Having stayed in Venice many times before we were very pleased with this hotel. The location is perfect. There are lots of really nice and (for Venice) reasonably priced bars and restaurants right on the doorstep. Every part of the city is easily accessible. The staff here were also very friendly and welcoming, and although we didn't need anything particular, we felt that any request for help or advice would have been readily provided. We would stay here again without a moments hesitation.

we would recommend this hotel - if you want a quaint, charming, quiet, no frills stay in the heart of Venice. If you take a water taxi or the vaporetta to the rialto market stop, it is a very easy, short walk to the hotel. Nice breakfast served in the room.

Loved our stay at Locanda Poste Vecie! Mauricio made sure our time on the island was worth it. Great location. Loved being by the fish market, never smelled like fish. Breakfast was brought to our room every morning. Took the water taxi to Rialto Market and was able to find it fairly easy. Ask anyone and they will point you in the right direction. Would recommend to everyone!

It is right in the center of Venice next to the Rialto Markets and the hotel itself is beautiful. The rooms were warm and cozy and I can't speak for the other rooms but mine was quite large. They also bring your breakfast to your door so that is quite nice if you want to ease into the day. No complaints whatsoever. A lot of people have said it was difficult to find but I didn't think so. I did make one wrong turn on the way there but where is the fun in traveling if you don't make a wrong turn here and there. Do yourself a favor and go to Venice and stay here.

A typical for Italy, clean, modest, SMALL room in a good location. Short walk from Rialto Bridge. Rm # 1 is very small, with about 10" between bed and wall to walk around. No counter space in bathrooms in any of the 3 hotels we stayed, and very firm mattresses with flat pillows in all 3 as well. Staff was very warm and welcoming. Manager spoke little English, but housekeeper spoke more which helped, and she was wonderful. Good breakfast brought to our room each morning. A/C worked but hard time keeping up with hot temps early Sept.

I had a great experience here, great customer service and advice on how to get places etc he really made me and my dad feel welcome and everything was really clean. It was really close to the bridge but like everyone else said hard to find, we just asked people on the street and got there without a map! Only downside was the breakfast area outside in the pictures wasn't in use by this was fine since we fit breakfast delivered to the door instead. I would definitely recommend this place if you're not made I'd money. Very down to earth people not rude at all.

The hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating. They even served us our breakfast in our room on our second day. And they let us leave our luggages after we checked out. The hotel room was clean and cozy, with high speed internet. There are 2 things I dont like about this hotel and they are: there is no shower curtain, and the towels smell bad. But these would not stop me from staying in that hotel again if ever i go back to Venice again. These are just minor things and we could bring our own towels next time. the hotel is very close to Rialto bridge and about 15 min walk to St. Mark's square.

We stayed here for two nights in August. It was one of the only affordable hotels we could find in a good location that could accommodate four people. Our room was large and comfortable, with a view of the fish market - which was closed during our time there so the room didn't smell of fish, as it might have if the market had been open. The air conditioner kept the room comfortably warm rather than hot. The staff were friendly and helpful and the included breakfast was very nice. The only small complaint was the shower, which tended to spray water all over the floor if it wasn't aimed the right way. The location couldn't be beat, within an easy walk to the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark's Square. Overall a positive experience.

As others have noted, this hotel is tucked away from a main street, but having noted this, in advance we spent time with a map and found it without problems. The location is great. Breakfast was in adjoining restaurant and a very nice buffet. I would definitely stay here again!

Locanda Poste Vecie was a good choice. Pros include: 1. Excellent serice - Mauricio and his wife Papa do a great job. 2. Excellent in room breakfast 3. Clean room. The only negative we can think of was the small room we stayed in. Mauricio showed concern about that since we were a family of 4. Overall, we would recommend this place to people looking for a good value.

