Everything was very nice, except that the room was a bit cold no matter how much I turned up the thermostat.

A very nice hotel... Great breakfast... Clean fresh rooms, a little tiny but its not in America so.. Parking costs about 160sek $20 for 24 hours at Nordstan. Always staying here when im in Gothenburg. The best location...

We stayed for two nights and the only reason why we didn't give them 100 % score in cleaning is because the cleaner left their spray bottle in our bathroom and there was a broom outside our door. The cleaning in itself was not bad. The breakfast was amazing, the room was nice and newly renovated and over all I think we got a good deal for our price. We would defiantly come back for another visit and we can recommend this hotel warmly.

Stayed here on business and found it to be clean, quiet and a good location for the centre of Gothenburg. Staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Food was good overall too, but there are plenty of restaurants in the neighbourhood. Would recommend to others and would use it myself when I was paying too.

Mixed feelings after my stay. The mouldy lino bathroom was not acceptable for that price - worse than at a youth hostel. The breakfast was on the other hand superb.

Just opposit to the central station. Near the city centre. The room is clean. Breakfast is good.

Do not be fooled by the pictures. When you make a reservation and the description include the words “old part” mixed in it, what they do not tell you is that the “old part” wing of the hotel is a 1 start-like hotel. You take a cargo elevator to go through a corredor that smell humedity into a room that also smell humedity. To add insult to injury, looks like reception has a preferential tratment only if you are in the “new part” of the hotel. Bad experience overall…

Good over night stay to sleep and eat. No A/C

Our booking of two rooms was double booked and therefore we were upgraded to a very comfortable, spacious suite. The breakfast room was a little on the small side, but breakfast itself was good.

This hotel is right in the middle of everything, even attached to the largest mall in the area. The room was great. Not as deluxe as Radison Blu but then the price is much less. Goteburg parking is much less than in Stockholm or Oslo. (Do go to the fishmarket - freshest fish anywhere and not even the fishy smell! It is just a few blocks away.) It is a little difficult finding the lobby of the Hotel Opera but park in the mall parking garage and then go to the east end of the mall and there are signs directing to Hotel Opera. Great staff!! Fantastic breakfast!!. funny little elevator.

Excellent location close to shopping and railway station for a reasonable rate (cf. to other downtown Swedish hotels). My room was small and the very little view, but it was modern and clean.

We stayed for just one night, but it was convenient, included free internet and breakfast and was reasonably priced.

Close to the train station, shops, and restaurants. Very good breakfast.

We stayed in the old part of the hotel. Nice, clean. Looked out onto another hotel. Closed the curtins to stop people looking into the room. In the morning woke up to loads of bottles being collected/breaking for recycling. Breakfast was ok. The eggs weren't too nice tho. Let us use the locker room for bags for the day and we collected them in the evening, which was nice, saved paying in the station.

Not so grand but good enough. Close to bus and rail central. Very close to shopping arcade. 10 minutes from the harbour. Not so close to a reasonable eatery. Sweden is an expensive country, so come prepared. The hotel was good, probably rate it 3 - 4 stars. Breakfast buffet ideal if you are Scandinavian. Average price of a pint £6.50, yes six pound fifty. If you go take some comfortable walking shoes.

Hotel is located extremely conveniently close to central station and Old City. Got discount when booked the hotel at hotels.com, otherwise it would be quite expensive. After renovation the hotel's rooms look much fresher than one year ago.

I liked the looks and price of this hotel but some of the reviews I ready were less than flattering (concerning the old part). I stayed in the old part and it was wonderful. I'm sure these dissatisfied travelers are unfortunately exceptions because I found my room to be very clean and comfortable, no problems with the beds or noise levels at all. The hotel itself is in a great location especially if you take the Flygbussarna coach from the airport.. The front desk staff was very polite and helpful as well. I would stay here again.

Good location. Close to centeral station. 5 minutes by walking. Goog breakfast. Small room size. Bad smell in bathroom. I stayed 3 nights. But they didn't clean my room at second day.

room was tiny but ok NO a good selection of TV chanels chambermaid did not want to take my plate from the late meal i had on arrival for some reason not enoiugh towels 1 hand very small one bath need one for the floor as shower is integrated

I got a room in the old wing of the hotel. The room absorbed the noice from the outside making it impossible to sleep there. Thankfully after a few calls down to the reception they upgraded me to a room in the new part of the hotel which was amazing. Be aware of where you book your room, the new part is newly refurbished and extremely nice, the old part is a bad option at least if you want a good nights sleep.

The staff of the Grand Hotel Opera were wonderful, extremely helpful and professional. And the room that I was given was kept quite tidy. But that room was in the "old part" of the hotel, and the prices are significantly lower there for a reason. The room was teeny tiny and it felt hidden away in a back corner of the hotel. If I had it to do over again, I'd pay more and stay in the newer part of the hotel, no question.

