Pacific Edge Hotel on Laguna Beach, a Joie de Vivre Hotel - لاجوا بيتش

Since I've stayed at Pacific Edge before, I had high hopes that they'd upgraded the hotel rooms to match the increase in room rates, but not with the room I stayed (Beachfront King, Reef building) WHen booking, be sure exactly what room you're getting, if it's in a renovated section of the hotel, and if possible, on a corner, if you value privacy.

Great location. Balcony doors not great - rattled at night as poor fit. Didn't use the hotel restaurants - one was closed. Laguna is a lovely town. Plenty of restaurants around. Valet parking expensive. Would stay again.

great location to downtown area of shops and restaurants, easy to walk to just about anywhere you would want to go. A pleasant surprise to find this hotel, will make it a do-again.

Great location, staff & amenities. So enjoyed hearing the sound of crashing waves all night!!

Great location and room right on the water, but the hotel is old and needs some serious TLC.

While the staff was accomodating and the location is great, the rooms are terribly out dated and the hallways were creepy. The carpeting is old and everything about the look of this place says that this is a "has been" hotel. It was probably great in the 60's but nothing has changed since. We checked out two nights early and sacrificed the good location for a nicer hotel off the beaten path. Sorry Pacific Edge. Nothing personal but I can't recommend you.

We first checked in (late) they were so nice they gave us a free bottle of wine and upgraded us to a ocean view room with a jetted bath tub. Valet was really nice and fast. The beach house was sooooo good the food was just always amazing with great service. I heard it was always loud because of parties but it was really quite and romantic. I couldn't get my wife to leave!

Hotel is kind of on the old side but the location and helpfulness of the staff makes up for the dated buildings. Would definitely stay there again.

Will deffinetly be staying here again! You can't beat the price for an ocean front room. It was perfect!

The Village room looks out upon a parking lot, although there is a sliver of an ocean view. The walls were so thin I could hear every word said by the guests in the adjoining rooms. The hotel seemed fairly empty mid-week, and yet I was out in a room between a family with a toddler and a couple having a loud fight. In the morning I could hear the maid cleaning the room next door at 7 am. The bed was comfortable and the room is made to look updated with cute furnishings and paint. But this is a very no frills hotel that doesn't merit the price. There isn't even one premium cable tv channel offered for free. No bellman, no room service. $24 per day parking charge. I would stay elsewhere next time.

I highly reccomend that you stay here. Very nice rooms and well equipped.Right on the beach with great access. The Deck Bar was awesome to hang out at. Very friendly Hotel personell. The only thing that caught me by surprise was that the parking at the Hotel it is all Valet parking. Seemed to be a little expensive. Easy walk to down town Laguna.

Ocean front room fantastic. Clean, but many areas need new paint and mouldings. One other problem for us (over 80), too many steps to room. Location perfect and service great-compliments to the staff. But, anyway, we would go back.

We did not have a renovated room, but it was very decent and nice and clean. The ocean view was outstanding. Service was above and beyond throughout our stay. If you're looking for comfort and a great view, this is a great place to stay. Definitely not a 5 star hotel - is older, but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

This was out first time to this hotel. The staff was very nice and to our surprise a crib was supplied for our baby plus they left him a little stuffed animal. Very nice room and steps from the beach. The only thing is we were not in a beachfront room so we wanted to go sit on a deck and they had no deck. But other then that it was a wonderful stay. We liked it so much we stayed an extra day. We will be back. Thank you!

This is a great "beach Hotel" located right where you'd want to be if visiting Laguna Beach. There are fancier places where you could spend a lot more money, but if you're looking for a clean place with friendly service you couldn't do much better than this. Deserves a 5/5 but could use some touch-up paint and a deep-cleaning. Would stay there again.

This place is very high end on pricing, but that's where high end ends. This place seemed like they bought up decrepit motels as they went out of business, reprinted them and branded them all the same facility. You have to schlep your stuff from crummy building to crummy building to get to your room. Which costs $159, is older than I am (btw, I'm 46) and smells of mold. Terribly terribly disappointed and angry. Bait and switch at its worst!

