Rooms are dated and property is dirty. But I wanted a cheap place to sleep and it fulfilled that

Staff was very unprofessional. And I did not feel completely safe there.

The rooms weren't bad just didn't feel clean at all. We thought it would be walking distance to the boardwalk but it wasn't . Also in a sketchy part of town so we didn't sleep well

When I First Got There I Was Disappointed, But The Room Grows On You. You Basically Pay For What You Get. The Hotel HaS Allot Of People Living There Permanently. The Surrounding Neighborhood Is Guetto But It Is Really Close Top The Board Walk.

When I arrived, the hotel was having problems with its wi-fi. This made my stay annoying since I only stay at hotels that have free wi-fi. They claimed that it was being fixed, because they were changing service providers. They even pointed out a man who was supposed to be the repairman, but the service did not change. The wi-fi was temperamental and often did not work. The lady behind the desk was very kind understanding and personable and she was the person who made my stay positive. I did have encounters with the owner and I could tell she just doesn't care anymore. She's tired and perhaps used to complaints. I understand her plight, but my advice is to then get out of the business. I know running a motel must be hard, but then you have to make some choices about whether you want to stay in business. My advice to the owner is to quit while she still can. In the end you get what you pay for and this place is cheap. If you can put up with spotty service and an uneven quality of rooms, then this place is worth it. I probably won't be staying there again.

Warning! Do not check-in. Unless you can handle following. Bad smells, intersecting traffic noise, dirty towels, sagging beds, dirty n noisy air fans, people smoking n talking loud outside hallway. We had to getout 1:00am, it was worst experience.

Good location.Good service.Just dirty and uncomfortable beds.

The gal that checked us in was sweet as pie and very helpful. Once we checked in we went to the beach; when we return we tried to use the free wifi that the hotel advertised but it did not work in our room. The owner/manager rudely stated that it was working in the office and that our only option was to move to a room on the opposite side of the hotel, so we decided to just go without internet. The next morning I took my service dog out to use the bathroom; I was absolutely shocked to see that the motel had no where for dogs to use the bathroom. I eventually found a bark covered area in the front of the motel that my dog could use. The owner/manager came out in her pajamas screaming that my dog could not pea there. I stormed off because at this point everything that the motel had advertised from free wifi to being pet friendly was obviously a lie just to get patrons. Upon checking out I was again confronted by the owner/manager stating that I had not registered my dog, which I had. I showed her my dogs service dog ID and informed her that the gal that checked us in knew about the dog and had seen her ID tag, so it was not my fault if she failed to note it on the chart. Needless to say I will NEVER stay at this motel again. Santa Cruz was awesome, but this motel SUCKED. PS... My feet stuck to the floor every time I took a step and the bath tub was obviously not clean.

It was disappointing. We had a great rate at another hotel, Bay Front Inn (which was a much better establishment), but I had booked the wrong night (sigh), so I had to take what I could get at the last minute - Santa Cruz Hotel. It was not at all up to our standards or expectations, although, the people running it were on the ball and sweet. It's just THE VERY BARE BONES! Two, thin, small towels & not even a washcloth. It was tiny, well-worn and cheap-feeling. I definitely wouldn't go back, although as I said, i can't fault the owner; she was efficient, competent and amiable. The only was that our room was in back and no one was on either side of us - the street and the parking lot were busy but we weren't kept up late.

One of the worst places I've stayed!

Smelled grossed! So disgusting in those rooms. Poor cleanliness. One of the rooms toilet didn't even flush?! Why would you have people stay there when the toilet doesn't even flush?!

Did not like it, there was no room & no closets, not enough towels and noisey we couldn't sleep.

The rooms are in poor condition and very small. The shower was like standing in front of a fire hose. there were cigereete butts on the ground, steps and in the hallwaystowels are worn so thin you can see though them. The TV remote had no battery door so the batteries kept falling out. I would NOT reccomend this place to my worst enemy!

We think it was ok. Just ok!!!

Price was to include breakfast which it did not.

For the price the stay was good. It would of been nice to stay another night for the same price but when I asked the lady in the office if she could give me the same rate she said the rate was higher. So we chose to not stay another night. I could not see paying anymore than what we paid to stay there.

Dirty dirty dirty. Worst sleep I've ever had due to the domestic violence in another room. Parties in the parking lot. Loud music. People coming & going at odd hours. Did I mention dirty??? We actually went to cvs & blunt a can of lysol disinfectant spray and drenched the room. Never again am I staying there let alone recommending this place to my friends & family!!!!! If I could I'd give it 0 zero stars !!!

The staff is nice but rooms are basically you get what you pay for. Not enough towels prvided and there was no breakfast included. If you are looking for a cheep place to sleep this place is ok.

The motel was pretty nice! I was there with a friend and we had a great time, no problems at all. The staff was nice too. I'd definitely stay there again.

I would rather sleep in my car and save the money..

nice location. easy access to boardwalk and other local attractions.

