200m from the train Station. Very clean and recently renovated room. Friendly staff. Very close to Place de Comedie and many local restaurants. We will return!

For U.S. travelers, they need to make sure they ask for a room with a shower wall or curtain. The hotel has a removable hand held shower head. Taking a shower sitting down is a bit strange. Location of the hotel, to public transportation and shopping and restaurants, is very good.

Clean, but aging and unremarkable hotel in a badly aging and unremarkable city. The hotel rate is too expensive for what is on offer. The same goes for the poor and overpriced breakfast buffet. Reception is professional and even friendly. In the pedestrian zone, so no close access with car. Parking in nearest public garages (10-15 min walk with suitcases on broken sidewalks).

We booked this hotel for its location as we were arriving late at night from Valencia, Spain. A very good choice too, as it's just about two blocks up from the train station! We were also a bit hungry and asked the friendly gentleman at checkin for a suggestion - though the restaurant he recommended was closed/on vacation, we found a delightful small bistro nearby named Art Mango Cafe. The Petit Dejeuner at the hotel (at 7.58Euro/pp) is well worth the price and we partook of its offerings all 3 days we were at the Royal. Montpellier itself is delightful: the city is easy to get around and its' citizens friendly. Wonderful restaurant choices (try Sheridan for lunch) with good pastries (just accross the way from the Royal). We imagine this city to be like a mini-Paris.

The room was great, everything was close by.

Really happy with the hotel. Location and staff were great. Only negative comments were that there is no tea/coffee making facility in the room which I would have expected in this type of hotel. There is a hot water fountain on the first floor so if you have your own cups ect you can make tea but it is a bit of a torture walking round the hotel with boiling water! The air conditioning must be set very low because on the warm nights the room got uncomfortably hot. But this was only on two of the five nights we stayed here. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

Stayed in Montpellier just for one night whilst travelling. Ideal location, about a 3 minute walk to the train station. Room was very clean and comfortable. There was no stand up shower in the bathroom however the bathtub which was in the was lovely! Best bath I've ever had ha. Just a couple of minutes walk to bars and restaurants. No complaints, would definitely recommend this hotel!

We stayed just one night at the Royal Hotel. Despite staying on the ground floor we were very pleased with the room which had been newly decorated. As the hotel is in the centre of Montpellier, you should not expect great views, but the location is excellent - only 2 min walk from one of the central squares and perfectly connected to both trams and bus which stop on the street the hotel is located on. The breakfast buffet wasn't the most impressive we have seen, but due to the hotel's great location you can easily find perfect coffee and croissants only 5 mins walk away.

Wonderful convenient position between station and Place de la Comedie, with excellent access on foot to old town and shopping mall; Corum concert halls also within walking distance. Cafes, restaurants and Monoprix supermarket very close by. Pleasant helpful service. Our early morning call came in both English and French. Quality television set and good WiFi connection. Our bicycles were able to be safely stored in a locked room.

This hotel is incredibly convenient. About 200m from the main Railway Station in Montpellier in the traffic free zone. The trams go right past the door but everything is within reasonable walking distance anyway. Our room was very big with 2 double beds (twin room - but an executive twin I think). The bathroom was also large and the staff were helpful. Lots of cafes and sandwich shops nearby and great access to both the historical and shopping parts of town ... all car free.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean and very quite, and the location could have not been better. The only thing that could have been better was the bed. It was a bit on the lumpy side but all in all we slept great and had a wonderful stay.

This is a very nice hotel right up the street from the rail station, and only 100 yards from the center of the old downtown.

The hotel is only 100 yards from Place de la Comedie, the heart of the pedestrian old town. Trams run by the hotel. It could not be a better spot, particularly as the more expensive hotels are in the newer (but very attractive) area further from the centre. The furnishings are old fashioned but the room immaculately clean and the bed very comfy.Large screen TV. The local bus service has an airport shuttle cost only £1.50, the same price as the bus to the coast.

Literally a 3 minute walk up the main road from the train station! it city centre is another 2 minute walk up the same road - go to the crepe place in the main square!.....amazing! We were two Canadain girls staying for one day and we can't WAIT to go back to montpellier. we didn't really know what to do with our time and the woman at the desk was SO awesome and helpful - she even invited us to some beach yolleyball to watch her friends! beautiful hotel and city.....seriously going back! :)

I reserved the Royal on purely on price and location... we needed to stay the night between trains. We were pleasantly surprised that the guy working the desk was very helpful with suggestions about having a nice dinner, and the room was large and comfortable. This was one of the biggest bathrooms we had in Europe, though the lack of shower curtain meant we had to sit in the tub and rinse off carefully with the hand-held shower to keep from getting water everywhere. The beds were quite comfortable, with a just-right level of firmness that was very pleasing after a travel day.

