El Conquistador Resort, a Waldorf Astoria Hotel - فاخاردو

This hotel is nice, however the bathroom in our room smelled a little rank, in the toilet room. It was tricky figuring out how to catch the shuttle back and forth to self parking. I came back late at night to find no shuttle in the lot, so I called front desk and the concierge; no answer. I had to drive up to the hotel and ask the guy there to send it down. So that part is not consistent. The view was great.

My family and I had a great time. We took advantage of Coqui Waterpark and loved Palomino Island.

We had an amazing time at the El Conquistador Resort. It is very kid friendly with many activities to keep them busy. If you want the resort to take care of your kid for the whole day it will cost much extra. The waterpark (additional fee) was awesome as was the private island. My only complaint would be the high cost of drinks and the unexpected charges for parking and bellhop which made me feel cheap not leaving a tip.

I loved the private island. The ferry is convenient and the beach is beautiful with plenty to do...snorkle, rent wave runners, etc. The resort itself offers a lot to do with several pools, shops and restaurants. The Marina restaurant, however, was the only good meal I got on property. The wraps for lunch were pretty disgusting. I got a fish wrap 1 day and it was all chopped up and mixed with beans. The rooms were clean but had very old carpet and smelled very musty. Our air conditioner leaked so we had to be careful not to slip on the puddles. We were with a group and had 5 rooms total and they all said the same thing about the musty smell and old carpet. Overall the beach and view were spectacular and the staff was relatively interested in good service but the musty rooms might deter me in the future. Oh, and if you book on a website (not hotel direct) they will charge you a 14% per night add on when you check out.

We had a nice time but the rooms were very outdated and not what I expected for a Waldorf property. There was no service at all by the pool. Our rooms were located close to the marina and our pool was pretty much private which was nice but the experience would have been better if there was some type of food and beverage service there. We did enjoy taking the ferry over to the Island the resort has (which is only about 8 minutes by boat). Also there was a $50 per day resort fee you pay at the end. Wasn't aware of that when we booked.

We have two children, age 6 and 3, and this was a great place for them. So many things to do. Water park and Palomino Island perfect for them, and convenient because you don't have to lug around towels, beach chairs, etc. Though there are many different options for food, we always ate at the casual places. Prices for food extremely overpriced for what you get. The room did have a fridge so with better pre-planning we could have eaten breakfast and lunch in the room. No microwave. We stayed near the Coqui Waterpark and it was very nice because you didn't have to go all the way up the vernacular and multiple elevators to get to the activities (the boat to the island and the waterpark). I would recommend staying at the Marina for families.

Overall, very nice and beautiful and would stay here again. Just know they nickle-and-dime you for everything they possibily can.

My wife ran conferences here in the mid-90's and wanted to return for a long time, so took the family. Hotel is VERY tired and needs basic up-dating. Plastic couches in rooms not so nice, A/C that barely worked, and friendly service, but very SLOW especially at restaurants that basically are microwaving the lunch ! No room service 2 days and elevators under repair. Eat down at the Marina for lunch and Chinese restaurant decent. Would not recommend.. Sorry ElCon.

Concierge desk is hard to get through and service requests take long time to resolve. The sceneries and amenities are great though.

. Hotel bleeds you dry. Charge me upfront and Im ok with it. Overcharge and nickel and dime me for everything and I hate it. $25 to rent snorkel for 3 hours, cmon. I can buy that for less than $25. Pain in the butt going on tram, then the boat to get to the beach. Lines for tram and boat during vacation weeks. Lines for food on vacation weeks. Waterpark park was good but small. Good for kids under 12. Food way overpriced versus quality. Go to Punta Cana in an all inclusiveon on the beach. You'll have a better time and save money.

This hotel is exception in terms of its location as a get-away. There is not much to do (that we saw) in Fajardo itself, but in our opinion, one would not go to this hotel to be "off the grounds". The hotel, resort, and Palamino Island are far too exquisite to worry about going elsewhere! The hotel staff was excellent; they let us check in at 10:00 a.m. and check out at 12:00! Our stay was incredible and we cannot wait to go back! This is the perfect place to relax for a few days!! Golf enthusiasts will love it too!

You can tell that this venerable resort has been around a while and has fallen from a playground for the rich and famous to a decent place for regular folks, albeit at at high price point. Food was not great for the prices but service was excellent in all cases.

The hotel setting is spectacular..they seem to be going thru some changes..do not get the food plan we went to outside restaurants (La Estacion, Pasion, De Yuka. The hotel takes advantage of a captive audience by charging obscene prices for food, taxi etc... to the point of feeling taken advantage of. The cafe on palomino island is probably the best place to eat if u stay within the beach area..all other retsurants are awful. Im from nyc area so for me to think the prices are ridiculous they must be truly outrageous.

Staying at the conquistador was a great trip. Received lots of recommendations about this resort from people who have stayed there previously and they're right. We had an ocean view room and the view is breathtaking. Resort has its own private island, beautiful pools, and delicious restaurants with fresh food and good service. Breakfast buffet was delicious with good service (although a bit pricy). Concierge and front desk people were not very helpful, but service from everyone else was superb. Resort is much more family oriented now too - no more casino and a new water park. Really just go for a romantic getaway with breathtaking views. Will go again.

