Avila La Fonda Hotel - افيلا بيتش

My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary here. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Love the location, short walk to the beach. The room is spacious and had all the amenities needed, bedding very nice and comfy. We hope to be staying here again in the future.

Pros: The room was exceptional. Beautiful interior with mood lighting, hot tub, and fire place. The room was very clean and the bed/pillows exceptionally comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff doesn't come until early afternoon so you can sleep in without being disturbed. The complementary events and accommodations were very nice, including wine tasting. Cons: It is near the beach but has no view of it, which was unfortunate. The room air conditioner is not central but modular and inside the room. They hide it pretty well with the lounge chair but it is in contrast to the feel of the room.

What a wonderful stay. Love love loved it. The amenities were spectacular. Perfect getaway

This place was amazing! Whole basket of Free snacks in the room, fresh crossaints, cookies, coffee. Great spa tub in room. Will stay here over and over again. Avila is a cool little town

There were were many exceptional things about Avila La Fonda Hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel staff baked and served homemade pies in the evening and smells of the baking pies wafting throughout the hotel was lovely. The room was very spacious, clean and had a full size coffee maker and also coffee beans. The shower was huge with multiple heads. A few disappointments, the carpet in the room was clean but stained and needed replacing. The view was not great. Overall it was fantastic and given the price quite exceptional.

Hotel and area were great! Staff was VERY friendly just like all the people in the area. Complimentary and honor system ammenities make you feel at home or staying with family. Would definitely go back!!

The smell of chocolate croissants baking in the oven floods the sidewalks of Avila beach as it seeps through the grand, 12 foot doors of the la Fonda. If you are looking for something special, this is the place! I will let the photos of the property speak for themselves, and if that looks inviting, the service, atmosphere, and cleanliness will surely make this the obvious choice for you.

Very nice Tuscany design with a kitchen. This was a gettaway. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Restaurants just up the street and past that the beach. Mineral baths just up the road. This is the Gettaway place. They don't ding you but a quarter for water and snacks are all at cost. Room was modern. Only problem was I couldn't get some light bulbs put in so areas were dark at times. No worries with the Murphy bed and it was comfortable. No View but a block to the beach.

What a perfect place for a stay cation. Whiles its not right on the beach, it is only a one block walk to the pier and great restaurants. The place is small and the staff really give you the VIP treatment. The wine and snacks were great. We didn't get to sample the hot pies but I know they were great too. The room was amazing as well. Really comfortable bed and the staff did some extras to make the room really romantic. They added a few dozen candles and spread rose pedals all over the place. I really can't say enough about how awesome this little place is. 100% luxurious and perfect.

Great overnight stay. Loved the big jacuzzi tub in the room. Only one block from the beach. Great, friendly staff. Would come back again!

I've stayed in many hotels in my life- this one easily win's as the best hotel experience ever. The label "hotel" doesn't really apply, its more like going to visit a well to do uncle with a nice hacienda. You feel like an honored guest and immediately at home. The staff is superb. A hundred other little perks add up and together make for an incredibly memorable and comfortable stay. I can go on and on here. Bottom line- you'll love it and remember it for years to come. Circumstance had me stay at a Holiday Inn Express the next day (for about the same price)-boring, cold, corporate - no comparison is even possible to the amazing Avila La Fonda. -M. Garcia

Great value. Location is perfect. Manager's reception is great. Snacks at cost policy is great. Cool decor, very SoCal beach. Bed is only medium quality. Very nice staff.

What a quaint little hotel in a secluded little beachfront community. Room was a tight squeeze for 3 with the murphy bed and pull out sofa, but the room had a full kitchenette and bath with separate shower and whirlpool tub. They provided a bunch of snacks at no charge in the room, and other snacks and drinks at hotel cost in their public kitchen (and free chocolate chip cookies around the clock!) Would be a great hotel for a weekend getaway. 1-2 blocks from the beach and pier.