We stayed for 10 days and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were very helpful.The room (in the old part) was more than adequate with the only drawback being that it overlooked a busy hotel and shopping precinct entrance and so was noisy at night. The rooms in the old part do not have air conditioning so we had kept our window open at night as it was hot. When I asked for a fan, one was promptly delivered and the problem was solved. We also wanted to store our valuables so were given the exclusive use of a safe in the hotel lobby. The buffet breakfast was excellent in terms of both quantity and choice and we were particularly impressed with the provision of gluten-free foods including a separate toaster for the bread which my husband found invaluable. The hotel was centrally placed with several tram lines a short walk away.

There are two different hotel qualities in one. The reception and main building are 4 star. The other two or three buildings connected to main hotel are in back and are middle three star rooms. Size is good and they are very clean and nicely appointed but not 4 star.

asked to have room cleaned because not feeling well. took five hours to clean room while waiting in lobby. desk clerk did call for early cleanup, but maid did not clean early.

Old part of hotel means: rooms far away, old beds-v soft, in need of modernising, drably decorated.The reception/lobby area does not reflect the rooms. Breakfast fantastic!

The staff at the front desk were very helpful and obliging. However the fan in the shower room did not work and this detracted from the overall impression of the hotel

The bad - I stayed in the old section and can report that the noise from the street can be VERY loud. Very loud. It's like you are sleeping on the street. The good - the location is very good and convenient. However, Gothenberg is a small town so I'd expect the same is probably true for most places you can stay.

Grand in title led me to expect something special. Certainly the location is very central, though difficult to reach by car. Our budget rooms (£70 a night) were in a separate wing to the smart, regular rooms. Ours was small and smelt strongly of cigarettes, so not a great start to a holiday. But the facilities overall were good, and the choice of foods for breakfast was exceptional. If I was visiting Gothenburg again, and it's a wonderful city, I would either upgrade or shop around for somewhere nearby with newer, cleaner rooms.

Not air conditioned. In a heat wave, that's not good. Don't stay in the old section. Small cramped rooms. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, however. And there was an elevator. Plus we did have a phone in the room. The lobby area is classy and nice. Most of the staff was very helpful, save for one desk clerk who couldn't be bothered to help us find train info and told us to go across the street to the train station to find our info.

God och vänlig service. Mysigt litet rum. Skön säng. Fin frukost. Perfekt läge nära centralen.

Bra beliggenhet til sentralbanen og gågater/ shopping. Bra frokost . Små rom og lite bad, men rent og pent. To sengs betyr dobbelt seng som kan skyves fra hverandre. Ingen safe eller vannkoker på rommet . Husk ta med egen hengelås til skaper i spa avdelingen. Pent felles område med flere steder å sitte

Grand Hotel promoterer seg selv som 4 stjerners hotell. Når vi chekket inn ble vi sjokkert over rommet da tilstandet i rommet var meget lav - motsvarende 2-3 stjerners hostel. Når vi spurte i resepsjonen ble vi informert om at vi ble plassert i deres gamle del som er 3 stjerner, resten av hotellet er 4 stjerner. Rommet var meget litet, manglet lysepærer, mini bar, hårføner. Tett vask på badet. Slitne vegger, dørrer og møbleringen. Meget kaldt på rommet.

Har bott här nu ett par dagar i veckan under en längre tid och är SÅ nöjd med rum, bemötande, mat mm. Ligger nära min kund och Centralen, perfekt :-)

Grand Hotel Opera är Göteborgs bästa och mest prisvärda hotell. Hotellet har rum av alla klasser och ligger perfekt mellan Centralstationen och Nordstan och det finns väldigt lite att klaga på. Trevlig personal, bra restaurang och frukost, fräscha lokaler och rum, gratis internet, alla bekvämligheter. De billigaste rummen har inte minibar och badrummen är inte det snyggaste jag sett men absolut godkänt och riktigt trevligt. Ett hotell som håller vad det lovar och grymt mycket finare och mer personligt än kringliggande kedjor...

Centralt hotel med bra läge! Underbar frukost. Bra service. Rummen i gamla delen var dålig/tråkig utsikt, eller ingen utsikt. Inte kul med rum som ligger med mellan dörr till nästa rum. Lyhört! Men helt klart nöjd när vi fick byta rum.. Men lär ta nya delen nästa gång..

Bokade dubbelrum till mig och min Sambo. Sängen, 140 bred, med ett täcke som var mindre i bredden... jag är ca 164 lång (kort) och det kändes som jag och min sambo sov i en barnsäng... Det fanns bara en handduk. extra kuddar låg på golvet slängda innanför dörren, inplastade.

Bokade ett rum i den del av hotellet som inte är renoverad och blev positivt överraskad - mycket fräschare än vad jag hade förväntat mig! Ett minus för personalen i Receptionen som inte drog på smilbanden en enda gång - fick lite "näsan i vädret" känsla. Lite mer välkomnande, så hade det blivit full pott!
