Bel air is simply the best!

The atmosphere was elegent. Very different with rooms surrounding an outside lobby. They always had somekind of coffee/tea bar open and the champagne sunset was fun to do. The buffet was very good in the restaurant. We had reservations for 2 separate visits. The first one went without a hitch, but when we returned, our reservation was given away and we were shipped to a different hotel. We were not very happy since i had a confirmation for the reservation. We were looking so forward to our second visit.

Our last night after returning from Tulum we stayed here. For whatever reason they had no rooms available with lagoon view (what we paid for) so they gave us a sweet ocean view! Old hotel remodeled with a modern touch. great pool and lounge area and beautiful but windy beach... Don't bother with the restaurant here, take a taxi and go expore cancun. For this price its hard to beat.

We spent our final night here before an early-morning flight, and appreciated the convenience to the airport. The room was attractive and comfortable, although I was troubled by the smell of cigarette smoke in the pillows and comforter on the bed. I would consider returning for a longer visit.

The way the hotel was set up was very nice and romantic. There was free champagne at sunset followed by coffee and pastries. However, the food in the restaurant was sub-par. Room had a strange, undetectable odor! The hotel staff will knock on your door at least four times a day. One time the cleaning guy entered the bathroom without knocking while I was in the shower!!! Overall the hotel was pretty quiet . Check in/out took at least half an hour.

I tipped the manager $20 US and was placed in a room above the kitchen. Uncomfortable bed and noise all night. Could not wait to leave!

I wrote a more detailed review the other day that encompassed all three nights of my stay. There were several inconveniences including no keys, system down, electricity down, no air despite asking for it to be fixed 3 times. The employees were extremely pleasant and helpful but don't expect much to go right at this hotel.

Everything with this hotel went wrong from the beginning. I'm not a picky traveler and quite enjoyed the quieter more Mexico feel to this hotel, however everything went wrong. When we arrived their system was down and no keys were issued so a bellboy accompanied us to our room every time. Additionally, the electricity went off for awhile so elevators were not working. The internet only worked for about 50% of the time we were there. Because the system was down we were unable to pay through our room for my spa since we were leaving that day. Thus, I paid in cash, but they would not accept any bill that had the slightest tear. Lastly, we didn't have air in our room for two days. I called three times and they sent 4 different people up to our room, nothing was fixed and no room change was offered despite the hotel only being at 25% capacity. The personnel was extremely pleasant and willing to help even though these inconveniences kept popping up. You should plan to speak at least some spanish because a lot of the staff has limited English.

The hotel and hotel staff were nice. But the food and restaurant services were really bad!

I had the worst check-in time with this hotel. It is a nice looking hotel, but the management and the people who work there need to take a course on costumer service. I saw 5 unhappy guests trying to check-in. The front desk people were running all over the place like chickens with their heads cut off. When it was my turn to check-in, other guest were trying to get the attention of the front desk people. I understand they were irritated with the horrible service. I had to stand up and block the other guest from talking to the front desk person. Overall, I can speak for the people who were there and trying to check in the same time I did. The service was horrible..... Next time im going to stay at the Hilton or the Westin....

Nice hotel, friendly staff, and they are doing many things right. Sadly, they insist on playing LOUD MUSIC all day. We tried to have the volume turned down so we could talk without raising our voices, and it worked for half an hour, then it was the same again, and we checked out the following day. Too bad - wish they had a more clear definition about their target segment (pictures look like a getaway resort, but the music plays as if it was spring break) The price of the all inclusive package is +30% compared to other hotels that have much more to offer, as it turns out (we would never have found out, were it not for the music that drove us to shop for other accomodation)

We stay 6 nights in Bel Air hotel and enjoyed every moment. Everyone are so nice and atmosphere just magical. Beautiful beach and pool, food is great and good coctails.

The check in service was slow, we had to have them unplug the shower and th two lights by the bed were out. The decoration of room was kind of sleezy.

I choose this for a 1 night, inexpensive, beachfront stop on my my to Playa del Carmen for 7 days, I believe I got what I paid for and my expectations were met. As always, the people of Mexico are friendly, charming, helpful in everyway, no matter WHAT level of accomadations. Thank you to the staff. The beachfront location was GREAT! The food not so.

From a superficial view this hotel was obviously renovated from a much older hotel. However I am used to traveling and staying at 5 star and 5 diamond hotels. Some of the small details were missed but I had a good night sleep, I had a good sushi dinner. The room was clean. For an over-nighter or a couple of days this hotel was great. The price was good.

This is a GREAT hotel. Especially if you want to be away from all the spring break madness. Spent extra $$ for the ocean view and it was so worth it. Its a small hotel with amenities... coffee/bread in the morning, sparkling wine at sunset. Nice simple touch. On the beach, the hotel provides chairs and umbrellas. There is also food/bev service poolside and beachside. If you want to go into town, there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. Takes about 15-30 minutes, depends on the bus driver. Looking forward to our next stay.