Locanda Poste Vecie was not particularly difficult to find but next time we will buy a better map as we got lost several times in Venice (all part of the fun!). Hotel in excellent, safe and central location - the nearby fish and fruit markets are amazing and reasonably priced. We bought fruit every day to take with us. Our room was clean, airy, quiet and comfortable. The window overlooked a canal and had lovely views. Fridge, air-con, mosquito 'plug in' device, wi-fi and own bathroom with bidet included. Breakfast was simple but sufficient (cereal, croissant, bread-roll, biscuits, yoghurt, juice, tea, coffee) and was served in a pleasant covered outdoor area from 8am. You cannot drink the tap-water in Venice so you need to buy bottled water from supermarkets and there were no tea and coffee making facilities in the hotel room but this did not bother us. The only thing wrong with the room was that we couldn't figure out how to work the safety deposit box (and neither could the hotel staff) so we just found a little hiding place in the room for the ipad and carried our passports and money around with us. The staff were friendly and welcoming and did everything they could to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. Check-out is 10am but we were able to leave our bags at the hotel to collect later on in the evening. We would definitely recommend this hotel and we would not hesitate to book here again next time!

Hotel was easy to find (as long as you print directions from the website) and our room was a decent size (although we were told we got a free upgrade). BUT... the worse smelling hotel EVER! I woke up at night and felt sick to my stomach. I never figured out what it was but our room faced the fish market, which is right around the corner... so maybe the smell just stayed around? Not really sure but it was terrible. The bathroom was dirty as well. Not happy with our stay but have read other reviews and we thought the staff was very friendly and nice... just not sure how they stand the terrible smell.

This hotel is located in a square and is very easy to locate. They have a local garage that they park your car in (for a fee) and retrieve when you need it. The staff was great, they even waited outside for my car when the garage was running late. Room was clean and breakfast was very nice. Location is 5 minutes from David, 5 minutes from train, and 10 minutes from town center. Everything was very close and easy to find. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Wonderful little hotel in the middle of not so touristy neighborhood, relatively near (8 min walk) from the Rialto bridge. The hotel includes a contiental breakfast, which was quite nice, and the hotel staff was helpful, friendly, and very accomodating. The room was quaint and very historic.

We chose to stay in the Locanda Poste Vecie (LPV) for two reasons... 1. At the time of booking the rate was very competitive for a hotel that's not in the Mestre district which is far from the main sites of Venice. 2. The hotels location is superb, right next to the Rialto bridge and in the middle of the San Polo district of Venice. We arrived in mid June 2011. Our flight landed early at Marco Polo Airport. We got the bus from the airport to P.Roma Vaporetto stop and then the vaporetto to Rialto Bridge. The vaporetto stop is on the other side of the bridge to the LPV so you need to cross the Rialto bridge and then walk for a couple of minutes to get to the hotel. The LPV is tucked away and is tricky to find even if you print off the map from the website and bring it with you! That said, the Locanda Poste Vecie Trattoria (the hotel restaurant) is easy to locate and the staff directed us to the hotel (which is at the rear). We arrived too early to check in but the staff welcomed us and allowed us to leave our bags at reception while we went off in search of food. There are a number of less expensive cafe's, restaurants and bars in the vicinity of the hotel. Of particular note are the bars next to the canal between the Rialto bridge and the LPV. They provide a great place to sit and sip vino rosso while watching the gondolas go by, especially in the evening. When we checked in the staff had taken our bags up to the room for us. Our room was on the top floor which was quite a climb, however I believe we had a quieter night sleep as a result of not having people walk past our room etc. The room was a reasonable size, not large but not tiny. We are both quite short and taller people might have struggled with the low ceiling. We had only a couple of windows, neither of which provided any view but then this is Venice and all of the buildings are very close together anyway. This hotel is an easy 5 minute walk from the train station. It costs 6 Euros for a round trip, 30-40 minute train ride, right into Venice. It is so much more relaxing than trying to maneuver the waterbus and luggage over bridges and cobblestones. Plus its a wonderful, beautiful little town. The hotel itself is very Italian, with a lift big enough for 1 person and a suitcase. The room was clean, the bathroom modern. The included breakfast buffet is amazing. Pastries, breads, tons of fresh fruit choices, Greek yogurt, a variety of cheeses, 3 or 4 Italian meats, hard boiled eggs and a variety of cereals. There is cold juices, milk, and tons of coffees and tea choices. The room has dark woods and white linens overlooking a lovely colorful little garden. There is a free internet computer up front and a lovely little restaurant that had a good selection and amazing prices. You take the number 5 bus from the airport into Venice ( 10-15 minutes) and the train station is 5 minutes to the right...so it is easy access for first time travelers who don;t know their way around. Its also good for the budget conscious. The ONLY thing I did not like had to do with walking past an African community center, between the train station and hotel as there were about 15-20 young men in mid 20's hanging out there in the early evening. I could have walked on the other side of the street had I known it was there.