The hotel have just renovated their bathroom and it ws such a nice result. Very good location 30 meters away from the Montpellier Roch train station, just have to walk to the hotel and there is a nearby malll and the Comedie square just 50 meters away. Great place...

We stayed twice at the Royale and found it just fitted our needs. It was clean, well furnished and the bathrooms were excellent. The main plus was its closeness to the centre - a few minutes to the main sqare, the tram and all the cafes where we had breakfast for 4.5 euros at the cafe du Theatre at a sunny table every morning and delicious evening meals at the cafe Riche every evening. The first room we had was comfortable but not large and overlooked some rather run down but quiet back streets. The TV was old but we were able to get BBC World News easily. The bed was comfortable but just normal double bed size. The second room we stayed in on our return was really nice (207). It looked onto a quiet inner courtyard, had a wonderful bathroom and a modern TV. The hotel was generally quiet and we slept well. There was hot water on the first floor for drinks but it was intermittent so we used our travel kettle and tea bags. There is a Monoprix just 2 minutes up the road (left out of the hotel to the square) and we got little bottles of milk and teabags there. It was all very easy. The only problem we had in Montpellier itself was with the groups of boy beggars who rig the tram ticket machines in the sqare by putting a small coin in it so that it won't work when you put your money in. They then come and 'help' you and beg money.

If you want to stay in a central location this hotel is a must for you. It is located in a main street lined with huge palm trees off La Place de la Comedie which is the centre of Montpellier. Two minutes walk from bus and tram stops, 4 minutes walk from the railway station. All staff were helpful and friendly and reception staff spoke both French and English. The hotel decor is rather dated, slightly shabby and a bit dark, but they are in the process of redecorating some of the rooms. Saying that everywhere was spotlessly clean as was the bedding and towels. The only downside was that the nicely appointed bathroom did smell of drains at times. Our room was situated at the back of the hotel and in all honesty we did not have the best of views - but it was great for people watching and we were out for most of the day. It was a good size and the beds were very comfortable! We intended going out for breakfast each day but after sampling the breakfast at a cost of 8 euros each we breakfasted at the hotel each morning. Only a continental breakfast is offered between 0700 and 1030 but there was plenty on offer, you could have as much as you wished and could take your time. There are hundreds of places to eat out in Montpellier and it was pretty reasonable. We mostly sampled the 'formule' meals - set menus with wine for varying prices. Very good value. Montpellier itself has some stunning architecture which is sadly spoiled by graffiti and vandalism - I have never seen so much graffiti in all my life! However there is a very cosmopolitan atmosphere and the city has a great buzz. If you visit - stay at Hotel Royal - value for money and a great location.

The Hotel Royal is very conveniently situated in the very heart of Montpellier. It is very close to the railway station and tram stops and there is parking underground at Comedie, a short step away. We did not avail of the breakfast facilities so cannot comment on them but otherwise it is an inexpensive and no-frills hotel. We have stayed there twice and would reccomend it.

Did not receive the scheduled wake up call. Reception said he saw the call placed, but phone did not ring in the room. I was up anyway and hence did not miss my train. Bring an alarm clock to this hotel. Location near train station very helpful for late arrivals and early departures.

Just off the old centre of town, close to the station. We only stayed overnight but it was probably the best night of the holiday, the staff were all helpful and pleasant, a nice room with excellent facilities, though it was strange that the TV had BBC news in the evening but not the next morning! Located where it is, there seemed to be plenty of choice around when it came to eating. We ate at L'Entrecote, just up at the top of the hill, superb, though if you have never visited one check the menu before entering, if you don't eat beef your going hungry! We are in France for Christmas and will definately be going out of our way to stay a couple of nights here as an extra treat!

This hotel is in a great location: a short walk from the train station, plenty of places to eat right outside the hotel doors. Friendly, courteous, multilingual staff. It may be important to note that there is no mini fridge in the room so if you're like me and like to grab a six pack to throw in the fridge, you're out of luck. Also, there is no in room safe, though a few safes are provided in the downstairs lobby area. Not a huge deal, we just locked our stuff up there during the day and took it in the room with us at night.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Close to the train station and the place de comedie. The room was good sized with a very nice newly remodeled bathroom. The hotel was clean and felt secure.