Great staff and food! This place is a bit older but very quaint and cozy. The bed / pillows are very comfortable. Go for the all inclusive. The food and drinks were very good! I recommend this. Only heads up for families; the beach at the Bel Air there was a lot of topless women. My husband thanked me; I wasn't as amused but enjoyed a good book on the beach. The only suggestion would be the main restaurant. They need some pictures on the walls and rug mats on the floors to control the noise levels. The noise echoes off the walls and was a bit too much for us after a long day.

This was a good place as a staging point for our Chichen Itza trip, but I wouldn't recommend a stay of more than a couple of days. The Hotel Zone is just a big shopping mall - no real character, not what I would call "Mexico". Concierge recommendations for restaurants literally took us to a mall food court. The pool and beach were OK, and the price was alright. The breakfast buffet was really good - lots of fresh fruit. But the dinner menu was bland and overpriced. The restaurant hostess was less than friendly, but everyone else was helpful and nice. There were some strange construction sounds coming from the room above us. Overall, it was clean and stylish and a good jumping off point for the rest of our trip. If you want a real Mayan Riviera experience, head to one of the beach towns further south, like Tulum (which we did for the rest of our trip).

It is unfortunate that an attractively decorated and relatively comfortable hotel should have so little choice for food, which is also quite expensive. The one and only restaurant was badly managed with the atmosphere of a cafeteria, and since I did not have a car, I was forced to eat there. Some dishes were inedible - one being fish which had barely been cooked! There was little variety and the only meal half way palatable was breakfast! If the Bel Air provided a choice of restaurants and excellent food that nearby hotels do, it would be worth the price. .

This hotel is a great value. Rooms are clean, beds and linens are comfortable. I would highly recommend an ocean view room. Rooms that face the main road are likely loud with traffic. Ocean view rooms are quiet and the view is wonderful. The hotel is not a posh luxurious place. But they do provide nice complimemtary touches like coffee and danishes in the morning and tea time in the afternoon. The beach is beautiful. Water is crystal clear and sand is white. This is not true with every hotel in Cancun. The pool is nice too. Lots of cushony lounge chairs for laying out. Umbrellas and hammocks too. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Some greenery around the pool would help the visual appeal of this hotel tremendously. The adjacent properties are not so great to look at. A worthwhile investment would be palm trees (potted) or some kind of green hedge to line the property on the south side and also sparingly in the pool area. Also, the music they play at the pool is not so great. Investing in a couple CDs would be a nice touch. And finally, I would not recommend the food at the restaurants. It is reasonably priced but not good at all, in my opinion. Overall though, a great hotel for the money!

Despite 3-week advance booking, they did not have room available for me and gave me voucher for another 3-miles away hotel.

As noted above. Good hotel with value for money. Location, amenities, cleanliness, convenience were all positives for the BelAir

Is a half hour from the main part of cancun. 20.00 cab ride or under 1.00 on buses that run every 15 minutes and easy to use. not a lot of places to eat or drink other than the hotel in this area. The hotel is clean and well looked after with a decent beach.

Hotel and room were clean; staff was friendly and attentive. However, free wi-fi was promised and was not available for 4 of our 6 days. In addition, the A/C in the room worked intermittently, which made for a couple of stuffy, hot nights - not great for sleeping. Overall, the experience was just OK.

The pool was fantastic and beautiful with a great view of the ocean. We had lagoon view overlooking the landscaping office. Not too attractive... The room was nice spacious for the money. The downsides were the service at the restaurant. Poor. The beach has large rock formations on it making it slightly dangerous to enter the beautiful blue water. Enter from farther up the beach and it is nice. Food was not good either. We recommend Bubba Gumps Seafood. Overall, we spent way more on food than anticipated and weather was not good. Went diving with Manta divers and it was great! Overall, good for the price but not great. We bussed it alot and there was not a store close by. Go to Margaritaville at least once for the fun! The emcee is very cool!

I did not like the hotel because the decoration of the room is of bad taste, the courtains and the chairs you feel like you are in a beauty parlor. The lamps are rusty. We have to leave the hotel because you dont feel confortable in the room.

I had a great experience with hotel. The room was ready, clean, and was cool when I arrived. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is good and bad. It was good because it was close to the airport (only 10 minutes away). But bad if you wanted to go downtown, as it was about 25 minutes away by taxi ($18 taxi each way). Don't bother taking the bus late at night due to the limited frequency. The advantage of the hotel being a little more remote, is it was very quiet and there were no children running around the property. I definitely recommend it.

This hotel is in the perfect location in my opinion. A 20 minute bus ride to the bars and parties, but after can come back to a quiet peacful location with out a lot of noise. The entire exerience at the hotel is very ralaxing. Can go to the pool bar most hours of the day, and after to the indoor bar. All staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are a little older than some hotels, but very well kept and exptreemly clean. Located right on the beach complete with there own lifeguard. Food is very good, but not really traditional mexican, however this can be found very close by at other restaraunts.

This is an older building and there are certainly quirks, but all in all this hotel is stunning! They've done a nice job of updating the hotel and the style and service are top notch. Try to get a room on the beach-side rather than street-side as the sound proofing isn't great and you'll hear traffic all night long. The beach this hotel has is great, it's not all rocks like some other hotels in the area.

