Well-appointed room with thoughtful extras for travelers in London central [e.g. an umbrella, just in case]. Ease of walking to major museums, theatres on West side, plus major tourist attractions [Westminster Abbey, Parliament, Big Ben,Tate, et al]. Quick access to Underground to go wherever. Highly recommended, especially with a discounted room rate.

Found the location excellent with no need for tubes. Hotel itself was excellent. Great idea with chilled water available on each floor. Rooms were very good quality.

Perfect location, great service comfortable room

While the room was a bit small and the food at the restaurant quite pricey, the hotel was still GREAT! For London, I got a reasonable rate through hotels.com. The room was extremely comfortable, even quiet though some construction was going on outside. Internet service was great. Location is PERFECT. Visited National Gallery, Embankment, convenient to Underground. I will stay here agin!

My Wife and another couple stayed in the Hotel at the end of July 2011. The travel time from Heathrow to the Hotel took just over 1 hr. The Hotel is extremely close to the tube line which made the transfer very convenient. On arrival we were very impressed with the exterior of the hotel. The immediate interior of the hotel was very old world /impressive. The reception area was functional however the assistance provided was good. The room ,a double bed /single room had all the necessary requirements and space for a weekend stay in London.The location of this hotel and the cost per room per night made this hotel an ideal location for a holiday in London.I would recommend the hotel.

Stayed at the grand for 1 night, only issues where a faulty TV and an electricity socket not working. The hotel was clean, the staff were pleasent and happy to help and advise. The location was the biggest plus for us with the price also very reasonable. Will definatley stay at the grand trafalgar square again.

I stayed in London for one night and I wanted a good central location and a nice hotel. the Grand was a very nice hotel and the staff was very friendly and helpful. over all I would definately recommend this for someone wanting a good central london hotel.

We had a great stay at the Grand. It is in the pefect location as there are 4 train lines within a short walk. The Hotel itself was very clean and the wifi worked well. Another great perk was that the hotel provided free bottled water! i would definitely stay there again.

The Grand's location is perfect. Situated on Trafalgar Square it is less than a 5 minute walk to Charing Cross station and the Eye. A bit further to Buckingham Palace. Exciting for our family was discovering Benjamin Franklin's home literally just around the corner. The accomodations were spacious for our family of five and the bathroom was nicely equipped and organized. Hotel staff were courteous but not especially knowledgeable. Still, a wonderful location well worth the extra pounds.

Location was perfect!!!!! Right near the tube, plenty of places to eat... One store is open 24hrs... This really is a Business hotel, they came to clean the room everyday at 8:30am..... My only bad thing was after the 1st day there was no soap or face towels in our room ... We called the front desk they said they would send up... We never got any... Took till the 3rd... But they were very nice when they did come... Oh and our room was in the front off the main street, no problem with street sounds.... We slept like babies You can also plug up to media center, we didnt but was nice to have option If I can afford next time will stay here again!!

Being in Trafalgar Square, the hotel is close to the Thames and is a short walk to several Underground Stations and Parliament Square. My room was nice - decently sized - and the bed was very comfortable. It was a very nice touch to have an umbrella in the closet. Also the hotel offers the opportunity to do your own laundry (for free) which is a great bonus if you've been traveling for a while. My only minor criticism was that the onsite restaurant does not serve food on Sundays after 1:00 pm. A little inconvenient for people who have been travelling all day and don't want to go back out (particularly in the rain). The hotel does, however, offer outside restaurants that deliver to your room so it's not too bad.

Nice hotel with a great loctation.

The location was simply great!! The front desk staff were polite and eager to help in any way possible. I had read an online review in which the author complained of his/her room being exceedingly hot (i.e. that the A/C did not work). Unfortunately, we had the same issue with our room and found the first two nights to be stiflingly hot. Attempted to cool room by opening the window which was of little help. And the outside noise was what one would expect of a downtown location,many police and ambulance sirens, honking ect. Also when making the booking we were told that breakfast was included. This was in error as the dinning facility actually is not part of said hotel but is actually and outside vendor. Not that big of a deal but FYI plan on spending out of pocket for breakfast. I have stayed in London dozens of times over the past 4-5 years as my employment requires extensive travel and will state the location of the Grand Hotel at Trafalgar is simply one of the best. Now if they could get the A/C to work it would be one of my top two hotels for the money in London.