The only thing that was good about this hotel was the excellent location. This hotel seriously needs to give better directions from the train station. It is impossible to find. We only found the hotel after two hours of wandering around with our luggage, and asking about ten different people. Although the location is very close to the Rialto Bridge, it is also right next to the fish market, so it smells terrible all day long, every day. The breakfast was pretty awful. Only one croissant and some cereal. The hotel staff was not friendly at all. In fact, they were rarely ever there. Nobody was ever at the front desk, and they would simply leave all of the keys stacked on the counter for anyone in Venice to come grab if they so desired. During our stay, I had a family member urgently need to get in touch with me and he had to call the hotel more than ten times to finally have somebody answer. When he did finally receive an answer, he was hung up on. Apart from the good location and the free internet, I was not at all impressed with this hotel and I would not recommend it.

the hotel is off an alley off an alley that begins off to the side of a larger alley. Everything in Venice is hard to find, but this place was well hidden. Get very good directions from the hotel. You should be ok if you start at the Fish Market.

The previous reviews we saw were mixed and the price we paid for a 3* hotel in Venice (an expensive city) seemed ok. Having booked for two nights we only stayed for one. The room was adequate if 1* but not 3* and not cleaned properly with layers of dust on most fitting. A full hotel meant no alternatives available. An odd smell to the bathroom was initailly dismissed but by the morning had turned into a strong smell of backed up sewage. A broken shower fitting meant that you had to hold the shower head to have a shower. The included continental breakfast is taken next door in what can be discribed as the covered garden. Rain anda wind meant getting wet getting to breakfast which is through the alleyway, a side door, the back of a kitchen and into the garden. The side wall of the garden was a large blue plastic sheet that bellowed with the wind and rain making breakfast a draughty affair. breakfast itself was a jam-filled croissant, a piece of toast, one cereal or a yogurt with coffee from a flask. the final straw came when another guest asked to sit at a table away from the wind and rain and the host took some plates with windswept leaves on them, brushed them off and passed them to the guest. Sewage smelling bathroom, unclean rooms, awful breakfast and staff who think it is ok to eat of dirty plates in the wind and rain, certainly not the ideal romantic weekend. For us, we went out and stopping for a coffee later went back on to Hotel.com and found a 4* hotel close to San Marco for elss than we paid for the 3* and on arriving got a free upgrade to boot. Simple message - avoid this hotel and outside of the busy tourist season, book late for a better deal

Hotel is a five minute stroll from the Rialto Bridge and makes a perfect base to explore Venice from. Don't be surprised if your room is up a couple of flights of stairs, that's normal for Europe. There's plenty of trattorias in the surrounding area, or jump on a vaporetto and explore elsewhere.

The hotel was very convenient in Venice. things are quite expensive there so we didn't expect a lot for the money. the worst feature was noise outside the window and smoke of others drifing into our room requiring us to close window. But that is Italy. Coffee was atrocious for Italy - expected far better there. Otherwise no complaints. Convenient location was it's best asset and what we were looking for. It was safe and generally clean.

This hotel is in a very convenient location, I would stay here again. The rooms were good sized in comparison to others in Europe. Very clean and the staff were very accomodating.

