Great place to stay. We were on the 2nd floor of Bldg C, great view of the ocean from our bedroom, the 2nd bedroom, the living area and the deck. Wake up to sunrise while laying in bed listening to the ocean, cannot beat it and we did not even have an oceanfront room. Highly recommend this out of the way location. Service and cleanliness of room was outstanding; our unit was very updated and great looking.

Kauai was more breathtakingly beautiful than I ever imagined. I look forward to returning in the future and would definitely stay at the Hanalei Colony Resort again without a doubt.

We had a wonderful relaxing stay. Beautiful weather, location and staff all very helpful. The room was very comfortable and close to Hanalei town and numerous beaches. I would stay their again.

We loved this place. Our apartment was roomy and light, well laid out, spotlessly clean, well equipped, staff friendly and accommodating. and something beautiful on all sides--the ocean on mountains. The lanai had an overhang and was wonderful to watch the waves. The only disappointment was the swimming pool, which is small and not heated, so often it was quite cold and uncomfortable to get into (though very refreshing). I wish the pool were even moderately heated. The pool was important because the ocean there is quite wild and although there is a small beach that is sheltered from the strongest currents, if one wants to swim., the pool is needed. And the hot tub, although wonderfully hot, is tiny (cannot fit more than 3 or 4). Also, the pool's location right next to the road with cars driving by is not pleasant though there is a hedge separating the two. The food at the restaurant on the premises was terrible. But that said, I would definitely go back to the Hanalei Colony. The rooms with ocean view or ocean front are the best and we were lucky enough to have one! We had worried about the location (you have to go over 5 one way bridges) but that proved not to be a problem at all. It is a short ride --15 minutes tops --to the nearest town (Hanalei) and the bay there is gorgeous and protected so good for swimming. This place is a winner.

We spent 10 nights at HCR (well, with one exception when we were camping at Kalalau Beach). Highlights: Delightful staff (thank you Cissie and Stephen Steven?) for all your help and many answers to our questions). Serene location - we wanted to get away from it all. Conveniences of home - loved cooking eggs and making coffee, then sitting out on the lanai and watching the waves; were able to do (cheap) laundry during our long stay. AMAZINGLY comfortable bed. Conveniently close to Hanalei for surfing, kayaking, restaurants, groceries. Also conveniently close to gorgeous beaches and the Kalalau Trail - definitely one of the reasons we looked in that area. Be advised: it might rain, a lot. We were totally fine with the rain and had expected it. The noise from the wind at night was a bit of a problem and kept us awake most of the night twice in a row, but it was an unusual circumstance. Overall, I would love to stay here again and think it's wonderfully appropriate for couples looking for a quiet getaway or for families looking for a more spacious way to stay together near fun activities.

Stayed here for just two nights & wish I would have stayed longer! Beautiful ocean view with a corner unit. Everything you could possibly need in the kitchen & beyond. Great multi-options for BBQing. Very warm & communal sort of vibe without being intrusive in any way. Unsurpassed beach-combing. Quiet, uber-comfortable beds. Watching a couple rainstorms roll in & out (stayed in December) from our Lanai was just awesome! Will stay here again for sure. Immaculate grounds & rooms. Well done guys!!

Great place if you are planning an intimate get away with your wife/husband or significant other. Great North shore location close to Tunnels beach and the Napali coast. We had unit H3 which had an incredible view from our suite. Overall, very nice. A note that wasn't obvious to us, this is not a typical hotel with daily room service. Also, no AC, it's not needed, but you need to keep the windows open at all times. Would definitely go back if we are back in Kauai.

Very comfortable, clean and spacious accommodations, beautiful grounds. Hotel itself has one restaurant, everything else requires driving. Short drive to 'downtown' Hanalei with restaurants and some shops, and easy access to the North coast highlights, such as the Na'Pali coast, Ke'e and Tunnels beaches, Limahuli Garden.

We would definitely stay at Hanalei Colony Resort again! Service was fantastic and the views/location can't be beat! There is also a top rated restaurant at the resort which was great!

Beautiful, peaceful location as close to the Kalalau trail that you can get. Walk out your lanai to the sea. Breathtaking views of the ocean and short walk to fdown the beach for abulous snorkling. Little windy in the winter months although still great. Even though facility is older the room was great and clean.

Hanalei Colony Resort is a gem! Situated close to the end of Kauai's only road is the ideal starting point for exploring the unspoiled and breathtaking north coast. Also it is directly on the ocean, although the beach is not swimmable in the winter season. The powerful waves make for a view nevertheless! The town of Hanalei, about two miles away, is very small but provides for good restaurants and other useful services: taxi, post office, ATM, bike rental, surf school, grocery store, and a bus that connects to Lihue, where the airport is. A car is however needed on Kauai in general, and especially if you're staying at the Hanalei Colony Resort, which is otherwise rather isolated. The staff is extremely kind and helpful and provides excellent service!