I visit PR very often, most of the time I stay at the Wyndham Rio Mar, but we try something new this past wknd. El conquistador was a little disappointment. The hotel needs a lot of work, a lot of areas need painting and fixing holes in the sealing at the restaurants. The room had hair in the tub and the tv can use some updating. I think the hotel is overpriced for sure. The restaurants surrounding the hotel are excellent and better priced than the hotel rest.. Must go to Pasion por el Fogon, best meal ever.

This place was perfect for us - couple with no kids . We'd spent the previous 5 days circumnavigating the island and were ready to kick back .

Given the price and the reviews I expected much more. The hotel is not bad but is not super good either. If you want to go there because of the pools, the private island, etc. I think you won't be disappointed but if what you are expecting is a really good hotel, I definitely wouldn't go there. It feels old and although they have renewed some parts it doesn't look like a new hotel. The corridors in the area that I stayed were horrible. Regarding the room, the bathroom had some parts new and others older; the tiles had some concrete left over them so they looked like they were dirty. The door of the room had the paint flaking. I think it doesn't worth what you pay for it.

great service and one of the best hotel in PR

Awesome hotel....

I have stayed in many Hotels here in Florida. For the price the only thing that was worth the stay was the view. Outside side both rooms was garbage in the balcony. I was treated better if I spoke english. For the money I spent I would not do it again.

It's an exceptional hotel... One of the most beautiful settings with great views in every direction. The pools, water park, and Palomino Island beach provide so many choices that it is hard to choose what to do each day. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Easy experience if you have young children as well.

WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE FRONT DESK PERSONNEL. THEY WERE TALKING AMONGST THEMSELVES WHILE CHECKING ME IN, WOULD ASK ME A QUESTION THEN TURN AROUND AND CONTINUE WITH THEIR PERSONAL CONVERSATION. CASINO WAS NO LONGER THERE. NOTHING TO DO AT NIGHT EXCEPT EAT DINNER.

This gorgeous hotel and property has it all! We stayed down by the marina in Las Casonas area so we were right next to water park, which my son loved. The room was clean and spacious with vaulted ceilings. It never felt too crowded even on the weekend, everyone was pleasant and friendly. The free ferry to Palomino island is a huge plus, we went every day and stayed all day. The beaches are beautiful, there is ample seating and shade. Take a hike around to the quieter beaches--some clothing optional. The Iguanas Cafe has the best fish and chips! If you stay at Los Olas or down by the marina you are pretty well isolated from the lobby so be prepared to be efficient and also consider a porter for your things. That said, there are restaurants and bars and shops on the bottom top levels so you do not feel stranded. Onsite food and drinks were good but $$$, considering walking toward the condos (Marina Lanais) and going into the village of Las Croabas, about 1/4 mile on a paved road. We ate at several local restaurants that had great food, music and drinks for $. Best to walk during the day or with a flashlight in the early evening, but not too late at night. Self parking was too far away and $15 night was a bit ridiculous for the inconvenience, but overall that was minor in our stay. Beware they do charge $150 per night deposit on cc.

The El Conquistador was lovely if you are a resort lover, which I am not. The grounds are beautiful, the service excellent, and rooms well appointed and clean. It's easier just to stay on the property than go out and explore. The private island has a limited beach, walking in the ocean is difficult because of the coral and there are no waves which frustrated the kids.

Amazing hotel. Reviews are correct in saying that this hotel is top notch. We had an Oceanside view room, and it was just beautiful. Service was excellent. Parking was the only problem since there was a lack of parking spaces probably due to a convention that weekend. I was aware of parking being $15/day. WIFI is free. Palomina Island was amazing. Plenty of chairs on the beach to lounge.

I very much enjoyed my time at the El Conquistador Resort. The check-in desk staff was very nice and the concierge desk staff were extremely helpful. The bathroom counters were not cleaned in the room, and the bathtub was very difficult to get in and out of, but otherwise our stay was very enjoyable.

We had an ocean view room and it was amazing. The room was clean and comfortable and the view was beautiful!! The staff was very nice and helped us with anything we needed. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Puerto Rico!! The only down fall we didn't like was when we checked in we had to put a $150 deposit a night which you get back when you check out. Also you have to pay misc resort fee of $23.34 a night which comes out of you deposit. When we booked our room they didn't say anything about the deposit or the misc fee. They really need to put that somewhere so that people would know.

The hotel is a bit deteriorated, but the experience is good. Lots of activities and amenities... but expensive. Staff is first rate and service is great.

room had no good control remote,hair dryer not working,entrance to village with water and outside village very simple no decoration,to much money for a big hotel. I expected more for what we paid

The cleanliness of our room was poor. Our expectations were set pretty high after looking at website pictures etc and we were left disappointed. The pool area and lounging chairs could also use an update/clean up. Our favorite thing about El Conquistador was our trip to Palomino Island which included various activities and beautiful beaches.

I would expect more from a 4 Diamond Resort. Our rooms had stains on the carpets, mold in the bathrooms (on shower curtain and grout), and the overall appearance was "shabby". The grounds were incredible and the views spectacular! Enjoyed the stay, but would have preferred a cleaner room.

The grounds and hotel are beautiful as well as being on a hillside looking out over the water. Staff was very personable. Some of the dining venues had rather slow service. Ferry service to the beach island was unpredictable, not very timely. Only 1 of 3 showers at the beach were in working order - maintenance there could be better. Overlall a very relaxed and luxurious atmosphere. Looking forward to going back next year.
