This is a very convenient hotel just a block or two from the tube station to Heathrow and the British Museum. We had a large and comfortable room at a basement level. It is a quiet and stately area, with parks at both ends of the street. I would stay there again.

This hotel is located next to british museum and a short walk to oxford street. A perfect location, and a very beautiful hotel.

Description of room booked was not at all the reality. Classed as superior double room with fireplace (none),Cd player (none), premium satelite channels (could not get them), separate bathtub and shower (not). Receptionist seemed more amused than apologetic when I pointed out these items on booking printout.. Did nothing about it and no feedback from amangement.

Very comfortable room. Lovely bed, good shower, good location for theatre district. On the down side, our room was on the ground floor facing the street so there was some noise , and also there is no parking if you bring a car. However, the hotel has a deal with an underground carpark 100m away. Breakfast not included in our price and it was about £20 so opted to eat out. Otherwise a comfortable stay with nice helpful staff.

In the area north of Holborn, handy for tubes, buses and getting around without too much trouble. Hotel comfortable, people nice and room selected had a kitchenette - very handy. Also let us stay later, as room not booked, for a small fee up to 5pm, as weather was foul in London (snow), so it meant keeping warm indoors, before having to go home. Very handy for British Museum, Covent Garden, Bloomsbury and Kings Cross.

My husband and I stayed at the CLarendon for one night in January 2012. We were warmly greeted at check in and given a free upgrade to a deluxe room. Our upgraded room was enormous by London standards, sparkling clean, and beautifully furnished. The bathroom was a large black and white marble tiled room with a very big tub. The quality of the room was outstanding. The only detraction was that the bed was more firm than we generally prefer, so sleeping was a bit uncomfortable, and the windows do not block out the noise from the busy street below. We always travel with ear plugs, so the noise wasn't an issue for us. If you book this hotel just be aware of the firm bed and make sure to bring your ear plugs! Breakfast was not included in our rate and was very expensive, so I can't speak to the quality of their food. In general, this was an exceptionally lovely hotel and we would certainly stay here again if we found it for a good price again.

The beds were too hard for our taste but that seems to be very common in English hotels.

This excellent hotel next to British museum proved to be good value for the money. Breakfast is a bit expensive, but that is no problem since the area has a lot of nice small cafés that are open in the morning.

Not a bad hotel in not a bad place so I shouldn't say too many bad things about it. But I had one of the worst nights sleep here. They 'upgraded' me to the basement (which was nice) but beware if you get the same privilege. The breakfast room is inches above your head and as soon as the staff start preparing around dawn you can forget your sleep. It is soooooo noisy. Add in the fact that some Polish builders started re-pointing the wall outside my window as soon as it was beginning to get light and you'll get the point that it was noisy. Clean, efficient, average hotel.

Great location. Big room and bathroom. Hotel service was nice. Would recommend!

We enjoyed our stay but the price of breakfast was over the top.No mini bar in the room and the bar in the hotel was to small to use.

The location of the hotel is perfect! Central but quiet, and only 2 minutes to the British Museum and Russell Square tube stop. Brilliantly situated if, like me, you are attending a conference in the Bloomsbury area. The room was spacious, the bathroom expansive and the bed comfortable. The staff were pleasant and helpful. An all round very agreeable stay in a reasonably priced but perfectly situated hotel.

A well appointed hotel with friendly staff. 3 difficulties,though. 1. No double glazing in my. room:at front of the hotel had a lot of traffic noise 2 No curtains in bathroom: very odd... 3 No easy chair in a large bedroom - only a chair for the desk

we had a great experience at The clarendon, we would totally go back there. It is a quiet area. The room is a little small, but I guess this is normal in London. The bathroom was not small and this is important for me. I was pleased to have a good relaxing bathroom. The room was also bright and and the bed was comfortable. I like quiet areas where I can relax, the tube was also close... The hotel does not provide breakfast or free internet, but we were able to access this in the area.

Last minute booking and found this hotel due to Ita location. Fantastic service and very convenient even hen I realized I'd left my phone charger at home. Bar is open 24 hours, rooms are big and shower is large. Definitely would recommend this place to friends. Location is close to holborn station and centrally located to restaurants and transport. Service is outstanding and very friendly.

Title says it all.. An extremely small room (207) With only a small portable fan to cool down a sauna. The cleaning of the room was okay, but the topping up of the refreshment tray was non existent. So a 3 night stay with only 2 tea bags, just a little substandard. Will not be rushing back to The Clarendon.

Found the lovely room was spoilt by the constant noise overhead

Fabulous location (very close to Holburn & Russel Square tube stations), lovely hotel with sweet & helpful staff. We got upgraded unexpectedly for free to a room with a King size bed (we'd booked a normal double in advance) which was a pleasant surprise. Bathroom was fantastic - so nice to have a decent sized bath with shower over. It was all tiled too which made it a cool retreat on such a hot day, to freshen up. Bed was very comfy. We stayed on a Sunday night and the hotel was so quiet during the night, I wasn't woken up by any other guests in the corridor - very unusual but welcome! I'd definitely stay here again. One thing though: breakfast VERY expensive but you're a stone's throw away from Southampton Row & Sicilian Avenue which both have a number of eateries so I'd check out that area unless you're loaded or you don't mind your company picking up the bill!

Was hot in the summer, no air con in the room, but still had a comfortable stay! Clean, comfortable, amazing location, nicely decorated with cute features, very helpful staff, great price, highly recommended.

