Great, quiet location, and an absolutely giant room (300 sq ft). The bed was not that comfortable and breakfast is insanely expensive, but it's walking distance from Covent Garden/Leicester Square and around the corner from the British Museum. For the location, the price can't be beat.

Excellent smallish hotel, close to, within walking distance, the British Musuem and the Westend [Theatreland]. Happy to reccommend!

Grossly overpriced,needs totally repainted,no wifi and no en suite toilet.

there is a sink and shower in each room, but not toilet! Why? There is no lift either. For the price that is OK, but they should make it clearer in the info. Other than that everyone was very helpful and the rooms good.

This hotel put me right where I wanted to be, close to the British Museum. It is a neat and ships-shape place with shower and sink in the room and a toilet down the hall. The staff was excellent and surrounding restaurants were fish and chippy.

The Worst Hotel Ever!!!

I booked at the Lancaster because of its location (3 min. walk from where I was working for three days). It's also, literally, down the street from the British museum and within easy walking distance of Bloomsbury/Soho/Covent Garden bars, restaurants, and shopping. However, I wasn't there to shop or party - so I might be less critical of this hotel if I were. The staff was friendly and efficient (though somewhat uninterested/clueless in my query about streets where I could find good food). The room was perfectly clean and quiet, though there are no toilets in the rooms, just sink and shower. What really irked me was that there was no wireless access (not even the kind you pay for). That's basically a deal-breaker for me. I was told that I might be able to get a connection in the tiny lobby (using the neighboring hotel's wireless) for nearly $15/day. I skipped breakfast, as it was over $20. There's plenty of places nearby to eat.

The company booked the hotel via the web,excellent response and confirmation process. However, up on arriving at the hotel the room booked was not the one I stayed in.Due to an IT error the booking of the room (Queen sized bed) ended being a single bed, not good. However, when taken to task an up grade on the next visit was offered. I am not sure this will be available either and look forward to testing this out.

The location of this hotel is very convenient, close to tube stops Holborn and Russell Square. Walking distance from Leicester Square and Picadilly Circus. However, the hotel has shared bathrooms, no wi-fi and charges for internet use in the lobby.

Quiet and clean but we were on the third floor and there are no lifts in the building. Room nice and clean with en suite shower but no en suite loo. All floors seem to have six loos (3 male & 3 female) at the back of the building for communal use by the rooms (12) on that floor. All very clean though. Breakfast a little expensive but we went out to nearby cafe which was very good and a third of the price.

Not a great hotel, ok for the price. None of our party had a room with a toilet. Each room also had a shower stuck in the corner of the bedroom? Very strange showering in front of friends in the morning!

Basic hotel but good location.

The hotel was located in city center and was very clean. This is outstanding. The lack of a elevator and shared toilets were a inconvience. Especially when you are on the 3rd floor. I would stay there again but insist on first floor room.

I don't mind hostels at all but on this stay I'd not planned on being in a hostel. The positives: the bed was comfortable, the front desk attendants tried, I was given a room with a bathroom in it, which was a nice surprise. The negatives: this hotel involves shared baths, the bed blankets are those very pilly sort of fleece ones (I find them to be disgusting. I prefer a clean sheet next to my body. The sheets were clean, but the blanket was not wrapped in a sheet), no fridge in room, despite the implication in the listing, the furniture in the room should have been thrown away or refurbished with new pads and stuffing years ago. Just expect a 2-star hotel and you'll probably find this acceptable. Personally, I'd stay in a good, clean hostel before I'd stay here again.

The unadvertised( as far as I can see) lack of ensuite facilities - namely a lavatory was unexpected and unwelcome!

if you are happy with communal toilets this hotel is fine. there was nothing in the hotel description that mentioned this and i would not have stayed here if i had known. apart from that hotel ok

Convenient and attractive location near British Museum and 10 min walk to the west end. Situated in a quiet street where several other hotels from the Grange group also stand. Only issue we had was that the standard room has no bathroom- instead a shower cubicle right in the corner of the room... Not much privacy and have to step from shower onto the carpet, bit odd! Otherwise, great!

Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel has a great location - walking distance between two stops on the Piccadilly Line, making access to Heathrow and Leicester Square extremely easy. We even walked from Piccadilly back to the hotel and it wasn't terribly far. There are also many park and squares blocks from this location. The hotel was very clean and the room was huge! There was a lot of space, but part of that may have been because the bathroom situation was unique - toilets are shared with the floor. The shower and sink are in room, but the shower has no privacy with its glass door. If you are sharing the room with friends/family be prepared for some awkward moments with the shower situation. Great location, great English rooms. Recommended here.

The second we walked into the hotel, the heat is cranked way up. We went in March of 2011, and it was extremely uncomfortable with the heat. Then the receptionist told us that they got our reservation but it's not showing up in their computer system (?). We waited for 15 minutes while she's trying to figure it out. There was no wifi and the internet was charged at a ridiculous price in the hotel lobby. There are also no elevators. So if you're unlucky and happen to be on the second floor (which is two sets of stairs up), you will have to haul your suitcase up yourself (and mine happened to be quite big). The second we walked into our room, we realized there is no toilet. There is a common shared toilet for the floor and it was disgusting. There was pee everywhere, and no hand soap either. I would never ever go back to this hotel.

