The hotel was perfect. The staff went over the top to accommodate us. It was walking distance to town / bars / restaurants and shopping. Skiing was only a 12 min ride. I would personally like to thank Chef Shawn and the two managers Jessia and Yvette they made the entire stay enjoyable. We will be going back 2 more times this year.

We stayed in one of their lowest-cost (but still $139) rooms in the "motel" building (not the main inn) right across the parking lot. While it was clean, it was quite old, including the furniture. The arm chair was so well-worn that we were afraid to sit on it and the sofa-bed wasn't far behind. The electric base-board heater units looked like they were ready to fall off the wall and the towel rack actually did. There were all kinds of strange noises at night that woke us up several times - sounded like old heating equipment. The folks working in the inn were great, but for the price the facility was lacking.

Let's be honest, we booked the lowest level room. No one told us about WIFI connectivity nor breakfast time on arrival. Documents in room were so incomplete that we had to call reception to get the info. Room was disappointing. Very old cheap TV, no coffee... no WIFI in room, only in main building despite the fact the the add leads to believe that there is WIFI in all rooms. I paid almost half the price in Montreal and Toronto fir at least an at Par offer. Would not go back.

Room and location are great - as well as price. Only issue was rate said included breakfast yet were charged $5 per person by hotel for the continental breakfast which had a VERY limited selection of food and issues with both waffle maker and toaster. Hotel also did not even offer breakfast on one day as too few people at hotel.

My husband and I went for our anniversary and had a great time. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and the dinner we had was delicious. We would definitely stay there again. We stayed in the actual main inn part, so I'm not sure what the carriage house looked like. The only small complaint would be the gravel driveway because it did rain and snow while we were there causing our shoes to get muddy but we did notice a lot of other places had gravel driveways as well.

Our stay at the hotel was very nice but due to the season most of the resturants were closed on wednesday night. Unfortuantly the date was set due to our wedding anniversary date.

My stay was just what I wanted it to be: a peaceful 2-day visit to Stowe to take in the beauty of the area, then relax in a clean, comfortable room. The staff, particularly Maryanne, was cheerful, friendly, helpful and went that extra measure to make me feel welcome at the Stowe Inn. My go-to place in this part of Vermont!

We had a great time. The food in the restaurant attached was kind of eh, though the decor is rather beautiful. We did have some trouble accessing the wifi, but then again, we weren't interested in Facebook while we were there, so it wasn't a big deal. Might be to someone more technologically obsessed. (By "trouble", I mean it was just a weak signal.) We stayed in the King size suite, and it was perfect for us. A great place to crash after a busy day of seeing the sights. The service from the front desk was great...they were tremendously polite and helpful. We had arrived late, and were looking for something to drink, and they opened the bar up for us to serve us a couple of sodas.

We have stayed here before and the main hotel is lovely. We had only two things that could have been better. First the Bed in room 204 sagged in the middl, and needed some center supports and they stopped having hard boiled eggs for breakfast. But all in all we had a great time. We would definately return to the Stowe Inn. The girl said that they would fix the bed and hopefully the hard boilded eggs would return to the free breakfast menu. They do offer eggs for $5.00 more but were out.

its not a 5 star hotel but exactly what we expected. very nice staff, great location, beautiful buildings what else can you ask for.

Very good polite and helpful staff close to main part of town easy access and excellent restaurant on premise would like to see owner spend some money on updating the building inside needs to improve windows and doors into modern age no security otherwise vintage and rustic is nice to look at and sleep in but in this time reassurance is important

overall a nice hotel; room did have some broken windows taped together so we did not dare try to open the windows in our room on what was above average temperatures for mid-October and the room was a little on the warm side.

We were overall happy with our stay...room was clean, inn was very charming. Within walking distance to the downtown village area. Our only disappointment was that the gas was not hooked up to our fireplace, so no fire. The fireplace was one of the main reasons I booked this, so that was a bummer. Plus, there was no AC (or we just couldn't figure out how to work the temp control) and the windows in our room did not open. Though I did see windows in other rooms open.

This was a highlight on our trip to Vermont.

The room was ok. The window only had one shade on it. had 2 windows. Could not lock one of the windows. Room itself was clean & neat. In town could walk to were you wanted to do. Needs to be updated. Windows the first thing to be done & shades for all the window also.