We enjoy the quiet of Hanalei and this portion of the Kauai coast. This property was nicely located and low key. Our room had a nice ocean view even though we were not on the beach-it appears all the units have nice views. We would definitely stay again.

We loved the size of the room but most of all the view. We were able to cook a full Christmas dinner and eat on the balcony overlooking the ocean. A long drive from the airport but totally worth it. Rent a jeep not a mustang!

HCR is about 10 minutes from Hanalei town, great place to relax, quiet and peaceful with the nature's soothing tranquility. The property is on the beach, we had a great room (B2) with a nice view of the ocean and the garden. The morning sunrise at the backdrop was fantastic. During this time of the year (mid/January) Hanalei experience high seas as a result the from northern winds, but there is always miles of golden sandy beaches to walk. We walked every day in the mornings and evenings. In the evenings the sky is amazing! With no illumination around the stars are out to surprise you !! There were a few days when the wind was zero and the next morning sea was like a pool with no waves. We took the opportunity and took a snorkel tour. There were a variety of corals and tropical fish. The water was warm,and the visibility was about 15 meters. Some areas are for experienced snorkelers, suggest going on a guided tour. The decor of the rooms had a nice Hawaiian taste, specious and clean. The Spa and the Mediterranean restaurant was excellent, although just one thing that we thought the "Ahi (Maguro) Sashimi" could be better. The Spa and was great, we used the room on the beach and it was relaxing. We'd like to visit again.

I highly recommend this property for people who enjoy the northshore of Kauai....The property managers are very friendly, as was all the staff.

great location on the northshore, away from the crowds south...clean, with beautiful views of the surf and good beaches for walking nearby. We enjoyed the restaraunt on the property twice. Will come back on our next visit to beautiful Kauai!

This is my favorite vacation destination as of right now. Pro's: Quiet Lovely Fairly remote Beach access/beach views Privacy Comfort Family-friendly Cons: Limited local services This was just the place we needed to escape for awhile without having to pack a tent and go trekking. The resort is located almost at the end of the north road on Kauai. It took about an hour to drive up from Lihue. The resort is a handful of four-plex buildings. 2 units on top, 2 below. Our unit was a lower unit with a beach view off the lanai. It appears that all units have some beach view; there are a handful that are right on the beach, whereas others are are angled away from it. There is a restaurant/bar and a coffee bar in a building just across the yard and they host a variety of mixers and cocktail parties for people staying at the resort. The restaurant theme is Mediterranean and it also serves excellent local fish. The saffron rice appetizer was fantastic! This is a timeshare type of resort so while we were here there was a mix of vacationers and owners in residence for the winter. Everyone was friendly and polite and seemed relaxed. The pool area is beautiful and includes a large seating area with grills available for those who may want to entertain a large group. The resort is about 10 minutes out of Hanalei and about 6 minutes before the end of the road and Ke'e beach. The resort is situated right on the beach; about 25 feet from our front door. You can either drive or walk the beach for several miles. We snorkeled about 100 yards down the beach, around the point, and it was great water. There are no tv's or telephones in these units. There is wi-fi available if you must. This was a perfect place to relax, sit back, and explore the north side of the island while enjoying the convenience of a full kitchen and beautifully furnished apartment.

We enjoyed our stay! The accomodations were comfortable & roomy. We enjoyed the fact that there was no television, so we could really escape. The grounds were lovely & the beaches had some of the best snorkeling around. Our children loved the pool & jacuzzi. It was a great place to stay!

We liked everything about this hotel. Even though you can't swim at the beach in front of the hotel, there were beautiful views from it, and there are great beaches only a few minutes from it. It takes about 10 minutes to get into Hanalei town. The one thing that we noticed in Hawaii, is that out of the 5 places we stayed, only one had air conditioning. We're no fans (no puns intended) of air conditioning, and there was always a nice breeze so it wasn't missed at all. However, the 4 places without air conditioning had vents in the interior doors, so you can get visual privacy when you close the bedroom doors, but not the sound proofing within your unit you would get with conventional doors, so if you have kids and want to be romantic, keep this in mind. So this hotel had the same flow of air, except the doors were attached in such a way that you could fold up several panels so the whole side of the room opened to the common area, and you could do that for the other room. This was a bit of a disappointment at first, but it turned out quite well, because we got the privacy at night, but in the day with all the panels folded up, it made the whole unit feel much more spacious. The porch overlooked a nice view of the grassy common area with views of the ocean and mountains. We loved it here.

