We stayed in the hotel because it is very close to the Milan main train station. The hotel is reasonably priced. While supposedly a 4 star hotel, I am skeptical. The bath was tiny and worn. The room small. We were greeted with the sound of garbage trucks at 5:30am. (Request a back or side facing room -- its probably quieter.) The front desk staff was very helpful, suggesting anexcellent nearby restaurant that was open at 11pm on Sunday night! Breakfast was plentiful, but the quality of the food was so-so.

I had been three weeks in the north Italy and the Hotel Berna was a comfortable and convenient hotel for the last day travel for my friend and me. it is near the station and the shuttle to the airport. The hotel rooms are pleasantly large and the facilities a high standard. Breakfast was substantial and evening before was spent in the cosy bar. The staff were helpful. All in all a good choice for Milan.

great hotel...ten out of ten for breakfast .....close to the rail station..all the staff were very helpful and friendly. ..i would stay there again .......Scottish and Australian sisters

The location of this hotel was only a few blocks walking from the main train station in Milan. We were able to utilize the city transport system with ease. The hotel itself was comfortable and clean, with a hearty breakfast and helpful staff. The one thing we didn't know prior to arriving was that they'd be doing construction on our floor, right outside our door each morning of our stay. The noise was unwelcome at 7AM! It would have been nice if Hotels.com or the hotel itself could have informed us.

Nice soft bed and clean bathroom.

Hotel staff are awesome across the board. Very polite and welcoming. Great breakfast! They stock the minibar in room with soft drinks, soda, juice and water and it is yours to consume without any additional charge. I would stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

The hotel is fairly close to the Milan Central Station but other than this feature, I dont find any other attributes that I can commend. Breakfast spread is average. The room I occupied was on the ground floor and some parts of the floor appeared to be under renovation. Decor of the hotel is old fashioned. I will only recommend this hotel to anyone who needs to be close to the Milan central station. The hotel is expensive as I have stayed in better quality hotels based on the price I paid for Berna Hotel.

This was a charming, clean, well-managed hotel that was chosen for its geographical location and proximity to the railroad station. I would recommend it to anyone finding themselves in Milan

the hotel is located near the metro station & the surrounding area is quite nice.. The breakfast is really good..

From the moment I entered Hotel Berna, I was pleasantly surprised the service I received. Not only did they give me a free upgrade of my room, but they were polite, courteous, and made sure they were available to me at my disposal. Upon check in they knew me by name/face and did everything they could to accomodate me. The amenities were great - quality free breakfast, free wi-fi. A great value, great service. I could not be happier as this was the last stop in my trip and my group was getting a bit tired of staying in hostels.

Very conveniently situated near to the central railway station, surrounded by several 'massage parlours'. A short metro ride away from El Duomo and only 1Euro. Excellent service, beautiful upgraded room and fabulous breakfast. Would re visit again tomorrow if given the opportunity.

I am truly amazed by the service received at this hotel. From the time I arrive till the time I depart I have received good service that the hotel is reputed for. I received several notes either in my room or my email from this hotel and all made me feel special. The breakfast spread was great as well and I enjoyed it thoroughly. A really good hotel in a good location.

We were only here for one night, before flying out of Malpenza the next day, but would have been happy to stay longer. Location near station was great, and while a bit of a walk to the centre of Milan, quite doable. The staff were helpful and the room very nice (although for a longer stay this triple room lacked space for luggage). The breakfast was amazing. The little extras that were complimentary were much appreciated, as was the printer attached to the in-house computer which allowed you to print out boarding passes for fliights.

This was a great place to rest one's head after a long haul flight! Staff were friendly and accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. A very short walk from Centrale station. Breakfast was fantastic and for this gluten-free traveller there was so much choice! I can see why people make this their home base in Milano.

With a fantastic breakfast -- 5 star quality -- and the nicest staff I've experienced, this hotel is a great value. The high speed FREE WIFI is available throughout the hotel, and it is 100% non smoking. Friday night, the cozy bar had a great selection of snacks: pizza, quiche, hardboiled eggs, and the cocktails are extremely reasonablely priced. It's located in a not-great neighborhood, but as a woman traveling alone, I still felt safe. The rooms are typically small Italian style, but well appointed, clean, and most comfortable. Located just a block from the subway and a couple of blocks from the central train sation, this hotel is only a few stops from the Duomo, or an 8 euro cab ride. Best part of this hotel, however, was the consistent friendliness and helpfulness of each one of the staff.

Hotel Berna was excellent. I stated there for two nights. Service was superior, and location was great. Room was large and clean. Very close to train station. I'd recommend this hotel!

We selected this hotel based on rate and convenience to Milan Central Station. It served us well as a base from which to take trains to other places. They also have computers from which we were able to check our e-mail.