The Clarendon is one of many "boutique hotels" in a whole block of hotels. It was very nice, and the staff was very kind to us. We had a toddler and they provided us with a "baby cot" (i.e., pack 'n' play) and a room upgrade, as the room we booked was way to small for the cot. The rooms were very nice! Our only problem with the hotel itself was the very narrow hallways and only one lift (elevator) for the whole building, but those problems are minimal. The location was fantastic, near shops, restaurants, a tube stop, a park with playground, and the British Museum, among other things. Would definitely stay there again!

Good location. Clean. Friendly and helpful staff. We were put in a basement room, and because it was so close to the street, the room was very noisy. Would highly recommend that you request a room on upper floors.

the best thing about this hotel is the amazing staff the worst thing is the small room without AC overall the hotel was a good stay good location, convenient to the tube station again, the staff (particurally the "bell-boys", we loved them!!!

The Clarendon Hotel was much better than I expected ; the room was very spacious ( though I was inexplicably upgraded to an executive double ) and very clean not to mention quiet. The staff were friendly and efficient and as it was 5 mins walk from my destination it couldn't have been more convenient. I thought the rate was a little high especially as it was without breakfast ( payable at an extremely high price ) but overall I had no complaints. I would return.

Recently stayed in a "family" room at the Clarendon Hotel - impressively large for a London hotel, with a king-sized bed and full-sized sleeper sofa and room to walk around; however, there was hardly any dresser/drawer place for clothes, just the closet and some bedside tables with small drawers. This is one of the Grange Hotel chain (they have several in a row on Bedford Place in Bloomsbury) - overall a step above many of the smaller hotels in the area, reasonably priced (especially considering how expensive London is these days) and a terrific location, but recommendation is tempered by the fact that they charged 10 pounds/day for wi-fi, breakfast was extra and absurdly expensive, 17.50 pounds for a Continental breakfast (don't bother, as there are lots of small and reasonably-priced places in the area), and it seemed nearly every other service came with a price.

Perfect location for our overnight stay in London. Room was in basement but still bright. Nice shower and comfortable bed. Service was great and they had no problem keeping our bags while we went sightseeing. Good location and only a short distance to Covent Garden.

The Clarendon hotel is very close to British Museum and just few minutes walk from underground station. Our room was kind of small one, but clean and cozy. Breakfast was not included and was quite costly if you decide to have it in the hotel. It's a very good choice if you are in London for few days as a tourist and use the hotel just to sleep.

Unbelievable value for money! The hotel was clean, comfortable and cosy. The staff were excellent. Its one of the few hotels in London that I would be happy to spend a couple of nights in. Sadly, the food was awful. The beef in the stronganoff was as tough as old boots and the yogurt desert was poor. If they spent just a little more on quality ingredients I think it would be fine. However, there are so many restaurants around so it would not deter me in the future

We stayed at the hotel to see a show in London. The Hotel was clean and well decorated and the room was comfortable. Would stay again.

Good location for to the underground saves money on taxis. If you like walking ideal for any sights or shopping in london.

The hotel was great value and a much higher standard than we expected for what we had paid. Clean very quiet and a high room standard But due to our travel plans we did not use any of the hotel facilities so can not comment on the food etc. We were flying from Heathrow to New York at 1pm so we decided to stay in central london the day before sooner than a Hotel closer to the airport and we a glad we did. We will be using this hotel again and are happy to recomend it

Absolutely wonderful hotel and staff. I cannot fault any part of it in any way and thats before I paid the bill. The value is amazing to be so close to the West End and not get your wallet ripped to pieces. Will definitely visit again.

We stayed at the Clarendon for two nights while in London to visit the British Museum, shop in the West End and take in a football match at Arsenal. We had a great stay, the rooms were of a very high standard and the staff very helpful and friendly. We will definitely use the Clarendon next time we visit the West End of London

My wife and I return to this hotel whenever we need a base in this part of town. Good predictable service and good value for money compared to its near neighbours - although I expect most of the Grange Hotels would offer a similar package.

The Clarendon was well worth the room rate. We did not have breakfast there but was avaliable at £17.95 for continental and £25.00 for full English. The whole hotel was very clean and tidy, and the bedroom was very comfortable. Would definatly consider staying again

Room very small but comfortable enough; double bed, desk, flat screen TV and small closet. Bathroom fine. All in all, everything was clean and tidy though the nets in the window of our room needed a wash. Reception and bar area was pleasant and clean. Staff all very friendly and polite. The best thing about this hotel is the location, just a few yards from a park and 5 mins from Holborn tube station. At a discounted rate, you could do a lot worse than stay here. It served as a good place to sleep but i wouldn't recommend it for a stay if you were planning to spend a significant amount of time in the hotel or room. The exterior of the hotel looks contemporary but inside it feels 'old english' in style. If they spent some money modernising the rooms, it'd turn a good hotel into a great one.

This was the largest room I have ever had in London -- huge and comfortable. The location is wonderful -- 2 blocks from the British Museum and 10 minutes from Holborn Tube stop. No free Internet anywhere in the place, though.

We initially we given a room on the basement level of the hotel. That room was extremely warm. After one night, we requested a new room. We received a new room on the 2nd floor that was cooler, quieter, and larger.

I booked a double room and was quite surprised at the spaciousness of the room. And the bathroom was stunning! It was more than what I expected and thoroughly enjoyed my stay :)

The staff are pleasant, the rooms are clean, it's very good value. I will probably go back.

Wir hatten ein Superior Doppelzimmer reserviert und als wir ankamen erwartete uns ein Zimmer so gross wie eine Abstellkammer. Alle Angaben aus der Beschreibung im Internet haben nicht gestimmt,ausser die Lage, die ist wirklich sehr zentral. Es is sehr laut im Zimmer,da das Hotel sehr alt ist und man hört alles aus den Nachbarzimmern. Wir gehen auf jedenfall nie wieder in dieses Hotel.
