Can't fault the hotel at all Staff were brilliant always wearing a smile from 9 in the morning till late at night Rooms were brilliant Shower was probably the best I have ever had Would recommend to all of my friends

Really Good Hotel right on the lake. Nice decor, great staff and a 10 minute walk into Ambleside Centre. Breakfast was superb with the added bonus that you can have it until 12:00; so when the weather is bad, you can have a much needed sleep in first!!

Great value hotel offering great service and a top restaurant. Breakfasts are outstanding.

Excellent Location in lovely surroundings. Very comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff. Good food and service. Plenty of parking facilities. Thoroughly enjoyable stay and very likely to stay again. Certain areas did need some redecoration.

The hotel was right on the lake and within walking distance of the shops and restaurants in Ambleside. The room was comfortable, clean and had nice decor. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and there was quite a range to choose from all included in the price if you are bed and breakfast. Nice romantic getaway!

I was charmed being on the edge of lake windermere, and the surrounding views of the mountains made the location lovely, the room was comfortable, clean and well maintained. the breakfast in the mornings was something i relished! and can recommend the kippers, the hotel is obviously situated in the middle of the lakes so is convenient for surrounding visits for walks and other activities. and would not hesitate to go back.

A great location for exploring the lakes, whetehre by foot or car. Hotel was comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The great plus is the relaxed breakfast which is served from 08 00 to 12 00. Splendid selection of dishes (I recommend the kippers). So you can lie in or have an early morning walk. Dinner however was a bit more rushed. The food was good in quality and price but our main course arrived as we were only just finishing our starter. That aside I recommend the Regent as a splendid place to stay to enjoy the Lake district.

I have to say this was one of the best hotels i've ever stayed in, and really think it should be classed higher then a 3 star! We had the sail loft room, with its own private decking area overlooking lake windermere. It was absolutely beautiful and i just wish i had been able to stay for longer. The room was stunning, and the service even better. We'd go to the bar to order some drinks and they would deliver them direct to us on the decking area of our room - i've never had service like this before. The girls who worked reception and the restaurant were the friendliest i've ever met and really couldn't do more for you. I just cant wait to get back to the Lake District to stay there again!!

Really nice, clean, comfortable, spacious bedrooms (we had one of the 'garden rooms'). Good breakfast. Good location.

Restorant waiters fantastic, very friendly.It will be very hard to replace them one day if they ever leave.Keep smiling girls I know its a very hard job.

ideal postion for leaving the car on the car park and walking easy access to the center of ambleside without being inn the bustle of the town lot of walks start from this hotel pier just across the road to access other places lovely lakeside view modern decor rooms bed not as comfortable as the one at home but still after walking inthe fresh air all day not much rocking needed only had breakfast at hotel which was very nice good choice served till 12o'clock only down side currently there is ongoing work to extend the front of the hotel our room was on the front so mon tues morninng there was no chance of a lie in this will probably be finished within the next 3-4 weeks

the stay of three days was very relaxing despite the fact that the whole area was covered with deep snow. The main roads were clear. The hotel was very warm both in the bedrooms and the public rooms. The staff were also very helpful. The position adjacent to the lake steamers was good and we did not need to use the car.Ambleside centre is also very accessable on foot.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel, location opposite the lake windermere was a lovely view. A 15 min walk to ambleside village and onto the local waterfalls was enjoyable despite the weather. We had dinner and the hotel and could honestly not fault the attentive service. Overall we found this place really enjoyable - though not a lot to do, we found it to be relaxing.

Lake house very warm and welcoming.Friendly staff excellent food what more can you ask for.

Lovely Hotel and location very clean and food was excellent but lacking in atmosphere and an informal bar to socialise in with other guests. The meals would have been more enjoyable if the service had not been so rushed, the time between courses would be a bonus.

Hard to find fault here. The location was excellent, just a few yards from the lakeside and the piers where the boat trips began. The room was very good, comfortable and clean and the staff were helpful and friendly. We didn't really spend a lot of time in the hotel, just daily breakfast which was excellent. We didn't dine there so cannot comment on the restaurant. We spent four nights there and would definitely recommend it.

we booked a double room with bath and found they only had room with shower available. As we are both disabled this was pretty useless. We were not happy

excellent breakfasts, great quality food and choice, and fantastic to be able to have breakfast up to 12.00, allows for a walk to build appetitie! we stayed in a garden room, spacious and comfortable, good location and great service.

My husband and I spent 3 days at The Regent on the Lake in July 2010 and found it to be a wonderful place to stay if you want to tour the Lake District. We were given one of the garden rooms behind the hotel which was very pretty and beautifully decorated - there was even a little balcony with a table and chairs to sit and enjoy a coffee in the sunshine. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were lovely, so much choice. We would definately go there again.

The hotel is yards away from the waterfront at the north end of Windermere. Ambleside itself is about a mile away. The hotel is very comfortable with good service. We ate in at the evening as there wasn't much suitable choice in walking distance. The food is imaginative and good, if a little expensive. The staff were always willing to help. I would have no hesitation in going back tot this hotel. That this hotel had several guests is a testimony to its popularity.

This hotel is in the perfect location, is immaculately clean with pleasant hardworking staff. The food, especially the evening meal was outstanding,one o the bet meals I've ever had...wonderful. The communal lounges were comfortable and relaxing. I would definately return and reccommend to others.

We had a great stay, the hotel location was wonderful but we weren't sure the wiring of the lights was very clever, there were three banks of switches which had to be operated in various ways to make (all) the lights come or off, aside from this dleight t'was a good place to be with nice staff

Very nice hotel boasting excellent food. We had dinner in the restaurant which was very good and a lovely breakfast the following morning. Service was attentive and efficient. Our only gripe was that because we had a small room with a sloping ceiling (room 18) there was insufficient space for a stand up shower. Consequently a shower had to be taken whilst sitting or kneeling in the bath! Apart from that we really enjoyed our stay.

Stayred in a superior room - well worth the extra. Rooms not in hotel so be aware that you may get wet going to breakfast. Initially bathroom could do with seal cleaning and replacing and floor in bathroom needs scrubbing but the hotel was VERY good. Breakfast excellent. Bar and restaurant staff very helpfull. Good location, across the road from the lake - 15 mins walk to Ambleside Town centre where there are lots of bars and restaurants. Indoor pool very small - did not venture in. Would recommend and would go back.