The staff at the Hotel Berna couldn't be kinder, friendlier, or more helpful. And the buffet breakfast is extraordinary. You can skip lunch after eating breakfast at the hotel.

Met an amazing Romanian staff who was friendly and gave us a brilliant piece of advice regarding one of the most understated yet excellent Italian restaurants just a few blocks away. Overall my best hotel stay during my holiday in Italy (Jun-July 2011)

I often walked by this hotel and notice the property is non-smoking. So this time, I tried this time. Good: Close to M. Centrale (like other hotels nearby) Breakfast Buffet (very very nice) WIFI speed/reception (2-3Mbps avg., 1 userID/PW works for multiple devices; I tried on 2 iPhones, iPad, MacBook Air) Daily cookies left by room cleaning service hot water maker (I need drink several cups of tea am/pm) 2 elevators (quite euro style=tiny) A/C working great Not so good: If you leave the window open in your room during summer time... (don't know why you do... but I did), you get some mosquito issue. Can't think of anything else... I will come back to this hotel (as long as the price is reasonable) and stay.

the overall feedback was good given the price and its cleanliness +great location, there are a few minor points below that may worth note taking. -there are a few steps right at the entrance of the hotel, if you are carrying big luggage (25kg +) like us, you certainly will need to make some effort while no one from the hotel is helping you. - the receptionist was great and helpful in general. However we noticed that they tended to introduce a restaurant called "limone" (which is within walkable distance) to everyone. When we arrived the restaurant, the waitress immediately asked if we were recommended by Hotel Berna... (not sure if the hotel is sharing any commission) But I would say for the price we paid at dinner ( EUR 80 for two) we could have found something better with a much cheaper price! so NOT recommended to go to that restaurant at all!!

This hotel was well located within easy walking distance of main station yet was very quiet at night. The area around the hotel was pleasant and far better than the usual large city station areas. The room was well maintained with a comfortable bed. The staff were very welcoming and the breakfast was amazing with lots of different food on offer.

We spent 2 nights in Milan on our way to Lake Como for an anniversary trip. Hotel Berna was the perfect location to see the sights of Milan, close to the Metro to see the Duomo, Last Supper, etc. Breakfast was outstanding with fresh fruit, pastries, hot food, meats and cheeses, a full meal, plus cappuccino to order and delicious hot chocolate. Room was comfortable and free WIFI worked well. I would stay again and recommend to friends, family and business travellers. Walking distance from Main Train Station which runs buses to both airports, we didn't need a car.

Best staff and hotel in italy cant say anymore

This hotel is centrally located just a 5 minute walk from Statzione Centrale train station. It is one block to the Metro, which goes everywhere in the center city. The front desk staff was terrific and so helpful with suggestions for entertainement, sights to see, etc. The room we had was on the smaller side, but very functional and clean, with a very quiet air conditioning system. The best - they have an incredible breakfast buffet. This is one of the highest quality hotel breakfasts in Italy, better than any 5 star hotel in Milan. I would highly recommend this hotel, and will return on our next visit to Milan.

I selected Hotel Berna primarily because of its convenience to the train station. We were pleasantly surprised at all aspects of the stay and found a European hotel that really cares about and focuses on service. There were many nice touches and a very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was quality and quantity. We found it easy to see the Milan sites from the location.

Great location The staff falls over you Good size room for Europe

Very good breakfast and clean and great location

From the initial welcome at the Reception desk until the final day, this was a great place to stay. The staff were all friendly, helpful and knowledgeable on Milan places of interest, restaurants etc. The food at breakfast was exceptional and what a wide variety. Tea and cake available in the afternoon was appreciated. One evening we had a drink in the bar before going out to dinner and the snacks at the bar were good too. Many of the staff wanted to try their English. They will do anything to make our stay enjoyable - and they did - we hope to come back again and explore train journeys from the city to the Lakes.

Six American's visiting Milan for three days. Great value for the price! Extremely friendly and helpful staff that speak excellent English. Spacious room size for a European hotel. Generous breakfast with a fantastic selection of hot and cold foods. Free wi-fi. Nice little bar on the property. Only two blocks from Centrale stop on the Metro, which has train, subway, and bus access. Even a shuttle to the airport. You will encounter beggars at Centrale - just be prepared. Located in a so so neighborhood, but it is not unsafe. Never needed my car, which was parked in the hotel's secure underground parking.

Unbeatable for location, service, amenities. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

As we were travelling by train from Venice the hotel was in an excellent location and bus transport to airport easy to access as well. The hotel and staff were great and the breakfast selection was the best we had experienced in all of our hotel stays around Europe.We would certainly reccommend and look forward to staying there when we come back to Milan.
