Hotel Villa Sorgenfrei - رادبول

This is an elegant old building that has been beautifully restored. It is set in a lovely neighborhood of mansions right next to the vineyards of the Weinberg. I had a rooftop room, which means sloping ceilings and somewhat limited windows - but peace and quiet and a beautiful view over the town. Breakfast (which costs extra) was in the lovely restaurant in an adjoining building. It was delicious and well presented. Even though this listing says that the restaurant serves breakfast only, it does in fact serve a wonderful (if pricey) dinner. Well worth the moderate expense. Keep in mind, this is not a chain hotel. There are no elevators or other "amenities" some travelers seem to expect. Go there for the gracious ambience - not for room service or air conditioning or cable TV. The town of Radebeul is pleasant and has easy access via streetcar to Dresden. I recommend a stroll through the vineyards and a lovely lunch or dinner at the Weinhoff Hofloessnitz - a pleasant stroll from the hotel.

Chosen partly for its close access to the Dresden airport, Hotel Villa Sorgenfrei is a lovely boutique hotel situated at the foot of the Radebeul vineyards. Its classical look is complemented by the sculpted garden and pebbled driveway. The top-floor room under the roof room atop some creaky stairs would be too cramped for taller guests and too far from the WiFi access, but otherwise very cozy and to our liking. Others have praised the quality of the restaurant, but this was not our experience. We started under a canopy of trees on a terrace overlooking the lovely garden. Romantic. When it started to rain, however, no assistance was offered to move us inside, and the maitre d' said the dining room was full and merely directed us vaguely to the "possibility" of finding something in the bar (a smallish room, more like a passageway, with two side tables separating the dining room and the reception. When I returned to the dining room to request service, a very pleasant and alert member of the wait staff immediately offered a table in the dining room. It was gratifying to see someone so attentive and service oriented. The hotel is in a residential area, so there are few other options for dining elsewhere, and virtually none without driving some distance. My fish entree arrived almost uncooked but for the tips and had to be sent back. It returned nicely done but the portion noticeably smaller than before. The markup on local wines was immodest by comparison to restaurants elsewhere, but the assortment of cheeses for dessert was balanced and delicious. The buffet breakfast was very good, and orders for specialty coffees were possible.

Das Hotel liegt zwar ein wenig außerhalb von Dresdens Sehenswürdigkeiten, ist aber dafür wunderschön (im Frühling/Sommer sicher noch mehr). Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich, die Zimmer waren teilweise mit originalen Wandmalereien versehen. Man hat das Gefühl, in eine andere Epoche einzutauchen, muss aber dennoch nicht auf Komfort verzichten. Das angrenzende Restaurant im alten Ballsaal ist zwar nicht ganz billig, aber jeden Cent wert. Wir haben uns jedenfalls sehr wohlgefühlt und würden definitiv nochmal hier einchecken! Die Villa Sorgenfrei ist eine tolle Alternative zu den gewöhnlichen Hotels der gleichen Klasse.