I had a bad experience in Montpellier with the Ibis Centre- heat instead of AC that would not turn off, bad service, tiny room, very loud. The Royale was quiet, had working AC, lots of space, was more central, and good staff. Strangely they decided to repaint my room one day but that didn't disturb me too much.

The hotel was in a perfect location, right near a center square. Also, the room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel for travelers to Montpellier.

We would highly recommend this hotel - great location, handy to the train station and city centre. Breakfast was superb. Our room overlooked the street so we were able to enjoy the view and watch the activity.

Very impressed with the level of service on our first visit to the hotel - the gentleman on reception couldn't do enough for us and the room was air conditioned (it was very hot so this was very much needed) and a nice size. On the second visit, a different gentleman served us who was polite but unhelpful. the room was smaller, and the air conditioning less effective. If this had been our first experience we would have been less impressed. All ratings based on first visit...

Great value for the price - clean, smart, quiet, seriously comfy beds. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Well located for the trams, station and tourist information, walking distance from pretty much everything you'd want to see (although not that hard in somewhere as small as Montpellier!) Would definitely go back.

We found the hotel to be perfect for our needs. It was central,close to everything and we finally found the parking underground for which the hotel had special rates. It was clean and staff were very helpful, would rcommend to anyone.

The Hotel itself is good, but the Montpellier city is dirty and there's no tourist attraction.

Tres bon Hôtel, demander de préférence une chambre sur la cour, à cause des nuissances nocturnes des jeunes alcoolisés.

^proche de la gare, où convergent les lignes de tramway, et du centre historique, il est très bien placé. L'accueil fut très agréable puisqu'il me fut proposé, dès mon arrivée vers 10 heures d'occuper ma chambre, sans supplément de prix. La chambre est très propre et la salle de bains pratique et agréable. Le petit déjeuner est très copieux Bref deux nuitées très agréables

Wir waren mit dem Royal-Hotel sehr zufrieden. Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist sehr gut. Zudem befindet sich das Hotel an ausgezeichneter Lage für Stadtbummler.

hotel proche du centre ville possibilité de faire toutes démarches soit du tourisme ou autre peut etre un peu bruyant mais on est dans le coeur de la ville!!!!! je pense en citant ces buts est le meilleur atout pour son implantation.Accueil tres chaleureux personnel tres a l'ecoute de nos demandes Merci!!!

場所もホテルも良かったです。空港からはタクシーで15分、20ユーロ程度。 ただし、wifiネット接続があまり安定せずに苦労しました。有線での接続は出来ません。

Hôtel bien Situé avec accès tram proche mais pas de parking proche. Acceuil sympa Chambre confortable, un peu vétuste malgré tout. Oreillers de qualité médiocre , gare aux cervicales. Salle de bain de qualité mais équipement accessoire wc absent ! Arrivée d'eau chaude compliquee et ouverture fermeture salle de bain difficile car pas de poignee et porte coulissante. Enfin la taxe de séjour de 1 euros par personne pourrait être offerte au lieu d'être réclamée en fin de séjour , cela fait pingre .

Nel complesso e in considerazione del prezzo può certamente andar bene per alloggiare senza troppe pretese.

En plein cœur de Montpellier, tout près de la gare mais très calme, Hôtel à taille humaine, très propre, accueil chaleureux et sympathique, petit déjeuner très copieux et très varié. Je vous le conseille vivement, dès que je retourne à Montpellier je choisirai à nouveau cet hôtel.

Nous avons beaucoup apprécié cet hotel, la chambre était très belle, la salle de bains toute neuve et propre, la localisation formidable!

situation idéale chambre très propre et beaucoup de confort la salle de bain en revanche usée (émail baignoire abimé) peu chauffée et propreté limite à l'arrivée, pas de problèmes les jours suivants accueil très agréable

Bon accueil et séjour agréable;isiège très pratique, central et proche de la gare et du tram; personnel très disponible.

Das Hotel ist super gelegen, direkt unterhalb des Place Comedie. Die Zimmer sind zum Teil ein wenig alt und muffig, aber mit ab und zu offenen Fenstern völlig ok. Das Bad alt, aber sehr schön. Frühstücksbuffet lohnt sich vom Preis her. Empfehlenswert für Städtetrips.