Really confused on this one. Cool location next to the beach. Beach experience was really enhanced by the Beach Attendant. Everything you need to enjoy a day at the beach is available. Parking is a mess and costs additional per day to valet. Condition of the hotel is dated. Bathroom and kitchen need major remodel. TV did not work and could never get the internet to work. Beds are comfortable and clean although the carpet was not. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Close to restaurants and bars. Enjoyed our stay but wish facility was a little nicer.

Despite the pictures and the advertising, there are only a handful of rooms which are beachfront, which was very disappointing. The hotel is old and needs updates, along with better cleaning. However, the hotel is logistically close to shops and restaurants, and is close to the beach.

The view from room was awesome and hotel very nice. Was very impressed with staff, everyone was so nice. We were going to go out to a nice dinner both nights but the room service was so good we ordered in. The food was top notch and delivered within in minutes still very hot! Would highly recommend and go again!

Amazing location and view from our room fronting the beach with a balcony. Very friendly staff (even got a free bottle of wine as it was our honeymoon) only thing that lets the hotel down is that the room was a bit dated, although well decorated and the $20 a night valet parking, otherwise excellent stay!

When we first checked in, we were given a room that my family of four could barely stand in all together. There was not a balcony as promised. I asked to be changed to a larger room, but there wasn't anything available. I asked again the next day. The front desk manager was very polite and said we'd be helping her out if we could switch rooms. We were so desperate for some space, we agreed to anything. We got space, but at a price. The curtains had a large, unidentifiable stain. We had to get a roll-away for our children. It was not fit for humans. My youngest ended up sleeping on the floor because "something hard was poking her all night". The valet, which many of the rooms faced, was exceptionally loud until about midnight. Oh - be prepared to pay $20 a night for valet which is your only choice aside from street/ metered parking. I get that this is an older property, I just had expectations of cleanliness and comfort. Aside from the location, directly on the beach, this property had very little to offer.

The Pacific Edge is a great hotel, we paid for the upgrade to the beach front rooms which had fantastic sea views and also all the beach front rooms had recently been upgraded. Laguna Beach is a great town, great restaurants and great shopping.

Bryan from the front desk provided exceptional service to us during our stay. Our room was comfortable and the view of the sea lions at play was outstanding before a gorgeous sunset. The location is absolutely perfect-nice beach and walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. This is a very reasonable hotel with so much to offer.

Loved that everything we were interested in was in walking distance. Nice little balcony with a partial view of the ocean. Staff was very friendly and room was clean, but I thnk the carpet needed an update. Comfortable bed and soft towels.

In general our stay was great but there are some pretty noticable maintenance issues that should be handled.

If your wanting an affordable place at the beach... this is it. Even in the low cost villa rooms your 100 steps from the sand. The beach out front is pleasant and was never crowded during our stay. The beach attendent with free use of beach chairs, sand toys, umbrellas, and boggie boards was a pleasantnsurprise. The room was small, but workable. It was definitely an old motel style room with fresh paint, but was much nicer than we had exspected after reading other reviews. Small Child Warning: No bathtubs, only showers. Comfortable bed, ample pillows, towels, and maid service. 2 pools, both kepted very clean and at a pleasant temperature, actually saw the pool cleaner out there every morning like clockwork. $20 a night for parking sucked, but they had a well ran, speedy valet who will even pull your car up to the lobby spaces if asked (very convent if your in the el cheepo rooms). The employees were EXTREMELY FRIENDLY and helpful even with the hotel sold out / at capacity. Disneyland was an easy 25 min drive. Easy access to get back to I5, and the Toll Roads back to I15. In short, yes this hotel is an older revamped property. It has some werid quirks. If your looking to stay at the Ritz, this is not it. But if your looking for a nice beach right on the sand, a place where you can park your car for 5 days and be a beach bum, and in the end still have enough gas money to get home, then it would be hard to beat this place.

Everything was amazing we saw dolphins and seals from thr patio.

Our stay at your hotel was perfect. Everything about your hotel made our stay just the best. The staff were so nice to us. The room was always clean and spotless. We loved every minute of our vacation, and we loved being right by the ocean. We will, for sure be coming back next year to stay at the Pacific Edge. It couldn't have been nicer. We loved it. Thank you all.