Centrally located 1 block from beach helpful staff. That's where the good comments end. When we made our reservation, one of the questions asked was 'did we prefer a sleep sofa or a Murphy Bed?'. I assumed they meant for additional guests. Surprise, they meant as the main sleeping accomodation!! But not to worry, they have a turndown service every night . A staff member comes up, moves a couch aside, moves an armchair aside, moves a coffee table aside, proceeds to drop the Murphy Bed and then tries to decide how he is going to get out of the room. The air conditioning was provided by a portable floor unit ducted for supply air through the french doors out onto the patio. Regardless that there is not enough room on the floor for the unit. They should have provided music for the dance it required to get around the thing. Repeated reference to the instruction manual yielded no clue how to keep the unit running. Wonderful ambiance--- with two balconies you would think at least one provided some relaxing or at least an unimposing vista. Not to be. One faced a side street and the remodeling of a house. If you like sticking your head through a hole to view city construction sites, this unit is for you !! The other balcony overlooked the wonderful fountain outside the hotel and also the entrance to the underground garage and the smelly enclosure where uncollected garbage resides. (Note the misleading photo on their website). Sorry, I ramble. Draw your own conclusions.

The hotel is very cute and they have very nice touches - a welcome basket, wine tasting, etc. However, we were a little surprised when we walked into our room and noticed that the bed was the type of bed that folds up into the wall. When we got back from dinner housekeeping had taken the bed down and put chocolates on the bed (again, nice touches) but the bed was so uncomfortable and every time either of us moved the bed would make terrible noises and the other person would be disturbed. I love the hotel but if you're looking for a peaceful nights sleep this may not be the place.

The hotel was beautiful and all of the staff exceptional. The location was an easy walk to the beach, shops and restaurants. The jacuzzi was great but could have used a hand rail somewhere. The Murphy bed could have been a bit more comfortable and set a little further away from the air conditioner. But all and all plenty of extras and a very enjoyable stay.

Advertised as pet-friendly. Called hotel two weeks in advance to confirm and was told that our 13lb. yorkie was welcome. When we showed up we were told they were not pet friendly anymore and tried to move us to another room with a murphy bed. We objected vociferously and got our original room back but got charged a $50 pet fee. They got their $50 and I will be happy to run down this hotel at every opportunity. This matter was handled with complete ignorance of what it means to be in the hospitality business. By the way, was overpriced.

The hotel was great - one block back from the beach, so it misses some of the ocean views, but the service and how much was provided and included more than makes up for it. Very comfortable rooms, and we were amazed at all the complimentary goodies there too! The only thing I was surprised at was breakfast - there's no restaurant that we found, but there is a den with juice, tea and coffee all day, so we pottered down and found some enormous pain au chocolats in the morning instead. All told, loved it - really friendly and felt very at home. We recommend the Old Port restaurant at the end of the pier, too!

Very very nice hotel... The staff is amazing and take great care of you. The rooms are awesome and have everything in them. They pay great attention to detail. Make sure you get there for the wine cheese and cracker reception every evening. Would definitely recommend this place and will be staying there again.

I looked at so many places, thinking this was more than I wanted to spend but in the end splurged. I'm so glad I did, it was worth every penny. Completely romantic, convenient, beautiful. Perfect location, service, accommodations, etc. Nothing I would change.

Nice central location in Avila but right next to a parking lot with no grounds at all. Room was great and the free food/wine was a nice touch. Didn't try the spa but the double shower was great. Fireplace was nice; would be great in cool weather.

So many free goodies! We arrived at Avila just at the time of the evening wine hour. The concierge poured us each a glass of red wine while we waited to check in. The hors-d'oeurves were spectacular and plentiful, not to mention we came back later for the evening dessert hour. A welcome basket full of great snacks, including a couple sodas was complimentary in our room. They also have a small room for purchasing food/drinks, which they charge 'cost'. Such a great deal, we bought bottles of water, soda, and other snacks to take for our drive, left with arms full and only paid around $8 for all of it! Aside from the extras, the ambiance of the hotel is very relaxed and romantic..great for couples. Our room had a jacuzzi tub and balcony as well. Beautiful decor and fountains all throughout this small boutique hotel. Service was great and staff were super friendly. Highly recommended

We recently visited Avila Beach (with our small dog) and were delighted with the gorgeous little town that is SO dog friendly as well as this fantastic hotel. It is beautiful and intimate and charming. And our dog was so very comfortable. We have already recommended this hotel and will continue to do so.

We love this hotel. It's within walking distance to great resteraunts and wine tasting. The hotel is gorgeous and the staff will bend over backwards to accommodate you.

Just a beautiful stay in a sensational little town.

HOTEL WAS GREAT QUIET COMFORTABLE ROMANTIC