If you want manicured surroundings and to feel like you are at the country club in your hometown then go to Princeville. On the other hand if you want to hear the waves , enjoy the tropical surroundings , relax and get away from the crowds then Hanalei Colony Resort is for you.

I loved this resort. Condo was great and fully stocked and the ocean views were terrific. The pool and hot tub were the perfect evening distraction for the kids and us. We did not even miss having a TV. It's a little out of the way, a few miles from Hanalei, but close to Tunnels and Kee beach. All, in all I loved it and would definitely go back.

Geographically it is the last resort on the North shore of Kauai. Directly on a very scenic but not very swimmable (dangerous surf) beach. Beautiful location, very near (but not walking distance) to Tunnels Beach for fantastic snorkeling and the awe inspiring Na Pali coastline. 10 minutes drive into quaint town of Hanalei. Very spacious room. full kitchen (no dishwasher), roomy living area, balcony with table & chairs, 1 1/2 baths, 2 sleeping areas have sliding dividers for privacy from living areas but walls don't extend to high ceilings so sound/light travels. web page says wi-fi only in lobby area where they have 2 computers for guest use (free) but wi-fi worked in rooms too. No TV or phone in room, but good cell service. Mediterranean restaurant on location was good & clearly known as one of best local restaruants. Nice outdoor bbq area if you want to make your own dinner. Spa service was fair...staff was lovely but facilities not really up to par. Room is only cleaned every 3 days but that was fine. You can get clean towels anytime & they provide beach towels. laundry facilities on site by pool. We never used the pool, it's in an enclosed area near the road. Looked fine, but not the pool scene like at a big resort. We wanted comfortable, remote, scenic, not touristy. We got everything we wanted! Spring for the premium beachfront units, the view was out of this world.

ゆったり大人のリゾートではあるけど、到着までにワンレーンブリッジもあるし、結構へぼドライバーだとしんどいかも。でも、ビーチも結構近いし、トレッキングもできるし、思ったよりする事があったような・・。レストランがホテル内に１件と、コーヒーショップが１件（アートギャラリー併用）あるだけで、他のものを食べたいならハナレイタウンに出ないと何も無い・・。（１件、途中に小さい店はあったけど）我々の部屋は、予約ミスでガーデンビューになってしまったけれど、窓からはドバーっと緑緑・・。これはこれで素晴らしかったです。雨が降ったり晴れたり忙しい天気の所ですが、ある晴れた夜に見たハーフムーンが海を照らす風景はとてもきれいでした。

Die Anlage rühmt sich seit den 60ern zu bestehen, nunja so sind auch die Zimmer, Da hat man teilweise das Gefühl, dass seit dieser Zeit nichts gemacht wurde. Die Möbel und Küche inkl. Küchengeräte sind veraltet - Ausnahme: Mikrowelle - und stinken teilweise wie vermodert. Teilweise kam wegen der Feuchtigkeit auch die Tapete von der Wand. Zimmerservice - was das? Wir waren 6 Nächte dort und unser Zimmer wurde 1 Mal gereinigt bzw. die Handtücher gewechselt. Es gib auch nicht durchgängig Fenster, sondern teilweise - ich weiss gar nicht ob die Bezeichnung richtig ist - Holzlammellenfenster. Es hat folglich die ganze Nacht gepfiffen und gezogen. Es gibt kein Fernsehen oder Radio, nur mehr oder weniger gut funtionierendes WLAN Jedoch, die Lage an der Nordküste ist klasse und die Mitarbeiter sehr freundlich. direkt am Meer (Baden jedoch kaum möglich wegen zu hoher Wellen und teilweisen Steinküste), ca. 5 Minuten bis Tunnels Beach bzw. zum berühmten Trail an der Westküste entlang oder in die andere Richtung nach Hanalei auch nur 10 Minuten. Ein Auto ist sehr zu empfehlen, da man sonst sehr eingeschränkt ist. Alles in allem passt u.E. einfach das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis nicht. Für das Geld kann man wohl wesentlich kompfortabler in ebenso guter Lage östlich von Hanalei/Princeville unterkommen.

Das riesige Appartment mit gut ausgestatteter Küche und komfortablem Balkon war jeden Cent des nicht ganz billigen Abgebotes wert. Die Lage exponiert (wir konnten an einem Tag die wegen Überflutung gesperrte Straße nicht passieren). Vorsicht also -> nach Möglichkeit nicht bis zum Abflugtag dort bleiben. Die Umgebung ist für jeden Naturliebhaber überwältigend. Gute Wander- und Bademöglichkeiten.