Rooms are very basic but clean and comfortable. Shower only, no bathtub. Very convenient location - walking distance to Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Covent Garden, and Regent Street. Also a Cycle Hire was just down the street from the hotel and this also saved us time and expense.

The Grand was very nice and rooms and beds very comfortable. Location was convenient to many tourist sites and many restaurants were very close. I would recommend this hotel very highly!

Great location within walking distance to most tourist attractions, West End theater, and nightlife on Old Compton Street! The London Eye is just a short walk over the Jubilee Bridge - 5 minutes walk from the hotel - not to mention Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, river cruises, and the Tate Museum (just to name a few) are all within walking distance. The room sizes are also generous given the prime location.

We were very, very pleased with the hotel staff and the cleanliness of the whole place. The location is perfect for seeing London. Easy walking distance to all the major tourist sites. The cold free water bottles on the floors was a really nice touch and we loved it! I have been to London 5 times before, but this hotel was the best by far and I will be back!

This is the third time I have stayed at this hotel and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Great location, nice comfortable rooms and even free chilled water on every floor. Brilliant!

Location Location and Location...ok the hotel has the 3L's...great internet speeds in the rooms....but little else...small bussiness hotel.

I should say no I do not recommend as there may then always be availability for me but for sure I will be pleased to stay here again. Great location but more importantly a surprising good hotel. Very good clean rooms, service with a smile. I can and have recommended this hotel.

I travel often to London for both business and pleasure and I normally stay at the Grand. For the convenience, location, amenities, PRICE and friendly staff there are no other hotels to compare. Although the rating is a 3.5, remember that this rate is regarded as a 1st Class hotel. And that it is. I think the rating should be higher. I'll add that the size of the rooms are ample and larger than other London hotels plus very comfortable. And the restaurant is very good - again, location and comfort for a really good price in London. The Grand can't be beat.

My stay at The Grand at Trafalgar Square was extremely comfortable. The staff was very helpful with everything and made me feel very much appreciated during my short stay.

The location here was excellent. Otherwise it was fine. I had two minor concerns 1 the room was small (but I am a Yank so maybe discount that) and they charge 25 quid for late check out till 3pm (usuallly a comp in the US). Lounding area was nice as was workout room and the free wifi worked fine. All in all I would stay here again

Ideal location - minutes to Charing Cross and Embankment Tubes. Free internet, self service check-in and check-out. Business friendly with free wireless in room and ergonomic chairs.

Room was very small, but well appointed. However, you could not open the closet because the door was wedged between the wall and nightstand. The fans which run the heat are really noisy and difficult to adjust properly. It is centrally located near Charing Cross Tube , national gallery, theatres. I had expected better for the price, and I'm a New Yorker.

This was a very nice hotel in the middle of everything. An easy walk to many locals and tourists areas; Soho, Buckingham, Big Ben, etc and only a block from the tube for destinations further away. I found the hotel to be very nice, extremely clean and comfortable. The staff was polite and helpful. Beyond the usual duties, the staff was very helpful when I came down with the flu for a couple days during my stay. I would certainly stay here again.

Really lovely hotel in a brilliant location for theatre, sight-seeing and shopping. All areas immaculately clean. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location - walking distance to Covent Garden, London Eye, Soho, Leicester Square... walking around London is the best way to discover it! the room was good enough, spacious area and nice bathroom,

A beautiful appearance BUT I felt the price paid was too high as no breakfast was included. The rooms were pleasant and plush, however the staff working in the bar/restuarant were un helpful and difident towards guests. Being told to "go somewhere else away from the bar" having not been served with a complete ordre od drinks was rude. Also not appearing to want our custom for dinner brought us to the verge of eatin g elsewhere. The time we enquired for a table for 2 was 9:35 and the kitchen is advertised at closing at 10 p.m........several other people arrived after us and were seated hospitably but the Maitre de so I can only assume some staff just don't want to work there!! No we will not be returning since the feel of the place is that it wants to be "posh" but just doesn't know how.

Location was best. Staff may be questionable. I checked-in with a staff member who was pre-occupied with housekeeping issues. That evening, I asked the evening staff regarding how to get to Heathrow if Picadilly line was down. He was very off-putting and rude, until I called him on it. Shocked. The Grand is not grand until they work on their customer service. The next day, I addressed with front staff, and they were pleasant. Again, variable staff. Please consider before booking. Otherwise, room was okay. Bed very soft - uncomfortable. Great to have water with water bottle on each floor. Great free wireless internet and printing! May be better business hotel than for leisure.