While in Cancun, I ended up visiting many of the hotels on the strip. And I am so happy I chose Bel Air! I definitely got the best deal for the money! Great rates, amazing view, nice pool, decent beach. Cheap food and drinks in the hotel (never found this in any of the other Cancun hotels). Staff were friendly, rooms were clean and comfy. Wireless is pretty slow in the rooms, that was my only complaint.

We chose this hotel for our last night of vacation in Quintana Roo because it was close to the airport but still on the ocean in the Cancun Hotel Zone. There were a couple of snags on arrival (room not ready at check-in time and uncertainty about availability of shuttle to airport for our early morning return flight). The first was a slight annoyance but we were able to change into our bathing suits and wait in the gorgeous ocean-side swimming pool with swim-up jacuzzi and bar, and that was the perfect solution! The question about the shuttle was a little more nerve wracking but was solved with a bit of persistence. Three different hotel employees told us three different things in the course of an hour. When something like this happens you just have to stay calm and be persistent until you get a satisfactory answer, in writing, which we eventually did. Our only complaint about the room was that the bed was a bit softer than we like. Other than that, the room and the common areas and pool were all beautiful, clean, and as picture perfect as you want them to be in a resort area like Cancun. Our stay here was just for one night, our last night before returning from two weeks spent in Playa del Carmen, but I could easily see staying at the Bel Air for several days of laid back Cancunning! We were on European plan for our one night so I cannot comment on the all-inclusive packages. We ate one meal and had drinks at the swim-up jacuzzi bar. The prices were reasonable and the hotel staff very accommodating. You don't have to have cash on at the pool as all expenditures are simply added to your hotel bill which you pay at checkout. The location of the Bel Air makes it perfect for a quick trip to and from the airport. By the same token, it is relatively far from the "action" in Cancun and downtown Cancun, but these are easily reached by an inexpensive bus ride. Our take away memory of our one day at the Bel Air will be the beautiful vista and cooling comfort of azure w

This hotel suited our purposes - nice pool, good price, close to the airport. I would stay there again.

We chose this hotel because of the price and because there were no children. The beds were very comfortable as described in Trip Advisor. The drain in the bathroom sink seemed clogged and was very slow to drain. Food was okay but nothing to write home about. I expected that also according to Trip Advisor. What we didn't expect was that some of the female staff were very rude. So much so that one of the hostesses in the restaurant would not even wait on us. I'm not sure if it's because we are two single ladies and most other guests were couples but I think some of the guys who worked there must have been too friendly but there was no need to take it out on us. We couldn't help it that we're beautiful. We were not flirting with anyone so I didn't quite understand what was going on. The last thing we were looking for was a tryst with a bellboy or pool boy. I also thought it was not good that one morning workers were hammering on the roof at 9:00am. If we had been hung over, we would have been a big problem. Even though I called down to complain this went on until at least about 2:00pm. The only way I would go back is if my boyfriend comes with me.

The hotel was nice and comfortable, but don't think I'd stay there again. They tried to add on a bunch of additional fees at checkout that we were never told about.

I loved the Bel Air Collection. Right on the beach with great ocean views. All white, black and gray with red accents. Big central atrium. Champagne and desserts at sunset. Very nice staff. Comfortable, pretty quiet, very laid back. The restaurant was great. Have the breakfast buffet, best french toast ever! They make their own bread. Great value. A wonderful lunch buffet that lasts till 4 or 5 pm. I just ate a late lunch and then had snacks for dinner. Beautiful pool and nice big sunning area. I go to Cancun for a few days every March on my way south to Maya Tulum for a yoga retreat. I plan to stay at the Bel Air Collection again!

Great hotel, very quiet if you want to rest and relax. Very friendly staff, always solved our questions and requests promptly and with a nice smile. Definetly the best hotel bed I have tried, slept as in a cloud. In room amenities are very nice, cofee is complimentary and they lend you DVD movies at request with no cost. Definetly one of our favorite hotels. The only down: a bedroom paint almost falled from the wall and the elevator carpet should be renewed, but overall the hotel is in very good conditions.

The hotel is in a good location for what we were looking for. A nice cosey place without the patter of kids running around the halls. It is just a nice couples place to stay with enough amenities to make our stay comfortable. The pool area is very nice, the ocean is almost right your door. Be sure to ask for an 'ocean view' room. The hotel doesn't get my full 4 star rating due to the lack of selection the quality of service and the confusing restaurant locations. We took the bus ride to the end of the line and from there ate at local eating places. However, I highly recommend the Collection Spa is indeed the place where mind, body & spirit become one.

Where to start... This hotel is on the southern most point of the hotel strip so there is absolutely nothing within walking distance. The food at the on-site restaurant is so-so at best. The rooms were clean enough but not very comfortable and show the old age of the hotel despite the recent renovation. The service was average from the staff, except for the "concierge" who was absolutely no help with anything, and flat out refused to make a local phone call for me. The place was cheap, and we got what we paid for. The only positive comment I can make about the Bel-Air, is it photographs well.