Still itching from bad bed bugs one week later. Not a great area, not great walking distance to anywhere, poor amenities and rooms. Felt a tad third world. Very dissappointing & WOULD NOT recommend to anyone - not even for 1 night stopover! & certainly not for any longer.

Our first room had a broken TV and was very short on space - so they gave us another room which was much roomier and the TV worked! The street was noisy outside and the beds were not very comfortable

The room was costly for what it was. I've had nicer rooms at embassy suites for the same price. The linen was a polyester blend and I itched all night. Other than the location, it's notvtgsr great of a hotel. Surrounding hotels have in room jacuzzis and cost less. Definitely staying st one of the other ones next time

The only good thing I have to say about this place is that they had a room available when we needed it. Drunk, potsmoking guests, seedy area, not so clean. Go somewhere else!

The inside was 10X worse than the outside. Just to mention a few items there was hair on the pillows, the sheets were dirty, and there was holes in the wall...ewwww, eeeewwww! Slept in my car instead!

This Hotel was way to expensive for all the horrible things about it. The people at the front desk didnt speak english. I ordered a non smoking queen room and got a smoking room with I guess you might call a queen but didnt feel like a queen felt like a full. WE walk into the room and there were covered paint spot where holes resided then walked into the bathroom lets just say you would never want to use there bathroom. There was a hole in the door and a whole in the wall where you sit on the toilet. Then in the shower there was used soap bar still in the shower so it had not been cleaned. I went to put the towel on the floor to clean up the water the dog drank from and there was makeup all over the towel and the girl who came to bring us new towels said "No its clean you put it on the floor no new towel just put on floor". Then she rolled her eyes at us when we told her about the soap in the shower and she said shower clean its just stains from shower. I did not shower in that place bugs could of came out for all I know. The room smelled so bad when we went to open the window there was no screen so people could of just came in and robbed us. It is a good thing we brought our own blankets because the ones they have had not been washed they stunk so bad it make you want to throw up. WE went to use our tv and the remote doesn't work so you have to use the buttons on the TV which I can live with but still very inconvenient. I wish I could get my money back so bad or a cheaper rate it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I would never recommend this place. The only good thing about this place is you could see the boardwalk from our side other then that it was nasty oh and they accept dogs good thing only reason why we stayed there.

bad hotel...was scared to stay there deadbolt was broken off like somebody had busted the door in...room wasnt advirtised correctly...was a dump...do not go there...i could have stayed at my other hotel for 5 dollars more but wanted to try something different ...ugh...waste of money

Well the pictures on the website do not accurately represent the room interiors, to say the least. The bed in our room must have been 20 - 30 plus years old with springs literally sticking up. No tv remote. Major overhaul is needed. Holes in the drapes. Only 2 bath towels per room. Funky and old pillows. Not even the price will bring me back to this motel. Owners - spend some money and put in some elbow grease and make your place rentable. Afterall you call it Motel Santa Cruz...Shouldn't it reflect better on the community..?

First of all make sure that u check well on the hotel. They were others hotels that I could've pick, for about twenty dollars more nd nicer.

Typical of one of those hotels--unfortunately too many these days--in which all that interests the host is getting his/her money. No effort or money put into improvement. Despite advertisement, no continental breakfast. No shampoo, no cleanex, no hand towels, rock hard single pillow. Easy to break into by removing screen.

DISGUSTING. Hair in the bed sheets, felt crusty the blanket smelled. The carpet looked filthy. The toilet seat had cracks all over it. The head board was so old and had engravings carved into it. We were there an hour looking for different hotels online. The owner yelled at me to get out that he wasnt going to give me a refund. HORRIBLE BUSINESS. extremely rude. Honestly wouldve rathered to sleep in my car for 3 nights than stay there. We got a refund through hotels.com thankfully. We stayed at the unniversity inn. SO much better highly recommend it:)

Rude people very unorganized after two days stay they moved us out of the closet they put us in and into a real room. Banging on the door before check out demanding we vacate in five minutes even though we had another night pre paid. this place sucks.

Room smelled, beding had cigarete burn holes. When asked if they had ice machine, was told yes on 2nd floor and they handed me a pastic bag, looked like what my newspaper comes in on a rainy day :( Dont waste your good $$$

The worst hotel in Santa Cruz, the sheets were durty, the bed was falling apart, and the door to the room would not close all the way. When asked for a refund they refused. NEVER NEVER USE THIS MOTEL. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL.

Our stay would have been perfect if it were not for 2 major reasons: (1) there were only 2 bath towels in the bathroom. No bath mat, no face towels, no hand towels. (2) the telephone was not working so we had to get out of the room just to talk to the front office clerk about this matter. reason: they were still doing some laundry. (3) the day clerk knocked on our door at 10am to remind us that check out time is at 11am. that was the only time they gave us extra bath towels. she didn't even offer us to stay an extra hour or so given the fact that we got to out hotel at 11pm. even so, she should have offered but nothing. she was not at all pleasant or probably having a bad day but seemed like she was we were at fault or something. really bad customer service.