I got a great price and overall I feel it was a great value at a casual but perfectly-located property. This property is an older beach hotel. There have been recent cosmetic updates, but it still has the feeling of being a beach place. The rooms are not posh, but my king-bed room was large enough for a table and two chairs as well as a sitting chair, and it also included two bedside tables and a credenza. In other words, spacious. I had an ocean-front room and the best part of my stay was listening to the waves and looking at the view for two solid days. The balcony was directly above the beach--ideal. There seemed to be a lot of families there, so if you're not into a location with kids running around, this may not be for you. The hotel has valet, which is important because parking in Laguna Beach is a hot commodity. From this location, you can walk all over town. If you want beach front views and easy beach access, this might be the place for you.

This place is amazing! Words cannot do this place justice...you just have to be there. We live in the town next door yet felt like we were in another state on vacation. We will definitely be back!

The hotel staff is VERY friendly and helpful - service you would expect from a 5-star hotel! You can't beat the location - right on the sand. The restaurants are PACKED for dinner on the weekend (even room service would have been 1.5 hours, we were told). We went to Mare (Italian - across the street) for dinner and the food was excellent. The room was older... what you would expect from a 3 star hotel, but it was clean and we paid for the view (ocean king - view was AMAZING). Overall, we would absolutely stay again.

The service was outstanding and so was the view; but I had to pay about $100 more to get a view of the ocean and the room was nothing special. I'm pregnant so I can't drink, therefor we didn't have much of anything to do around there. We pretty much stayed in our room most of the time. It's nice to be by the beach, but not for that price.

Staff was amazing - very helpful and friendly. Perfect service overall. However, if you don't get a room on the beach it is very loud. There is an alley that runs between some of the buildings that 18 wheelers use for deliveries (I assume) all hours of the night. I paid less than $100 a night so not a huge issue, but I wish I had forked up some more cash for a quite room. Even a room on the main street would have been better.

Hotel was on beach. Beautiful view of ocean in main beach area. Room was spacious and loved the decor. Restaurant had good food.My only complaint is that once we had checked into our room we realized that the toilet would not flush and there was no hot water for shower or bath. TV channels were not working. This was very frustrating after a long 8hr drive. Just wanted to shower and relax. Hotel moved us to another room. Everything worked great. But hotel did not offer to give us an upgraded room or even a credit on at least one nite stay for the inconvience. The hotel was also undergoing construction which was very loud and made it hard to relax and due to the construction the hot tub at the pool area was closed

There's nothing like waking up to the sound of the ocean and stepping onto the balcony to gaze at the deep blue sea right outside. It's a perfect, affordable getaway. The room has no frills, but it's very clean and tidy. My wife and I will definitely go back, and soon.

The location was great, but the room was a little pricey for the size and value.

If you r one to believe location location location this is your hotel .we had a beach front room u can't get any closer out the door 12steps down on the sand walk to town and restaurants a couple minutes. Will be going back for sure .

We had such a nice time at this hotel. It was very clean, the shower was awesome, and the staff was excellent. The hotel is right on the beach and centered in the bustling little town of Laguna Beach, which we immediately fell in love with. We rented a two bedroom suite with a kitchen. If I were to list any negatives, they would be that our room overlooked the valet parking area, which was noisy. Also, that the valet parking was mandatory and $20/night. The kitchen had two pots and an old steak knife, no dishes, utensils, etc. The furniture was in disrepair, and the maid didn't leave any extra toilet paper, even when the roll was almost gone. Even with the negatives though, we enjoyed ourselves immensely, and enjoyed the hotel very much. We would definitely stay again if they run another special.

Pro's - Opened my door and could see the ocean, walking distance to bars, nice restaurants and market if you need it. Spacious room, dining table with two chairs, kitchen with frig (dated and slightly damaged inside). Front desk staff VERY friendly. Con's- Electricity went out for about 15 mins (odd), room walls are very thin and we could hear the neighbors through them. Room is dated. I don't recommend a street facing room, it would be extremely loud. Overall, if you are looking for a safe place with a great location to lay your head for the night, this is a great value if you book on a discount.

This place is gross. The room is gross, the service is bad, the pools were not heated, the room wasn't ready. The entire hotel is undergoing major rennovations. It was so bad that when our room was finally ready, we took one look at it and left to stay up the street. This hotel was not an ounce better than a Motel 6. The restaurant is a rip off and the food isn't that great, it is impossible to get a seat at the deck and the Beachhouse had the worst service ever. Totally awful trip.