My mum, mother in law and myself wanted a hotel that would be convenient for our trip to see Dreamboats and Petticoats. The Grand certainly lived up to our expectations; we were literally 50yards away from the theatre!!! The hotel was modern and comfortable with a breathtaking lobby. There was one member of reception staff who was off-hand with us when we arrived but subsequent staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was a triple room which had a mini kitchenette attached; it appeared well stocked and quite surprising to find in a hotel. The room was airy and air conditioning was a god send. But it was the view across Trafalgar Square that really was the cherry on the icing on the cake! The hotel were extremely accommodating the following day when we asked to leave our bags in storage so we could hit Covent Garden without our cumbersome luggage! We would certainly stay here again for the overall experience.

I'm just back from a girlie weekend break with 6 of my best friends after staying in The Grand. It was fantastic! In a nutshell: easy trip by train from Gatwick with easy Underground connections. Check in was straightforward & they let us take a room early. Locations was incredibly central but NOT AT ALL NOISY as i feared as they have a second set of windows probably for this reason. Impressive entrance hall,clean, helpful staff, check out was simple with kiosks available also. Only minor let down was the room size. It was average size but described as suites, but i suppose it did have a small kitchenette, fridge, microwave, dishes, kettle. For our money we were expecly far less in London & when we found the grand online we thought there must have been a catch, but it was great, just snug when 2 groups of 3 girls were getting ready to go out. A great choice.

The hotel was nice and also close to many of the things we wanted to see ; however, it was more of a business hotel, so there was no concierge although the desk staff was quite helpful. The neighborhood was ok, but mostly businesses.

We had a very pleasent stay. The hotel was in a perfect location, central to almost ever main tourist point of london, and situated very closely to many different transport links. The room was very clean, and was very reasonable for the price, however we did feel slightly dissapointed with the size of the room and where we were placed as we had a terrible view and sounds of a generator all night, which created some sleeping problems. Also the staff were not very helpfull and didn't seem to get involved at all. However, this hotel is amazing for the price, and I will deffinately be using this hotel for future stays in london and we highly reccomend it to any friends and family.

Polite freindly staff, clean room, plenty of space (Studio). Very good location for Trafalger square, short walk to most shows etc.

a lovely hotel close to the square.the mall and the embankment ,the staff really friendly. ideal for the tube, bus or even walking.our choice due to my daughter not able to walk too far but managed to go to covent garden and back down to the embankment and london eye. cosidering booking for next year

I arrived at 8am on an overnight flight and hoped, but didn't expect, to be able to check in so early. The front desk clerk was very nice, said he didn't have a room ready, but that I could wait in the club lounge, normally for members of Club Quarters only (CQ is in the same building with The Grand). In the club lounge there was free coffee, free wifi, and comfortable chairs. But I was there only about 30 minutes when the front desk clerk came in to tell me that he'd found a room for me. This was a welcome surprise. The room was an accessible room, so a bit different than others. I assume other rooms would be more comfortable for those not in a wheelchair (very low and small sink, attached bench on shower wall that I had trouble not bumping into as I showered). But I was so happy to be able to get into the room that these were minor inconveniences. The room was lovely, very clean and fresh. The bed was good, nice flat screen TV, tea and coffee maker. There was the added benefit of free wifi and free printing from the room to a printer in the "Gallery Lounge" above the lobby area with free computers. Two other very nice features were free chilled filtered water (empty sterilized bottles provided) on each floor and a free washing machine and dryer on the 3rd floor. The only glitch I experienced was handled very nicely by the hotel staff. The clothes I had sent to be cleaned on Friday morning were not returned Saturday. I asked about them Saturday evening and after trying to find out what had happened, the front desk staff told me that the clothes apparently had not been picked up from the front desk on Friday. They were very apologetic and promised I'd have the clothes Sunday, which I did. They did not charge me for the laundering of these clothes. The location of the hotel is fabulous. Close to restaurants, Covent Garden and charming neighborhood around it, Big Ben, Westminister Abbey, 10 Downing Street, about 2 blocks from the National Gallery and the same from