It was my fault. I should have looked more closely at the room description. However, at the price I was paying for room only I did expect en suite facilities. A slight hiccup with my booking - they could not find my reservation for quite some time and only a phone call to Hotels.com convinced them that it was there! That said it was quiet (no bar) and clean.

The room was very clean and comfortable. Staff were always willing to help however they could. Great location, 2 minute walk from the underground and the British Museum. The one thing that thre me off was there wasn't a bathroom in the room. There was a shower cubicle and sink in the room, but the toilets were shared. Although, the toilet "stalls" were very large, very clean and has its own basin. I didn't mind the shower, sink toilet set up so it wasn't a problem. Also, there are tea and coffee facilities, they are hidden away in a drawer on the wall.

The hotel is at a good location, very central but location was the only positive. When I checked in I had to get to the 3rd floor with my luggage(no lifts). The room had no bathroom and in fact all rooms was what they described as 'semi-en suite' shower in the room, but no bathroom. That's shared. Never expected that at a hotel rated 3*. I had to pay additional charge to be put in an en suite room (about 40% more), which was on the basement. My basement room was hot (no air con) and very noisy. The room was facing a busy street and also admin offices are at the basement and I was woken up by their noisy conversations first thing on Saturday morning. The hotel is not well maintained and wear and tear is obvious everywhere as soon as go go past reception. My advice: avoid it if you can.

A great location, 10 mins walk to the tube and in a very green, safe location in Bloomsbury close to 2 parks. Our only disappointment was that the hotel had no lift - our room was on the third floor & the flights were steep- and it was incredibly hot. Although the room had a fan, it's position at the top of the hotel and the lack of air conditioning left it unbearable in the summer. The room was noticeably hotter than the corridors and bathrooms and was uncomfortable to sleep in. However, the quality and location was so good I would visit again but ask for a room on the ground floor!

Very expensive,tiny rooms, no air conditioning,no fan, breakfast outrageously expensive. Corridor floors and bedroom floors have loud creaking floorboards and noisy doors. Some staff are excellent while others do not have a care in the world. We would never stay with this chain again nor recommend them to anyone.

the room had a shower and wash basin but the toliet was at the other end of the corridor. Remarkable when there was more than enough space to fit the toilet in the room. Eveything else was great, location, service etc

Hotellet låg centralt och bra, gångavstånd till Covent Garden och Oxford street. Sköna sängar och stort rum. Toalett i korridor var inga problem. Ett klassiskt engelskt hotell med lite sviktande golv men ändå charmigt.

Rent och fint hotell för priset och det ligger även centralt! Kan absolut tänka mig att bo här igen!

全体にこぎれいなホテルですが、何とトイレは共同。なぜそれを書いてないのか、その点はしっかり書くべき。書いてあったら泊まらなかったと思います。共同のわりには清潔で近代的なトイレでした。夜中にいつでもトイレにいけるよう外出着で寝ていました。また、部屋の片隅にガラスでしきったシャワーブースしかなく、友達と二人の滞在だったためどこで脱いだらいいものか困りました。ガラスの上が空いていて、湯気がもくもくと室内に。さらにエレベーターもありませんでしたので重いトランクを運ぶのが大変でしたし、加えて自分がめまいがしているのかわからなくなったほど部屋の床が傾いていました。しかし!!それらを帳消しにするぐらい、フロントの対応が親切。特にハンガリーのブタペスト出身というフロント女性が早朝発の私たちに最適な時間のモーニングコールとタクシーの手配をしてくれたお蔭で、こんなホテルに泊まったにもかかわらずロンドン好きになりました。外国人が日本に来て安い畳の旅館に泊まるのが理解可能に。今は使われていない暖炉の痕跡を見ながら「昔のロンドンっ子はこんな所に住んでいたのだろうか?日本のアパートも昔は便所は共同だったし・・」など思いを馳せるにはとても楽しいホテル。ただし普通の旅行者や恋人同士にはお勧めしません。大英博物館はすぐそこです。

Prettig hotel, vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel, ruime kamer . Rustig gelegen . Douche op de kamer maar toilet op de gang. Wij hebben onze medebewoners daar echter helemaal niet gezien. Zelfs nu was de kamer erg warm . Voor echte zomerdagen staat er een fan maar of die voldoende is? Ontbijt matig .

Havde forventet at et centralt beliggende hotel i London ville være lidt usselt, men det er dette hotel slet ikke! Vi havde et rummeligt, rent og hyggelig værelse med alt, hvad man kan have brug for - håndklæder, toiletartikler, føntørrer, elkedel m. kaffe/thebreve. Ja, toilettet var på gangen, men det var pinligt rent og vi så aldrig andre bruge det. Bruser og håndvask på værelset. 5 min gang til Oxford street og ca. 15 min gang til Soho eller Convent Garden, hvor det er hyggeligt at være om aftenen. Jeg kan helt klart anbefale hotellet.

Hotel de bon standing proche British museum. Chambre Cosy et confortable. Les toilettes sont sur le palier mais sont tres clean. seul point noir, le prix du petit dejeuner... preferer un petit dej à l'exterieur tout pret.
