says, this hotel is very close to the Grand Place in Brussels and the Gare Central, so this is perfect hotel to see Brussels and Belgium. Can be a little noisy at night on the weekend, but did not cause me any major problems. Loved it.

The hotel was located about 10 minutes walk from the Central train station and only about 5 minutes to Grand Place. The hotel was also located on a very busy stret with cafes and restaurants that did not close until 3 or 4 AM. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing the street and for 3 out of the 4 nights( it rained very hard one night! amd kept the partyers at home!), it was very noisy and made it diffcult for us to sleep because of all the people hanging out on the street corner drinking/talking/singing/laughing until the wee hours of the night. We tried to move to a new room but the hotel was booked so we were stuck. Had the noise not been an issue, we would have enjoyed the the stay more, however, becasue we didn't get any sleep, our trip was not as relaxing as we had hoped.

This was a great place to stay in Brussels. A short (like two blocks) walk to the Grand Palace and Mannequin Pis, and less than 5-minute walk to the Brussels Central train station. My room (108) was big and the staff was very courteous. Can't think of a better place to stay for a better price in Brussels!

Once you get over the quirkiness of Belgian hospitality and the fact that local tax, internet (€10/day) and breakfast isn't included, the Alma is a great find - very modern, large rooms done in a late 70s style with spacious modern bathroom (with powerful shower) and separate toilet. Location is amazing for the price - steps away from the Grand Place, 24 hour convenience store next door, best shops, cafes and restaurants all around and Central Station under five minutes walk. Instead of breakfast at the hotel, head to Aux Gauffres du Bruxelles at the end of the street, at the end of street on Rue Marché aux herbes. Although the hotel isn't noisy the rooms at the front can be (I was awoken at 5am on the early hours of Saturday morning and 7am on the early hours of Sunday morning by revellers) so ask for a room at the back.

This hotel is a 5-minute walk from Brussels Central station. Since we took several day trips from Brussels, this hotel could not have been better situated for us. It was also very close to the Grand Place and within walking distance to the Magritte Museum. The folks at the desk were perfectly pleasant. It was a small room which was fine...kind of to be expected in a European city. Took them a couple of days to get our heat regulated but in the end it was fine. We were just glad that it could be adjusted from what we'd read about other hotels. Overall we feel the room and hotel were very good despite a pretty major drawback: It was not a very comfortable room. This is largely because of the bed. There wasn't really anywhere else to sit and read so that left the bed. Unfortunately there were only two tiny pillows which didn't provide any support or allow you to sit up comfortably. Even worse, the pillows were grotesquely lumpy. Thinking back I'm not sure why we didn't complain about them and try to get replacements. The bed itself was fine (firm). I do wish we'd had the usual comforter many European hotels provide but we just got a sheet and a blanket. Not very cozy.

This is the perfect hotel if you are planning on discovering Brussels on a reasonable budget for a couple of days!

After a little searching my girl friend and I found the Alma. Important to note is that you could not get any closer to the Grand Place than if you were staying in one of the hotels in it - close to great food, bars and site-seeing. We came from Paris and continued through to Amsterdam and this hotel was by far the best deal. We may have gotten an upgrade too because our room was on the top (5th) floor and huge! The view was spectacular and the bathroom really clean. I didn't find bed all that comfortable for for everything else I can forget that easily. The hotel staff even mailed postcards for us. Definite musts if you're near the Grand Place: 1) T'Kelderke restaurant is on the inside of the Grand Place. World famous and they brew their own beer. 2) A La Morte Subite is a bar close by. If your guide book doesnt mention it ask directions because this place has some of the best beer I've ever had. Atmosphere is fantastic as well and everything is affordable.

Went to Brussels for a weekend before Christmas and booked this hotel mainly because it was cheap and we were pleasantly surprised! Our room was spotlessly clean and modern, service was really good, they have a 24 hour reception where you leave your key everytime you go out which was great as didn't have to worry about losing it! All the staff spoke very good english, and they have a ticket system for luggage if you want to leave it at the hotel after you've checked out, all very secure. Also the location was brilliant, a 5 minute walk from the Grand Place and about 3 minutes walk to the central station; very close to all the main sites, but still really quiet, we felt like we were the only people in the hotel! Would highly recommend staying here and also would recommend visiting Belgium at Christmas time, the markets were brilliant and very festive!

The room was nice, but the shower flooded the bathroom floor. The front desk staff could have been a little friendlier (they weren't rude, just not friendly). Overall a very nice place to stay, and I'd stay there again.

The location can't be beat -- just three blocks from Central Station and two blocks off Grand Place (although it's really hard to find at first). The rooms are comfortable and have modern furnishings. The only drawback is the street noise below from the restaurants and bars at night. Of course, if you're a night owl, it's great to have lots to do immediately outside your door.

TV was borken in my room. The front desk was reluctant to help. Her initial reply was there was nothing she could do, then she asked me to wait to 10:30pm for someone coming to check on it when it was only 6pm at the time. Eventurally I was assigned to another room.

Hotel is not quite as "grand" as advertised, by certainly good enough. Room itself was good in a basic way, with a comfortable bathroom with plenty of hot water. The wi-fi service was not inexpensive and I found it to be frustratingly slow. Finally, the receptionist on the morning that I checked in was a bit unfriendly and she was downright surly with a visitor a couple of hours later--but the other folks at the desk were nice enough. So, all in all, ok-good in a very convenient location.