We selected this hotel for our anniversary getaway to Venice based upon online reviews. What we expected was a basic hotel, with a clean, comfortable room in a great location. That's exactly what we got. The room was spacious by European standards (we had a double) and, thankfully, the air conditioner worked great - as we were in Venice the hottest few days of the year. The hotel is located within a few minutes walk from the Rialto bridge, so we were close to everything in Venice. It was hard to find the hotel because it was tucked down an alley that was about 30 inches wide. Venice is expensive, so we preferred to spend a little less on a hotel and more on food and shopping. For the money, this hotel was a fantastic find. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun vacation in Venice. We woudn't call it a luxury hotel, but definitely comfortable enough for a nice stay.

I can imagine that the rooms opening from the breakfast area might be disappointing. Ours on the top floor, on the other hand, was smallish, but perfect. Excellent location -- close to the canal, vaporetto, and all the touristy stuff, still quiet.

This small hotel is in an excellent location, only a few minutes from the excellent fish and fruit markets, as well as the Rialto Bridge. Its easy to find if you study the location before you go, and easy to get to with suitcases. We actually walked back to the Piazza Roma at the end of stay with our suitcases and wasn't too bad, if a little warm. (20mins) Our room wasn't over large for the 3 of us, and just seemed like a double room with and extra bed pushed in, although the bathroom was lovely and large, but a slightly small shower in the corner. Breakfast was only just adequate but doesn't detract from recommending the hotel. Friendly reception too. Lovely and clean too and the bedroom tidied every day. If the breakfast is insufficient or not to your liking get some lovely fruit at the market before setting off on yourt days travels. Its easy to walk to anywhere within Venice from this hotel and its only a few minutes from the vaporetta waterbus stop by the Rialto. Its good to stay a few days in Venice so you can get away from the very touristy areas to see more of the place! Some buildings are in a poor state of repair so get yourself there soon before it either crumbles or sinks, and do stay in Locanda Poste Vecie, or other central hotels, to save time getting to the best bits.

i dont expect much as i read some bad review frm other people who stayed they earlier.. as for me,the place as great as some good review ! maybe we were lucky enough to met a very helpful Italian guy to find the hotel with his help.,its a very small lane and i dont think i could find it without his help.overall the location was great.and the room was excellent (i took triple bed,its on the 1st floor,lucky us) they dont have lift,i cant imagine if i have a lots of luggage and staying on 2nd or 3rd floor :) ..

While this hotel is a little difficult to find, it is worth the effort. Our room was at the top of the hotel after climbing some steep steps, but it was worth the climb as the room was quiet and we had a nice view from our windows. We found that the staff was very friendly and responsive. I'd definitely recommend the hotel.

Quaint little hotel (just what you want from Venice) very close to the Rialto Bridge. Friendly staff, clean room, two big windows with view of the grand canal if you leant out, next to fish market but no smell or noise (speaking as someone who doesnt like fish). Ideal for a stay in Venice rather than having to travel in and out each day, well priced, basic breakfast of marmalade croisant and bread roll, and as much tea, coffee and orange juice as you wanted. Easy enough to find if you have a look at the pictures posted on trip advisor and map before your stay. Basically go straight on from the Rialto Bridge, heading away from St Marks square through the narrow streets lined with market stalls, the first bridge you come to (just after a small square) seems to cross straight into a shop, there is a little alleyway there on the right hand side, go in, turn right again halfway down and the hotel entrance is ahead. When we return we would definitely stay at the same hotel without hesitation.

The hotel was a little funky, but it was clean and on the island. It seems like at one point it was a hostel and then converted to a hotel. For the price and location it was worth it... just a little funky.

Como disse, o hotel fica próximo de um mercado de peixe e a janela do quarto onde ficamos situava-se de frente ao mercado. Ao abrir a janela, sentia-se o cheiro típico. O hotel é de difícil localização, pois a parte antiga da cidade é cheia de ruas estreitas que parece um labirinto. O café da manhã é servido no quarto e precedido do preenchimento de um cardápio da alimentação a ser servido. A relação de opções contida no cardápio é restrita. O espaço da recepção é pequeno que provoca desconforto logo na chegada.