Gladly surprised. Our room was in the main building above the restaurant (very good food!). Good size. Recommended. Our visit was in off season and we obtained a great rate. For that price the deal was outstanding. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was of very high quality. The room was quiet, 2 double beds, an extra room with a sofa and a good size bathroom. Definitely recommended.

The hotel and staff could not have been more pleasant. The hotel restaurant had a delightful view of town & the river and the meal was excellent. Booking with hotel.com was a breeze and saved us a considerable amount of money. Stowe VT area is gorgeous and the town is full of neat shops & history. Take advantage of the lantern tour - rich in history & very informative. Check out the surrounding countryside while you are there. We will definitely go again next year.

Very nice, clean inn. Not a chain. Room small but nicely appointed with period furniture, comfortable bed. Good continental breakfast included.

We really loved the convenience of having excellent food and wait staff right there at the Inn.

You get what you pay for. A gravel parking lot made for a dirty room. Hot water wasn't real warm.

We stayed in the Annex. Heat was uncontrollable (there was a thermostat) had to sleep with all of the windows open. Rug was so filthy our towels turned red form the dirt on our feet. The first day the housekeepers didn't clean our room! (No adjustment). We stayed 3 nights. That's enough.

The Stowe Inn provided the charm and convenience of a central location for the things we wanted to do while in Stowe, VT

We visited Stowe during the busy fall foliage season, and found a fair price for 2 midweek nights at the Stowe Inn. The room was clean and in good repair, save for a nightshade that couldn't roll up, but that didn't bother us. The area near our room was quiet and dark enough at night, so we slept well. The continental breakfast suited our needs for a light start to the day, but could have been made into a feast if you wanted it, since it had quite a large selection of food. We had no complaints about our experience, and will keep this one on our list of stops if we ever need it again.

The room was "nice" and comfortable but it could use some updating and minor repairs. The main building and dining area was very nice and presented the typical New England charm we were expecting.

Most enjoyable

Inn has a very nice restaurant with an interesting menu. Food was well presented and reasonably priced. The room we stayed in was fine, clean and quite spacious. Public areas in the main Inn were rather scruffy and in need of a general tidy. Overall very satisfied.

It was okay

We came up for one night to visit Norwich University. Very close to restaurants, shopping. Nice restaurant in hotel with bar.

Would not stay again

The hotel is nice, mostly an older crowd, pipes in bathroom extremely noisy, nice room and easy walks to interesting places, shops, restaurants, taking walks on paths, etc.

Late check in, desk clerk took extra time to find us a nice room. Needed help with heat, and they came right away and fixed issue. Would definitely stay here again.

smell pet on room

We chose this inn, based on the phenomenal rate we got. The motel was clean and satisfactory, but a tad tired. For the location and price, it was still a bargain. It's close to some bars and restaurants at the base of the mountain, but many good ones are further up the road. Overall, it's great value for the money.

We stayed one night at this hotel as part of a week long tour of Vermont. Although the cleaning could have been more thorough in our room (we stayed in the standard rooms), the rest of the inn seemed in great shape. We didn't bother mentioning it to any staff as it wasn't extreme, but if we had we're sure they would've gone above and beyond to sort it out. Great inn, great setting, great staff and great breakfast!

Water pressure in shower is great. Location is ideal. Perfect for people with dogs. Rooms have musty, animal smell. Complimentart breakfast is good except for flies which made us lose appetite.

The In was great and so was the staff. They do need to highlight that the doors lock at a certain hour and let you know your room key works an alternate entrance.

The Stowe Inn provides all the basic amenities without a lot of service or attention to detail. We reserved a King room but were put in a Queen room because the toilet had flooded in the King room. Since we had pre-paid our room, they couldn't refund us. They gave us a free appetizer and draft beer tasting in the restaurant (which I'm pretty sure they give everyone). The bed was comfortable but the sheets were a very low thread count - my husband thought they felt like sandpaper. The restaurant was okay - my husband's meal was delicious, but my steak was overcooked. This hotel lacks consistency - seems some travelers have good experiences and others do not. We had a mediocre experience. I will probably stay somewhere else in Stowe next time we come through - a place where the service and quality of the rooms is consistently good.

Really not a three star, a bit run down, plumbing that would wake the dead but good location. I would say two star.