良い点 ・スタッフはフレンドリーです。 ・部屋もかわいいヨーロッパ調で、広かったです。 ・価格が安いです。 ・サンタルチア駅から水上バスで１５分ほど、近くに市場があり、リアルト橋も近いので、観光には良い場所にあります。 悪い点 ・市場のそばの袋小路の中にあり、場所がわかりにくかったです。地図だけでは行けないです。 ・エレベーターがないので、２階の部屋まで荷物を運ぶのに難儀しました。 ・部屋がほこりっぽいです。タオルが少し臭かったです。菌の匂いではなく、酢のようなすっぱい匂いがしました。 ホテルは泊まるだけのものだと考えている人には問題のないホテルです。階段だけなので、年配の方にはあまりおすすめできません。

Es ist für das Geld ok. Im Großen und Ganzen war das Zimmer sauber, lediglich die Überdecke hat gerochen. Die haben sie uns aber nach der zweiten Nacht entzogen. Das Frühstück war ok. Für Schinken oder Käse muss man allerdings extra bezahlen. Es war ein wenig Schimmel im Zimmer, aber ok. Das wird bei der Feuchtigkeit in den Wänden der Stadt niergentwo ausbleiben. Die Lage ist top! Ein paar Schritte zur Rialtobrücke. Gernerell würde ich jedem empfehlen Venedig nicht im Sommer zu besuchen. Es stinkt zum Himmel! Wir waren 3 Tage da, 1-2 reichen jedoch vollkommen aus!

Trevlig och hjälpsam ägare, om än med lite bristfälliga engelskakunskaper. Bra läge, ett par minuters promenad från Rialto, på den lugnare och billigare sidan av canal grande. Tråkig frukost. Prisvärt.

Sängarna för tankarna till träbänkar och frukosten är knappast vad man drömmer om att vakna upp till. Kommer du för sent till frukosten så är det mesta som kan kallas ätbart slut och frågor om påfyllning möts av axelryckningar från personalen. Men. Om du bara behöver någonstans att sova och ställa resväskan under en kort vistelse i Venedig så funkar Locada Poste Vecie alldeles utmärkt. Beläget i ett lugnt kvarter bara ett stenkast från Rialto-bron så har du nära till allt.

- Un peu difficile à trouver car dans une petite ruelle. - Proche du Rialto (3-4 minutes à pied) - Chambre assez jolie et avec une belle salle de bain - Chambre avec clim - Salle du petit déjeuner agréable - Petit déjeuner avec café et/ou lait chaud/froid, croissant, céréales, gateaux ... Rien à dire, je recommande et je pense que l'on y retournera

Vi er heldige som oppdaget dette sjarmerende lille hotellet mitt i sentrum av byen. Jeg kan anbefale det på det varmeste.

Prisvärt hotell med jättebra läge. Svårt att hitta dit i den trånga, schabbiga gränden! Men när man väl kommer fram är det ett helt okey, rent och välordnat litet hotell. Plus för fräscht badrum. Ovanligt bra frukost för att vara ett kontinentalt hotell.

Locanda très bien placée personnel sympathique et competent , restaurant attenant historique et gastronomique. point à améliorer cependant : Entretien de la chambre et petit dejeuner "buffet"

Heb het restaurant geprobeerd en het was fantastisch! De prijs was hoog maar Venetie was in het verleden duurder dan nu. Heel lekker gegeten tegen een redelijke prijs.

Jeg anbefaller stedet for alle som vil se Venezia fra en enkelr vinkel!

Super lage. Alles zu fuss machbar od auf dem wasserweg. Zimmer sauber und genug gross für städtetripp. Frühstück ohne aufschnitt typisch italienisch, aber mit brot gipfeli ect hat vörig gereicht. Sehr zufrieden. Waren 3 nächte.

Perfect location near the Rialto Bridge and the marcet.. the hotel is in the end of a small street, and its actually very nice and quiet even though its so close to the busy area. The room was good size and clean. Only minus i give is for the bed and pillow which was very hard and if you have back problems you would not be comfortable sleeping there.

the only important notice - do not use the trattoria locaced in the same buildin (trattoria poste vecia) - it is not value for money - terribly expensive. but it is nothing to do with the hotel -hotel is more that great. renovated room, good air conditioning that is important when it is +32.
